Let the smack talk begin (actually continue is a better word)

I'll start the conversation with a question. What was the root cause of the elimination of the teams in week 1-4? (Stating that they had the lowest score is a given but what really happened???)

My take...

Champs--Really it was bad luck to get the boot in week 1 with a decent score of 59.5 (decent against 17 other teams). Over the long haul his RB situation and lack of a star WR would have done him in anyways.

GCobb--Drafting 3 rookie RB's and losing your #1 pick, McCallister to injury but not before he gets a -2 hurts. Lack of sure fire starters options at RB and WR (Only 2 WR isn't enough)coupled with 3 QB's surplus doomed this squad in from the start. I didn't expect him out in week 2 but it was inevitable.

AJaye--1 QB, 1 starting RB and injuries decimated his squad. We predicted his demise for 3 weeks and FINALLY it happened.

JoeFut2--Ultimately the lack of quality RB's did him in. Moss is a stud and this team was solid at QB and WR but you have to have to at least have 2 starters at RB.

Overall YTD point total rankings of 4 teams eliminated is 18,17, 16 and 8 so on the whole the weakest links are being exposed.

B2 your sitting at #15 in total points scored and you have NO RB's that start! Your time is coming as soon as McNabb has an off week, but that may not be until the Super Bowl! :-)

Let me throw out who very well could be the final two and this will be saved by some off of the wall chance I am right it will be here. I predict the final two will be, drumroll please.........

STB and Corky.

They both have issues but I can see them making in to the finals.

Big Ed,

I hate to ask but you do know that our BBM leagues playoffs start tomorrow, right? Why in the world are you only pitching Schilling twice when you could have used him 3 times against me (if it goes that far)? Just wondering.

Scott,
I appreciate the vote of confidence but I am afraid weeks 6 and 7 look really scary for me. Week 6 I have no QB and my top RB on a bye. Week 7 I have my top WR and another WR sitting out. That could be really tough for me. I agree STB looks strong and there are a few others out there that have really good teams.

I do what I can. I just like the setup of youir squads. If I had the chance to trade my team with yours I'd keep mine but their is going to be some hairy weeks coming up.

If you really want the jinx Tim, let me comment on your team. I did it last year to you in baseball and this year to Lorin. I haven't figured out how to do it to Ed yet, but I will keep trying.

Mike i think you did that when you said "it will be hard for Trash to best Ed's team in the WOF baseball final". Mike, saying your good is the Kiss of death.

I still think Scotty, Mike, STB and Shak have decent teams and are well set up to last a while. I do like Corky's teams, not having a QB will hurt at some point. Shak looks like the Lucky team so far, he's had a few close calls and that may bode well for later on.

I know I'm second in scoring, but I have a better chance at having a bad week, with no kicker and one decent RB. With Culpepper I could hang around a while. It will get tougher once a few more teams are eliminated, meaning there are a few weak teams left and If they go this week and next, that means you will have to score just a little higher because nothing but quality teams left.

I totally forgot about BBM with a football issues I had to deal with! Not that big a deal, I thought everyone had quit about a month ago.

I enjoyed being out front all year, but the league fizzed out long ago and my interest in winning has gone with it. I do enjoy the format, but If I play again, it will have to be with a bunch of diehards only. Half the league was a no show, you only heard from You, Shak, and Buddy on occasions. I can understand the disinterest, it's not to everyone's taste. Count me in next year If we can find some big time sports fans who won't wimper out because they are getting killed.

Ed you will still beat me cause your team is loaded but I thought that maybe you were using some sort of Jedi Mind Trick on me by using your BEST PITCHER sparingly. I have been watching BBM all year but once they blocked it at work it became harder to stay on top of things. In my other league which was very active (last place team 16 games out of 1st) all of my hitters in my starting lineup had at least 23 HR's this season! Good luck and we'll see how the games play out. Scott

Looks like S. Davis is going to play this week which makes somebody stronger and ole RBP a little weaker, Foster will still get touches but no as many as of late. Injuries and bye weeks are dictating the who stays and who goes from here on out.

OK, it's offical--I'm bored so let's start breaking down week #5. Only STB is safe and we have sent 4 of our esteemed members off the beach and they are now nothing more that "scooby snacks" for any Great White Shark that maybe in the area. Teams on a bye this week are Chicago, Bengals, Chiefs and the Eagles. So who has issues? Here's a team by team and a "safeness rating" with 10 being very secure and 1 being "pack your bags". I start with the highest YTD teams and work down.

1) RBP--8 realistic point getters playing. T. Jones on a bye and Rivers is 3rd string. Should advance if everybody gets their average. (7)
2) Ednecks--The "Neck" has 8 players playing minus Westbrook and a K. Needs a decent score from a RB to feel real safe but I think he survives with C-Pep getting plenty. (6)
3) Clyde--All 10 playing, he is safe with any QB production. (8)
4) JDB--QB benched, Garner out for year. I still think he's ok this week but long term bye weeks will kill him. (5)
5) STB--He has the Immunity Idol, rest easy Tim. (10!)
6) Corky--With or without QB points I think he's ok, any time McCown has a big week he advances with ease. (8)
7) SSS--T. Green off and how long can CuMar and Roy Williams carry this team? (4)
8) Champs--Shark bait.
9) Dawgs--No RB is killer with Holmes on bye week. Needs big WR points, I would be nervous.(3)
10) JHHH--Down to 1 QB, might lose Lewis to suspension, long term outlook is bleak. This week he advances though behind Faulk and Co. (7)
11) CPS--We never talk about CPS but as long as he gets any production from WR's he's OK. I think he slides by this week. (6)
12) Shak--We talk about Jimbo every week, if he was leaving in was week 3, not week 5. I think he's ok for week 5 but in the lower half. (5)
13) LHC--No Rudi J. could spell disaster! Garcia must play very very well. (3)
14) C5--Needs Davis back NOW because he's living on the edge. If Davis starts add 2 points to his rating. (3)
15) B2--No McNabb would scare me to death. Vinny must score or your gone plain and simple. (2)
16) JoeFut2--Shark bait
17) Gcobb--Shark Bait
18) AJaye--Shark bait

Just my 2 peso's.

