JerryLewis, it's not the points that are the problem. It's the depth. Most teams have 2 receivers that are playing most plays. However, they usually only have 1 back playing most plays. That means there are 62 "starting" WR's and only 32 "starting" RB's. So, when the first 32 are gone from each position, you're left with table scraps at the RB position, yet you still have very viable options at WR.

Yea, I'm gonna be weak at running back but hopefully strong at the other spots.

I think Jerry Lewis is trying to corner the market and force Pancho and others into lopsided trades. JL - your master plan is treacherous and will surely fail. You will be stuck with Olandis Gary and Fred Beasley, and will eventually shoot yourself while hiding in a bunker.

hehehe. Wouldn't it be funny to see them do a 2 WR for 2 RB swap? ;)

Astade and dgrooves, hang around (or leave queue's) because I'll swing this draft around pretty quick when it's my turn.

Nah. I just know that it's hard for some people to follow a draft if there's a lot of discussion mingled in. dgrooves made a good suggestion. :)

Under any other circumstances, I wouldn't worry about having separate threads for things or worry about OT discussion.

yea, this is the last chance to get the middle of the pack WRs, IMHO. I say another dozen or so, then you'll have to start reachin'. Pancho can pick up 2 decent WRs though, so he'll be ok.

Sorry JL :)

Nope not me. Wiggs is up now. I hate it - can't find any good info anywhere on p & k returners. I've reduced myself to going through depth charts on the team sites, which is probably totally inaccurate.

JL, do you have any basis for saying that?

The last two WRs taken; Conway and Taylor are both considered #1 WRs on their respective teams.

They might not achieve the numbers of your #1's like Robinson & Driver, but they will still get similar opportunities.

disagree?

actually JL isn't taking a RB cause of pride, methinks.

I bet he realized after he reached for Hasselbeck in the 2nd
that he had no chance to land a good RB so he's just going with it ;)

JL, is your plan to draft the backups to all the premier backs and then hope they get injured? ...hehe

yeah - if he just has one position listed I wouldn't mess with it.

just wondering how yahoo's roster works. does kkb have an automated way of adding these guys to our rosters? 240 guys is a lot of players. Can we add them or is that something only the commish can do?

I'll have to add them. It's not really bad because they have a list of players and I do each team one-by-one. So really, it's just 12 teams of 20 players, not 240 players assigned to 12 teams (if that makes sense).

in general w/ 3 RB slots, I think it's a pretty tough hole to get out of if you have 0 studs.

I know from my personal draft experience, sometimes we can put blinders on such that we pick players that won't help in the standings...

it was friendly advice, just trying to help ya out man

#49, I know that there are no more stud RBs left.

Trading your picks or a package deal including your top WRs might have been the way to go to land some RB talent.

Enough on the subject, if you don't understand, you will by season's end.

Just took the steal of the draft. If given any real PT, Hatchette is good for 12 tds this year, 900 yards, no problem.

PV is up for two, then me, but I won't be able to check until about ten or so EST. But I'll be around all day tomorrow after that.

Hatchette was out of the NFL last year. Leading reciever in NFL Europe last year, where he finally got a chance to show his skills.

He picked the right team to try in Jacksonville, and now with Smith out I'm hoping it really works out for both of us.

How are WAIVER claims and FREE AGENTS handled in this league?

Like if a STUD Running Back got injured and 2 people wanted to add his backup to their roster, how would that be handled?

If a player is a free agent, it's first come, first serve. If he's on waivers, it's based on waiver priority, which is set by Yahoo.

Tough pick. There are a few top positions left, and knowing nearly all of them will be gone by the time I pick again makes it difficult. Went with the best defense available, since at least I have some top guys at the major positions already.

Everyone should think that their own team is the best, unless you completely screwed up your draft like Jerry Lewis ;), but I like Beetski's team, and I'll give honorable mention to Astade and Myboyjack.

It's a bit early to evaluate the rosters, IMO.

I think Beetski has a very strong foundation though. That trio of RBs along w/ the rest of his offense will be very tough to beat.

Thanks for the mention, holt.

Now where are PD and Pancho?

JerryLewis, there's a N/A there because it doesn't apply to this league. In a head-to-head league, you can set it up so managers that have a BYE week still get points, which apply towards tie-breakers and such.

Hey HOLT, I live 2 hours from Green Bay. You might be dissappointed with that DEFENSE.

They have some problems. Their defensive line is in a shambles. Two new linebackers including a rookie Middle Line Backer. And Strong safety is a problem. (Antuan Edwards right now)

I don't expect them to rank anywhere near where they were last year.

Im happy grabbing Atlanta's defense this late. A Wade Phillip's defense is always good. I really wanted the Pats D. I figure with the additions of Harrison and Colvin, the Pats will be a top 3 defense. Defineatly a steal.

I don't think I have made any significant mistake so far in this draft, which is nice. Usually by now I am really regretting a pick.

With TD passes being worth the same as TD rushes, I had Rich Gannon and Peyton Manning far and away the top 2 QB's, with Vick's injury. McNabb being 4th. Grabbing Gannon when I did was lucky, plain and simple.

