My motherboard decided to burn up overnight.. So I am using the campus computers. If my pick gets delayed, it only means I haven't made it up to the college yet to see. Hopefully some picks will be made in the next hour or so... While im still here at school.
If not, it will probably be late tonight or tommorow morning till I see the picks.. All my notes and information are on the other computer as well, so might need a lil time to shuffle through what is available.

I give up. I'm just going to pick a receiver that should get some time to catch some balls. All of my queue is gone. Some great picks have been made. I thought several of them would fall to me.

I just couldn't pass up the opportunity at taking a starting QB. Even though the job in Dallas is up in the air at the moment, I believe Hutchinson will win it. AND with the crop of WRs he will be throwing to, I think he can be a serviceable backup for Bledsoe on my team. We'll see......
I would also like to echo ref's comments about the picks that have been made. Great job so far!

I hedged between Hutchinson and Chapman. The chance for a starting RB outweighed the QB for me, even though I doubt Chapman gets a real chance. Delhomme and Holcomb were both high on my list and I toyed with Leftwitch since he was still there. Boller was a bit lower down. I had a pretty large queue generated, but will certainly be making another one by the time this gets back to me (whenever that may be).

Well, we're on pace to complete around August 26th (5.5 days per round, 4 rounds to go, ergo 22 days). I remain optimistic that things will actually pick up a bit and not drag on quite that long... am I just foolish?

Argh! My main computer, the one with all my fantasy football files and email and all that, died this evening. I'm pretty sure it's the power supply... so once I get that fixed I should be back up and running. So just an FYI in case it gets back to me tomorrow (I'm still 12 picks away)... I probably won't be on until the evening at the soonest, and I can't leave a queue since my data is unavailable. =-(

We're not going to re-do the draft order for each round with the trades that have been made since the original post. In case we miss it, it is up to each owner to know if he has a pick left or has forfeited that pick due to roster limitations. You will be penalized if you draft a player and you have too many players. If you make a trade during the draft that takes you over the limit, in that trade you must state the player you are dropping. Also, if you have gotten a pick back due to a trade that initially would have forfeited, give people a heads-up so you are not skipped. The original list is in the draft thread. I have announced trades in that draft thread that involves draft order as well as announced all trades during the draft in the commish msg on the home page on the site.

REF, RFS, Something is up with the site. There are no players on any team and everybody appears to be listed as a free agent.
Will try to make a pick, but is tough figuring out who is available.

Trade to announce
Chicago has traded their 2nd round pick (2.4) for Green Bay's 2nd round pick (2.9) and obtains the rights to Green Bay's 4th round pick (4.9). The deal has been accepted by both parties and will be official when confirmed and accepted.
Green Bay will now be on the clock and I will make my selection when given the ok to proceed.

You guys are creating a lot of work for me!!! But it's great for the league. It was a great trade as skinnee is giving up a pick he wasn't going to get anyhow and CC gets an extra pick for simply moving down a few slots. Works out well for both. Way to use your heads guys! Proceed.

Nice trade skinneej... since you weren't going to be able to use your round 4 pick anyway, you essentially gave up absolutely nothing. =-) Well managed. I can only assume CCRider was short a player since THK has his 3rd round pick.

Thanks, Doug. I had talks with Atlanta doing the same thing at pick 2.1 since they also had one less pick, but I guess AF figured that Bulger might not be around 8 picks later. There were two teams with only 1 QB that picked before mine so he might have been right. As it worked out, I still got the guy I wanted 3 picks later and Chicago gets back a pick that they had traded away. It only cost him 5 spots and he'll probably still get the player he wants. There were no sure bet starting RB left and Allen was the only rb currently listed as first string on the updated depth charts so I felt I had to get him. It was a win-win and I had nothing to lose.

Amazingly, I got both Wiley and Betts. Was torn as to which one to take first, but it worked out well. They might not be that good this year, but needed to make something happen with only having Dayne and Bettis as my starters.
Let Allen go after the disappointing season I had with him last year. Just hope I don't end up regretting it.

Can Pride-What do you want for Toefield? and Coldwater Coy-Same for Peterson?
I can't really check my e-mail but have been looking at the league site when possible. Let me know if possible, thanks.
If I can't obtain Toefield I am putting Fred and A-train on the market. Most likely as a package deal unless I find an offer I want for just 1 of them.
Let me know guys.

Sorry THK,
I'm really in no position to deal Toefield right now. My team is aging and I needed to use the draft to pump some young blood into it. I'm hoping Toefield steps right into the Stacey Mack short yardage/goal line role and can get me some points in the event the Garner should go down. I don't see that happening but you can never be too careful.

You heard Can Pride...Taylor and A-train up for grabs! I would like to package deal them if possible. But if I see a single offer I like I will respond. I am looking to revamp the entire team! New QB and TE already. RB slots are soon to be changed also. Taylor is coming off a great injury free year. He said, "I want to put a stamp of approval on what Fred Taylor can do." He was also quoted saying, "I want to be the most dangerous guy in NFL history." He is looking like good trade material right now, and if there are any potential traders out there...let me know.

promize, I'll look at it but when I was telling rfs about it I only saw 120 mins as the option. I also thought it would be better as the player pool would have been listed for people to choose from.
Please on your selections, put your team name on your pick. I'm pretty sure Dan is Buffalo, but I don't have everyone team memorized and it makes things quicker when I go to add or trade on the site.

