looks like my game with battles comes down to darren sharper and my 9 point lead holding off mike rucker and carolina's defense.

Henry, Dayne, Shawn Barber and Mike Peterson can be had for mid tier wrs or qbs.

I'd like a little refreshment on how the waiver process will work... We also go by ranking as RIFC #1? We post our wish here, through mail, or on rotoworld?

Cheers

rotoworld will process the waivers on wednesday night. the waiver order should also be reset automatically according to wins and points. if there is a snafu in that process then I will run them manually. hopefully it all goes smoothly.

philly vs. on monday night feels like a shoot-out. should be fun to watch.

Speaking of defenses, I think mine might have bailed me out this week.

I almost want to setup a replica yahoo league just so I can get an 'accurate' portrayal of points on Monday mornings. But first, I should ask if anyone knows whether yahoo Fball updates on monday mornings?

Man, injuries are killing me already. Kellen is out 6-8...at least there are a lot of options out there at TE...but along with Stephen Davis, that is 2 of my top 6 picks out already. Not good times at all.

Unless you bet the OVER and watched your fantasy QB fumble on the one inch line. Bah!

Well, with Julius Jones out, Lee should get some more touches, which is nice as a fill in till Davis gets back.

As for my TE, well, on to the waiver wire I go looking!

I thought this thread would be more active during the year, but as opposed to baseball I guess there isn't a daily up and down movement in ranking. Though I suppose injuries are certainly enough to deal with during the week.

After seeing so many RB's go down in the last 10 days, I am quite glad that I took a third starting RB.

Hubble - the road to the super bowl runs through me buddy ;-).

I check to see if it has been bumped, but until someone beats me, I really see no reason in tooting my own horn. With Rashard Lee in my backfield, and Dallas Clark and his one catch as my TE, it could be an interesting couple of weeks.

Freggin ISP!!!

I couldn't sign on to change Arrington, Abraham, or to insert Jamal Lewis into the starting lineup.

Granted, I would have replaced him for Chris Brown instead of Dunn, but that still would have yielded a net 10 points.

Arrington > Wilson would have given me 7

Abraham > Lang would have given me 5 (and saved me a draft pick...wtf did I pick 2 DL's for if I wasn't going to wind up using the second one during the starter's bye, argh!)

I short-changed myself 22 points this week....

but the good news?

I WAS PLAYING TWARPY!

I am thinking I might have to start to DL soon. Kerney is just too good to stay on my bench...he always seems to outscore Bulluck and Farrior.

So far, so good. In 3 weeks, I should have the lead in total points, and be 3-0. The next 2 weeks are harsh, as I run into some bye's where I am going to have to start some bad players, I just hope I run into Twarpy or BH's team.

euh... my BYE week killed me... that really sucks, since i needed only 6 points to win... 6 freakin points... and next week i play against Oaktown Raiders 3-0-0... i think my offense had 1 TD... and it was from Bulger... ouch... of course having 2 from SF didn't help.

I have Eric Johnson TE, SF avalaible if someone cares... i'm looking for backup RB or WR...

Kev, I just checked and it looks like i'm gonna pull a TwarpHen on ya in week 9.

Vick, Chris Brown, Crumpler, Dunn, Barnett, Ferguson, and Reggie Williams are all on a BYE week.

It would be more fair if your week 4 lineup could face my week 9 lineup.

BTW, this site is great. Check out the depth of the standings page. I had no idea they tracked the "Vs. All" category.

I can't believe I was so lazy as to not grab Chester Taylor in any of the previous weeks.

With a roster spot being free after my starting DL had passed his bye week, (therefore no longer requiring me to carry a backup DL) there is utterly no excuse for a mistake this stupid.

I completely missed the boat and it looks as though I might have to pay a high price.

Though I guess if anyone in the league can afford to have some RB woes it's me.

And yeah yeah Holt, you had your fun in baseball, but Hubble and I are out to prove that Football is the true test :P.

Naw, actually i'm a 'Stros fan :).

And if you look back at my draft, I intentionally avoided drafting Astros players so there would be no conflict of interest in my rooting, ie: if berkman drove someone in and not kent, I wanted to make sure I couldn't care less :-).

You know, I picked up Clayton, Marquis, Carpenter, and Charles Johnson ALL after round 20. You figure that I should have had a chance against the Holt behemoth. It's funny, I was going to draft Beltre as well, but figured that I already had Glaus and Dmitri Young at 3rd. DOH!!!!!!

lol - yeah beltre - wow! everyone missed the boat on that one.

I rarely have a single draft pick in the last 5 rounds of a draft that is worth a damn.

and the behemoth thing - you know I picked up santana right before his hot streak. my pitching numbers would have been much lower without him. low enough to push me to second-place probably.

I'll try not to hold the astros thing against ya! I bleed cardinal red. (btw - people say the cubs are the cards big rival, but I disagree. it's been the astros for quite a while now).

Sometimes, it's good to be lucky, as well as good.

I knew as soon as Stephen Davis went down, weeks 4 and 5 were to be my worst, as in week 4, I had no Culpepper to put up 30 points, and in week 5, I had no Thomas Jones. I had to take a flyer with Davis, whom didn't play, and Wrightster, my TE, also didn't play.

