open points: - time limit: as suggested, I will set it to 4 hours for today until midnight. - clock suspension for this weekend: how many of you will be unavailable or only partly available during this weekend? if over a majority will be available I tend to go back to a 8 hour limit for the weekend (including Monday or not?)
I want to end this draft no later then Tuesday, until Wednesday night would be a waiver-time (order will be in reverse order of picking the draft position, ArtOfMonk will be first, and myself will be last), after that all players are free agents until the begin of their first game.
only 43 picks to go. ArtOfMonk is up, anyone got a queue from him? |

I'll still be around this weekend. I would just rather see it mostly over.
If Art of Monk doesn't pick by noon, then I guess THK will be up.

I will be around for the weekend. Is there a time that we can all get together ?? If everyone is around at once we can finish this is 20-30 minutes

i will be in and out all weekend. from my point of view missing a pick this late in the draft would be inconsequential, and therefore i would prefer the shorter clock to finish the draft. i thought that suspending the draft for the holiday weekend would be a good idea, but if most managers feel the same way that i do about these late draft picks, that would be unnecessary.

I'm also going to be around all weekend; but like loki said I don't think it's a big deal at this point in the draft to miss a pick.

I_A_C - correct as always, ArtOfMonk has time until noon.
it would be great if we can find a time to finish this in an hour or so. But that assumes that every manager should be available and checking this boards every few minutes.
I will be available the whole weekend, usually from 2am until 7pm (6 hour time differential), but could also check later than 7pm if necessary. at this times I'm also open to take queues.

my weekend is sporadic - i will be around on and off, but hard to say when.
it is a holiday weekend anyway, but i agree, we gotta move faster. still, anything shorter than a 4 hour clock is difficult, and could have a really poor affect on people in different time zones.
i disagree that picks this late are inconsequential, rather, i believe just the opposite.
late round sleepers and such can make or break a championship season.

Tree, I agree with you. In RIBC I got Hafner in the 22nd round and currently he is in the top 50 for the season. what a steal. I hope I can land a similiar steal in this league. I have a few players on my list but have to research a bit more to get the right ones in the last 3 rounds.

I have camping plans for the weekend, but the weather this morning feels like November, rainy and cold(probably snow in the mountains). Every pick is important, and based on other manager's picks, so I would rather not leave a long que list. I will be available from about 4PM MST(6 EST) for the rest of the evening today.

tree-i see your point. i do not think that i will find that sort of player at this time, while i guess others might. in ribc qualifying i picked adian beltre in the 20th round and tom gordon in the 22nd. i did not consider them sleepers; rather i knew of their potential as an la fan living in nj.

sorry for the hold up, I apologize got super busy before the game, I should left a que. I could get together today. What if we did 5pmest before tree gets on the train?
Did anyone else watch the game last night? I an biased of course, but Utah is for real. They will get some run, but they have an extremely week schedule. Texas A&M looked horrible, they play Arizona next.
Pancho, I am not a BYU hater, but I hope the Domers win because I don't Urban the leave. Shoot me an email and we chat Utah sports.

nope. no time out for Pancho.
the first post very clearly says there is a suspension of the clock for the weekend, UNLESS a majority say they will be here, and THEN it goes to an EIGHT hour clock.
but there was no majority, so the clock is off.

Besides Pancho... Only Art of Monk appeared to have problems picking. (He sent his Queue to YR.)
I know that a few managers are going to be around for sure besides they are picking in other divisions also. ie. Bandos & Slowhand.
And for post #1... he didn't say their would be a clock suspension. He was just bringing it up as an option. No one asked for it to be applied so I see no reason to use it.

- clock suspension for this weekend: how many of you will be unavailable or only partly available during this weekend? if over a majority will be available I tend to go back to a 8 hour limit for the weekend (including Monday or not?)
to me, that says we're suspending the clock for the weekend, UNLESS a majority of of team owners are here and chime in, then we'll go an 8-hour clock.
we're at the tale end of the draft. why the hard-on to finish on a saturday night during the last weekend of the summer?

