Subject: G20 Dispersal Draft Vote - Closes 7/11

As there are a lot of ideas on how to handle the draft - the main point of contention SEEMS to be whether we should draft rookies/current free agents seperate from the 4 teams of dispersed players or combine them.
Please share your opinion - There have been cases and arguments made for both sides and although there may be more decisions on exactly how we break the draft down - the biggest fork in the road is One draft or Two.
Please vote below - One Combined Draft or Two seperate drafts. |

Single draft, which will allow the fairest distribution of players.

[taxman]He asked for opinions in the opener. I don't think you can dispute that Single-draft is much fairer than 2 drafts. You just don't really care if it's fair or not.
Anyway---here is my real opinion on this vote: Dispersal should not even be up for vote. It clearly calls for an unfair distribution which punishes a subset of teams for the work that they have put in over recent years. Any viewpoint that openly admits to taking advantage of contraction to try and level the playing field is inherently biased and should not be tolerated.

Swing - Your sole priority / concern is the “work” you’ve put in with your own team. That much is blatantly clear. You also obviously have no clue what the purpose of a keeper / dynasty league is. More competition breeds retention. Contraction is a rare occurrence, or at least should be, for any dynasty / keeper league. Your approach does nothing to curtail turnover. In fact, it just pours gasoline on it. Take your blinders off.
Also, call me whatever you want but I would benefit from one draft vs two so don’t call me selfish. You, on the other hand, are more worried about yourself than the health of the league as a whole. That is indisputable.

Taxman - youre not wrong I should have phrased it better to limit tangets here
All - lets keep this thread to JUST VOTES. Take the Discourse to the season thread.
Lets be clear. There are no rules against voting or taking actions in the best interest of your team. It is certainly better than not voting OR purposefully voting on an option with the intent to damage the league.
It may be many of our opinions that owners should vote in the best interest of the league and others may weigh that interest slightly or far behind the interest of their own team.
Lets also remember this is all in the confines of the game of fantasy football. If someone actually calls someone else Selfish or similar it can be taken out of that context so it would be better if we didnt get close to those gray areas.

[ttucowboy] No, my concern is the integrity of the league. I want consistency in the rules. Not backhanded rules created to redistribute power at every opportune moment. Play redraft if you don't like certain teams having an "advantage". If you don't like how the supplemental draft works, then propose a real rule change instead of hiding it within contraction. You seem to think that a one-time "F-U" to certain managers is good for league morale and retention. I couldn't disagree more. Yes, I stand up for the "good teams", because dispersal is a real F-U to them and yes I would consider it a real F-U to me.

I’d like to take this to the season thread, but that one appears to be hacked (I’ll blame Russia).
Swing - We’ll agree to disagree since we are in separate alternatives of reality. I’m not sure how you arrived at any of this being backhanded. Further, comparing contraction to “every opportune moment” is not reality. I’ve also never had a complaint about the supplemental draft, and I’ve been in the league since it’s inception nearly 20 years ago, so I’m not sure how that was concocted up in your head either.
My thoughts would be the same if I had the best team, worst team or middle of the pack. This is a classic longterm (me) vs short term (you) view. One final thing I’ll say is I, ultimately, don’t have any problem with someone voting for self-interests but call it what it is. Trying to put lipstick on it is insulting to those who care about the league’s viability not only today but in the future.

Swing's entire argument appears to be based on three things:
1. What is best for his team. 2. That a draft should be "fair" and that weaker teams should not have the ability to improve. 3. That four teams folding is a normal thing, and any attempt to redistribute players that does not benefit his team are "backhanded rules created to redistribute power at every opportune moment," making the presumption that a once in league history occasion is "everyone opportune moment.'