Yet, in weeks 4 and 5, I played blue hen, and Twarpy, the 2 most useless people in this draft. It left me undefeated, where as I usually would have 2 losses.

Thanks, posers.

I need to swap starting RB's with someone.

Dunn and Chris Brown both have bye's week 9.

I need to pick up a back who has already had a bye or is going to have his bye this week (week 6) or in week 10.

Look at your bye week situation, and if you planned it as crap-tas-tically as I did mine, lets figure something out.

one of my complaints that there is just too much stuff to go through to get what you want. Especially when doing waivers and fa's. Why does where they go on your roster matter? I put in waiver requests to drop a scrub te, but since I moved him from starter to bench they didn't go through. Stupid. The site just isn't organized in a logical way. Maybe I'm just partial to yahoo.

The pop ups are annoying as well. Everyone has a blocker, but it's still annoying using a site that resorts to that.

I prefer yahoo too, but unfortunately they don't have anything but a first-come first-serve FA system. no waivers except when a player is cut or just added to the system.
with roto-world, you just have to be methodical with your transactions. double-check everything - cover all bases.
it's not great but you can always send them suggestions. I've notified them about a couple of things and they actually fixed them and e-mailed me back within a couple hours.
just explain to them what it is that bugs you.

Well, I thought this week was going to be tough for me early on. I was able to pick up Brad Hoover off waivers Saturday, whom produced nicely for me, and finally got a big game out of Jerry Porter.

Moving to 7-0, with what looks like it will be 2 teams with 2 losses tied for 2nd.

My team still could collapse. Injuries could still happen, but right now, I am very happy sitting where I aml. Someone probably is going to have to go undefeated the rest of the way to beat me out of first- and if that happens- all the power to them.

I have also been very fortunate. I haven't had someone put up 100 points against me yet. That makes things easier!

Did I miss it completely in the rules where we don't have a playoffs in this league?

Crap, I had been playing that way the entire time...going so far as to not take a Corey Dillon trade b/c the Pats obviously wouldn't play him for any significant snaps in weeks 14-15-16.

Can someone clarify?

go to the leage home page, then go down to where it has the week 8 matchups. click on your teams w/l record and it will take you the week 8 results page. now click on the zero next to the team that you want to see the points for. they are actually updated during the games.

not sure what type of deal you were thinking of.

I know my brother (fugazi) wants to make a deal for a RB but he's a procrastinating family guy and hasn't gotten around to using the forum here. this is his first year playing fantasy football. I tried to warn him not to get into trouble with his RB's but he's learning the hard way.

Everyone is so high on RB's being so important. Draft the best player available in the first round, then grab RB's after that. Injuries will kill you no matter what- if you have 3 RB's, and one goes down, there goes your depth.

I drafted Thomas Jones and Stephen Davis- both now are banged up, and I have had to play the waiver wire game, and try and hit Bettis' TD games.

Injuries happen. RB's are hard to come by, but I always believe in taking the best talent rather than claw for positions.

And I'm still in first, even though that probably will change soon, thanks to my injuries.

looks like wazaap guy didn't set his starters and may lose to twarpy because of it.
more important than a loss for him is that his points were enough to put him in the 8th playoff spot (before today anyway).
the last 2 playoff spots are completely based on total points, not wins, IIRC.

anyway - this is the 2nd week in a row I should have started roethlisberger instead of mcnabb. starting to see a trend here. wouldn't have been enough for a win anyway. promize's team was beastly today and I lose 140-120. : (

Hum... week 10... i've been complaining over my RB corps since week 1... Now with Onterrio Smith and Derrick Blaylock starting this week, i have 4 starter... Dillon and Barlow being the others...

Dillon has 3 100 yds game in a row... but is facing BUF...
Barlow is over due and is facing CAR
Smith had a very good come back week and is facing GB
And Blaylock is a strong match up vs NO supposedly...

i just don't know what to do... i foresee 1 of the 4 having a monster day... and being on my bench... Murphy's law...

My prediction:
Dillon 110 yds 1 td = 17 pts
Barlow 100 yds 2 td = 22 pts
Smith 120 yds 0 tds = 12 pts (mostly through pass)
Blaylock 120 yds 1 td = 18 pts

Now i'm just hoping Blaylock goes for another 4 td...

Good luck all

argh! yet again I run into someone having their best week of the season (hubble scoring around 150!).

I'm just a few points shy of leading the league in points, but I've been outscored by my opponents. I'm probably lucky I have a winning record.

I'm having a good week again (td's from 5 players plus 160 yards from faulk) but I'm gonna need 40 points from mcnabb and the eagles defense to pull this out. not gonna happen.

I think I'm pretty secure for a playoff spot, but I don't like losing! :D

Sorry man, but i guess the only way i could have go wrong was by picking O. Smith... As the 3 other RB did good... Blalock 28.4, Barlow 17.8 and even Dillon could have gotten me 15.6...
I had B. Stockley on my bench... 26.2 in the trash... :)

No skill involved here... all my guys did good even those on the bench... it was just bond to happend... i had my share of bad luck... as my record shows... 3-6... Hopefully these points will earn me a spot in the playoff through the back door...

