New thread for new draft

Sorry about all this. I'm for some reason unable to delete the old thread. So we can just use this one for the new draft --- beginning with pick 1.1.
Never been through something like this and hope never to repeat it.

ok. Well, Wiggs did say in a previous thread that if we had to start all over, he still wanted Ricky Williams at 1.1 - so i say we post it, then go to Wazzup...

Taxman - basically, there was a lot of confusion with the whole Revving Parson/Species situation, that the whole draft got thrown out, so we started over.
it's a much longer story than that. lol

By the way...TREE, please dump the que I sent you (all my devious master draft planning disclosed to my arch competitor :>) as now that I am back I will choose the players I really wanted to begin with. But thanks for offering to take the que if it was needed.
So, like, if I don't truly like who I pick in this version of the GG draft, can I call a do-over?

Tax - the only pick of yours i remember was the first one on the list (next time you send a queue, space down about 800 spaces so your pick doesn't pop up first thing), and that is not a pick i'd make as early as you would, so you have nothing to worry about..lol

Would it be possible to restate the draft order using Gurupie board names instead of team names. I am old, feeble and have limited brain power. i am not able to associate abstract team names with Gurupie names unless the team name includes the Gurupie name.
Thanks bunches if you do so.

September 4: Season Begins
I would get killed for drafting on the 1st (parents anniversary), but any other time is ok if that's what is decided. I ppsted these for discussion as I didn't know if anyone (including myself) knew the dates available) if we wanted to fast live.

not sure what time zones those are, but anything that begins before 8 p.m. eastern is not possible for me during the week.
additionally, i've already got live drafts on 8/25 and 8/27, so those times are out. and 8/26 my girlfriend is back from being out of time, so i'm hanging out with her that night.
and next weekend *is* labor day weekend.
these are actually fairly small rosters - 15 rounds i believe, so i think with patience, we can get this done by next weekend.

Like Tree, those early times are out for me, even though I'm in the Central time zone. I work nights and am usually sleeping.
But I thought we'd all committed to being here tonight at 8 p.m. ET to complete the draft (or as much of it as possible) in a couple of hours.
If we hold to that, I don't think there'll be too much of a problem. And I like the idea of a late (in time of year) draft to avoid picking Vick or Pennington early --- to name just a few.
And so, where's Promize? He's on the clock which, incidentally will officially start at 8 p.m. Any thoughts on a time limit for picks?
Don

quite frankly, if we're all committed to being here at 8 p.m., which we've talked about for eons, i'd say a 15-minute MAX time limit - that allows the possibility of working out trades and such.
having said that, i also wanna pitch an idea for:
1. if you miss your pick, and you didn't leave a queue with active guys on it, sucks for you. you get skipped. when you return, you can make up your pick(s) AFTER the person currently on the clock.
2. ending the draft at 11 p.m. eastern

Hey guys, don't worry about me, I'll be checking in quite often tonight. Just got back from my daughters soccer game. Tied 1-1 after reg. play, the overtime went on so long that they started reducing the number of players. By the end there was only 3 players on each team (with no goalies). Super nail-biter, but we ended up winning...next stop is the Championship!

Also, with the official start of the draft just 15 minutes away, we have not decided how long to allow for picks. I've heard 30 and 15 minutes, respectively. Can we have a quick choice among those? I favor 15 since we're all supposed to be here and if someone fails to leave a queue, he can jump in whenever he returns, then go back to his original spot.

Now... what do we do about the Priest?

Promize - if it were the 15th round or something, there would be more sympathy for ya.
but it's the second round, and it was TWO picks before yours.
we gave you every benefit of the doubt. we gave you extra time. we tried to post and let you know, but you decided not to stick around. i checked the Yahoo site for your email address, and yours is the only one not published.
it's early enough that you can catch up - should we have sat here all night and not drafted because of your mistake?

Welp, like I said two days ago, if the commish would place players on their teams as we pick then we wouldn't make mistakes...
And im not gonna compete in a league that a simple error doesn't get fixed... Especially this early in the draft...
It is not worth it to me...

Promize - it's not someone else's fault you made a mistake. it's YOUR fault. you should keep track of these things. man, didn't you even look at the posts ahead of you?

And show me were the rules of the league said if you made a mistake it won't be fix

We're not playing for money here and there's no subscription fee. It's a bunch of friends (I thought)but we HAVE to have rules.

Yes, I thought we was playing among friends also... So you would think "Friends" would realize an error... I didn't know I made a mistake and had to do some work afk... So when I came back I saw my player deleted...

if Promize acts like a man here, accepts he made a mistake, and makes some picks right now, then he keeps Priest.
if Promize decides that he's more important than everyone else, and walks, then what we do with Priest is a good question - honestly, the only fair thing i could see doing would be to give him to me...err...i mean make him ineligible for the league or maybe do one of those randomizer dice things again for anyone who wants him, and the highest roll gets him.

promize - we're in the middle of a draft that was decided upon quite some time ago - did you leave a queue or any method of contact when you split?
we should still be drafting while this goes on, and if promize wants to lose more players, so be it. DeepSteaker?

I hope Promize decides to stick it out.
But, if not, I like making Priest ineligible. It's only one player and it's the only fair thing that occurs to me. The randomizer is too much like a lottery and would give the winner too big an edge.

Tree, some of us have a real life, I had a problem in my household that I had to fix...
You can ask many people on these boards that im good person and I attend all drafts ... I also run a couple leagues... If I made a mistake, then I had a real life issue to deal with....
So considering we just started the draft, I don't see a problem why it couldn't be fixed...

Promize-everyone has left the ability to be gotten ahold of, except you.
Everyone seems to have either committed to tonight or left queues to help keep things flowing.
This is why it is vital that when we pick we double check. AND DO NOT LEAVE THE BUILDING RIGHT AWAY!!
