Cliff, I did that pass a stone thing in the ER about 3 yrs ago. It passed w/o our knowledge even though we filtered everything soooo we couldn't name it. :) Hope everything works out.

Cliff, I feel you pain (at least I have). I've had 3 over the years and passed them all. First time I thought it was my appendix.

Passed the first one at the Cowboy-Philly game in 1992. Standing iine at the urnal with that damn strainer & caught the little bastard. I couldn't believe something that small could hurt me that bad!

I put it in a vial and took it to the doctor. It was ~7mm stone. He was impressed, I wasn't until he explained it was like putting a baseball though a garden hose. Ouch!

Stopped drinking whole milk and went to 2 percent and then to skim milk after the last one. It's ok from Braum's, but store brands are "ugh"!

Mine was a calcium rock. Hope all things "pass" soon. Make'em give you something good for the pain. ;)

Cliff, I understand. Have had a few myself. The 1st was the worst. A good news/ bad news thing. The bad news- hurt so bad I couldn't think--totally "stupid". The good news- I had an excuse for being stupid.

I get a stone about once a year. The first (almost 20 years ago) was the worst. One took about 3 months to pass - about 15 years ago. That time, I felt like I had to piss for about 3 months straight. For the last decade, I hardly notice annything anymore. Either my tubes are conditioned, or I've learned to block it out.

Dave - OMG! once a year! You need to talk to a dietician! Balancing your calcium intake and adding a fish oil supplement can cut that rate of occuramce down. You can't cut out calcium or it will cause you to have a stone! D'Oh!

I'll blame the pain on my back until it's too late to do anything about it but pass the stone. That was the case with my first stone. I thought it was my back acting up or maybe my appendix, so I got in my car (at work) & started driving up I35E from downtown Dallas. I drove as far as I635 & had to pull over into the emergency center lane & consider calling 911 because the pain got so intense. It literally was hard to breathe!

The pain subsided some after a few minutes and I made it the final 10 miles to our doctor's office. He freaked when he found out I'd driven 20 miles and called my wife to come and get me or he was going to call an ambulance to take me to ER. I think she used the median instead of the road to get to the clinic as fast as she did .

My advice is: take more drugs and leave a queue my friend. We'll take care of the rest. :-)

hmmmm Maybe the praise was a bit early. Only 5 picks since midnight last night. I guess we will be instituting the clock as amended tomorrow at noon eastern.

Now is the time to chime in if you are going to have problem with the clock starting.

Challenger, my earlier post must not have been sent. You and your Uncle are in my thoughts. i would rather have another kidney stone than to have to deal with your situation.

And you guys are something. What do you mean the worst one. I've had (well after the Guru, just) three and each was, at best, the worst pain I've ever suffered. Nothing else ever caused projectile vomiting. This medicine ball with grapling hooks moving out through the kidneys etc and then when it hits the light of day, by magic it turns into a pebble the size of a couple of pin heads. I've needed demerol injections (talk about a space cadet) multiple times each episode (all 18 months apart with the last one about 20 months ago). My Dr. clients say when they were doing post medical school rotations in the emergency rooms, they could always tell the kidney stones from every other type of ailment, before they checked in, because of the squirming, the clenched teeth...gawwwwd I am really sorry this hit you Cliff. I am really a wuss when it comes to The Stones.

Thanks guys! My Uncle was supposed to have beaten his lung cancer back in December. Then about 6 weeks ago he has a pacemaker installed and from some tests taken at that time they found it had returned. Unless a miracle happens, best we can hope for is he sees one X-mas. (All the miracles haven't been used up have they?)

We went thru this in 2001 w/my Dad and he lost the battle. Dad was satisfied with his life though as for the most part, the men on our side of the family have relatively short lives. His Dad died at age 52 and my Dad goal was to surpass that with his ultimate goal being making it to age 60. He bested that by 2 yrs, so in his words, "I've acheived more from life than I ever expected. If I beat this cancer, GREAT! If not then so be it, it will be time to move onto something different."

Dad may have been prepared, but we were not.

Challenger - having expericnced a couple of close calls with my folks lately, I can appreciate your feelings all the more. Also, my wife lost her Mom to pancreatic cancer 3 years after we were married and although it was in 1984, the pain is still there for her on their special days. I hope and pray for the best for you and your family. A special prayer for your uncle too.

My Mom got a great report from her Orthopedic surgeon yesterday. He released her from care and told her she could resume "normal" activities. X-rays indicated the plates & screws he placed in both her ankles hadn't shifted. In fact, he told her she'd healed better in 6 months than some patients of his half her age (72).

I expect her to start bowling again in the spring. She bowls in the men's city chuch league. She'll be a little too wobbly next month to join the fall league (have to practice first - reputation to protect & all ~ 140+ ave). You've got to love that competitive spirit (and the fact she can beat the men). lol

Hope your Uncle's Quality of Life holds up so that he can enjoy his family this Xmas.

