Alright, the topic of dicussion is still the draft. And it is still looking near impossible for everyone to agree on a new time.

Any suggestions?

two suggestions.

1. slow draft. too many conflicting schedules make a fast/live draft seem nearly impossible. use queues. use cel phone numbers. use whatever means necessary.

2. the original saturday night draft time that was selected when everyone signed up.

Ya, it seems it's going to be one of those two.

Bonka, not to put you on the spot, but if you could do a slow draft I think the rest are all in for that. We all would be very very very accomadating to your schedule and would give you the time necessary to make your picks and/or leave a quene you feel comfortable with.

It may be easier to use a slow draft with the traded picks. I have traded 3 picks away for others, and it may get confusing in a fast draft.

Also, with only 10 teams, a slow draft should move pretty quickly.

i am in another draft, and we have no problem using cellys to communicate with each other if their turn comes up and:

1. they seem to be taking a long time to pick...
2. they gave specific instructions to call because they knew they would not be around...

i'm running another draft with On The Clock, and its cool.

a KEY feature that might help - you can designate several people as your queue keepers, including the commish. then that person can pick for you on the page.

while i will not have much computer access this weekend (but i will give my celly to someone), it is something to think about.

you can even change the clock on the thing to turn it off on the weekend and late at night and blah blah blah...

At this point, I would have to say a slow draft also... If that new program actually emails people of upcoming picks, then their shouldn't be much of a problem with someone knowing they are up.. You don't have to sit at the computer with a slow draft, we all sign on each day I am sure, twice to three times a day to check emails... As long as the que isn't something like 30 minutes between picks, then a slow draft would work fine...

Lets start it now, so we don't screw ourselves though!

I agree, let's try to start ASAP, with everyone declaring keepers, and the commish putting those players into the draft before we start.

We need to wait on Bonka's response. If he ok's it we can get going.

We were going to do keepers as part of the draft. That was discussed in the other thread as creating an opportunity to adjust if everyone keeps all their qb's or something crazy.

sounds good..Is there a way to do it without a time restriction...just in case there is an issue...I do not have internet at my house so maybe battles could call me if I was up in the eve and needed to know who was taken and make a pick...I think we should do keepers up front...I know it is not the most strategic way but it will save a bunch of time,a nd most of us have a sure three.

i'm commishing a league using the On The Clock software, so i've got experience.

the commish can set it at no time limit, or any time limit.

each team manager can choose anyone to be their queue master - one person, or everyone. and then through the program, email your phone number and/or queue to that person. it's pretty damned amazing...

as for keepers - most teams declare their keepers. we can send them all the the commish, to keep them secret. then they could be inputted as our first picks, and we can start to draft...

I agree with Marshall and Tree. I think in the efforts to save time, we should declare keepers up front, either publicly or secretively to the commish. That will polish off 3 rounds of the draft right off the bat.

I have to imagine everyone knows who they are keeping, or can assume based on peoples teams. I think it is pretty obvious who I am holding onto.

I don't want to force anyone into anything, there was alot of animosity in the poli draft trying to force the last few people in. Do know this is only going to be a 200 pick draft and it took <1week to get thru 200 picks in both slow drafts I'm in.

You can send me yours now if you want I promise mine are set in stone. Moss LT Sharper there, not changing now barring LT's leg falling off.

Alright, while I'd much rather do a live draft than have 2 slow drafts, I'll go with the slow so it's not a big problem for anyone. As long as I don't get my pick skipped if I'm in class for too long or something.

I like the idea of using cell phones. We could always get #'s put together for everyone and send a text message saying they're on the clock. This would be great for me being in classes and such, that way I know as soon as I can I have to hop on a computer.

I think we're good to go with the slow draft if lilpeeper would ever check in.

Bonka sent me an email and kinda agreed to do a slow draft. He's got a busy schedule and we will have to be very accomodating about the time on his picks.

I also hope that most people are going to check in very frequently at night. It seems that it's the best time to knock 2 rounds out quick.

Sangre(culdeus) sends Barlow and his 2nd pick in the open draft for Legges 1st pick in the open draft.

Leggestand and Marshall have agreed to a trade:
Marshall gets Marvin Harrison and pick 4.06
Leggestand gets pick 4.03

Those are the only 2 I know of.

