Guys,

You should now be able to perform the following, through the league website :
- Set your starting lineup
- Submit trade offers
- Waive players
- Add players

Once a trade is agreed upon by both parties, it will then be sent out to the league for approval/rejection, for two days. If 50% of the league rejects the trade, the trade is rejected. The commisioner holds the right to overrule any trade, without 50% disproval, that is overwhelmingly lopsided in his view.

Currently, the software only handles two types of actions to occur for adding/dropping players. a) No Hold (done immediately through the software) b) Hold for commish approval
It will not allow me to set a time (ie 48 hrs) for transactions to be held. Therefore, I'm sure some transactions might take 48-55 hours depending on my computer availability. I have computer access 24/7 therefore I cant imagine transactions taking much longer than 48 hours, if any. We need to choose the lesser of two evils in this situation.

As of right now, I have the software setup for commish approval, therefore if you want a transaction to go through, you can submit it but it will have to wait until I can approve it. If the league decides to change this action, I would be more than glad to do so.

Oops...forgot to mention. The priority queue is reverse the initial draft order. Once you've made a FA/Waiver transaction, you are placed at the end of the queue. So starting out the Priority Queue looks like this :

Reguarding the Injured Reserve slots. I like rfs' rules for my other league so here they are.

You may place up to two (2) players on the league IR. The player must qualify for IR eligibility for one of the following reasons:
1) NFL has him on the P.U.P. list
2) NFL has him on Injured Reserve (out for the year)
3) NFL or NFL team has suspended the player
4) Then player is listed in the weekly “official NFL injury report as ‘doubtful’ or ‘out’ Note: ‘questionable’ or ‘probable’ DO NOT QUALIFY.

AP10 - So in that case we can put a player on IR _before_ they actually miss a game, as long as they are listed as "doubtful" or "out", right? When is that report released each week?

Secondly, so instead of the first-come/first- serve we are maintaining the 48 hour waiver period, it's just not being handled "automatically"... correct? And if we want to see what claims are currently pending (made in the last 48 hours), we can do that by going to the transactions page, right?

Finally, I'm interested in trading for a backup LB if anyone is interested in a QB prospect (David Carr) in exchange... specifically a backup LB whose bye week isn't 4, 8, or 10.

Also forgot to mention, you can not put a player on IR until after the first week of games.

48 hour waiver/trade period is in place. Not automatic but manually done by me.

Pending trades & claims. I thought the software sent out an email for these but apparently no one has received them. I will work on getting that in place. Currently I know of no way to view pending transactions via the league website. Maybe I'm wrong, I'll try to find out.

An email was sent to the league with the list of current pending transactions. If you have not receieved this email, let me know ASAP. Also, from this point forward, when a transaction occurs, an email will automatically be sent to the league.

The emails are a bit overkill. I dont need to know when another teams roster is set. I can read that myself. And the transaction emails dont even say what transaction is taking place. I would prefer not to have the spam.

The only reason I can see for roster drops to need a pending period is to prevent some disgruntled manager from roster dumping, but (a) I don't think that will be a problem with this group, and (b) in that rare case we can always retroactively correct it. So I vote to get rid of the 48 hour period for drops (I didn't realize it even existed... I assumed the add/drop was just one process, not two seperate ones). I mean, if I put in a claim on player (a), I'm going to drop player (b), but only if my claim on player (a) is successful. I shouldn't have to drop player (b) and then "roll the dice" hoping my waiver claim for (a) goes through. Has this been specifically addressed? Does the drop necessarily take place before or after the acquisition, or are they essentially simultaneous? It seems from what Derek is saying is that the drop takes place beforehand, and is not conditional on successful acquisition. This doesn't seem right to me somehow.

Anyway, as for notification, I would generally like to know who has been released to the free agent pool. I assumed you could only drop when you add, so I figured I'd find out about drops via waiver claims. The only problem with the current system that I perceive is that if a manager drops a player and doesn't immediately make a claim... then there's a free agent floating around out there who the rest of us don't know about until the manager eventually decides to make a claim (though, once again, I don't see any advantage or logic to doing this at all... just hold on to the dropped player until you are ready to actually make a waiver claim!) I think this might help to keep things simpler for all parties, particularly since notification appears to be manual on Derek's part.

Doug, I agree with you. I think ADD/DROP's should be one process. You dont drop a player until a player has been added. As with the current system, once I approve a DROP, you can view that DROP under the transactions tab therefore there is no player 'floating'.