Clock rules

A 90 min clock. If you do not make your own choice or leave a que to be entered for you in that time frame, then your selection is skipped. And the draft continues with the following manager. The pick is not forfeited, it is delayed.

When the skipped individual is back & ready to make their selection, he may not immediately go in front of whomever is already on the clock and make their selection. They must 1st notify their intentions to select, via the discussion thread, they are ready to make their selection and then they may proceed after whomever is on the clock has posted their selection(s). (Selection(s) refers mainly to Dr. Doom & Taxman, but we may want to include anyone kindly drafting for the individual next to them in draft order.

The clock was proposed as a 11 AM EST 'till 12AM EST time period. I think that is a little late for the East Coast, I know that blows for the West Coasters, but let's cut off at 11 EST.

(Let's see if Cliff checks in with us. If he is still with stone he could be medicated into na na land) (maybe not far enough to draft Jets d :>) He still has a half hour to draft. I've sent e-mails to the 2 addresses I have for him. How about Don, Rick? You two guys are up next.
If you choose to not draft tonite, Don, with a 11 PM cut off, you have untill 11:58 AM EST tomorrow to pick. That probably gives Cliff a chance to surface.

Donny - I won't even ask how you posted in you sleep. My wife, Lavon, has carried on complete conversations on the phone in her sleep w/o remembering a word the next day. Sleep well my friend.

I'm going to take my pick in the moring before I leave to give Cliff an opportunity to check in. He shouldn't be penalized by having 2 picks skipped for falling extremely ill. Having been "stoned" before, it is not what I'd call a simple thing to get over.

Cliff - If you're able to get in before I make my round 18 selection and need to go for what ever reason, go ahead and skip me. I don't think the 182nd player taken in the draft will make or break my season.

Question was premature and stupid. Pick belonged to Matt and Dummy here is holding his que. Pick made. Now PD is on the clock. DR Dearth..it appears to be in your hands. Fred is not coming back home until after the clock shuts off for the night. If you will be around tomorrow morning, you can be the good guy and shut it down for the night and turn it in the morning, giving Fred a chance to draft. Otherwise, you can make both your picks now and PD can make both his tonorrow, hopefully before 12:30 EST which is when the clock would run on his pick.

You type so much faster than me. I'll eventually have to learn to use more than one finger.

If you don't mind, I think you should wait. You have more than enough time on the clock (3 hours) to announce the TSN draft is over for the night, and that is not counting the time PD has. Would have been nice if I could have remembered the draft order and plugged Brooklyn in a bit earlier.

Donny - you also have to use the same browser you initally submitted the post in.

Exam: You have to use IE to edit a post done in IE & Netscape to self-edit the post if submitted from Netscape originally (at least that's what I've found). I use Netscape and my honey Lavon's preference is IE so I have to remember which PC I've posted from sometimes. D'Oh!

When I'm in doubt, I fire up the other browser or a shell like SlimBrowser that has all the IE funtionality, but looks like Netscape and has a small footprint (1 mg).

I can get around the restriction by signing in as a mod, but not via the self-edit link at the top of the page. Hope this helps.

Self-edit requires the same ID. Normally, the ID should be permanent for a given computer/browser combo. Different browsers on the same computer will have different ID's however.

If your ID is not stable for a given browser, one possibility is that you may have exhausted that browser's capacity to hold cookies. To regain cookie capacity, you should delete some.

Occasionally, the IE browser will fail to find cookies that are properly stored. (I have no idea why - just one of those Microsoft charms!) If so, loading the forum could result in the assignment of a new ID.

Revised songs and titles...some how seemed appropriate for this league:

The Temptations - "Papa's Got A Kidney Stone"
and
Procol Harem - "A Whiter Shade Of Hair"
and
Rolling Stones - "You Can't Always Pee When You Want"

By the way, I only received four comments from the league on my version of who you drafted and at what position. Exept for Don,(not Don III) who had forgotten about his pre draft picks of Duane Thomas and Timmy Smith, all corrections have been made that you have listed in the TSN Draft Chart thread.

I will post a complete draft chart at end of round 25. I will use that as my source to enter players in the TSN league (I hope) over the weekend. Please let me no ASAP if there is a problem (other than Don's having let LT slide to the Guru).

dang Cliff, I hate to hear that, depending on the size of the stone, you can tear the wall of the urethra & that when it really get painful (or so I'm told). I don't like the sounds of all the internal bleeding either. I hope and pray that's not the case for you.

Having had to make an emergency trip to the hospital today myself, I'd rather have them cutting on my foot than experiencing what you're going through. You'll be in our thoughts and prayers over the weekend. Try and stay comfortable and jut let that sucker pass through nice and easy.

I tried to set up my lineup this morning, but the system did not allow me to place any of my DL or DB slots. The only option listed for those players is "bench".

I sent an email to TSN.
