Holt, since you been bashin me for the last few days, lets look at your roster.

In my opinion, plenty of questionable picks.

64- Canidate- Looks like it's going to be running back by committee in Washington

88- Travis Taylor- I've seen a number of better receivers get picked after him.

105- Green Bay- You're in serious trouble on that one. Believe me.

112- K Stewart- average quarterback behind an average offensive line with a below average running back. Recipe for disaster

129- Bettis- not even a starter anymore

As far as Canidate (WAS) goes, DGrooves drafted Chad Morton and Perm Dude drafted Kenny Watson. Both of them are gonna get carries.

I think those guys realize that Canidate's status is shaky at best.

ON WITH THE DRAFT!!!

Actually, at this point, everyone drafting any RB is drafting a backup. Watson went with the 141st pick and Morton went with the 155th pick. In any normal draft, neither one of these guys would even be considered, though Canidate has been drafted in every draft I've participated in.

Saying that Watson and Morton are going to get carries becuase they got drafted is like saying Larry Johnson, LeBrandon Toefield, Doug Chapman, and Moe Williams are going to get carries because they got drafted. Sure, they will, but no way any of them gets selected in a normal draft.

Besides, even if Canidate only gets only 50 carries this year, it's still 50 more than what your current set of running backs will get. ;)

Not true, they love canidate as a receiver. He'll get points as an rb and receiver. nothing wrong with taylor - that's just your personal opinion that better wr's were drafted behind him. His TD's are gonna pay off. We'll see about GB's D, I'm not sold that they are all that bad, but I also have the Rams D. To tell you the truth, I don't think defense is much of a factor in this scoring system. I would have waited until the 16th round to pick one if I could have. Kordell is a warm body until Vick comes back (which he will). I have the opinion that the bears are putting together an offense that suits him, and I'm a Kordell fan. Bettis will get plenty of carries. Cowher is just keeping the fire going. He looks great so far, and he was the 4th RB I picked.

I was looking at Kevin Faulk as a late round sleeper RB, but dgrooves snatched him at 131. There's a good chance he'll get lots more rushing opportunities and he will always see a lot of passes. Risky in a normal draft, but a hot commodity here.

PD made a pick in the political league about the same time he was up in this draft. I'm wondering if he's having internet or computer problems.
In any case, I've been waiting since about 8:30 PM(MST) to pick, and have to leave soon for this thing called work. What is the procedure for the 12 hour time limit?

JerryLewis, you're right that I'm the commish and I'm telling Pancho Villa that it doesn't matter to me. Chill out a bit, okay. If Pancho Villa picks, then it's (drum roll, please) Perm Dude's pick again! So what have we accomplished from the perspective of the draft as a whole? Pretty much, not a lot. So, that's why it really doesn't matter if Pancho Villa picks or not, thus it might as well be his decision.

Besides, technically Pancho Villa has 12 hours to pick from the end of Perm Dude's 12 hours, so it really is his decision anyhow. I can't force someone to pick.

No, it wasn't vague and no, I didn't put the desicion on his shoulders. The decision has always been on his shoulders. If he picks, then we still have to wait for PD again. Thus, assuming PD will be back within the next 12 hours (which I suspect he will be), it really makes no difference whether or not he picks before PD makes his current pick.

It's not vague, it's just the way it works out because of the draft order.

I'm a bit concerned, since PD strikes me as being a conscientious and responsible guy. I am going to go ahead and pick, though, because I have to leave soon for most of the day, and if he shows up and picks and then I'm gone, it will slow things up even more. Hopefully, PD isn't looking at either of my 2 picks, and all will be cool.

back to our division:

I'm looking for an RB who will split time and get 5-10 carries a game.
If you are willing to trade one please let me know! I would prefer to give up picks...

JL still has zero RB's and the only good thing about his team is the Defenses. HIS qb's and WR's aren't great and he has 4 TE but whatveer. So I think its safe to say but November he won't be paying attention to his team.

I still don't get the 4 TE thing. Okay, so there are some injured TE's. Is that any reason to have 0 RB's (who are far more likely to get injured) and 4 TE's? Something is telling me no.

Further, TE's are worth just about nothing in a trade unless you have Gonzalez/Shockey/Heap. Beyond that, they're all about the same.

So, JerryLewis, are you planning on drafting any RB's, or are you planning on trying to trade for some? And if you're planning on trading, what are you planning on trading?

Hey guys - the season starts in just a little over a week - next thursday!. How 'bout we get this draft over with so KKB can take care of all the rosters at his leisure. We're startin' to slack off here in the last rounds - send a queue if you need to and we'll wrap this thing up, and then we may also have time to make last minute trades before the first game.

QUEUE'S!!!

C'mon people! This is getting ridiculous! Seriously, if you know you're going to be away for an hour or more, especially at night when the vast majority of us are available to pick, then leave a queue! beetski, it's fine, well, and good for you to "wake up a few times in the middle of the night." Meanwhile, the rest of us are waiting to make our picks so we can go to bed for the night. I don't mean to single you out either. These last few rounds have been horribly slow. We likely would have been done by now if people left queue's with other people.

I'm begging you all, please leave a queue if you're going away for any extended period of time. I'm getting really tired of sitting at my computer all night hitting refresh just to see there has been no picks made. 1 pick since 2:45 pm is just ridiculous.

If we don't finish Round 18 by noon tomorrow, the time limit for each pick will be dropped to 3 hours. I have no problem with forcing people to leave a queue with someone else to just finish this draft up. Again, we should have been done by now.