Since this software handles pickups strangely, here is my suggestion.

a) Once I receive a drop request, I auto approve immediately and remove that player from his team.
b) That player will be 'unavailable' to the rest of the league until the player, the dropping manager, wants to add clears. If no add is submitted within 24 hours after I process the drop, the dropped player will return to his prior managers roster. (Therefore the longest a player would be unavailable would be 60 hours)
c) ADD requests would take 2 days of pending time

I'm going to give this decision until the end of the day. Unless if there are some objection, the rules I've outlined above A-C are going to be in affect as of 9pm EST tonight. The season is looming, and 96 hours to make one move isnt going to work.

If you have a current WAIVE pending, they will be approved and you will be able to ADD a player at 9pm EST.

I may have missed the explanation, but why is the entire league told what players we want to add to our teams? I have never played in a league where that has happened and I cant see why it is necessary. Frankly, I would prefer it if the other teams didnt know what players I want to place on my team.

Forgot to note...

There is a bug with the software. Up to 2 days after the lineup submission date, you cant set a new lineup for next week. Even during the preseason, the software is considering the lineup submission date as last Sunday. If you are having problems setting a lineup, try again on Tuesday after noon EST. This should fix it, if not, email me your lineup and I'll make sure its submitted properly.

Find one you like (helmet site is linked in the left hand nav of our league site), copy the URL, then go to "edit team info" for your team and paste it into the appropriate box. Don't forget to type in your password (user ID) to make the changes take.

I don't have strong feelings one way or the other... isn't this information disclosed in the real NFL? When a team puts in a claim on a player, the other teams find out about it before it goes through? I could be mistaken, but that was my understanding. If we decide to keep disclosure as is, waiver priority is more valuable, whereas if we move to non- disclosure then waiver priority is less important (easier to slip someone under the radar). For example, I needed a backup LB, but not until week 4... I thought about waiting until week 4 to make the move and not waste my priority spot (#2), unless someone else put in a claim on the guy I wanted. As it turned out, however, I decided to go ahead and make the move now, because Crowell's going to move to my DL after week #1, so I'll need to make an acquisition then anyway. But I wouldn't have even given this a second thought if someone could have taken him without my knowledge. Anyway, I guess I'm just describing the two options... but i don't really have an opinion on it one way or the other. Non-disclosure might mean less work for AP10 (not sending out emails about pending waiver claims, only processed ones), so I probably vote to change it for that reason alone.

Doug is correct. In the NFL everyone knows when an offer is made to a player. This league is to mimic the NFL not other fantasy games such as yahoo, commissioner, etc. I've stated this many times again. I dont mind the work, as long as the league bears with me, like today & last night. My DSL decided to not work. I'll try to get things up ASAP.

derek, here's a question that you should answer to even after week one, when all problems will be hopely fixed:
don't you think that 4 days t change a player are too much? i mean, we've to wait 2 days to waive a player, than other 2 days to take his substitute......don't you think 1 day for each operation would be enough? and isn't it possible to choose the substitute in the istant you waive your player instead that wait 2 days?

I will try to get Shockey & Hearst's stats fixed sometime today. I'm currently working with FanStar support to get the O-Line & Special Teams stats added. This may take well into next week. Dont worry though, I'll make sure everything is correct come the end.

I also expect more players to not have stats after Sunday, I will go through and find each of these players and fix them also. Like I said, please bear with me this first week. All new things take time.

However, I saw OL and ST scores for my team appear on the Matchups page, so I thought maybe the problem had been fixed. Silent D, take a look at the ST and OL scores for both of our teams. They are incorrect, as AP10 has said. That is why the scores I posted above should be the correct ones, again assuming that the scores for the other players are correct.

I'll put it this way:
Ignoring the ST and OL scores, your team scored 205 points. Chi OL scored 10 and Ten ST scored -4. Thus your team (without Burress) scored 211 points. My team scored 189 points, plus 18 for Oak OL and 14 for Ari ST, for a total (without Milloy) of 221.

Not that it matters a whole lot, but I get 8 for my ST, not 2. 32 return yards = 6. 40 yards allowed = -4. 3 punts inside 20 = 6. Am I missing something?

My OL I think should have 5 as well. 80 rushing = 8. 6 sacks = -6. 3 TD's = 3.

The above ST are incorrect. OL is correct.

nerf, the OL only scores on rushing TD's. I see the league site stats TD but it was a typo on my behalf. I'm sure the original league scoring list (in one of these threads) states rushing TD. Sorry for the confusion.

Im not comfortable with "implied" rules. The rule says Touchdowns are worth 1 point and if we are not going to change the draft rules during the draft, I dont see why we should be changing the scoring rules during the season.

