Hope I'm not holding things up, be out till after 22:00.
I'm sorry to the rest of the league for having to put up with some "things" I find offensive, and other things that should be delt with before they become issues for others.
**looking at both Commishes**
If you knew who this was, why did you have to let the rest of us deal with it?
Thumbs up!

you werent egged on. You responded to bids by other managers by whining (gee whats new?), by bellyaching(gee whats new?), by claiming to be persecuted (gee whats new?).

you joined this league knowing full well I was commishing it. You jined this league, knowing full well that it was your constant bickering and my complaints about it, which got you tossed from the last league I started up. I allowed you in, knowing who you were, hoping beyond hope that just maybe,...you had learned something and grown up. I'm sorry to have to say, I was wrong. You're still the same ole Eugene. ANYTHING doesnt go your way,...and out comes the playground potty-mouth "everybody hates me". Truth is Eugene, everybody hates the way you act.
'

You're out. Your team has been deleted from the league website. Good-bye.

big problem is what are we going to do with the players he already won?

I mean I know he has no RBs so that wont help anyone, but buerleson and Holt might be useful.

we have 2 choices...

1) find someone willing to assume his position/squad (not likely)

2) find a replacement manager, and start the process over.

at least, I dont see a viable 3rd option, though I'd certainly be open to hearing one.

let me ask it this way wiggs...

lets assume for a moment that yuou had been observing all of this and then this opening comes along. you get invited to join, but with the caveat that you have to play LTD's squad/budget. Would you join under that conditional invite?

yes, to be fair to a replacement manager...the entire process would begin all over.

I'd be willing to co-run the remaining team with another owner if a replacement can't be found. I know that's not an elegant solution but I wanted to throw it out there. I don't think I could take starting over another time - this has been pretty wearing to be honest and I have other drafts that I need to prepare for soon.

additionally....butthead may have submitted multiple (and I DO mean multiple) "last minute" bids. But so what? For those who have done this kind of auction before (as have I, albeit live), those last minute bids serve a psychological purpose. Say you had Westbrook at $27. 7 hr 30 mins later...butthead bids 28. You leap in with 29. 7 hrs later, butthead says 30. etc etc until its been 4 days and you have him at $38. 7 hrs later, butthead says 39. Your resposne after 4 1/2 days? Westbrook 52. I've seen it. Someone will get pissed, bid stupid high, and overspend something fierce on 1 player. Its all a part of "the game".

Other reasons exist as well. I'll be happy to share them AFTER the draft is done. No harm no foul from my perspective - even if I thought I was going to punch the monitor a few times over Portis. :)

From my view, we've lost two weeks since the original start. I've got other, selfish reasons as well - I feel like I've built a great team and don't want to throw it away and start over and I've given away a lot of my player valuations. I even spent $50 in Vegas on internet stuff specifically to keep up with this and hate to have basically wasted all that time and effort - I realize it's not 100% wasted but that's not chump change. I realize that other owners have made similar sacrifices and that sarge and wiggs have given up a lot of time already, too, so I hate to see all that swept under the rug.

Having said all that, I'd be willing to do it over again if we dump LTD and Butthead and get barilko and legge back (sorry Butt, you seem like a somewhat decent fellow but I don't feel like you handled this well and that barilko and legge are a better fit for this league). I'm not setting a ransom or anything but I think you understand why I feel this way.

Best to all.

I understand fully your sentiments beezer. But I cannot justify booting butthead, when IMHO, he was mercilessly egged by LTD. Yes, there are those who would probably have handled it better. (I for one, would hesitate to put myself in that category however.) Besides, buttheads bidding processes were perfectly within not only the rules, but a sound strategy.

The name sounds familar to me, but I can't remember which league. Was he in the RIBC league?

I have no problem with young gunz taking the team if he is interested.

