No clock till the first 5 picks have been made. Then we will be switching to a 6 hour clock. The clock will not run from 12 PM - 7 AM ET. We will need to discuss what to do on weekends, but I would like to see how we progress before then.

Why are we not using Fanball? At least there is a player pool to choose from. I'm sure someone else is, but I have 2 slow drafts going on now and have to keep track of the players myself.

I will leave the draft room up and update the picks nightly. If everyone can't access the draft room, we can't use it. I have given you commissioner rights so that you can input the picks yourself when it is your turn to pick.

I agree, there is no HUGE rush... let's just give Wildcats a couple more hours to go ahead and pick. First round skippage totally sucks, but so does not being available and not leaving a queue!!! *ahem*

I would suggest that you leave your queue with someone that doesn't draft close to you.
In your case, it might be a good idea to look at the guys 1-3. + If you look up top, all of them left their emails in posts 14,15 & 17.

Valkyrie, I am as frustrated as you are trust me. But please keep your frustrations in this thread.
If we don't pick up the pace, this will get ugly. There is no reason not to use fanball (or someone else) for your draft queues.
I am thinking that we may need to limit the draft time to 4 hours. For teams at the corners (last three picks in any round) I would be willing to give a 6 and a 2 hour time limit combined.
Any objections to this proposal?
For this weekend, I think we need to stick to a strict 6 hour time limit. This can be reevaluated next weekend.

You can send me a queue with intstructions (i.e. if I draft a qb in this round, draft a rb in this round and vice versa) or just use fanball.
The time limit for the weeekend will still be 6 hours. If there are no objections, today we will be moving to a 4 hour time limit for teams not on the ends.
However, you have a 6 hour time limit since you are one of the last three people to pick in any round.

By any standard, Bonka is about to time out with this pick. It appears that he had intended on setting or sending a queue, but I have scoured my inbox and can't find anything from him. I don't want to, but I think that need should skip his pick or draft for him to keep this draft rolling.
I am leaning towards drafting for him, but would like to hear comments from other league members.

My reading of your post 61 means that Bonka has 8 total hours for his 2 picks, so that is not up. 7:39 EST would time him out. He knew very well that he was about up. If he times out after 8 hrs, I think he has to be skipped to be fair. But what do I know, Im just a draft filler.....

I know what happened- couldn't wait for Bonka (again) McCareins was my pick but I put my draft queue on again (so I wouldn't slow us down) before McCareins got posted. The draft queue then picked Edwards for me. Should be McCareins as I posted and the mystery about my next choice preference is obviously gone. Too bad we are not using fanball direct at least that way we would only have one site to go to every pick.

Fanball now shows Bonka with McCareins. If this is my fault I will live with it and take Edwards now instead of McCareins but if its not I prefer McCareins- also not sure why fanball picked McCareins for Bonka since we are still waiting for his second pick and my queue is screwed up now so I can't even queue my next pick ??? Thought Bonka said he would be back 3 pm EDT.

I know, it's f_up for now... not that it really has any impact on me. I guess that you and Bonka will have to sort it out yourselves... unfortunatley, if you two can't come up with an amicable solution I would think that our co-commishes will have to rule on the issue (just my two cents).
Bonka did say that he was going to be back around 3 pm eastern. However, his 4 hours are far from over so I guess we will just have to wait.

I doubt Bonka would take Edwards because he already has Lewis so if I get to keep McCareins can someone please pick Edwards for me 7.02. You can set your queue up so that it will only take one player for you and then turn off. This is probably what he did. Thinking this over, even though this was your fault Valkyrie, you should not be punished for using your queue. I am going to go ahead and reset the picks.

I have my queue set on fanball draft but am getting this message when i go to the draft room. I need to get in there to see who I need to pick next. Here is the message I am getting.

