0 Subject: Survivor week #10

Congrats to the nine survivors -- we have made it to the halfway point. I don't believe there will be anymore gimme weeks.

Here is my initial take on week 10:
I'm going to call Ednecks, Corky, and STB safe for this week. Corky will be missing McMichael, but should still be safe.

I was on the borderline of calling LHC and SSS safe, but they aren't out of the woods just yet. Of the two, LHC seems a little safer, but losing Q Griffin will start to drag and the newly found Warner may not be starting much longer. SSS desperately needs C Mart to keep producing. How much will Leftwich's injury effect J Smith's numbers? Could be trouble for SSS.

SuperClyde -- if he is going to be stopped, this is the week he will be most vulnerable. His Miami kids (Morris and Chambers) are on bye and Vick and Dunn have to go to Tampa. Granted, TB doesn't play defense the way they used to, but if the Atlanta offense doesn't have a good day, Mike could be in trouble. He still has some very good players, but, like I said, this could be the last time he is vulnerable.

C5 -- the lowest scoring team still alive will need his best player, S Davis, to start producing. Plummer and Lelie on byes this week. His other QB, Palmer, has a tough matchup (at Washington). Having two PKs will start to have a drag on his team, as well.

Yours Truly -- it's appropriate that I am the 2nd lowest scoring team still alive. Coming off my highest scoring week of the season, confidence is not high because of Pennington's injury. Luckily, Carr and DD have favorable matchups the next few weeks with Indy, GB, and Tenn coming up (that was all part of my master plan). It may very well come down to me needing a big game from Q Morgan on Monday night to stay alive. He hasn't played the last few weeks, but hopefully the extra day will give him time to heal.

Dawgs -- Dawgs will be praying for the Priest this week. If Holmes sits, the Dawgs could be walking. Bennett looks like he will play a secondary role behind Onterrio. That would leave him with two decent QBs and a bunch of mediocre WRs.

The heart says that SuperClyde joins RBP on the sidelines, and the head says C5'd tightroping act ends this week. After finishing with 2nd highest score last week, I will be very happy to finish in my customary 2nd to last.

I hope your right, but I have been scoring low for the last few weeks. Culpepper needs Moss back and playing well.

Very nice on the predictions, nothing better then to get rid of one of these hotshots like SuperClyde..it's about time for him to swim with the fishes..

I think you will need at least 55+ from now on to stay alive.

Nice job Jim. I do have the Miami boys on the sidelines this week, but they haven't been my point getters each week. Alexander has been good except for a couple of weeks. Bruce is always good for a few. Dunn is back and rested. If Vick can play like he did the last time he played, he should pick apart the D. Fingers crossed to make it through, then lookout!! Nothing but the king's throne for me to sit on!!

I seem to remember that "Ed first off the rock" ploy from the start of this thing. Mike it's not going to happen, Culpepper will start scoring 25+ once big Moss gets back. I spread my bye weeks out well enough to scrap.

If Weskbrook is healthy then I will make it to the top five. I think the Dawgs are gone this week..just a feeling.

Jim Beach (JDB) you are dead your body has never been found bud to bring it back? I do think that CPS and you would have made an impact, but CPS had all his backs off one week and you were unlucky having lost Garner and B. Johnson with HArrison and your top RB off on the same week...gamble and like you said drafting Harrison early probably was a wrong pick.

Out of of the OLD 488TH squad me, Proctor (LHC) and the Dawgs are the only one's left. I guess it's bragging right's from now on fellows.

In continuing BigEd's thoughts from last week, I was desperately trying to find draft trends. Couldn't really find anything related to draft position, other than drafting 17/18 is bad. I did discover these nice little factoids.

You're shark bait if:
- you didn't draft a RB in first 3 rounds (Joefut/B2)
- drafted a PK in the 3rd round (Champs)
- drafted 3 rookie RBs or 3 QBs (G Cobb)
- drafted 2 TEs (B2)
- 3 out of top 4 picks off on the same week (JHHH)
- one of your top 2 picks is out for the year (JDB)

You're lucky if you're still alive and you:
- had 2 out of top 3 picks off on the same week (Yours Truly)
- one of your top 3 picks is out for the year (LHC, other 3 teams are out)

You're still safe if you:
- picked 3 RBs in the 1st 3 rounds (Corky)
- drafted a rookie WR (SSS, LHC, YT)

To be continued.

I hate getting kicked off the ISLAND! It really sucks. In years passed this is what we did for teh next season (2005 in this case). Draft positions would be selected 1 by 1 in the order that you were eliminated. Meaning the guy who got the boot first could pick his draft position. Usually they would not pick #1 but usually it was in the 3-6 range, right where the drop off of Stud/Elite RB run ends. I doubt we keep all 18 of these owners together but we could easily keep 13-14 and allow the new guys to pick last. Just another Survivor twist.

Count me in for next year. It should be a lot more challenging for next year because all of the drafting strategies have posted!!

Did i mention how much it sucks to get the boot? I have some other twists for a Survivor league that I haven't mentioned yet, maybe next year.