Looking quickly at the rosters, so far, it seems there are 6 to 7 solid teams. At this point in the draft, the deepness of the league begins to take shape. Usual waiver wire pickups will now be seen on rosters instead. I have never been in a league with Kick Return yards.....I hope I didnt jump too early on Santana Moss

I do not want to hold the draft up, but i also do not have time to make a queue. If it gets to my pick and some time goes by with out a pick, i will allow someone to pick for me, please no joke picks, or you can skip me and i will pick when i get a chance. Re #147: I watched the Cleveland/GB game, and was suprised at how much scoring there was. I expected GB to do well against Cleveland (who are great against the pass but are sloppy against the run with Brown not 100%), but did not expect Cleveland to have the good passing game they did.

Kev, David Terrell a steal?

He still hasn't beaten out DEZ WHITE for 2nd receiver on the BEARS. And from listening to Chicago radio (670 The Score- 2 hours away), I'm not sure the BEARS are happy with him. Think he's got an attitude problem.

Well, I have had David Terrell on my pick list for 4 rounds now, and just decided to see where he would fall. I was going to draft my kicker, but I figure I will wait on the next run. Dez White has never been able to hold onto the ball...Terrell will be starting. I expect big things out of him.

David Terrell does have an attitude problem. Like I said above, I don't have a doubt he will beat out Dez White. Last year, he had 2 TD's in his first 4 games before being hurt. He has a ton of talent. I figure he was the best WR left. With Lelie, Moss, Boston and Coles ahead of him, Im happy with him as my 5th WR.

I see BEETSKI took JJ STOKES.

Back when PERM DUDE took MATT HATCHETTE, I was wondering why he didn't just take STOKES.

STOKES is #1 in Jacksonville until Jimmy Smith gets back.

When Smith gets back, HATCHETTE goes to #3 I would think.

That's why I thought it was a horrible pick.

JL, I like Stokes, but remember this is a guy who only had one TD last year in 13 games. And with all the injuries in Jacksonville Hatchette will be firmly entrenched by the time Smith comes back.

And Smith, who had a much poorer year last year than the year before, will miss the first quarter of the season. And since he's actually left the team, it's virtually certain it'll take him some time to get back into the game.

RotoTimes has Dugans listed as the #5 or 6 receiver with C Johnson, Warrick, Houshmanzedeh and rookie Kelley Washington in front of Dugans and Danny Farmer.
I think Kitna could have a good year(Seahawks fan, I've seen him do well), but that looks like a big logjam with the Bengal receivers.

good question; when in doubt do nothing, i guess.

We still have some time before the season starts, since it isn't one of the last rounds, i say we give him the day he is entitled to.

we will still finish on time, no biggie

here is his quote:
"If it gets to my pick and some time goes by with out a pick, i will allow someone to pick for me, please no joke picks, or you can skip me and i will pick when i get a chance."
so I guess we should probably allow for a normal amount of time for him to pick.

We should probably look at making a pick for wiggs. He's filled in starters at every position except QB and DEF, so it makes sense to pick one of those.

Based on who is left, and on the rankings over at FootballDocs.com, I'm thinking of picking NEW ORLEANS DEFENSE for him.

Does anyone feel this pick is unreasonable?

If it comes down to picking for wiggs, how does that work? He obviously needs QBs, and I believe only a Dallas QB is left, and there is no definitive decision on Carter or Hutch there.
Beyond them, here is a list of probables:
1. Tim Rattay - Garcia's health is a major concern, but Rattay is hardly battle-tested, might look like a joke pick.

2. Kyle Boller - Highly touted rookie may supplant Redman.

3. Brian Griese - Lots of people call Fiedler a winner, but didn't Miami miss the playoffs last year? Griese a proven commodity and Fiedler injury-prone as well.

4. Marc Bulger - see Brian Griese

5. Tim Couch - ...if Holcombe falters..?

6. Carson Palmer - see Kyle Boller

7. Rodney Peete/Chris Weinke/Jake Delhomme - I guess no Carolina QB has been picked either. Good luck with that mess

8. Danny Wuerffel/Rob Johnson - Will Spurrier pull the plug if Ramsey starts slowly?

If you were wiggs, who would you pick? Hopefully that decision won't have to be made, but we haven't had a pick for almost 10 hours. Hope all is well with your mom-in-law.

I think it would be NOR (he at least has 1 QB) or Peete (he is the starter).

Personally, I would probably take the defense first if I were making the pick. The DAL situation is too crazy to make a solid pick from that, IMHO.

Peete would be my pick, too, KKB.

Unless Astade and dgrooves show up, it doesn't make much sense to make wiggs's pick. I have holt's queue, but that would just stop us again at Astade.

So, Astade and dgrooves, when you show up, let us know and tell us who you would pick for wiggs (more of a consensus that way). After that, I'll pick for wiggs and holt and we can swing it back around to wiggs (I have holt's queue for next round as well). We'll probably give him a few hours to see if he shows up, then pick for him again.

I'm here.

Since wiggs is in the middle of the round I don't see the point in rushing this, honestly. If we do 'swing' it around KKB it just lands up on wiggs again.

It seems like things must be pretty rough for him, and I really don't see the harm in waiting for him. After all, it isn't the 18th or 19th round here. These picks are pretty important in developing a strong set of bench/role players.

I'm really in favor of waiting and if there ends up being a vote on his pick I think teams 1-5 should vote since they have the least to gain. just my 2 cents

QB: 2
WR: 4
RB: 3 + 1 bench
TE: 1 + 1 bench

He had X-rays at Giants Stadium, which revealed the fracture-dislocation, and was taken to Lenox Hill Hospital in New York for immediate surgery. The Jets do not know how long their starting quarterback will be out, and said Pennington's status would be determined after surgery.