You may be trying to connection through an HTTP proxy server. The VolanoChat applet cannot connect to the VolanoChat server through an HTTP proxy server because it doesn't communicate using HTTP. Try switching the connection to a SOCKS proxy server or try using a network address translating (NAT) router for your firewall, if either of those options are available for you. VolanoChat works fine through a firewall using SOCKS or NAT. Your network administrator may be able to help you change your settings to work with VolanoChat.

I had the same problem earlier, their servers are probably experiencing heavy activity during peak draft times. I disabled the chat feature and was able to connect without problems - besides being unable to chat.

I loaded Valkyrie's pick in Fanball and that activated Bonka's 7.14 pick. However it appears that the rest of the players in his queue were taken, or he set it to make just one pick.
I can't blame him in either case, but it doesn't look like we'll be running again here till after 3.

Yes, I am aware of that fact little brother.
However, I had Plummer ranked about 40 some spots on my value board; that type of value was just too good to pass up.
I had planned on picking Philadelphia D; however, they went off the board the pick before.

Hi guys,
Sorry about the wait for Letter_J. I actually had to come back to my office and I posted his pick as him.
Our home PC is FUBR'ed! I will be leaving a queue in fanball. However, I don't like to make a long queue because I sometimes draft according to others picks. Hopefully it will be long enough to last for both picks.
As for Letter_J, if it gets back to him tonight, that might be it for the night as I don't know if we will be able to fix our PC and I sure as h*ll am not staying here hitting refresh all night!

It would also be appreciated if teams would make more of an effort to input their picks in the fanball draft room. If anybody would like commissioner ability so that they can input other teams' picks, please let me know.
I'm getting an error trying to access the draft room so I sent Trip a queue via e-mail for my 10th round pick.

Sorry I was sure I had queued my pick in the draft room but I guess these things can happen when you wait 48 hrs between picks. At least I am halfway home

My understanding is the same. The only person I can see that may be impacted by this currently in our league is Peter N.'s team since he has two linebackers and one defensive back (although RW may have been a homer pick and he also interpreted that LB doesn't equal DL).
In addition, 8 of 14 teams have chosen a DL, and 4 of them have not chosen players at any other position. I never really had a question about this, and since we're playing Fanball I don't think the Yahoo discrepency would be a factor here anyway. FWIW.

Just thought I would confirm that I too understood that one "true" DL was required, although I have not selected one as of yet: You can't fit a square peg into a round hole.

A DL is required. I think guru made this very clear. This league is patterned off of the RIFC, not RQFL#1. If anyone misinterpreted the roster requirements, the only consolation I can offer is an apology for not making this clearer earlier.

I would like to second (or at this point, more like forty-seventh) that motion. A DL is a DL, not an LB.
Well this is great. I've had no internet all day because they decided to take it down on us in the dorms. I only had that queue set up for 2 picks, wasn't supposed to be for more. Why the hell would I draft 2 team defenses? My draft is now pretty screwed up so I'm going to ask to drop the Dolphins D and redraft that pick.
I would like to take Lamont Jordan. That or someone can trade me a RB for the Phins defense. My internet is extremely slow, but I will try and set up a new queue later for my next picks, heh.

Well, we've basically reached the halfway point of the draft. At this rate, we'll be done the morning of Thursday, September 9.
Since there's a game that night, I think it'd be ideal to at least have one full day to set rosters and assess our week 1 matchups (I assume that rosters can be changed up to kickoff of the game for the player/team in question). We need to average about one pick per active draft hour to be done Wednesday night, so let's keep those queues at the ready.
We've done pretty good at being timely on picks up to now. Let's focus on getting those picks in quickly and being prepared to pick. And thanks to all league members for being flexible and easy to work with - I think this is going to be a great league on its own merits.

Bonka...If you want to replace your Miami D pick with somebody who isn't taken, I am cool with that...again, I won't punish people for using a queue. That being said, I would rather you negotiate a trade or at least trade draft picks...this would probably be better for you as well.
Hmm, didn't know Jordan was gone. This is great as I would have taken Moe Williams with that pick and he got selected after me. Guess I'll be leaving the draft with 2 RBs, so someone hopefully will be willing to make a trade.
My internet is extremely slow right now, so I'm trying to check my email.