When we play again next year, we need to come up with a spreadsheet using our scoring system to make it easier. I know Yahoo runs free leagues, but I am not sure if you can input your own scoring system or not. Something to look into though. Anyone out there run any Yahoo leagues?

C5 takes a serious hit if the reports are true that Stephen Davis is going to placed on the IR. No confirmation yet.

Davis is declared out for the game. Good news for me in case a couple of players of mine don't show up on Sunday. Moss is unable to play, so that hurts Ed's chances of a big week. Bennett was named starter, but will still split with Smith. Holmes looks to be resting on Sunday, but if they get into trouble, I could see him coming in.

Should be an interesting week. If Vinetari can play like he did last week, I could have half of my players on a bye and still make it!! I don't expect that to happen though. Ed, you maybe happy with your 2nd to last finish each week, but you are running out of people who are going to be last. Best to be on top like me!!!!!!!

OUCH!!

News: The Panthers have placed Davis on season-ending injured reserve. The running back missed three games after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Sept. 17, returned to play against Philadelphia, then sat out the Panthers' last three contests.

That only happened due to bye weeks. I'll slide back up to the top Five. You can count on it Mike.

I do have a few question marks, but I'm lucky with these type of games. Did I just jinx myself?

I'll out point C5 and the Dawgs this week.

Just because I said you looked good, doesn't mean you won't be fishing with RBP very soon!!!

The only fishing I will be doing is from the rock!! I won't be treading water like you have been lately. Once the bye weeks are done, we will all be on even ground. Mine just happens to be the highest!! I just hope a rouge wave doesn't come along and sweep me off.

Ednecks are back...No worries Mike. I'll stick with the Shak man, he knows what he's talking about. I'm somewhere about 125+ with Westbrook to go. Westbrook with 35 would scare the Pimp's 160 a little come Monday night.

Edneck owns the rock and has built a Trump type Tower right on the beach baby!!!!!

Who's losing this week?

CuMAr has been unreal! I'm not sure where you picked him in the draft but he is far outproducing what others in that round of the draft are. (How is that for a run on sentence!)

I haven't even added my points up yet, but got an e-mail from Shak saying I was safe. Vick, Alexander, Bruce, had good games. Even Dunn wasn't too bad. I could be in trouble the way Duckett ran the ball though. The contract league is killing me. STB has the game of his life against me. Oh well, I know I can put up the numbers and still have a two game lead in my division.

Ed, Trump was bankrupted once and made his way back on top. You don't get a second chance in this game!! It is good that you built the tower on the beach so you won't have far to walk off the rock!!

I said earlier that you would have to score over 55 to stay alive. It will come down to good player matchup's now. Your QB and RB go against a tough D,you might be in trouble..unless your Cmart and Manning that is!!

Mike we all know Beachfront property is the most expensive and desireable. I'll keep the Tower and live large until the vacation is over....It's a crap shoot now. I cam smell a Vick negative game coming soon.....

Too funny Ed. Yes, I could be in trouble with a great D against Vick and Alexander. I have a feeling it won't be that bad. I think I still have a shot every week at Scotty's high points. If I can get everyone to perform in just one week, I will be in there. I am scoring big each week, so there is a chance.

Ed, your beachfront property could very well end up looking like Florida does now after I am done!!

Too true. I'll take my chances with Culpepper. I didn't have the luxury or smarts to draft a top RB at #13. Cmart was the pick, but I think getting Westbrook as my #2 was a gamble, but worth the risk considering his upside and team.

My best pick was Crumpler in the 6th or 7th round. I think the guys with top TE's have a little advantage this year. My worst pick was Coles #3..just thought he would be big this year...got lucky and got Horn with my #4 which has proven too be a nice pick.

Question for everyone: What was your best and worst pick and why?

Looks like Corky is gone. That is another good team to leave. He was looking the best only four weeks ago. Brown, Henry and K robinson have let him down recently, plus McMichael on bye has been his downfall.

Strange that not one Colt is left in this game. All those points from Indy players and not one left palying..must be because you can't count of one Indy player each and every week..Manning spreads it around to much...Losing Manning early was lucky..

Did I mention the curse of drafting in the top nine. If Corky goes that leaves only position 1 and 4 left. Your next Superdonkey and Dawgs.

I think Corky has Akers left and needs about 15 points or something like that. It's still unofficial as I'm going by Shak's Email and he wasn'y totally positive about the exact scores.

My best picks were Muhammed in the 7th round. With S. Smith going out for the year put him at #1 receiver. Not too bad this week though. My 8th pick was Vinetari and has always been a good kicker, but these past two weeks he has been untouchable!! S. Morris could be a real sleeper in Miami at the 10th pick. If he remains a starter or getting a good share of the carries, he will by far be the biggest steal in the 10th round.

My best pick was easily Curtis Martin in the 2nd round. Taking a gamble on a couple of rookies has also paid off... Roy Williams in the 7th and Michael Clayton in the 10th. My worst was Todd Heap in the 3rd... but only because he's been injured most of the year.