Well, first place on the line this week, after I ended fugazi's "Peyton" winning streak!

9-2 Oaktown Raiders vs 9-2 Championship HereIcome

I can't tell you how many weeks my IDP's have saved me, including last week, with Farrior's INT return for a TD. It's amazing how those 3 positions have gotten me where I am, tied for first.

It looks like Oaktown will be without Zach Thomas for the stretch drive. Insert- Mike Vrabel. Not a bad guy to have to put in there.

Still, for me to win, once again, I am going to need huge performances out of my IDP's. I really like Oaktown's matchups. Griese should have a big day, along with Tiki and LT, and his WR's are all deep threats.

It's going to come down to Daunte having a 4 or 5 TD game.

Should be interesting. I am for sure the dog this week.

Should be a good game... even though you're in first place...

And to answer your question... i think finnishing first gives you only the chance to match the weakest opponent possible throughout the playoff... doesn't mean much if you don't win the last 4 games in a row... Pretty much like the super bowl champion... One bad week... and you're out!

As for next year, i'm taking note to consider the last 4 weeks into account... (looking at schedule of my propect players)...

hubble - I'm aware that there has been some discussion in the rifc and other ql's about fa's during the playoffs.

I don't know what their decisions were, but to me it wrong to introduce a rule so late in the season. our rosters are so limited in size that you can't possibly carry backups for every position anyway.

I can guarantee that nothing unfair will happen though, because if we see someone who is out of the running suddenly cutting players just to make them available (which won't happen) then I will just put those players back on that person's roster.

Holt, i totally agree with you...

Though i must admit i didnt pick a TE for this week end even though i knew D. Graham was going to be bench... i didnt really knew what to do... the good news was that kev's TE didnt play either... so it made things fair. :)

But i was tempted to look for a replacement TE for next week... (that is if Bulluck doesn't go crazy for 17 pts, wich could very much happen knowing my luck).

cheers...

Damn it!

When do pitchers and catchers report?

No seriously though, that was just pathetic.

I was 20 points (minimum: depending on if Brown outscores Betts) shy of my maximum lineup output.

My opponent was only 3 points shy of it.

Either way, it would take a really good game from both Tynes and Brown for a win, but that's just pathetic!

does anyone know right off-hand if the ribc is re-seeding the brackets? if we don't re-seed then we'd have 1 vs. 4 and 6 vs. 7. that doesn't seem right but I'd like to know for sure.

man - I lost to my bro by 1.8 points. we were watching the game, and mason made that 20 yd catch right at the end, which would have been enough to give me the win. but then instant replay showed he didn't have control of it. argh. there was a brief moment of time there where it looked like I had pulled out a victory.

I hate that geek manning.

by not re-seeding, you mean the brackets stay fixed?

in that case, the matchups will be:

1-A's guy
4-promize

6-fugazi
7-hubble

from the rifc rules:
Playoffs
8 teams
Top 6 W/L records are seeded 1-6
Top remaining total points are seeded 7-8
Teams with equivalent W/L records are seeded based on head-to-head first, then total points
Bracket is fixed (no reseeding after each round)

so the above matchups are correct. the original bracket is fixed.

my bro is still kicking himself. he intended to start randle el. in fact, I was at his house when he was making his roster changes and I thought I saw him bench morton for randle el, but apparently that didn't happen. that 25 points would have been enough to give him the win. that's ok though - this was his first year of FF and he learned a valuable lesson - always double check your lineup, even if you're worn out from work and your kid is chewing on the dog's ear - always double-check.

...i was away from computer all week-end... in holidays in Vermont, all i could remember .. and wish ... was that Morton was still in the lineup... and Randle El on the bench.

One thing about those fantasy league... they sure make you worry...

One more to go...

Im still kicking myself for starting Denver over Jags, and I have been doing FF for a long time...you still forget to check that you actually made the changes you want.

Im kicking myself even harder after seeing what my team would have done last weekend. Doh!

Congrats AG

Too bad leftwich was injured... i should have started Bulger but heck! I think i should be pretty happy to finnish 2nd... After a disatrous (and unlucky) start.. 1W - 5L after 6 games... I managed to get 5W - 2L in next 7 game to clinch a playoff spot...

I wanna thank Muhsin Muhammad for his strong finnish and probably being the steal of the draft :)

It was my first year of fantasy football... and i'll be back next year with nothing less than a win... :)

Thanks, it was a fun season.

It was nice to see that studly RBs DO win fantasy leagues. Right, Kev? ;)

I have to be honest though. I'm surprised to be finishing at the top, considering what happened early in the season. My QB situation was a total mess and I had lost my top receiver in Steve Smith. And Heap was out for a long time as well.

Thanks to all those who stuck around and made this a competetive league. I will do my best to represent in the RIFC. :)

AG...great job winning. You would have beat me in the championship had my team made it...I can take that away...

Good luck in the RIFC
