4.17 deadline is 10:40 ET then StL is on the clock at 4.18 (unless I've overlooked a trade).
Hope no one is in the blackout area! I think if there are we need to suspend this to be fair when it reaches them. Thus far this has NOT been the case from my information.

I AIMed AP10, but he's been idle for over 3 hours. I'm heading to bed soon so I won't have a pick until tomorrow morning unless he picks in the next few. May have a LIMITED q though.

FYI - Progressive Sports has a new free football game in addition to the usual free game sponsored by "The Softball Network" which is giving out softball prizes. PSC's Commish Chris talks about it in the football forum , but I thought I'd give all the cheapskates over here a heads-up. ;-)

4 rounds in the book sans the skipped pick. AF is on the clock which expires at 5:43 ET.
I think the 6 hr limit with the dark periods was effective so we can leave it that way to start the final round.

Speaking of old news items, StL posted this last year as a copy from an old post that deepsnapper posted on the boards from somewhere else. Anyhow, an interesting take on one man's opinion of fantasy sports etiquette.

I'm calling it a night while I still can. This has been one unbelieveable afternoon.
My Dad had a head-on car accident after lunch that's had me waiting by the phone most of the afternoon. After it was all said and done, he's cut-up pretty bad from all the broken glass and bruised severly, but nothing appears to be broken (some whiplash). They released him from the hospital tonight and he's at home. And to think my Mom's been home barely a month and this happens. Incredible.
The guy that hit him passed out from a heart attack or a seizure & crossed over a 4 lane highway into my Dad. Sadly, my folks have know him and his family for 25 yrs. He broke his neck in the collision. The doctors don't know if he's paralyzed or not. Their son called and gave us a status a couple of hours ago.
I'm glad my Dad was in rheir caddy. I'm told the impact with the 3/4 ton PU crushed it like a coke can. That was one big car! If you're saying any words of prayer, say some for my folks, they're certainly appreciated.

PD - Yo Adrian!
B - thanks, I agree wholeheartedly. At least when he told me this morning they'd x-rayed his head (MRI actually) & didn't find anything, I got to tell him I could have told the doctor that! and he said they'd shine a flashlight through my ears & it's go straight through, so he's feeling a little better to come back at me like that.
I'm going to need about an hour to eat and figure out whether it's a RB or QB with this last one. I resemble a fried pie this morning after a couple of hrs sleep. So many choices and so little time. ;)

Roy, thoughts and prayers are with you. I've been spending a lot of time in the hospital myself lately, but looks like everything's going to be fine when it's all said and done as well. Sometimes we don't realize how blessed we are until an emergency arises and we find out that everything is relatively ok. Hope that continues to be the case on your end.

Thanks Ref, I really know what you mean. I didn't like my Dad growing up, but I loved him, but it didn't hit home until sitting around yesterday waiting on the phone to ring you can leave a lot unsaid. It's a pretty thought provoking experience. I won't have to remember to tell him I love him the next time I see him. ;)

Well the old man had to go pick up a Park Avenue. Probably shouldn't be driving, but WTF. Bad role reveral flashback to the early 70's. He's fine to drive, he just can't turn his head!. I need a drink before I start an Exit42 fast-live in about 15 minutes. Can't wait to see the team I pick in that one.
I want to thank everyone again for the kind thoughts, words, and prayers for my family. It's times like these that makes me realize how special these boards are and how lucky I was to stumble onto this place from Swirve back in 1998. I haven't been the same since.

On the other hand... I don't know if he's eligible to be on an active roster, since the website won't have him listed as an eligible player... so unless he signs an NFL contract in the next few weeks... how do we handle this oh wise commishes?

He still has amateur eligibility. I thought briefly about taking another college player if he LOST his amateur athletic ability any day now--but thought that wouldn't be right Since he couldn't play in the NFL this year. So I'm going to speak with rfs but I don't see any way we can start picking college players.

If my team is doing poorly midseason I'll just go "Heisman Shopping" on the waiver wire if EVERYONE is eligible in this league.

Ok, I was wasn't considering players with college eligibility when I wrote "anyone" I don't think we can allow the AP10 pick, othewise what is to stop team in 23rd place near the end of the year to request the potetial heisman (sp?) winner?
I think for the good of the league a player can only be drafted if he is eligible to be drafted/signed by an NFL team. College players are offlmits to NFL owner and since this is an NFL fantasy league, they should be offlimits to us too.
This is another one of those situations that wasn't expressly addresed, but that doesn't mean that it should be legal. Sorry.

