0 Subject: G24 2014 Two additional Votes on DST

Posted by: Ref

There is enough support to ask for two more votes. Please vote Yes or No for these two questions. If you haven't already voted on our other vote, please do so immediately so we can close it.

1. Would you like for points scored against your teams' D/ST not to count if the points scored were on a play from that team's Offense or Special Teams? In other words, if you have the Browns D/ST and the Browns' QB throws a pick 6 it currently counts against your DST even though they were not even on the field. This change would eliminate those points against your DST. need 13 Yes votes to pass.

2. Eliminate the DST altogether and replace it with a flex IDP position. You would get time to replace your keepers obviously if you have kept a DST. This would need 16 votes to implement.

1. Depends on what happens with the other vote... if the other vote is YES, then NO to this. If the other vote is NO, then YES to this.

2. NO

If we want to wipe out the teams and redraft the league I vote No on 2 as I suspect would quite a few others. Just can't change keeper rules midstream. No fair way to do it.

While we are paying attention, how about this time change?

Would like to follow suit with RIFC and change the time waivers run each week.

Waivers would run at 7:30pm ET Wednesday and FCFS would open at 10:30pm ET Wednesday.

During the postseason (weeks 14-16), the waiver schedule will be pushed back to Thursday so that any stats corrections (which might conceivably impact playoff results from the prior weekend) can be processed. For surviving teams in the championship bracket, blind bidding will take place at 3pm ET on Thursday, with free agents released for FCFS pickup at 6pm ET.

This is what yr proposed: does this work if #1 passes?

just looked into the MFL rules and they support the option of only counting offensive + special team scoring, but not scoring after offensive turnovers:

In the For Commissioner > Setup > Custom Scoring System Setup you have three options:

1) Total Points Allowed: This is the total points scored against a team in a game. (This matches the scoreboard points at the end of a game).
2) Special Teams Points Against: This is the points scored against a team on Special Teams, which only includes points scored on Punt Returns and Kickoff Returns. It also includes any conversion points scored after the TD (extra point or a 2 Pt Conversion)
3) Offensive Points Against: This is the points scored against a team on Offense, which only includes points scored via Passing and Rushing TDs as well as Field Goals.

You can then individually use the Total Points Against or the Offensive Points Against categories or can combine "Offensive Points Against" + "Special Teams Points Against" scoring categories. You can hold the CTRL key down when highlighting both of these rules in the "Available Rules Column" and then click the "Add to Rules" to combine them to count as one rule.

combining option #2 and #3 is what I am thinking of.

Judy 24: I believe the commishes may set waiver times at their choice, Consultation is good, of course.

I myself would prefer that FCFS runs earlier than 10:30 PM. Even 9:30 would be I guess, OK. Or is that too early for folks on the Left Coast?

25 and 27 I think you are both saying the same thing.

The vote was based on YR's proposal. It is no longer total points scored against a team, but only if the offense scores on them. Therefore, if the D scores against that team's O, or a ST return for a TD happens against that team, it will not count. I also believe that resulting XPs following those plays will be discounted if I read YR's post correctly.

Ref: yr said "combining option #2 and #3 is what I am thinking of."(last line of the quoted post).

#2 is special teams points. They're gone now, by vote. That was my point.

regarding waiver timing:
I would be ok if FCFS after waivers would be as late as 7pm ET. If it is afterwards I am screwed because I am asleep. This means I would need to use waivers more often for my needs, which would also mean that I will be in the bottom third in most weeks which means that I will get way less valuable players in some weeks.
I may still be lucky and get 1 of the 3 LB's I am targeting when I wake up, but what are the odds for that? additionally it would be impossible to get a valuable player that got dropped by another team which could help my team.

I have no problem in RIFC because of the blind bidding process where I can use $1 amounts for players I target without losing too much. I just need to bid for more players than I used to.

Initially I assumed that DEF is meant as Defense and Special teams. Does the DEF get 6 pts for a kick return TD? if yes then my assumption was that they should also suffer if they give one up, because they are on the field at that time.

32: That is not how I set up the vote? Did I misunderstand and do it wrong?

Waivers: Why would we change the existing times? Players unable to get to computer?

33 . Yes for FCFS FA pick ups. Need to set time for that when most of elegies can get to computer...

Waivers not so important since there will be a pause between them and FCFS FA.

Our team def is DST -- defense and special teams, so yr proposal 2 and 3 are correct???

I think it is both 2 and 3. We didn't remove DST points, we just said that INT or FR that were returned for a TD should NOt count against the DST since they were not on the field to prevent such an event.

Anyone else wanna come in with their understanding???

No that's not what he said. He doesn't want DST penalized for offense mistakes. DST do allow TD's on ko and punt returns, kicking is all special teams!

As long as D/STs are still penalized for points that they didn't actually allow, (QB threw pick sixes and kick/punt returns for TDs, we should make no changes.

I agree with this example given:

What I do not agree with and did not realize this proposal included this was to EXCLUDE points scored by special teams again special teams like kick off and punt return and blocked kick touchdowns,.

I would not have voted for it under that understanding,