A new manager taking over LTD's team is by far the preferable option to me.

thx Don. I think all will be fine shortly. Wiggs has a buddy who will take over from where LTD left-off (minus all the garbage mouth crappola) and we'll continue. I need to first be satisfied that young gunz, the new manager, is comfortable with the "rules", the process etc. Might restart the clock tonight, might not restart it until tomorrow. Largely leave that upto once young gunz has a chance to review the teams, rules etc.

as far as "dealing with this". I guess I have myself to blame. I saw the owners name when he registered at the host website and knew immediately who it was. *shrug* Gave him the benefit of the dooubt (not something I have a history of doing btw....can you guess why? lol) and this was what we all got in return. Guess I'll just have to quit being such an old "softy" ;) {yea, yea GL...I know. Now I can just be "old")

HEy guys, I am here and I have read most of the rules. I will keep reading them, but I didnt want to hold the draft up anymore then it already is.

I want to thank everyone for allowing me to play and although this isnt the team I would have picked if I started, maybe it is a chance for me to get to know some more of you and start getting in some more league. I have played a few with you some of you, but some of you are new to me. I will introduce myself, I am Corey and I am from Binghamton NY. Wiggs and I have been best friends literal forever and he is the one to introduce me to the boards. What a great site this is.

Anyways, my email is at the top, Wiggs went out after the game so he cant send me the invite, so if someone else could that would be great.

Thanks again

I'm Jim. Commishing along with wiggs. Old Army Sgt, and I dont think I ever lost that, even after giving up the uniform. I'll get brash every now and then, I'll get a bit short every now and then, and I'll even be fair (every now and then).

I'll get your email entered into the site and send you the invite in just a few minutes. ANY questions over any of the rules, now is the time to ask. Once I restart the clock/bidding, even though you're graciusly coming nto this in midstream, and you'll be held to the same level of accountability as everyone else. (btw, its wiggs job to hold my feet to the fire when necessary. see to it he does that. OK? thx)

I havent seen anywhere that shows we can re-open the bidding. I think we need to restart the clock for 8 hours when we do begin because there are a couple players I would bid on if the bidding was open and now I have to go to work. This isnt a ruling for the co-commish, it is more of a request to the other commish :)

I have a question, I didnt realize that the last guy had 50 of my remaining 100 dollars invested in J LEwis, Is there anyway to get that bid voided out and maybe go back to the last bidder? I just think i am coming into a rough spot as it is then to have only 50 dollars left to work with is going to kill my team?

I think that could possibly be an option as long as maybe we can go back to Butthead leading at 39 dollars, That was before he and LTD began that bidding war. I will leave it up to the head commish, but my idea is

Start Lewis with a new 8 hour clock at 39 dollars to Butthead. This of course would also have to be agreed upon by butthead as his strategy may have changed since then. If BH says no, WG was next with bid of 38.

I'd prefer to void ALL of Lewis' bids and start over at $0 in that case. Easier to administer and it's probably the least disruptive of our options. I agree that having that obligation is excessive and should be undone.

Sarge-
I have a serious problem with the fact wiggs won Clayton at $19. I posted on the board a queue of Clayton at $20 and if the irregular bidding stall never happened this wouldn't have been a problem.

I posted Clayton $20 in the actual action thread during the stall...then posted a queue of it in this very thread. I really don't think Clayton should be sold...

Not trying to be a dick here but I don't think it is right since I clearly voiced my intentions and want to place another bid on Clayton when bidding resumed...even leaving an informal queue to make sure the 8 hrs started over...

Sorry wiggs I cost you extra $$$. I hate being an a$$ but I was hoping maybe you had capped Clayton at $20 or something and maybe I could grab him. I couldn't let that go since I had the intention to bid..

Again, sorry to have it come as far as it did and then me have to argue it and everything...don't take it as a personal attack or just bumping him or anything...I want him and my decreased salary cap forces me to turn my attention to him.

So hurry up and bid if you want to get him in (can't believe I am doing this), but I want to give you a fair chance at him.

apologies for my recent lack of time to monitor/keep-up with the boards/auction. IF you are certain of the 8 hr clocks having expired, post the "30 minute notice" AND request confirmation. Once 2 other players have confirmed, then when the 30 minutes expires, name the player as sold and name a replacement to the board. Also, post the purchase to the "Official Purchase" thread as per the format used so far.

thx frick. this "promotion" puts me back to where I had been prior. Just that this store, doesnt hire fro outside, into a mgmnt slot. You HAVE to start on the floor, and prove that you know how to do the basics, before they'll put in charge of diddly. Somewhat irritating in that I feel as if I had long ago "pd my dues", yet nice in that I know that my horizontal/vertical peers, know their stuff.

btw, the hours? they're brutal. Store is 8-8 Mo-Th, 8-7 Fr and Sat. Closed Sund. My hours 8-8, 9-8, 10-8, 8-6, off, 11-7. Now, the ending time, is the stores "closing" time. 95% of the time, we dont get out of here at close. Its anywhere from one hour to 2 hours after that. That is a general outline of the hours, and it rotates from week to week so the day off changes every week.