It was worth a try :/ Anyways, my point was that there needs to be a more specific ruling. rfs stated that Bono could be selected and he wouldnt be available in CBS either...

Ref and I just agreed via e-mail. AP10 can re-pick whenever he is ready, but colelcge players (or high scholl or junior high) are NOT legal picks.

At first I thought AP10 had drafted Roy Williams the Dallas Safety, and was wondering if he had some info on him switching to an offensive role or something.
Tough call, as it's not stated clearly that it is not allowed, but at the same time I think it's almost a given. I mean it will be hell if rfs and ref have to patrol College pickups off the WW, for simplicity and the fact that like others thought this wasn't allowed I don't know if it should be.

If you're thinking of disallowing this pick, I would suggest suspending the draft pending the commishes ruling so that AP10 will have an opportunity to make an alternate selection if you disallow this one. Obviously it's your call... just my .02.

66 | Doug Sustainer

"It's not stated clearly that it is not allowed"... actually, on the contrary, it's stated clearly that it IS allowed (post 56). Personally, I don't think we SHOULD allow college pickups and thus should rewrite that rule accordingly, but at the same time it would be entirely unjust to penalize AP10 for following a clearly stated rule in the draft thread.

AP10, isn't gong to be penalized. He can re-pick up to his normal time limit. We aren't pressed for time so he can have the rest of his 6 our limit.

In order to be eligible to play in the NFL, Roy Williams would have to apply for and a "supplemental" draft would have to be preformed at such a time when all NFL teams in the order of the most recent NFL draft would have the right of first refusal to draft him on a round by round basis. If he passed through all 7 rounds without being drafted, he could be signed as a free agent. Any team selecting him would lose the corrsponding draft pick in the next regular NFL draft. Roy Williams has not applied for a supplemental draft and is not eligble to play in the NFL this season. Case closed as far as I'm concerned unless we're playing by different rules than those of the NFL.
I wrote all this from memory, but if anyone doubts it's accuracy, I will gladly (well almost) hunt up a link on the Offical NFL site (somewhere).
I know how it works. Dallas drafted Steve Walsh out of Miami with a supplemental #1 the same year we drafted Troy with the overall #1 pick and we lost the #1 the following year in 1990. Sorry for the diatribe, but that's not the way I care to see the rules interpreted.

The draft was stopped without stopping it as it was my turn and I was not picking until AP10 repicked. Put yourself in AP10s shoes and you would have wanted the same thing. The only reason we didn't say only the players in the db are eligible is because once in a great while a player comes out of nowhere and is yet to be listed in the db. Rules are generally made after an incident happens that warrants the rule spelled out. So, from now on, let's just say that the player has to be eligible to play in the NFL in order to be picked up on your team.
RFS' selection of Terrell Davis is one example of a player that is not currently on a team but eligible (and he IS in the db).

He's a lot like Randle El in that regard. Perhaps too small to ever be a top ten WR but more creative football in them than the next ten guys put together.

I have received the accepted trade but am unable to approve it at this time. Reason: There is no solidified agreement in the comments section on draft picks. I don't need to reject it, but if StL and Ksoze can get with me on their final agreement, I'll be happy to approve it immediately.

OK, I've got it straight now. In the future, everyone please withdraw/reject and re-propose trade offers when you are negotiating in the comments area for other players and or draft picks and that comments have alternate possibilities. Thanks.

Just a heads up. We are working on the schedule right now. We are going to complete that before going forward with anything else.

Ack I just found out the Atl coaching staff and I have a disagreement on the value of Martay Jenkins. I second that question. When can I repair the damage?

As I said in 88 we are working ahrd to get the schedule out first. The end of the draft got done so fast that we'd like to get the schedule out and everything set up and ready so when we turn waivers on, the season will be all ready to go. Also, CBS tweaked some things that have made some things harder to find and some of our processes are going to have to be tweaked ever so slightly (though won't have much of an impact on anything).
Once we start waivers, there is no turning back. Remember that originally we did the draft the weekend before the games started to make sure we had as much information as possible. With over 2 weeks before the season we don't need to be in so much of a rush that someone loses their waiver priority (that also has to be set) for a Joe Schmo only to find out he's on the practice squad.
It won't be long though.