I for one based my rankings on total TDs and I think it would be BS to change the rule to what you guys were "meant to say".

I thought it was offensive touchdowns (not including special teams and defensive TDs, since OL is not involved in those plays). Rushing and receiving both make sense to me though, because you need pass protection to get a TD. But under no circumstances would it make any sense to include ST and D TDs as part of an OL stat.

I agree Doug. I meant total offensive TDs when I said total TDs, but I wasnt clear enough. If we're going to deduct points when the OL makes a mistake on passing plays (i.e. a sack), why wouldnt we reward them when they help in a good play (i.e. a passing TD)?

What happened to the scores you posted yesterday AP10 (the ones with corrected OL and ST stats)? I was trailing mike 241-243, but then Troy Brown outscored Bettis 9-5 so I should be up 250-248. Instead, he's up 250- 248. I would like to see what the differences are between yesterday's scores and today's scores and investigate, but I can't do that since it appears the post was deleted.

Doug, the only differences (to my knowledge) are adjusted OL scores (for ALL TD rather than just rushing), ST scores (added Inside 20), added MNF scores.

I see... looks like the difference maybe was the I20 punts, he had 3 to my 1... that's 4 points difference. Doesn't explain the totals, but does explain the difference between being up 2 and down 2. Drat.

When I tried to drop Mungro, that transaction was stopped pending commisoner approval. I then sent you an email telling you which player I would like added to my team.

The drop has since been approved but I have no new player on my team. I'll put the add request through now, but I sent that email at about 11 am on Saturday.

doug a great part of the stats regarding my game are wrong. I haven't checked them all, but ST, OL and a bounch of player's are wrong surely (f.e. ST must be -4 to 28 in my favour i think).....can you check?

LAZIO, dont look at the individual player stats (under recap) on the league webpage. Only the score, your record & individual stats under statistics. The stats list above *SHOULD* be correct.

I have your ST down for 26 pts & your OL for 11.

You are correct, Rod Smith & Deltha scored a few pts.

O'Neal = 2 pts
Smith = 12 pts

I'll get that fixed, even though its not enough to affect the final outcome...

That's twice in 4 weeks that I've gone from winning to losing on the basis of the other team finding discrepancies in their score. For all I know, there have been descrepancies in my score that would have given me the win instead, or maybe not... who knows, the point is I am not going to the take the time every week to find out by doing my scores by hand. This is not a knock on you, Derek, I appreciate all the hard work and time and money you've invested in running this league so I don't really want to look a gift horse in the mouth, but I just had to express that it has been rather frustrating to have this happen twice already. I didn't realize doing our scores by hand would be such a critical part of this league.

Doug, the outcome of last weeks game has NOT been affected. You won. YTD, I only know of one time that your outcome had been affected. Truthfully though, its not like you are being screwed over. If you lost, you lost. I would rather have an accurate decision late than an inaccurate decision. Its not like a late decision will affect anything on your part during the week.

If you can not take the short amount of time it would take to confirm your score along with your opponents score then I have no regrets for illegitimate scores. You had your shot at fixing any errors, if there were any. If you dont have the time to double check the scores, how am I supposed to have the time to double check 12x that?

I understand your concern with accurate scores immediately, but this isnt on my part. I have emailed the software designers multiple times, trying to get this scoring fixed. I have yet to hear a response. I'll shoot them another email this week. Yes it is getting old, but is it really that bad? If you dont have 10 min to double check your score each week, then you dont have the time to affectively manage your team IMO and I would prefer that that person not be in the league.

First off, there are only 2-3 sites/software that can handle individual offense and defensive scoring, like I want this league to be, which means I have a limited amount of choices. This software appeared to be the best bang for your buck. Remember, this is a FREE league, well FREE in terms that I PAID for everyone. I am disappointed thus far with FanStar's product and if things dont straighten out by the end of the year, they will no longer have my busines. Overall, I do think they would have a nice product if they could get our scoring straight...

Doug, the problem with last week was that I had Staley in instead of Hearst. It was a simple mistake that took all of 5 seconds to see. Cuz I knew after Sunday's games that I had won it.

AP10, I appreciate the extra work you have to put in to keep the league running, but it seems that its extra work you wouldnt have to do. Doesn't the Yahoo! engine allow for individual defense? Sure, it wouldnt give as many stats and such but I would sacrifice some stats for a smoothly running engine that was easy to navigate. Hopefully the kinks will get worked out of this software and it will run more smoothly in the next few weeks.