Please read the whole post...
"open points:"
No one asked... so why apply something that was brought up, but no one expressed interest in?
I really don't mean to be rude, but I've tried to keep this draft moving along the whole way through... I understand that you are co-commish... but it seems like you exist in this league just to piss me off.
I just ask that you look at the best interest of the "entire" group of 14 managers, instead of focusing on 1. Most of us, will be around this weekend. If someone knew that they were going to be away then they should have left a queue (Like Art of Monk did).
(Again, No harm intented in this post)

loki - if you want you can do your last pick. wiggs said in post 48 that he wouldn't mind to be skipped.
I have entered all rosters into Rotoworld, only the last 2 picks are missing. as soon as they are done, I'll set them and start the season. All undrafted players should be automatically set on waivers until Wednesday night. before week1 waiver order will be reverse order of picking your draft position (like RIFC) , after that the order will be determined based on rankings.
here is the initial order: Art Of Monk TaRhEElKiD Bandos Slowhand I_AM_CANADIAN loki dwfffan Species Pancho Villa Toral wiggs WiddleAvi Tree youngroman
If you want to do trades keep in mind that there is a 2 day-league-review until the trade will be processed.

rosters are entered into Rotoworld and the league is set "in season", so you should see all your players on your rosters. if a player is wrong you can exchange it with the right player.
I got a reply from Rotoworld last week that all undrafted players land on waivers. Currently it looks like that they are free agents. I sent them a mail about this problem. as long as there is no answer on this topic, please do only pickups if the current player I assigned to your team is wrong. If there is no solution (and I think that will happen because time is short) you can send your waiver claims to youngroman@hotmail.com and I will process them by hand on Thursday at around 2am. waiver priority is listed in post 85.
let the show begin!

reply from Rotoworld.com Customer Service:
"The players appear on the free agent list but really they are on waivers. You will see that if you click on one of the players to pick him up. We will check to see if there is a way for you to manually set the waiver wire order for Wed. We'll let you know by tomorrow at the latest."
lets see if they can do this. I have also mailed them about the set-lineup-positional-thing that Tree has mentioned. If I get home I'll check out why they are that poor in performance and will report that problem too. it only can get better I think.

I currently set the waiver-wire off because I can't find where I can change his roster. wiggs you should be able to pick up Chad Johnson, then you will see the Lineup-page there you select your other C. Johnson to drop and should be able to save. I think you also need to set a valid lineup before saving.
Tree - at the bottom of the set-lineup-page are now the positional requirements listed. I'll keep mailing Rotoworld if they implement such little enhancements in less then 1 day.

loki - I got it.
I will wait until tomorrow to see if I get a response from Rotoworld for a lot of questions I asked.
For me it looks like the performance issue seems to be misconfigured web-servers/databases because when I get the connection to their server I get a response with over 50 kb/s.
currently their servers are performing really well , but that could be because it is night in the US.
problem with switching to yahoo would be that the scoring system there would differ in some aspects, mainly in return-yardage and that would change the performance of some drafted players like Dante Hall and others who are mainly return guys.

Tree - yes there should be enough time to pick up free agents. you have all of Thursday to pick up players that play in the season opener, and then you have time until Sunday 5 minutes before gametime for all others. players that are dropped Tuesday or later will land on waivers and can be first claimed in the next week

you should be able to enter your waivers into Rotoworld. I just set the correct waiver-priority listed in post 85. Rotoworld seems quick in implementing features (this one was a must)

looks like waivers were run last night because now all undrafted players are really free agents. So I have to do the waiver-drops/pickups by hand. because of that no manager can do pickups today. I have set that off. As soon as I process the claims (tomorrow 2am-3am) I'll reset it so that you all can do your free agent pickups.
Tree - post 110 was not the full truth. this is our usual Rotoworld-timetable: * from start of the first game (normally Sunday 1pm) until Wednesday night (11:30pm to 5 am): waivers * from Thursday morning until the start of the first game: free agent pickups
lineup-changes can be done until 5 minutes before game-time of that player
if you want to do pickups before Sunday noon and players are already on waivers, send me a mail and I'll add that player by hand. I can do that procedure also for the Thanksgiving week. limitation: players which teams already played can not be dropped or picked up.

dwfffan - I also redid his waiver-claim that went through this morning. waivers should run on Wednesday night not on Tuesday night.
Tree - after my vote, here a more detailed answer to your poll: I also don't like this mail-thing. It looks like Rotoworld has a problem with waivers prior to week 1. claims for next week will be entered in Rotoworld and processed on Wednesday night.

