Draft Picks

Draft Room

Discussion 1

Great progress guys...we might even catch up to RQFL #1 by the time this thing is said and done. Let's not let up.

The draft clock will remain the same for the weekend - 4 hour limit for positions 4-11, and an 8 hour cumulative for positions 1-3 & 12-14. Clock is off from 12PM-7AM ET.

Please make an effort to enter your own picks in the draft room, I realize that some are unable to, and have granted commish access to everyone else for the weekend so that they can handle this for them.

There may be players unlisted in the Fanball player pool, the player doesn't have to be in the pool for you to draft him. The pick can be skipped in the draft room.

dgrooves, is the co-commish of this league and he has full authority to settle any arguments which arise while I am away.

Again, thanks to all for their commitment to this league -

Trip

Hi all, in a short while I will be off for the weekend(I have a wedding to go to) so I have set up a limited queue in Fanball. If my guys get picked then I have left instrutions in the very capable hands of Letter_J. Hopefully, everything will run smoothly - he won't have to contact me for further instructions - and I won't hold up the draft.

Does anyone know how to enter the picks into the fanball draft grid? As for me, I do not know how to.

If they could enter the picks, perhaps some who may have left a queue will trigger.

Letter_J, to enter a pick in Fanball, click on the Edit link in the box representing the pick you wish to enter. A window will appear and you can select the appropriate pick in the drop-down box. Then just click the Update button and the pick will be entered. If one or more managers have queues for the picks immeadiately following the one you just entered, they will be made automatically.

I've had to adjust my strategy along the way and am relatively happy with how it's turned out, but not how I expected things to go! Great job everyone, I anticipate that this will be a very tough and competitive league!

Letter_J,

are you still OK with my picks or do you need further instructions. I was thinking that you can simply skip my No. 15 - as he is already gone, and continue on with my 16.

Anyways, if you ever wake up or get off the net, you can try and give me a call. I am leaving for Presque Isle at 9:30 or 10:00 am. Be back at my parent's place at 2:30 or 3:00.

Letter_J, Im vice-commish (or co-commish, or whatever), so Trip game me commish abilities on the Fanball site. In the other discussion thread, he said he gave commish rights to all of us, but it doesnt appear to have worked for you. The Fanball site listed you as a commish for the league, but I went in and reset that just to be sure.

You shouldnt need to do anything special to see the Edit link; it should just appear in each of the cells of the draft grid. Im not really familiar with Fanball, so I dont know whats causing your problem. I would, however, suggest closing the draft room and then opening it again. If that doesnt work, you might want to try logging out of the Fanball site and then logging back in.

BTW, I just entered Valkyrie's pick.

Awesome progress guys, amazing that we have only skipped one player...sry again Doug.

One note, scoring for kickoff return yardage will have to be entered manually. I hope to have this entered before the Monday night game for all weeks, but the first week may be a little difficult. I will send a note to Guru as it is almost certain that he has found an easy way to update this information. Please be patient with me for the first week however.

I did have a queue left in the draft room. Sry for delay anyways.

I am thinking that no waiver transactions will be allowed between the time the draft is finished and the first weekend of games are complete. On that note, please make sure you are able to field a full roster of players for the first week. I just queued up 10 kickers so hopefully I'll be alright. I may make exceptions if there are teams who don't have a full roster at the end of the draft, but would prefer not to.

Well Id be against no waiver transactions before Week 1, but for entirely selfish reasons. If that cant happen, I would like to repick my last pick [which would have been easier if Letter_J hadnt picked]. If neither of those are possible, I will just make due.

I assume you are aware that Minny cut Conway and picked up M.Anderson. I would support a repick if it were a queue pick- if not its a good thing you have 20 picks not just 19 LOL and maybe someone else will pick up Conway. Besides the last two picks are pretty much swap out spots to cover bye weeks anyway.

At the risk of acting like MadJerryGunn, Im going to make 2 posts in a row.

Anyway, Im not sure I really understand the reason behind preventing waiver wire transactions before Week 1. Ive admitted my reason for wanting to allow them is selfish, but allowing such transactions is a very common practice. What's the benefit of preventing them?
65Valkyrie

I have nothing against permitting them however I am not even sure the whole draft will be completed by Thursday night much less providing sufficient time for a waiver round- Is there some reason like also needing a DL why you can't just pick another kicker round 20?

67dgrooves
      ID: 513181020

Well there'a actually 17 picks, but I see no reason why I would take us approx. 46 hours to make those picks. Everyone has been great about making picks within the time limit, and a large percentage of picks are made in less than an hour.

I definately think we've got the best group of managers out of the three qualifying leagues. It may have taken us a while to get going, but Im looking forward to a fun and challenging season.

No reason we shouldn't finish Wednesday. We'll likely have about 24 hours before the season starts from draft completion, so I have no issues with a waiver period. I'd prefer that we not apply the reverse draft order to waivers until after week 1, with anyone taking a waiver player before week 1 moving to the back of the line. IMO, of course.

