in case you forgot:

Congrats to WG for an impressive 20-6 season as well as the playoff winner and high total point scorer!

He also earned $5 off his 2017 dues by having the highest score on the final weekend: 144.23.

I think it is pretty safe to say that Dak and Zeke did the trick for him. What a pair to carry forth!!!
These were his comments on drafting Dac at 2.02:
Was hoping Perkins, Boyd, or Fuller would fall but alas they all go right before me. Maybe reach on Dak but hot preseason and Romo handcuff. (Comments Added Thu Aug 25 9:14:58 a.m. ET 2016)

TD reviewed and simplified the rules for us. I will be sending you a copy via email in the near future. we will also look at the suggestions made in January for options this season.

MFL has a new and improved waiver/drop/add format. I haven't looked at it at all. Will be using guru's guidance here.

Hello! Thanks for the nomination Slizz.

I'd like to be considered as a backfill for a team.

I'm in G20 for baseball and am actively engaged and talk regularly with many of the members who are also in this league. I've been in many football leagues, including keeper leagues, but none that are this deep. As with G20 baseball, it's a special league to have so many deeply involved league members and I like the challenge of scraping the bottom of the barrel to find valuable assets that only become relevant in such leagues. Please let me know if any information is needed and thanks for the consideration!

Email from meatwads:

I'm writing to let you know I'm interested in joining your football league. I was made aware of an opening by WG and Slizz.

I've played fantasy football as far back as 1998, so I have a long track record and it won't take long for me to get familiar with the league. I currently play in G20 Baseball, G20 Hoops, as well as the RotoGuru Invitational leagues. I'm an active manager, in draft prep, in season transactions, as well as trading.

I appreciate your consideration.

Thanks,

Email from tom bobo

This is really good information and helpful. It does really sound like a deeply invested league with the depth allowed. I get the commitment level to be successful in that regard and feel that aligns with my enjoyment of fantasy sports.

I have not had any Rotoguru experience with football leagues. My connection there is through the Poli Baseball League. I believe I've been in that league for 5 years now, having inherited a team, deconstructing and re-building it.

Fantasy Football wise I have been a part of 2 keepers leagues with other groups of friends. One is definitely a legacy league. Been in it since 2002. Only 6 people in that league, but we do use IDPs there. Of more recent times I am in an ESPN league with more stringent rules yet broader than what this league would offer. I am about to enter my 3rd season there.

Ok then.

The voting for the 2 new managers is really close. I am ready to flip a coin.

Emails have been sent to laggards.

Hang in there.

Meanwhile, look at thread for new rules. I would love to have a "parliamentarian" so I can focus on other stuff. We absolutely need to make a decision about how we vote on decisions.
Please put your comments there.

Also anyone want to volunteer to be parliamentarian to run the votes/polls? If we decide to go that way. Shoot me an email with your comments if you might want to try it.

Total will be our parliamentarian. He sent me a good analysis of what we need to do to clarify our votes/polls, and other decisions. He is currently reviewing TD's rewriting of the league rules and will be posting ideas shortly.

The key is that you must keep up to date and participate if you have an opinion.

Please use the rule changes thread for ideas.

DRAFT ORDER:.
Doug posted the list in #4 above in the 2016 thread. It needs to be confirmed.

He asked:

"I made this by looking at reg season standings (for bottom 16)... then compared to playoff seedings as a double-check.

Everything lines up except on the double-check except for Seattle/SF/Detroit. I have Seattle in the 12 slot based on all 3 teams having 14-12 records and not making the playoffs... however Seattle had the fewest points of these teams. Why then was Seattle seeded ahead of SF and Detroit in the Wanna Be Bowl? Is that a seeding error? We use a different methodology for the seedings? Or did I screw up somewhere?"

Would appreciate others to take a look.

I will ask guru to do the lottery once we figure that out.

Thanks.

Judy has accepted my application to be Parliamentarian, something I suggested last year in post 82 of this thread.

I suggested that the task of the position be to:

1) invite rules suggestions on this MB, remembering suggestions made at the end of the previous year;

2) take up issues where a rule change proposal was likely in a sensible order, and invite managers to give their thots on these rules determining proposals HAD A CHANCE to pass and so might be put to a vote;

3) make sure the proposals to be put forth for a vote were properly worded to fin within our Constitution and Rules;

4) conduct a vote, right here on this message board, where questions could be answered;

5) badger people to vote, with gradually increasing force;

6) count the vote and report the results.[slightly edited from last year]

This is what I propose to do, hopefully with little need for the "badgering" part.

There are three things to mention right now:

1) the rules discussion will switch over to the rules change thread right now; the analysis that Judy referred to in the post above etc. will go over there;

2) very soon after our new members are admitted, I will proceed with discussion of the idea we need to consider before we can consider any other proposal: reducing the threshold for a major change from 2/3 of the whole league to 2/3 of those voting. After a few days for discussion, we will start voting on whatever proposal or proposals on this issue are being put up. Voting right away will be a kind of warm-up and practice for the rest of the rules change proposals.

3) while this discussion is going on I will proceed with the task of gathering the ideas that have been put forth at the end of last year and so far this year. You can suggest your own ideas, or comment on ideas already put forward at the rule change thread if you want; or you can wait until formal consideration of an idea or group of ideas begin.

