Stuck. Tell Tree to take my OUT of purple and INTO baby blue!!! Or else kick him out! What about that Plaxico pick? I couldn't really decide. Maddox seems to love Ward, but all the experts say Plaxico is a stud upcoming...I went with him instead of another WR I had just behind. Feel free to offer up for Plaxico. And Henry...Daunte and Koren are never moving!

The question I'd like us all to ponder is this:

Why can Yahoo hold an instant draft and get total cooperation and nothing is a big deal, but as soon as we go on the boards to draft, a change takes place.

What is the change, how does it happen and what, if anything, can we do about it?

Trouble is, Rev, there's no real way to enforce it. Yahoo just cuts you off and you know it will happen, so you pick. Here, all of a sudden, there's all the other aspects of life that have to get taken care of while the draft is going on.

I hope at least we can get this done tonight.

i think we just go back to slow. everyone check in when they can, and pick pick pick. i've got live drafts two nights this week (monday and wednesday), and won't be able to do much with a slow draft, and if i don't hang out with my girl tuesday night when she gets home, she and the dog will leave me.

that being said - email me at work if i come up during the day.

i can't agree to any more 15 minute clocks.

1. no time this week.
2. it's not working as well as it should anyway.

and i can't agree to the 2/3 hour clock - people have different schedules, time needs, etc.

Well here is my problem, you all jumped down my throat cause I was late fixing a pick.. But yet I have seen several picks being delayed cause someone asked with no problems... Now we are deciding to do a slow draft tommorow, after I was told I should of been ready to draft and prepared.. It really doesn't make since and that is why im upset about the whole situation..

I rarely get mad at all on these boards.. But I am tonight if we are stinking to the rules for everyone...

I apologize to everyone, but if you was in my shoes im sure it would be the same reaction...
but because your lineup wasn't affected, you don't see it on my side.

I'm online tonight, we supposed to have had the draft tonight and everyone prepared, lets get going is my opinion. 2 minutes in between picks and will fly.

Promize - we decided to start the draft at 8 p.m. on sunday night. with 15 minutes per pick.

it was discussed to end it the time limits at 11 p.m. (all times eastern), although this was not confirmed.

every single person who asked that picks be delayed for a few minutes left a queue - and had situations where they were on their way home. you made an invalid pick and left us to make a tough situation - either bring the draft to a screeching halt, or soldier on.

it should be pointed out that even you were given extra time on that pick.

peace,

Could we try passing an email around to let the next couple of people in line know they're about up to pick so we can keep things moving forward until we can get more people together in the forum?

Rev - Food for thought, If you're having email problems, have you ever thought of setting up a fred Yahoo or Hotmail account? I use one for fantasy sports so I don't clutter up my POP mailbox, but it also helps when I'm traveling as I can check it easier than having to find the HTML provider of my ISP and login. It's a good backup mailbox and you can alway allow it to go inactive if you don't use it. It'll just collect all the spam these sites send you.

Rev - Your ISP could have put some type of firewall security up to fend off the MSBlast worms and the clones that have been crawling around the past week or so. The latest one last week focuses on email servers and has crashed a number of commercial sites including the US Navy. If one PC lets it in, its propagates through their address book to everyone listed and so on, and so on,....

Ignore all this if you already are aware of the process, but they may have changed you SMTP server settings w/o your knowledge. You've got 2 "virtual " servers on a "standard" email system, a POP (Post Office Protoco) server for receiving and storing incoming mail and a SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) server which sends your outgoing emails.

I can't be certain of course, but that's what it sounds like if you can receive mail, but not send. We went through the progression of Lotus Notes to MSMail to Outlook over the past 15 years. They've come a long way baby, but that baby pooped a lot on the way!

I forgot the #'s this time, haha, sorry. It is some round .2!

Well...if you can notice I am trying to fill in my backfield. I now have 3 RB's that could produce decent #'s and Henry leading my backfield. I still love my WR's and hopefully Daunte will hang onto the ball and make sure Moss catches it a little more this year than last year, haha.

QB: Culpepper
RB: Henry, Barlow, O. Smith, Buckhalter
WR: Koren, Plaxico, Coles

We will see...how is everyone feeling about their team? I am not really sure about how this team will do in a points league, but I am pretty happy.

The rate isn't to bad, but we do still have several rounds to go and the season is slowly closing in...

Plus, Sixties is gonna have to plug in ALL these players to our teams and then make sure they are all right...

We might want to speed things up a bit or atleast have people check in more often... Of course I know how real life goes, tons of classes for me.