Maybe I won't keep Vick, or maybe I'll just mess with your minds. I really have to look at who's drafting before me, who they're keeping, and what their needs are to see if I'm keeping 2 RB or not. If Boston wasn't hurt and Ricky didn't retire, I'd have a legit WR keeper too (I thought he'd have a huge year).

Ok, we'll just draft the first three rounds from our available pool. No big deal, I will set the time limit to 3 hours for the first three rounds if you have some specific instructions please send them to me.

The normal time I think 8hrs is fine I'll try to get the clock off and on at 10pm and ~6amCST but forgive me if I miss it once or twice , please do not overdraft between the hours of 12am and 8amCST

How can Marshall give Legges a pick at the 4.03 slot when he never owned it. Marshalls 4th Round pick was 4.08?!?!?!

Legges cant give Marhsall the 4.06 pick because Legges is slotted in the 4.05 pick.

Correct me if I am wrong...because I will be picking first in the 4th round.

seriously, this is stupid.

most keeper leagues have one of two systems:

1. everyone emails their keepers to one person, often the commish.

2. everyone just posts them on the board.

also promize, to further clarify - we did that supplemental draft - we can choose 2 offensive and 1 defensive, as our first three picks (in any order), FROM OUR PART OF THAT LIST, for this draft.

then beginning with the 4th pick, it becomes a regular draft, and every player is available.

also, Bonka, quit being a bunghole. i realize the keepers were part of the normal draft, but there are several different lists of "draft order". when someone seeks clarification, it is possible to do it in a cordial manner. now, don't you have some laps you need to run or something...

Promize, I don't understand your last question. OTC tracks who has been selected and won't let you pick that person again and it tracks everyone to the yahoo database. It however, does not know our keepers those eligible players are in another thread.

Ok, I sort of see what is going on, for right now, all the keepers are getting plugged in...

When we start picking our other players, where can we find the pool of players that are available to pick from at that time.. Or do we have to look at Yahoo, and then back to the draft, and then back to yahoo, then back to the draft to determine if someone has already been picked yet in the draft...

Short version, will we be able to see a pool of "AVAILABLE" players that has already been filtered with the picks that have been made?
57Tree

Promize - OTC uses the yahoo database. when your turn to pick comes up, you put in the player name, position, and team.

if you spelled it incorrectly, or the player isn't in the database, OR HE HAS ALREADY BEEN PICKED, you get a big gigantic stop sign (literally) asking if you're sure.

I'll put players on the teams in yahoo the best I can to help out Bonka. It's also pretty easy to go into yahoo and print off the top 25 at each position and mark them off when your pick is up.

I am in the middle of Oklahoma on business and I have interet access during the evenings. If this is unacceptable then we should have signed up for a "fast" draft instead of a "slow" draft.

I dont agree with the commish making picks for someone without consulting them. We shouldnt screw someone because we decided to change the draft time.

My work cell phone is 469.417.9548. If you really want to make picks on my behalf give me the courtesy of calling me first.

Yeah, I think we'll have plenty of time. 190 picks left should take <1 week even taking most of weekends off.

Doing some estimating based on the speed of other drafts I think 8hrs will be fine thru mid next week. If we have to shrink it we can. No reason to get stressed because it's such a small bunch and we are snaking so two are doubled.

And I just realized I won't be making any more picks tonight. Leggestand left. Now I can see a problem here. Leggestand comes tomorrow, makes his pick, we all make our picks up until b_iles and then it stops again. It stinks that he has no internet during the day, but he should just submit a queue to someone that way we could keep it going throughout the day.

Yeah, we have to stop it overnight. Basically take the timer off so people can still make picks if they're on, but nobody will be skipped if they don't pick.

Also, do people actually get skipped or do you have to enter someone for them if they run out of time?

It's more that people just want to draft. Itching to draft and having to wait hours and hours doesn't help. That's why live drafts are so fun :)

However, I do like being able to research your next pick if you want to, and not having to make a decision within 1:30 if the guy you wanted is stolen by the guy infront of you *cough*Holt*cough*.

this kind of stuff makes me wonder why i'm even bothering to lug all my stuff out of town this weekend with me, give me cel phone number out, and try to make the pic in the middle of a wrestling match, or at a bar later with the wrestlers.

if these people who slag off and can't leave queues can't be bothered, someone give me good reason as to why i should be. it's absurd - the draft loses all sense of fun when people take 3,4,5, 100 hours to pick...