In 4 hours, it will be 48 hours since my last pick. I realize these are the draft dregs, but it makes it hard to remain focused when things move this slowly. This brings me to my question:
Perm Dude has been AWOL most of the week due to a move and computer problems. If noon rolls around and I'm still waiting to pick, does the new 3 hour limit begin then, or at 3PM?

The 3 hour rule will implement for Round 19. We can't switch the rules on someone and penalize them without having never known the rule. Once Round 19 starts, everyone should have seen the 3 hour rule, so it will be in effect.

I have an idea. It will help everyone gain another persepctive on their own team. Everyone looks at the gu's team who drafts after him and tries to rip it on the board here. So i would do MBJ, JL would rip my team. It would help us all see are team through someone else's eyes. I don't wanna do it if we don't get all 12 people to agree though

Sorry, had to leave.

Holt, Dane Looker has not won the #3 job yet. He hasn't even won the #4 job yet.

He's not gonna get 20 catches playing behind BRUCE and TORY HOLT and he doesn't return kicks.

Plus, there is better receivers out there.

Horrible pick.

You should be on edge Holt. Cause you ain't gonna come close to winning this league.

I'm not saying I am but you ain't either. I already tore apart half of your roster.

Much better rosters in here.

And Please spare us your personal analysis of everybody's roster. I am begging you.

Green Bay's DEFENSE is gonna suck. Every sports writer in America says the same.

Michael Vick isn't gonna play until half the season is over.

Michael Pittman has a drunk driving charge pending and is gonna miss a considerable part of the season

Looker I already told you about

Bettis is a backup.

Canidate has 3 players pushing him for playing time and touches.

Jerry Rice is 100 years old.

Travis Taylor has been a disappointment since he was drafted.

Eddie George is gonna lose playing time to Robert Holcombe before the season is over.

Kordell Stewart- there is a reason that Pittsburgh let him go. Cause he sucks. And he's on a bad team now.

GOOD LUCK bud.

You know what JL? You sabotaged your own team so bad that we all thought it was a joke, so we started making jokes about it cuz we figured you didn't care. Turns out you were trying to do your best and we hurt your feelings. Sorry about that. Now look at my picks. You'll notice that I took a QB and WR first. After that I just had to take the best RB's available. They may not be perfect, but at least I have a few to choose from. Green Bay defense? I read a post from you in another thread about a week ago where you are defending the green bay defense. You say Vick will miss half the season. I don't think so. Who cares? I drafted him in the 5th round! If you think Bruce and Holt get ALL the catches, then you don't know squat about the rams. I'm a rams fan and used my 17th pick to pick a ram as my 6th WR and I have to catch crap for it??? Bettis looks good to me, and there is a decent chance he will be the starter as the year progresses, and he was my 4th RB drafted. You should have picked him yourself. Right now canidate is #1, and he is a good receiving RB. There are only so many RB's. We don't all get the pick of the litter man. Rice and Taylor are both starters and will both likely get 1000 yards this year. There were 30 or 40 WR's drafted before them. It's not like I took them in the 3rd or 4th round. Most of the good RB's were gone when I got Eddie George. He was a great pick, and it's not my problem if you can't understand that. You made the choice to draft a bunch of D's, K's, and TE's, so don't take it out on me. You drafted a D in the 3rd round!!! Do you have any idea how wasteful that was? Defense is not much of a factor in this league. I'm done talking to you.

HOLT do you know the scoring system for this league at all?

Do you know how many points the TAMPA BAY defense scored last year based on this scoring system? How about on a per week basis?

Do you know how many points Martin Grammatica scored last year based on this scoring system?

When you figure that out come back and we'll talk.

JL, i am looking at the scoring system, and i stil believe you made an error picking them 3rd. The Tampa Bay defense scored 11.5 points per game based on last years STATs. You guys look at your rosters and tell me how many spots you have that are gonna score 11.5 points per game.

2.5 points per game for the touchdowns. 6 points per touchdown.

hey beetski - I'm curious about the situation with Brunell right now, so I'm not sure if I want to trade Leftwich. If I do, I think I'd be looking to upgrade one of my RB slots. If you're a big jags fan then I'd be more inclined to deal him to you, but if you're just speculating like me then I'd rather just keep him.

JerryLewis, with the draft essentially over, I was hoping you would tell us what your strategy was in picking some of the seemingly less significant positions (PK, TE, D) over RB.

Im not trying to piss you off or rip on you or your team. I am simply curious as I have never seen a strategy like yours used.

yea, he has refused to draft w/ any logic based on the league settings. No strategy!

I stand by my prior assumption that he screwed up early and just stuck with it.

he's gonna be one of those people that gets blown out of the division early and we'll never hear from him after week 4 :)

he hasn't even tried to manuver and trade for a more complete team

so don't worry holt

No worries here Astade. I'm not the one that drafted a defense just ahead of C. Martin. Supply and demand. It's not how many points TB gets, it's how many they get relative to the other defenses.

ATTENTION JERRYLEWIS
Arlen Harris, your 18th round pick, is not in the Yahoo database. You can either pick up a different player or have first dibs on him if/when he becomes available (no, you can't have both).

Please let me know your decision.

I swear I checked the other day when I picked him and he was in there. I don't know what happened.

Besides Arlen Harris, there is at least one another guy that I hope YAHOO adds. Maybe when they get the FINAL ROSTERS some of these guys will start showing up.

I RETAIN RIGHTS TO ARLEN HARRIS IF HE IS ADDED TO THE DATABASE.

If YAHOO doesn't add him, I'll go FREE AGENT the rest of the way.

You might have problems adding DARIUS THOMPSON to my roster too I think. I only have 1 running back so my bench might be overflowing. Let me know.