Suddenly I can't get into the sight, because it's asking me to register and I don't have the league password.
I emailed YR with my waiver request, but am not listed in #140 Richard Seymour for James Farrior
Help!

PV - do you have multiple Rotoworld ID's? I use 2 so I have to re-login when I've been in one or the other. Just a thought.

Finally got in. Now, when I go to set lineup, it says No players on this team
Is it fair to say that Rotoworld sucks?

PV - i never got a mail from you, usually I respond to them. I just put Seymour on your team. Looking at your team everything looks fine. you also have a lineup set on Sep. 6 - 9:46 am et according to the transaction log. you can also use 2 different browsers for 2 different IDs/teams.

I'd like to thank those that have been gracious enough to mention the strength of my team or the strength of some picks. Unfortunately I can't return that graciousness because I'm going to kick all of your asses! ;-)
GAME ON!

hey youngroman. hubble just asked me about IDP's getting credit for kick/punt returns, so I e-mailed rotoworld:
Rotoworld.com Customer Service:
By default the IDPs will definitely get credit for kick and punt returns. If you don't want that you need to change the league scoring to score differently for different positions. Then do not enter any scoring for the Default position for kick and punt returns. Enter scoring for kick and punt returns for QBs, RBs, WRs and TEs - that way they will get credit for those stats and IDPs won't
Replying to your message:
hi. my league uses IDP's. we want to make sure that the IDP's don't score points for kick/punt returns. we only want offensive players to score in those categories. can you explain to me how that works?
hopefully this is the default setting. otherwise we'll have people drafting DB's who return kicks. ____________________________________
I don't think our ql-3 league is set for individual positions is it? this would mean I'd have to go back and re-enter the scoring settings for every position individually. arghhhh! I'm really starting to hate rotoworld.

holt - I have set it the same for all players which means defense players get credited for return-yards. looking at last years stats, the following defense players were regular returners: P. Buchanon, RW. McQuarters, A. Rossum, D. O'Neal, L. Brightful (all are DB). none of them was drafted in our league so it currently makes no difference for us.

ok - that's good. I wasn't sure how many DB return men there were. I don't think any of those guys were drafted in our league either.

yr-i put in a waiver claim on 9/9/04. when will this claim go through? rotoworld has the player listed as a free agent; therefore should he not already be on my team, since as a free agent i could pick him up now. sorry for my confusion. thanks!!-l

loki - Rotoworld is a but confusing on that. currently all players are on waivers but listed as free agent. waivers will be cleared every Wednesday night, the next time on Sep 15. It seems that you entered your claim after the start of the opener because all players land on waivers at the beginning of the first game of the week.

yr-that is what i find confusing. i do not recall exactly when i entered the claim ,but rotoworld indicates that it was on 9/9/04 at 9:32am. since that was before the start of the first game, why did the pick up not go through? thanks!!-l

found this on Rotoworld: Stats and points based on last night's Colts-Patriots game will be posted today, Friday Sept. 10th, at approximately 2 pm ET.
loki - I'm not able to see your waiver claims, but I trust you. name me the player to drop/add and I'll do the transaction for you. Rotoworld will investigate that case

loki - the player you have a claim on was dropped the day waivers were cleared, here is the Rotoworld-ruling on that (can also be found on the league-message-board):
"Players dropped the day the waiver wire runs will not be awarded that run - they will be awarded the following run. For example, if a league chooses to have their waiver wire run on Tuesday nights, all players dropped from teams in the league that day will not be awarded that night, they will be awarded the following Tuesday night. This rule is in effect for all leagues using the waiver wire and cannot be adjusted. It is in place to make the process fairer by giving each team time to see who was waived."
so it looks like everything is ok on Rotoworld. Lets see if you get your claim next Wednesday.