I'm really not happy at all. I have 1 starting back, 1 split time back, and 2 2nd string backs. So basically this is pretty retarded. Gave up Moss and a good team D for Jackson who will probably put up less numbers than Moss and a RB who won't start.

Well guys, it looks like we are gonna cut this thing to the wire. If we had finished earlier I would not have a problem with waiver transactions before the start of the season, I made my post in anticipation that we would not have enough time to allow for this. I hope to have the league entered asap after the draft is complete, but since I don't know when that is, I am not positive I will be available. Anyways, dgrooves, if you are available feel free to process the draft. I will go ahead and set each teams rosters after the draft is finished so that their top draftees are starting unless I receive an e-mail stating otherwise. It shouldn't be a secret, so feel free to post them on the boards. Thanks again.

I may not be able to get back to this to set my lineup with only 6 hrs left.

I think we'll be done as soon as the current picks get updated in Fanball. Is anyone on that can put in the current pick at 20.10 on Fanball? I don't think we have to worry about missing week 1 games as we should be able to set all rosters with the current draft picks made. Even if they don't get put in until tomorrow, I believe the system will allow the games to be played.

Grrrr...

apparently someone has already set the draft to update the rosters and there is no way to undo this. Teams will have to finish the draft out on the boards. I don't have a problem with people picking out of order at this point.

I am about to remove commissioner capabilities for all teams except for myself and dgrooves. Please address any issues or concerns in this thread.

Well...apparently someone already processed the draft. If anyone is around and wants to save me some time, please let me know if you can update your own lineups.

Please note that you will have to set your lineup for both games.

Given that we only have 2 1/2 left to kick-off I guess we aree going to need a ruling as to what happens if we can't enter lineups or someone can't get on this late to set lineups. In addition will the last 4 draftors responsible for this delay be punished or maybe just #20-11 ?? I assume we can fill out the rest of our rosters other than Ind/NE players sometime tomorrow? and anyone who wanted to play a NE or IND player but couldn't needs to indicate so here before kick off??? or they lose thjat option??

I'm out till the AM and will address any issues then. There is nothing that has been done which cannot be corrected, but hopefully nothing will be necessary. All teams are able to insert/remove any player until 5 minutes before their game starts.

Trip or dgrooves -

I am having a bit of a problem with my kicker, Lawrence Tynes. My fanball roster does not show that I have selected this kicker and it won't let me update my lineup until I pick a kicker, which I have.

I am assuming that Lawrence is "too new" to be in the fanball database and that this is causing the problem. Is there anything you guys can do to fix this?

Thanks for your anticipated efforts.

Bandos and Slowhand, you guys still have not made your final picks. It really isnt a huge deal at this point, but there isnt a reason not to pick your 20th player.

Letter_J, I just added Tynes to your roster. Im not sure why he wasnt there, but I think its related to post 96. Someone other than Trip and me processed the draft on the Fanball site.

Hi all,

I have been lurching around and I am a bit alarmed with the present situation. It seems to me that two games have gone by and some managers STILL have not filled their rosters (i.e. 20 players).

Can someone please explain what is happening or rectify the situation as I do not agree with "ex post facto" drafting"!!

I am sure we can work things out... everyone have a great season.

I don't mean to sound accusatory.

I don't mind it at all... as long as everyone has a "pure" motive and get their guys in by tomorrow 1:00 pm.

However, I am perplexed that the season has commenced and fanball does not indicate that all picks have been made. Trusting thats all is well with the world...

I remain,

yours very truly

Grey/All:

It doesn't look like there is anything fishy going on. As I tried to point out in my post 103, somebody apparently processed the draft, effectively shutting down the fanball draft room and ending all queues. Since that point I have added players for the picks made on the board since the draft was closed. Sorry, for the confusion, I thought I was clear that the draft was to be finished on the board from that point forward. Bandos, it appears that you made your pick on the site. Slowhand, you have finished the draft short a player. Sorry about that, but I don't think you would have started him. You won't have any added benefit because the waiver order is set based upon the standings. Bandos drafted Bryant Johnson at 20.13 on the fanball site before the Sunday games began. I think we are straight besides the Slowhand pick.

I am going to hold off on the punt/kickoff return scoring for offensive players until the box scores are official. This information is available on the live scoring page, it just does not calculate the scoring.

Re:my final pick.
I had 5 guys queued up with 4 drafting in front of me,not sure why it didn't make my final pick.Anthony Becht TE NYJ,was the top guy in my queue and I suppose I could get him off waivers;but will also be willing to play with 19 guys if anyone is concerned and thinks this is unfair.Let me know.

Slowhand, I believe that Anthony Becht was who you would have drafted and you will start the season with him on your roster.

Everyone, please check the scoring for errors, the RIFC seems to be having problems with IDP scoring. I will input the return yardage scoring later this evening.

IDP scoring in my games looks kinda screwy too. It
shows Barton with 0 points but every box score for the
game I've checked shows him with tackles and assists
recorded.

I tried to adjust the scores for return yardage, but won't be able to do so until the rest of the scoring is finalized by fanball.

Offensive players get 1 point for every 10 yards on punt returns and 1 for every 25 on kickoffs.
