What do you guys think is a reasonable time limit between picks? 4-6 hours?

what about drafting time?
monday-friday 8am-10pm central time?

I don't think we should be strict about getting picks in until monday. there may be a few who haven't seen that the drafted has started yet, but by monday that should be no excuse.

I'm interested in moving up/down.

More in moving down than in moving up really, but I will certainly talk to both parties.

email me at the address provided. While at work I don't have access to a real-time message program but i'll check my email every 10 mins or so.

Let me know.

All those times sound good. Maybe start at 6 hours for the first round picks and go down from there. We also really need everyone to make picks on the weekend. I agree that it shouldn't be mandatory, but it's really easy to leave a quene with someone. I'd be will to accept them.

Today is not a good day for drafting schedule-wise for me but usually I will be around for this draft. I'll be around for 3 or 4 more hours so I gotta think I'll get my pick in before then.

Well the HUGE problem is wazaaap_guy hasn't even signed up on rotoworld and he's up with the 3rd pick. I found his email address in one of the others threads and will email him.

Well I emailed him. It was a rutgers university email address. I assume he hasn't started school yet, so I don't know if he'll even get it.

Holt will have to make the decision to drop someone.

I know if we cut a team or 2, we will have less teams than the regular league, but if it is going to be a pain to fill 2 spots, why dont we run with a smaller league?

Wow, it's not even September and Holt has had to make some commish-type decisions.

I see no problem with not being around for the draft yet (though it's debateable), but there is most surely a problem with not having registered yet :(.

I'm looking for someone to replace him, and it's possible he may show up. if both of those things fail we'll shift to being a 12 team league. a 14-team league is more challenging (smaller draft and FA pool) so hopefully we can stick with that.
we're one month from the regular season, and the draft is 20 rounds...

if any of you guys know someone who might be interested in playing, have them register at rotoworld in wazaaap's spot.

In my experience we can always always get thru these drafts in time so let's not have a cow. If after getting wazzupguys first pick we have this problem again I would consider replacing him then. Expect these problems when it was decided so suddenly and unexpectedly to begin the draft.

I've run completely out of patience with him. If you can't check in once in three days when you claim to really want in the qualifying league I question your sincerity. Too bad because I was looking forward to competing with another gurupie I've seen around here a long time.

we'll just replace him. if someone can come up with someone to take his place then that's cool. I've been super busy this week and I'm not gonna be around much at all tomorrow. but don't worry - come monday this draft will be kicked into hih gear one way or another.
if someone finds a replacement - tell them to go ahead and make their pick.

once we are through the first round we will go to a 4 hour clock.

queues are strongly encouraged. if you go past your 4 hours then the draft will keep moving and you'll just have to make your pick whenever you can.

the rifc use 2 IDP (flex). we're going to use 1 LB, 1 DB instead of the flex (because of rotoworld settings limitations).

just want to make this clear before someone drafts 2 LB's to use as starters.

1 team D, 1 DL, 1 LB, 1 DB.

holt - in RIFL #1 we are using
1-3 DL
0-2 LB
0-2 DB
with a maximum of 12 starters (7 offense, K, D, DL, 2 IDP), i think that setting should work

Shouldn't WR/TE be set to maximum:0 too? Min:0/Max:99 makes it seem like a team can start extra wide receivers and leave other starting spots empty, unless that's what you wanted...

Well I drafted RIBC RQL w/ 2 caveats. I don't care what other people have projected, and I don't pick hometown guys (Houston).

Going in to football, I still don't care what others have projected. However, since Beltran (my first rounder) got traded to the 'Stros, and the sky hasn't fallen yet, i'm putting aside my hometown quirk.

What is our 4 hour rule now exactly? Do we all get 4 hours every time? I think we need to have a limit. For example, if you go over the 4 hour rule once, your next picks are limited to 3 hours, 2 hours, etc. Something like that, I don't know...just throwing out some ideas to speed it along.