Recommendations as to how we should proceed may be sent to me by e-mail.

Re: #4, I double-checked... looks good except Seattle/Detroit need to swap. Nerf found that correction in last year's thread... because MFL in their infinite wisdom has the default standings set to update each team's PF, but NOT their W-L, during the playoffs. So using the proper week 13 PF values, Seattle and Detroit swap 12/14 slots... SF stays at 13.

Meanwhile, looking at last seasons dates, it looks like for 2017 we can do this:

Keepers due Monday August 21 at 7:30 PM EDT
You need to enter them on MFL. You can change them until I push the final button.
Draft begins Wednesday August 23 at noon.
Straight draft, no snake. 11 rounds.

DO YOU WANT A TIMED DRAFT? If so how much time?
OR START UNTIMED UNTIL MONDAY AUGUST 28 and then ???

Once draft ends all FA will be locked.
Waiver request option will go in after draft ends.
First waiver will run weds noon in time for opening night.

Please check this out and see if this will work.

Judy:

With all respect, you always start drafting too early. That's a big problem when the draftstart has to be somewhere in the same area as important preseason games. It's why I asked to be in the other league in RIFC AAA this year for the first time.

You should make keepers due August 23 (not 21) and start the draft August 25 (not 23) Start a 4-hour clock when and if the draft starts to fall behind. If necessary, shorten it later.

Trust your players! They trust you!

Great point, Toral.

If we want to have the draft as late as possible (most desirable), we cannot afford any lengthy delays.

Folks joked about Ref and his clock obsession, but we drafted as late as possible and ALWAYS finished on time. It's a delicate balance that requires a strict clock. Especially in a league this size.

Judy, I am fine with whatever you decide.

Toral, however, I do recall missing the start one year and not having time for waivers and F/A pickups in another season and THAT is why Ref went from a timed clock to a "cumulative clock" to speed up the draft (CBS league back then). If you ran out of "cumulative clock-time", you were skipped and we kept on drafting. Lost a couple of managers along the way, but c'est la vie!

As far as the RIFC leagues, they'll get marching orders from Guru as soon as he finishes the RIFC set up using accumulated clock time to determine a points based system to reduce the amount of time each coach has to pick. I'll let him explain that to all RIFC leagues.

Judy, do what works for you. If you use the auto-draft queues, you'll have no problem. Judy, do that witchy thing you do, JUST BE SAFE!!

There is one trade from 2016:
"Includes swap of Indy's 2017 9th round pick and Oakland's 2017 10th round pick":
INDY 9.10 for OAK 10.04
I believe it is entered correctly

There is a 2017 trade:

No. I got Matty ice and he got ajayi from me whom he flipped with hopkins for bell.

See 57.

Matty ice played for the HS I taught in so I occasionally watched him play way back when. I have no QB on my current team so I was quite desperate. I really wanted wentz, but Slizz wouldn't give him up!!

Chargers Team Defense - predicted by many to be a top 10 unit this year, they've got a slew of young players.

Kenneth Dixon, RB - out for the season, but a really nice dynasty stash for a young rebuilding team. he is still on my potential keeper list, so i'm struggling to move him, but he might be for the best.

DeAndre Washington, RB - another young RB. could amount to something. could be a bust. worth a gamble for a young team.

Kenny Stills, WR - in most leagues, he's a waiver wire guy. in a deep league like this, he's a contributor.

i've also got a few IDPs as well.

I meant to post this a couple days ago but forgot. I had reviewed the transactions from last years playoffs, and the following players are not allowed to be keepers this year per our rules. The 8 playoff teams are allowed to make adds and drops, but cannot keep any of those players the following year. We should start doing this after the season is over and drop players from rosters so we don't have to remember months later.

I was able to accept. When I looked before it said i couldn't propose due to league calendar. MFL always so easy to figure out. Just like putting keeper selection under "Reports" header. Makes perfect sense.

I remember last year with waivers I couldn't set up a waiver claim on like Sunday afternoon. Is that still going to be an issue?

HOLD UP!

I don't think that draft order is correct. I saw that Doug changed it because of the flaw in the standings that I saw, but that actually changed it back to the way it was. It should be Detroit 12, and Seattle 14. See G24 in season thread for 2016, post 116 and 117.

I'm sorry I didn't catch this sooner.

FYI - Under the Home page Main Topic "For Owners", the "Wireless" portion under "franchise Setup" tab - you can put in your cell phone # and receive draft updates as they occur as texts. (Data and message rates may apply)

I am on an unlimited plan so it's not a problem for me (at home most of the time so N/A to me.

You may have to get a wireless "authorization code" from Judy, I don't recall when we moved from MFL,

It works great! ds

You just have to email Judy with the pick. MFL needs to allow skipped picks to be entered by the manager.

I think waivers run @ noon Weds. At 3p, all players who were available for waivers become FCFS. However, any players who were DROPPED during the Weds waiver run get put on waivers for Thursday's run. And so on. But if a player was available for Weds waivers and not acquired, they remain FCFS until their game kickoff and aren't subject to the additional waiver runs.

I think.
