Welcome back for another year of Guru Football.
The following people still have to join the league.
-dpr -toral -slowhand -donkey hunters -goldcoach -frick -syncopats
If you haven't received an invitation, let me know and I will resend it.
Looking back at last year, it took 11 days to complete the draft. We started on August 22nd last year. The season starts this year on Sept. 5th. We would probably want to start before August 22nd this year.
Maybe we can start on August 19th. What do you guys think about this? any ideas?
Once everyone joins the league, we can atleast start on the draft order.

Note to all managers - please check and update your franchise information - especially contact info - at the hosting site. I put in email addresses for each new team, but there may be some phone and/or other contact info leftover from whatever team was in your team's slot last season.

Mondays are always good, so August 19 works. Might start untimed on Sunday the 18th.

For some reason I cannot get into the league. I got the invite but get "server error" when I click on the link. When I go to the league page I cannot signin. Any suggestions?

Still can't get in!? Went to the site and tried to login there and it won't accept my password. When I try to have it e-mail my password info it ends an e-mail inviting me to login and I get the same error message as when I try my league invite. I went thru all the steps on the help file and that didn't work either. I'm flummoxed. By the by the 19th is fine if I can get in.

12,3,7,5,14,9,10,2,6,13,1,8,11,4\

You can start the selection process whenever. I will be sending out an email out in the next few mins to contact you guys individually.

It has taken us 7 days for 10 managers to choose their draft slots. Last year, the draft for this league took 11 days. I am pessimistic that we can finish the draft in 8 days to allow for a full waiver period before the season kicks off.
With that said, I am fine with waiting until the 25th with the understanding that we will shorten the pick window as needed to finish by Labor Day.

The first game is 9/5, starting the 25th leaves 11 days. Even if it took 11 days last year, I think waiting until the 25th is a mistake.
I think starting 8/25 and finishing by Labor Day is a pipe dream.
We might not need to start as early as the 19th, but I think shortly there after makes sense.

It makes more sense to start earlier with a 4-6 hour clock than have to be concerned about finishing in time and having a short clock. Also the teams on the turn should have either 4 or 6 hours on the clock with the commish adjusting the clock if a turn manager times out.

Im thinking about opening the draft Monday or Tuesday, leaving it untimed for a day then going to a clock. Teams on the turn will only get one clock.
I've emailed slowhand everyday letting him know its his turn. He must be on vacation or something. I've tried two different emails in case I was going into his spam filter. I'll give him late tonight because I'm in a wedding today/tonight.
What do you guys think? How much longer do I give him?
Do we have any west coasters?

Thanks Beezer...as some of you know I work in the Bakken oilfields and there are some huge areas with no coverage. I do have a phone from a small local provider that has the best coverage and have put that number in my contact info at the game site and a new Droid with a booster in my work truck that should give me better contact than last year. Once the draft starts I will always leave a queue if I will be out of touch. Sorry again for the hold up.
Also last year I told commish Judy to make her best guess pick for me if for some reason (like my queue runs out)I hold things up for more than 2 or 3 hours, and hereby authorize commish damoose to do the same thing.
Good luck to all.

The other AAA league has published 5 rounds at a time in one thread, in any order, so that there's no problem with placeholders for those who do not do rationales or fall behind. Would you want to do this here?

Trying to do individual rationales is a huge PITA for the RIFC league and not likely to happen here with all of the queues that we have been using so far.
If people want to rationales, just posting 5 at a time makes the most sense.

Isnt there a way to get the roster grid to display the roster grid by position by draft order as well? Is this something that I need to do or the commish?

#70, are you talking about on left side of screen, my roster -> grid format?
You want it to display in the order we draft?
If so, I'll take a look into it in the morning.
Doing 5 rationales at a time seems like the best way to do things.

I would assume we are going by whatever MFL has their position as. I believe that has been the precedent in the past for this and other similar RIXC leagues. So, if MFL only has them say at RB, but they are playing more WR, until MFL updates it, it might as well not exist.