4 hours is the time limit to make your pick m-f 8-10 cdt. No clock at night or weekends. If you don't pick everyone moves on.

I think we should extend the clock into the weekend and have a more harsh penalty for not picking.

it is getting kinda boring now... i agree that we should have strict rules... for clock... and penalty... i personnaly wouldnt mind and therefoer give you permission to skip my picks if i give no signs of life after 1 hour... but heck...

I don't think it's really that hard to actually guess where our next pick is going to be and then makes plans... (being online or send a freaking queue...) to make that thing move along...

Commish... make a decision and you got my vote

next weekend we can keep the draft clock running. there's no way we can start that this weekend though. have to give everyone fair notice changes in the draft rules.

we can also change the picks to a 3 hour time limit starting on monday. at this point in the draft it should be easy for all of us to put queues together.

I had Winslow in the group with Tgone/Heap/Shockey. Even though he is a rookie, I think he is far ahead of the next group of TE's. I was thinking of taking him with my last pick, so I am happy to get him here.

Roster
1 QB
2 RB
3 WR
1 TE
1 K
1 Team def
1 DL
2 IDP (flex)
8 bench

I really recommend moving this draft to KKB's OTC drafting facilitator. I didn't expect to like it as much as I do. It's way useful to be able to see exactly who everyone has broken down by category without having to track it yourself. Automatic e-mail notification when you are up. An easy way to leave your Q's. A clock so the commish doesn't have to keep track of that. The draft can be broken down alphabetically so you can tell if someone has been taken quicker. It's worthwhile.

the baseball qualifier league some of us are in did draft rationales the way the ribc league did. I don't know if we need to do that in this league, but we should at least all do a draft re-cap when this is done. go over our picks and what we see as strengths or weaknesses throughout the league, or whatever other commentary we want to throw in.
as the season goes on it's interesting (or even humorous!) to go back and see how everyone felt about their picks during the pre-season.

twarpy - what happened is that I made a pick for eugene's team to keep the draft moving and your team went on the clock.
promize signed up to take eugene's team and since you hadn't picked yet I allowed him to make his own 7th round pick (the original pick I posted was about 5 minutes after baldwin picked, and I deleted it after promize posted his pick).
in actuality your team was on the clock for over 3 hours, so pops went ahead and made his pick.

Ok I am in, thanks...

Do I need to enter my players or is that the commish job?

Still trying to figure out all I got on my team at this point, without doing it the hard way and going through the whole draft...

Heck, ill pay half ($5.00) for the kafen draft tool and even enter the players up to now. Makes it SO much easier to see what is available and what has been taken so far. It also shows a grid of yoru team and everyone elses team.

hey all - just to remind everyone, the first regular season game is on sept. 9.
we still have 12 rounds to go, so we've gotta do whatever we can to keep speeding this up.

we should be shooting for 2 rounds a day, not 1.

btw - I think I set it so we can all go in and pick up our own players. so anyone that wants to start filling their roster at rotoworld can do so.

I'm looking for receivers or receivers and a combination of switching picks in upcoming rounds.

Yeah, we need to hit a high gear here quick. I am around late at night, if anyone wants to leave a que for me.

If you know you are going to be out for more than 4 hours, and your pick is in the next 3 or 4, try and leave a que.

Like I said, I'm a night owl, so anyone can leave me a que if they need be.

oh joy of joy.... Twarpy is up again...

I suggest that we go to 2 hours clock, and only one hour for those who timed out once and 0 hour clock for those who timed out twice (twarpy very soon)

lets get serious please...

And No i'm not online 24/7 , i work on construction and manage to be near a computer few hours a day only... but i hate making people wait...

So MY CLOCK IS SET TO 0 just to prove that i want this freaking dratf to get moving

did we seriously only get done 3 picks in the last 8 hours??? Come on people. The middle of this draft is taking forever to get through every time. Is it that hard to leave a que? Battles is around seemingly most times, and Im around every night. Lets start leaving ques if we are always holding up the draft.
