Something I need to know before going any further in modifying the standings Excel file. Are you going to be using this with Excel 97 or Excel 2000? I'm using Excel 2000, but that won't help me make it compliant with 97.

Hmm... that poses a problem. The way the standings are currently set up, all the information is taken directly from the cells that the information is expected to be in (as opposed to searching for the appropriate cell). Unfortunately, the location of the information in 97 after being downloaded is completely different than the locations in 2000. I could build in the search capabilities, but without 97, I would never be able to test and tweak it. Hmmm... so where do we go from here? I still have an old disk with Office 97 on it, and if someone can assure me that installing Excel 97 will not interfer with Excel 2000, then I can install it and work from that. Otherwise, your best bet would be to find 2000 somewhere or dig up a volunteer who has 97 to modify it. The modifications look to be pretty straightforward from what I can tell.

I don't think you should have a problem installing excel 97.

I know that the installetion of 2000 is deleting the previos versions, but I don't think it's also the other way around.

I currently have excel 2000 and excel 97 both installed on this machine. Just be sure to install them into different directory structures. Both appear to work fine on my machine for some time now.

BTW, the order they were installed was:
1.) Complete Office 2000-Small Biz Edition install.
2.) Excel 97 from the Office 97 CD, into different file location.

RSF I emailed you this morning in return to your email.

question for you guys. I had a cable modem installed the other day. since then I can not get the excel programs for SW to work. I know they still work because Jumpball did the LRV for me last night. any ideas why it does not work now? do I have to do anything with firewalls? One more thing-when I end the program it says that the login did not work.

That's weird. I'm with @home, and all of my Excel files work just fine. Did you install a firewall? Firewall should only be an issue if you've installed one on your computer. Try opening a web page as you would a file. (Not sure if this works like it does in 2000, but I just click the open file command and type in the URL.)

I did not create a firewall. I even cleaned out my cache. I have found that SW is very slow now and I have to reload several times for it to come up. It is the only website that I have found that I have problems with. That only started when I went with cable also.

I would run a ping and/or a traceroute to find out what/where the delays are coming from. I would also try contacting your service provider to see if they could look into the delays. Good luck to you, though.

Well hell fire an' tarnation!

I forgot my Office 97 CD at home today, so I won't get to work on the program until at least tomorrow. I'm gonna try to have it finished by this weekend, philflyboy. If you're still having problems with your cable modem, I can try to run them either from work or home, but I can't guarantee anything. It sometimes takes 4-5 minutes just to run the BaseballRosters program on 10 teams from both locations.

philflyboy -

Bad news. What I thought was Office 97 disks were Office 95 disks. *sigh*

I don't have a copy of Excel 97.

Sludge-RSF sent me a copy of what he used to post the temporary standings. I can make do with that one. Thanks for trying!!! Maybe we can get a copy to you for the next sports that are coming up.

If you, or anyone, want's to post the add/drops in advance you need to "trick" the macro into thinking it is Sunday already by changing the date. Otherwise it will pull last week's roster. Just passing this on.

Good idea for these weeks with early games. Lets us see who the competition is holding for comparison in this weeks games (Head-To-Head).

RSF do you know what makes it post the non-sortable stats in alphabetical order instead of by points? It's an intermittent problem. Possibly an order of operation thing.

The latest version (1.3) should have corrected that. It was an order of operations thing. The Head-To-Head sorted the list by names, then was not resorting to Gurupie rank, in v1.2. In v1.3, I have it resort it to Gurupie rank to fix the problem.