Pretty realistic Scott. Not a bad prediction in the bunch. You have done your homework!

Not a clear cut favorite for this week, but I think the Dawgs and B2 are clear favorites to be near the bottom. Always one guy that fails to perform and that individual this week is "LHC". Probably me, because I get punished for my big mouth at least once every year!!!

Big Ed we do the BBM game 1 tonight. I predict a loss by Big Daddy, in the 6-3, 5-4 range. I just cannot match your hitters in a hitter park. If you lose it's because of the crap pitcher you "chose" to throw at me.

For the record I wouldn't mind seeing a "favorite" get the axe this week but one of B2, LHC and Dawgs are more than likely.

So far how do you guys like the format now that were a quarter into it?

Crazy, Thats the problem with this format. I pitched a 9 inning, 2 hitter and gave up no runs one game and because I was in a hitter's ballpark and he had quite a few hits, I lost 3-1. It contradicts itself on occasions!

I think we all want a favorite to exit and leave some of the weaker teams alive. Your chances greatly increase for another week. I love this survivor format, it makes you think about every draft pick, strategy is very important, and you have to have a game plan, Luck plays it's part as usual. I enjoy it better then my leagues, it's exciting that a team is eliminated and it could be you....Too bad Cobb left early, he thought it was the best thing since sliced bread (he loves to talk football.)

I love it. I think my first pick is what will end up killing me. I can't believe I grabbed Marvin Harrison with my 1st pick. I know better than that. A top of that, he is not having a typical year so far. I am in a lot of trouble but I may be here a few more weeks...there are a few in more trouble.

Scott, I don't appreciate the 5 rating. I'm going to have to place a Low Country mojo on your team now!

I really love this format. This year I went into it just really looking at bye weeks, but there is so much more strategy involved. I can see that even if you get someone who plays everygame is worth more than a potential backup. But on that note, you don't want to overlook the #1 backup either. Do you take all of your bye weeks early or not? I never even thought of that. We have already beaten that to death. Do you take a big name, but fragile player who can score you tons of points healthy or do you pass on him and risk taking a more durable, steady player. Remember you only have to beat one person each week. Exemptions are nice, but if you have a team that will make it to the end, scoring solid everyweek is a must. So many variables to consider. Another thing is that using this format, you have so many teams that it is difficult to even end up with a decent starting lineup.

All of this has to do with the draft strategy, obviously becuase there isn't anything else, but so much more preparation has to go into it. You can't just download a cheat sheet and wing it or you won't see week 4!! I would love to do this for many years to come.

You think you guys are having fun? I'm having a blast. I have had to sweat it out until the Monday night game the past two weeks. I'm definitely getting the most bang for my bucks.

My regret may be bypassing T. O. with either one of my 1.18/2.1 picks. I really wanted to go RB/RB there, but he was clearly the best player still on the board. I guess the main reason I didn't take him is because I can't stand cheering for him.

So, who is going to sweat it out until the Monday night game with me? If you're not going to get immunity, you might as well have an exciting week and have your survivor life hanging in the balance on Monday night. I'm glad to see DD is going to play. I wouldn't mind having an easy week.

Easy Ed, looks like me and you for BBM.

Hey, I have been thinking about it and I want you to take me back. Ok, ok, I made one little mistake, but Im sorry, I wont do it again. The draft was taking so long and I was growing anxious, you know how guys get. And there it was YAHOO!. Well one thing led to another, and you know the rest of the story. YAHOO! teased me for a shortime, making me think it was better for me then you. It teased me with Culpepper, Holmes, Heap, Manning and the Eagles D. How could I say no to that. But I swear, YAHOO! meant nothing to me at all, I was weak and I am sorry. I did not even save YAHOO! to my favorites, its still you baby, # one. And as far as the violence goes, the yelling, screaming, CAPITAL letters, I am so sorry, you just make me so mad sometimes, but I do it cause I love you, why do you MAKE ME DO THAT TO YOU.....cant you see survivor league, you need me as much as I need you.

As I sit here waiting for this week's games to start, I was thinking of a different kind of format for football. We could play this survivor style with an unlimited amount of people. Everyone has to pick a set lineup from any players in the NFL each week. Say QB, 2 RB's, 2 WR's, TE, K, and defense. Load your team up with all of the players you wish you could have on your team. Not everyone is going to pick the same players, so there wouldn't be that many duplicate teams. Lowest scoring team is off the rock. This would take some serious research each week looking at all of the studs and their matchup. To make it even more interesting, lets say you can't use the same players 2 weeks in a row. Lineups would have to be sent by e-mail and then the lineups could be tallied into one spreadsheet and e-mailed to owners. Just an idea, what do all of you think?

Okay,

guys looks like I may be next off the rock with the Vinny performance. That's 2 guys in that game (Vinny/Danye) with little to no points. Hey if I had to go, at least it was at the hands of the Big-Blue Giants.

Scotty, Hassellbeck has about 21 points relax half your team is waiting to play. I'm not sure who's hurting right now, B2 doesn't like his score?

All I know is it's great to have CULPEPPER!!!!!!
