AAA Managers - You are each invited (although not required) to post your general reflections on the completed draft. Comments may be as detailed or as general as you wish. As a catalyst, free free to comment on any of the following:

1. What was your plan/strategy entering the draft? Were you able to execute as you had planned?

2. What were your favorite picks? Which do you wish you could do over?

3. Looking over all of the teams, which ones do you like the most (other than your own)?

4. What surprised you most about the draft?

5. If you could start over, would you do anything differently?

Non-managers are also welcome to post general comments on the draft, and to raise questions.

First off, thanks damoose for commishing this league. It's a thankless task that I am always glad someone else is doing.

1. My strategy was pretty straightforward - take ADP and then pick the best available player the first 5 rounds. Slough on WRs since I can't seem to pick them anyway. Get enough good IDPs early since the days of easy pickings on that side of the ball are long gone. And don't be afraid to gamble a bit to get a difference-maker.

Mission accomplished. When David Wilson fell into my lap in round 2, it took the pressure off and I felt like I could take pretty much anyone. I feel like I have 7 guys that can blow up and win a game or ten for me.

2. Wilson at 2.14 and RG3 at 5.01 look pretty smart right now. We'll see if that lasts. Watt at 4.01 was a bargain compared to other RIFC leagues. No do-overs at this point - Stevie Brown had a bad break but those are the perils of drafting a bit early.

3. I've never been shy about picking (and not picking) teams to do well, regardless of how lousy my track record is. My favorite teams coming out of the draft are loki, gurudan, Syncopats, and Da Bomb. But it's a long slog to the playoffs from here so anything can happen.

4. How undervalued returners seemed to be. I feel like my WR corps is much better than it deserved to be because of this. Other than that, I was surprised at how much the runs matched my expectations.

5. No, I like my chances with this team. Anything can happen, but I feel like I am off to a great start.

1. What was your plan/strategy entering the draft? Were you able to execute as you had planned?

Having the 5th pick this year, I felt like a RB was in my future. I am starting to question the value of the 3rd round reversal as RBs are dropping in value. The days of 95% of teams going RB/RB in the first two rounds are over. In season management and luck go further in determining a winner, but I feel like our current format rewards picking late in round 1 over early, with the exception of #1 this year.

2. What were your favorite picks? Which do you wish you could do over?

Since we drafted so early and I wasn't prepared, I'm not in love with my round 1 pick, A. Foster, which isn't a good sign. Looking at the draft comparison to the other leagues, I got good value a number of times.

3. Looking over all of the teams, which ones do you like the most (other than your own)?

I don't think anyone looks exceptionally strong, but no one looks weak either. This might be the most balanced league I've seen in the RIFC format.

4. What surprised you most about the draft?

How quickly the QBs were taken. The difference between the #1 QB and the #12 this year wasn't that great, so unlike prior years where getting a Manning or Brady could win you the league, I think any of the top 12 could finish in the top 3. With the QBs going so early, I elected to focus on other areas, knowing that while QB would not be a strength, I should be able to exploit match-ups and be competitive. My one mistake was taking two QBs with the same bye, as I didn't care for my other options. I think it is week 8, so my opponents that week might get some freebies.

5. If you could start over, would you do anything differently?

Not lose the lottery of what spot I got to pick from? Picking 5 this year was no better then picking 2nd or 8th really.

Possibly starting the draft later, we drafted very quickly over all, and not having to play 2 pre-season games would have been preferable. But, our commish got the draft done, so thank you. Nothing is worse then starting later and then having to continually nudge people to pick, so I understand the start date.

MY STRATEGY this year was to select rb's in the first two rounds.when i was offered my choice of picks i selected 7th, knowing from already drafting 2 teams at YAHOO,that the pool would be pretty thin picking closer to the bottom of the order.
MY FAVORITE PICKS would have to be michael vick in rd. 10 and steve smith and mike williams in rds, 6 and 7.I expect vick to be a game changer if he can stay healthy.
MY FAVORITE TEAMS would have to be GOLDCLEATS, SANFORDORS, DPR and NY TITANS.
BIGGEST SURPRISE would be jj watt going 3rd rd. i had him tARGETED at maybe rd 7. he was a monster last year, but teams will adjust. remember def players of the year james harrison and clay matthews
DO OVER not really. i had TOM BRADY the year he was lost for the season in his first game. so the winner of our league will be the team most healthy and one who finds an RGIII OR DOUG MARTIN at the bottom of their draft. good luck to all

RIBC AAA 2013 Draft Recap

1. What was your plan/strategy entering the draft? Were you able to execute as you had planned?
I wanted to have 2 RBs and 2 WRs in the 1st 4 rounds and would vary if Brees or Rodgers were available. I almost was able to draft one of them, but Slowhand and donkey hunters nipped me at the wire. Brady was available but I decide to wait on a QB. I also did not want to be hurt at TE this year and was able to draft Witten (painful for a Giants fan).
2. What were your favorite picks? Which do you wish you could do over?
I like my WRs. In previous years Andre Johnson has been ranked almost on Calvin Johnson’s level, and he did gain 1500 yards in 2012. He just has to find the end zone more often. My 2nd round pick, Demaryius Thomas, has Peyton Manning throwing to him. Hopefully Eric Decker and Wes Welker will not eat into his production. Kenbrel Thomas could be a strong sleeper with Tom Brady throwing to him.
3. Looking over all of the teams, which ones do you like the most (other than your own)?
I cannot see a standout team right now. In all the years that I have played in these leagues the teams that succeeded were the ones not hurt by injuries as in the NFL. Two managers like my team, which is usually the proverbial kiss of death. I do not particularly like my team, but again I think that the final results will be determined by injuries and to lesser degree sleepers that pan out.
4. What surprised you most about the draft?
The draft had no real surprises except that I was able to choose the number 2 draft slot picking 13th.
5. If you could start over, would you do anything differently? If you could start over, would you do anything differently?
No.
6. Bonus question:
My usual start of season question. Does anyone besides Toral know who The Titans of New York were?

I had forgotten, but when I saw it was the former name of the Jets, it recalled a bit of trivia. Weren't they named the Titans, because Titans were bigger than Giants?

I cannot answer that one, but I will check with my brother, an exceptionally avid Jets fan.