In the future, if anyone knows their pick is coming up, hide or leave a queue; but don't waste our time. I am paying the price for this one, but won't play the martyr in the future.

a) I was checking my email every 5 minutes for about an hour there and I STILL haven't received a reply from Bonka regarding my trade offer for this pick. b) Sometimes, unexpected things come up that may require an hour or two or three of my time at very short notice. Such is the nature of my job. c) I just walked in the door from work and decided to check the message board (after my email, of course) and was probably going to pick despite the fact I hand't received a reply to my trade offer (so I now clearly see that Bonka will not be trading for this pick). Instead, I am greeted by this. d) The pick before me was made at 22:54. That means the 4 hour active draft clock would run until 9:54am EST before my pick would expire and be skipped. e) It's not like I've been slowing things down in this draft. My average time per pick on the live draft clock through 11 rounds: 36 minutes. That's better than our average per pick thus far of 55 active draft minutes per pick (we ran for 12.5 hours the first day, plus seven 17 hour days since... divided by 144 valid picks through #11.04) f) All that said, I will assume this was an honest mistake and let it go...

I dont really understand why Doug and Trip where skipped or what it accomplished? I think Doug deserves an explanation, and I am certainly curious.
Doug hadnt timed out, Trip was never on the clock, and it was done during the "dead" time of the draft [after midnight EST].

Pick 11.06 Josh Fargas should read 11.06 Justin Fargas. Just a FYI; no big deal at all. I think all understand who was picked and fanball will have the correct name.
I am sorry for not responding to your email. I had to leave after I replied to the other offer and accepted it, so I forgot. There's been too much going on around here and half the time I have no or extremely slow internet access, which I did not plan on before joining this league.

I think that the slow draft might be getting to all of us. Lets remember that we have to co-exhist for a whole season so lets try to be civil... at least for now (I am not above good trash talking once the season starts).
Lets lead by example and not have our thread turn into the circus that is developing in RGQFL #1.
It's all good... as far as I'm concerned post 185 means we've all kissed and made up. We now join our regularly scheduled enjoyment of this league already in progress. =-)

As a consequence, I ask the following:
12 players must be started weekly, correct. Must a DL be started every week? In other words, if you did not have a spare DL for the bye week of your starting DL, would you receive zero points for the DL position? Or can any IDP be played weekly?
Perhaps the answer is obvious and I'm not analyzing the situation correctly.

You will have to play one Defensive lineman every week.
If you only have one DL and he is on bye, you would not have to pick one up, but you would receive no points at that slot. You would however still get your points from the other 2 IDP slots.
YOU ARE ABLE TO DRAFT PLAYERS WHO ARE NOT ON THE FANBALL LIST.
You can do a search in the draft room and find players who aren't listed in the tables on that page.

That was how I saw it. However, the fiasco that is happening in RQFL#1 had me second guessing myself. And it doesn't hurt to bring the topic to the fore so that we are able to avoid any such hiccups.

To clarify, I assume you must have all starting positions FILLED to have a valied lineup (you must have a DL)... it's just that there is no requirement that your DL couldn't be on a bye week, or on IR, or anything else along those lines. As long as a positionally-qualified DL is in that slot (and all other startings slots are similarly filled), then your lineup is valid.

Doug - you are correct, just tried it in another league...you will have to have a dl on your roster, but you can leave him in that position if you don't want to drop a player for the bye week.

I will be out of touch tomorrow and won't be able to check in very frequently throughout the weekend. I have granted commissioner rights to all teams so that teams will have the ability to enter picks made on the boards. I will remove this after the weekend is over. I have a queue of about 30 players entered now and hope to get this up to 60 so that I won't be the limiting factor while I am unavailable.