I know this could be the dumbest thing a person could ever do...

But you know how my $$$ kept being off by $2 when people were posting my cap situation. Well I forgot to update my sheet...so I was thinking I had $25 left as opposed to $23 for 6 guys.

Right now I have 3 bids out (just put a bid in on Staley) that total $21 or my $23 which means I overbid by $1. Please just kill me now...then take $5 away from me...then shoot me...then spit on my grave for being stupid.

Thanks

Much as I'd like to set aside some of the blame to myself for posting an incorrect total, it's still your responsibility to track your team totals. Thats the whole point of the "fine" in the first place. To make it worth keeping tabs on your bids.

THK with $23 and 6 slots, has $21 in outstanding bids on 3 players. Only leaves $2 for 3 slots. Thats "over budget". His $23 is now reduced to $18 and his bid on Staley at $7, is null and void.

I've been needing running backs since forever; haven't yet gotten anyone good. Part of it is poor planning, part is not being around when crucial players were up for bid.

This being my first year in an auction league, I thought it would probably be a learning experience -- and it has -- but I don't think I like the way we bid.

I'd be more comfortable assigning a value to all the players, then assembling for a fast draft. The main advantage would be an ability to bid on every player, rather than just the ones your schedule permits you to be around for.

Does anyone else feel this idea would work?

Dont Free agents cost money too? The way some people are bidding they will have 0 money left to buy a player on the FA market?
151sarge33rd
      ID: 45522117
      Sat, Aug 06, 2005, 09:29
FA cost $5 against salary cap. If you drop a player prior to wk 6 kick-off, you get 1/2 that players salary back, rounded down. Drop a player after wk 6 kick-off, and you get nothing back.

When it comes to trading, traded players salaries go with them. Nothing says, part of the trade cant be salary cap relief. ;)

young gunz - I am wondering this too. at the moment I am trying to assemble a squad with a deep bench and to have a few $ left to be able to pick up some FA for my lower priced players.

if I look at sarge, frick, butthead, THK and goatlocker and how exhausted their money is I would not feel very comfortable to get good value off the FA market without giving up a good player in exchange. this way someone may not be able to fill a roster with 9 healthy players. I think about bye-weeks for TE, K, D here.

I agree youngroman.

I went $2 higher than I wanted to on Culpepper,
$3 on T Bell
$2 on Boller (I REALLY figured 1 would get him)
$1 on Calico and
$3 on Westbrook.

give me back those $11 and I'm feeling pretty good. As it is, I have to hope for very few injuries. Otherwise, I'll have to find a way to get "creative" in the trading realm.

lol thats understood frick. But when I "commish" a league, I feel a certain amount of responsibility then falls upon my shoulders. I then feel, as if I owe the league and its members, my utmost effort at keeping the process running smoothly.

I understand Sarge, but you shouldn't feel the need to have to check in every 20 minutes. Between the other 11 of us we should be able to keep the draft moving though.

Kev the clock works like normal. If Sarge or Wiggs isn't around post what you feel is the winning bid and ask for 2 other managers to confirm it.

See post 121 for Sarge's exact instructions.

well, our pc died last night, and of course my spreadsheet is on the dead units hard-drive.

wiggs-----with apologies, I'll need to ask you to "take charge" over the next couple days while I look for, obtain, setup a replacement pc at home.

could be SITS, that I entered someone twice on my speadsheet for you. I honestlky cannot say atm. WIll have to replace our pc, move the old harddrive over and copy it to the new hard-drive. then go from there. (of course, with katie laid-up and the demands of the job having just doubled, I may not have time to do any of this until....ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh next June?)

The DePauw is the rather unoriginal name for the newspaper. Keep in mind it was the first collegiate newspaper.