That was a great draft everyone. It went a lot faster than I thought it would. I hope no one was bit by the injury bug too bad. I know a couple of guys got banged up during the draft.
So the schedule for the rest of the preseason looks like this:
Blind Bidding Waivers will begin on Sunday, 9/1 at 2 pm and continue on til Wednesday, 9/4 at noon.
First come, first served waivers will begin on Wednesday 9/4/13 at 3 pm and go until Monday 9/9 at 10:30 pm.
Blind bidding will pick up again Monday 9/9 at 10:30 pm and go until Wednesday 9/11 at noon.
So Weekly schedule during season is:
BB Waivers - Monday Nights 10:30 pm until Wednesdays at noon.
FC, FS Waivers - Wednesdays at 3 pm until Monday at 10:30 pm.
All times are eastern.
Best of luck to everyone this year. Like always, if you need anything, let me know.
Best way to contact me is through email.

just a quick question on the difference in our blind bidding process. gurudan posts a bid of $5 for player A. To back up that bid up with another $5 bid for player B, DO I need to stipulate that i only want one of the players or announce that player A is confined to one round and player B is for round 2, or will i conceivably get both, if noone else bids on them?

FC, FS Waivers - Wednesdays at 3 pm until Monday at 10:30 pm.
This doesn't mean you can pick up a player during games on Sunday, right? Are players locked during their gametime?

gurudan, if you only want one of those players you would enter both bids in the same round.
Here are a couple of links that are helpful in explaining how conditional blind bidding works.

Yeah, that was a brutal week for a few managers and I'm still holding my breath that no scoring adjustments come through. My 2-0 could very quickly turn into a 0-2.
I feel like I'm more often in your spot Dave, great score, but play one of the few teams that had a better week. At least in this league there is some relief as the last two play-off spots are points based, not record based.

I apologize for the poor formatting.
What are the rules for tie-breakers? Seeds 1-5 are pretty straight forward. If the first tie breaker is total points (if more then 2 teams are tied) it looks like Donkey Hunters would get the 6 seed and Sanforders the 7 and Dahlonega would get the 8 seed.
Synocats would miss the play-offs by less then 2 points. Since the last spot is so close, a scoring adjustment could change it.

Playoffs 8 teams, single elimination The 8 teams will be those with the top 6 W/L records plus the two other teams with the most points The top four seeds will be based on W/L record (including applicable tiebreakers) Seeds 5-8 will be based on total points for the other four playoff teams Teams with equivalent W/L records are ranked based on total points first, then head-to-head record. Bracket is fixed (no reseeding after each round)

Under the rules above, the playoff seeds are as followed.
1 - DPR 2 - Wheatfarmers 3 - YWK 4 - Crazy 88s 5 - Sanfordors 6 - Donkey Hunters 7 - Dahlonega 8 - Frick
I changed the waiver order for DPR to be first. Playoff teams also get blind bidding money. 1st seed gets 16, 2nd seed gets 14, etc., 8th seed gets 2. I subtracted those amounts from the amount your team has spent this year.
I also removed the ability to add players from non-playoff teams.
Does the playoff seeding look right for everyone?

Congrats Dave R. Too much for me. I'm a bit annoyed that if I would have laid down last week and let Frick finish with a better record, I would still be alive. But I was hoping to grab the overall scoring title and grab an "extra" RIFC slot if it came open, so no regrets.

My team (with some bad coaching decisions) tailed off badly as well. I would have won this week if I had made a couple of better decisions. My WR were only hot if they were on my bench, and I would have sworn that I swapped Gresham back in for Clark. Having kids and being at sporting events on Sunday mornings also hurt when a late injury report would come in while I was working one of their games.
Oh well, congrats to those moving up and still fighting to move up. Hopefully I can stay in AAA next year.

Thanks. I wonder if a 12-14 team ever ended up league champ in the playoffs. But looking at the standings, team SANFORDORS did end up with the highest average points per game as well as the highest points per game against average. Maybe a little bad luck went into that 12-14 record.

Still need a fantasy "fix" after the regular season is over? MFL has a Fantasy League for the Playoffs.
We will use these players: 1 QB 2 RB 3 WR 1 TE 1 PK 1 DST
You can only use a player once during the playoffs. RIFC scoring rules are in effect. Total points at the end wins!
Wins WHAT? you ask. Nothing but bragging rights...
If you are interested, please either sign up here with your email or email me directly.
