Kicking these rounds off!

11.01 - Cordarrelle Patterson, WR, MIN
I went into the draft targeting either Tavon Austin or Cordarrelle Patterson as high upside receivers, who could be this years Randall Cobb. I wasn't planning on grabbing both, but with Patterson still sitting there in round 11, and no one else I was enamored with, I went for it. Should return punts, kicks, and have enough targets to be a solid contributor. Luckily as my WR4, I can stash him on the bench for a few weeks and hopefully have a good idea on whether he'll be a boom or bust.

12.14 Chandler Jones, DE, NE
I was hoping to grab two of the top 10 DL in earlier rounds, but picking at the turn, and missing out on a run left me in round 12 without any. Not wanting to risk the next wave, I decided to jump on Jones. Through the first half of last season, Jones was a top 10 DL. He slowed down as the season went on, but there's plenty of upside without much competition for sacks. NE should face a lot of passing, and getting to play Buffalo and the Jets 4 times per season should provide plenty of point opportunities.

13.01 - Harrison Smith, S, MIN
I always find these middle rounds to be the toughest. Go with a high upside WR or RB that may end up being the steal of the draft, or picking up a consistent IDP that I need to round out my roster with. I ended up going the boring route and picking who I felt was the best IDP on the board. There were around 5 or 6 DE's that I felt I should have a shot at later in the draft, so I went with the highest ranked IDP on the board. Smith was a consistent tackler last year, and I don't see any reason not to expect the same this year. High tackling DB's always seem to be tough to find, so glad to lock up one of the best.

14.14 - Carlos Dunlap, DE, CIN
There were still 4 or 5 DL left that I was interested in, but decided that I should take one hear rather than get burned later. Dunlap was the one that seemed to stick out a little higher than the others. Put up very good numbers with limited snap counts last season, but signed a big contract. The DL rotation in Cin is a concerning, and there's plenty of competition for sacks, but hoping the big contract gives them motivation to play Dunlap more often than not.

15.01 - Isaiah Pead, RB, STL
Handcuff time. Hopefully Richardson gets the lions share of the work, and Pead ends up being nothing more than insurance. If he does find himself in a time share, there's hopefully enough talent there to remain valuable.

11.08 Jerrell Freeman, LB IND It's time to start filling out those IDP's now that the core is set. I don't know much about Freeman, but he put up good numbers last year and that's good enough for me.

12.07 Eric Weddle, S SD This was a tough pick. I knew I wanted a DB here but it was hard to choose from what was available, as I didn't have very accurate projections for DB (no PD's in the projections). This tended to favor safeties, and I went with a good one here. Not an inspiring pick, but a solid guy who should put up his 7-8 pts every week.

13.08 Jermaine Gresham, TE CIN I got to this round and realized that 12 teams already had their TE. I probably could have waited on this one but what the heck, took Gresham, who is probably as good as any of the last 6 TE's that went off the board. I tend not to overdraft TE - it's the C of fantasy football.

14.07 Isaac Redman, RB PIT With Bell injured and the rest of the Steelers pack of RB's relatively uninspiring, there is a hole here that Redman could step into. He will have his opportunity and if he catches fire in the first couple weeks, I could have a starting RB in the 14th round. I really like this pick.

15.08 Philip Rivers, QB SD The bottom half of the QB's stuck around for a long time in this draft, and there were still plenty of picks, even in the 15th round. My first choice was Carson Palmer, with Rivers being my second. Just a few years removed from being a 3rd round pick, Rivers is probably the best backup QB I've ever had in this league. I could probably win if I had to go with Rivers as my QB every week.

11.14 Big Ben, QB, PIT 12.01 Fred Jackson, RB, BUF - What if the Kaep magic doesn't happen this year? Of course, some would argue that if that happens to be true, it would be better to have a 2nd QB who is still going to be alive by the time he is needed…but as I have said…Go big or go AA!!!! This definitely sets me up for the scenario of having the wrong QB in the line-up and/or having Big Ben be useless as he tries to set the record for being sacked the most in one season.

I was looking for another RB and I know…I know…Spiller is going to get every carry for the Bills this year…but you never know….

13.14 Brandon Myers, TE, NYG 14.01 Anthony Spencer, DE, DAL - Eli likes throwing to the tight end…Brandon can catch. Word is that he can't block which might cause coach to have a heart attack. Hopefully the right balance can be achieved.

Word was that Spencer was recovering nicely…now the word is not so much and who knows when he will be playing. Will have to see if I can hang on to him to find out.

Joseph Randle, RB, DAL - Maybe offers me something…maybe never sees the field…