Twarpy gave me a suggestion a few days ago about this whole process and it has some merit to it. Before discussing it with the group, I'm going to let rfs play Devils advocate with it and see if the pros outweigh the cons. I have pros and cons about it myself, but if you let others give you their views w/o influencing them, you can see if you're truly on the same page.

Anyhow, I should be ready to pick when it's my turn. Will be leaving straight from hospital to the road, so may be a few hours when I'm out of touch but otherwise, I'll be ready when it's my turn.
Nice pick with Mcaddley, he was one of my 4 guys I had in my q. I looked hard at McGahee in the first round but from everything I read on him there is no way he'll play this year. Good pick for next year though.

McAddley was #2 in my queue too... it was going to be tough to pass on him, but there's someone else who my team needs more. One more pick and I'm in the clear...

Weird how I can get to this site and TSN, but the other sites are all inaccessible as they are labled as gambling! They are sports site for crying out loud. Tell me how fantasy sports are gambling! Even free Yahoo! Oh well.

Jeremy Shockey is quoted in the Daily News of New York magazine as calling Dallas Cowboys coach Bill Parcells a "homo"?
Is the guy stupid or what? I thinks there's probably a few people in NYC that still like Bill. Even if he is the Cowboys's coach. Shockey knocks Parcells in magazine article
I'm posting this over in the football forum, but I thought I'd CC it over here too.

I left the house just before you posted Baldwin and just got back online... I needed Jeff Garcia insurance what with that bulging disk in his back, so I picked up Rattay.
There were a couple other guys available who it was tough to pass on, but I figured I like my team pretty well as-is so it was better to play it safe and avoid disaster. Hopefully one of those other guys will fall to me at my next pick (3.12).
If anyone else feels so inclined to explain their picks, I'm always curious to hear what other managers are thinking. Personally I'm not that into the whole "hold your cards close to your chest" thing, but I understand if others are.

I think presenting the logic behind why a selection is made is great, but I agree with Ref & rfs that we shouldn't discuss players that haven't been selected yet so as not to influence someone else's selection in the future. The logic might be better discussed by IM or email during the draft IMO.
My problem would be explaing why I picked someone w/o stating why I didn't pick another player in their stead.
biliruben, Baldwin, nerveclinic, & madman did a critique of the Political gurupie's 2003 baseball draft. bili ranked everyone & predicted the final standings. It was very interesting to me. Unfortunately (for me), billi's pretty accurate also.

I just went through a very key decision process over whether to make a move or not too. I'm unable to comment on it now, but at the end of the draft I will definately rationlize my decision for anyone interested in getting a glimpse into the methods to my madness.

Doug - My second round pick of Beuerlein was similar to yours. While no bulging disk for Plummer, injuries are inevitable especially at QB. I felt better safe than sorry about having Plummer's backup, at the expense of who I really would have selected.

I just managed to get a minute to get online here on the road. I'm currently getting 19K connection and is UNGODLY slow. I saw the trade, but rfs may need to do it for me. I'll see in a few how long it will take me to get on the site for my pick. The pick I was going to make has huge questions about him now, so now I gotta figure out if I'm still going to get him or pass on him.

Just a "draft speed" update... things did pick up a bit... 4 days for round 2 compared to 5.5 days for round 1. Still only averaging 6 picks a day, but at least it's progress. At the new and improved rate we'll be done by August 21st (3 more rounds at 4 days per round = 12 days).

It's a possibility... although, every pick in Round 2 was already made within a 12 hour window anyway, so I don't know that it will speed things up at all. If anything, it may just prevent things from slowing down. If the clock expires, then the draft proceeds and that person can jump in at anytime with their pick, right? Just like if they pick someone who's already on a team...

Yeah, I don't see any reason a person can't stick around or leave a short queue with someone...even with someone who is not in the league if they didn't want to give away their preferences. It's just disgusting holding people up on weekends and evenings when by rights we should really be rolling.

Can I make a suggestion?
Now that we are getting into the slim rounds there have to be players that people are targeting as their "sleepers". There aren't too many people that are going to fall that everyone is really gun ho about. So here is my suggestion.
Email RFS ONE player that you are interested in picking up this round. I guarantee it will speed things up a great deal, though some will be taken, probably close to half won't and will move things along more quickly.

Goat you weren't supposed to take him. I had my post typed since last night with Northcutt ready to go. I took a kicker before you and Pennygray because I expected both of you to be taking one. He doesn't have one and yours may not even make the team so I figured it was a good bet Northcutt would be around after your picks. Now I have to hope White will be the better receiver, but I had him downgraded with Kordell throwing to him. Well, one more pick to go for me later this round so hope things roll along so I can make it today.

Actually, I was thinking 12 hour max, but like 8 hour better with the caveat that no one's time expires during the sleeping hours. So if we use ET and said hours between say 9am and 10pm, with a time limit of 8 hours fromt he time of last pick (time suspended during the "dark" hours though anyone can pick during this time). I'm used to 2 hour limits, but we'd only go to that in a near emergency. This way anyone that doesn't have access either during the day or during night will still have a chance. To be honest, since we're not forfeiting picks and those skipped can pick at any time, even a shorter time limit will work as the later rounds won't matter nearly as much. It's even harder to leave a q with so many "no-names" in the pool.