Believe me, I don't mind taking the time at the end to plug in the rosters and there inevitably will be mistakes to fix, but I don't know any way to speed it up much before the weekend. I guess we could go for an hour time between picks. Anyone in favor of that?

Stuck - i think you can input the players as we go, if you have the time. i dont think it has to wait until the end.

i will be on and off line from here through the weekend. there will be a couple of times on the weekend where i will be gone for a few hours, but i will try to leave a phone number or an AIM name where i can be reached mobile-like, and try to pick that way.

but really guys, we have seven rounds to go, and 8 days until the first game, so i don't think it's time to panic just yet...

We are at a point where most of us have locked up all but 2 starting spots locked up. It would seem that we could possibly put a 30 minute during the evening hours and possiblly the same over the weekend, though I realize that it is labor day weekend.

I believe we need to make better use of queues, that would greatly help speed up the process.

at this point, i'd be opposed to any short of extreme clock like 30 minutes.

for some of us, checking the computer ever half-hour isn't feasible.

i've got a 1.5 hour commute every day, each way, for starters.

i think we're far enough along, and if people are dilligent and on an honor system in regards to respecting the fact that we ALL have time-related issues one way or another, this thing could easily be done by saturday or sunday evening.

I just tried inputting one selection, then leaving. When I come back, nothing's there. I think it all has to be done at once, then you hit the "finished" button and the draft is entered. When I did the baseball league, I did it all at once so I never came across this problem before. Anyone have any ideas?

My $.02 worth**** is a restatement of "We gotta get this draft finished" . I suggest a clock and if someone is absent and didn't leave a cue; or picks a player previously selected, they can pick their missed picks after announcing "ready" in this thread, and it is their turn to make up picks after who ever is on the clock makes their selection..... If you are in school, cummuting, sleeping, meeting whatever, leave a que.

Next point, is somebody has to take the que. I tried last night to give a que before I left for dinner and the only response to take my que came from Deepsnapper, after I returned from dinner.

Stuck, if this is your league, drop the hammer. A que is not the same glory as making the pick, but it allows the draft to move multiple rounds per day instead of just multiple picks per day.
Or just decide that we are going to MISS (skip) week #1 of the season.

OK, so it was $.04 worth

1. why are we freaking out? we've got over a week until the season starts, correct? first thursday in Sept, no?

if we are to have a clock, it's gotta be something reasonable - like 6 hours and it's gotta be off from like 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. eastern.

2. Don - From Baldwin, commish of the political league:

You enter them by goimg to commish tools and then into submit draft results and it lets you do them as many at a time as you want.

What you MUST NOT DO however is after hitting commish tools, hitting begin season. That would be very bad. I shudder to imagine the job recovering from that one click.

Guys here is the invisible ink code. If we should not be able to find someone to leave a queue with here is a nice tool that can be used. It does require the honor system not to peek:)

I'll set up a seperate thread to handle these.

The code for "invisible" words is pretty simple.

Put this in front of the words:

... just replace the [ and ] with < and >

and then put this to turn off invisible type:

... making the same substitution to use the < and >

Don, I know you can put the players in ahead of time. You want to put them in the order of the draft IIRC otherwise the WW gets hosed up (somthing about that in baseball). Please don't start the season!

My $.02 worth is we dicked around until Sunday and didn't really get any picks made early for whatever reason.

For example only:

Beginning this past Sunday noon, 8/23, pick 1.5 through today, Wednesday 8/27, at Noon. & pick 8.9, we completed 7.4 rounds or basically half the draft in 3 days. The most important rounds of the draft IMO as you're getting the core of your team in those rounds.

I'll do what I can to help finish the draft and if that means short draft times on the clock, so be it. However, I do think a method of contacting each person should be instituted to ensure they're aware of their selection or they're provided the option of submitting a queue such as rev. did. I can provide a link to the "test" forum if we want to make a separate thread for each of us to post our "invisible" queues.

I may have spent more than my couple of pennies here, but we're all in this to have fun, so lets have some while we're doing it or what's the point?

Hmmmm. If I was sensitive, I would think that you guys don't think I am fun. Sorry if I offended anyone. I was thinking ahead to a holiday weekend when some of us may not be near a computer. It was only a suggestion and certainly not meant either as a demand or criticism.

I really don't get why some managers will leave a que, (with another manager or in the que thread, but others will not, even if it holds everyone up for hours). If I get skipped for not leaving a thread, it's OK. I'll make my picks when I get back and I won't bitch about it.

I think I will stay on the TSN thread for the time being.
