Subject: Auction Draft Completed!!!!

Congratulations guys! For this being something new to us in the avenue of Fantasy Football, it went pretty well up until the tail end when we were all A) pretty tied of it and B) struggling to name someone not already on a roster that was worth putting on your own roster.
At some point in the next 2 or 3 days, I need for each manager to post their team rosters exactly as indicated by my team roster. (which I will post tonight when I get home fom work.)
Once that is done, this weekend I can load the teams nto the espn website, and we should be all set to go.
Once again...congrats to all, and thanks for the help there toward the end. Between our pc crashing and burning and my work hours doubling....I needed the help and you guys graciously handled it.

User Name/Team Name (as registered at espn. Not every team name appears immediately to correspond to that users name. This will clarify whose team is whose, for everyone. Additionally, it will ensure that I load YOUR team under your teams name and not someone elses squad.)
List Position/Player Name/Price Paid (This will help with the "book-keeping" for trades/Free Agents and Cap relief from early season dropped players.)

Sarge, does everyone have their roster loaded yet? If you do, one option would be to activate the league and let those managers make the drop/adds.

have thought about that Frick, but losing confidence in how well it might work. What I am presently planning on, if I cant get it right by Sunday, is to redesignate the draft as an on-line one. Clean out all the rosters, then I'll just draft into each team, one of that teams players and then continue until complete. Knowing the picks ahead of time, shouldnt take but about 20 minutes tops to complete.

ouch....
Panthers RB Eric Shelton was placed on injured reserve with an injured foot and will miss the entire season. The ailment could have saved him from being released by the team, which wasn't impressed with his preseason performances. Owners in keeper leagues who coveted Shelton might want to drop him on their rank lists for next season.

I believe that Sarge set the league up that way to prevent people who didn't have the cap room, me for example, from adding players illegally.

that limit should reset ea week. (at least, that was my intent. If it doesnt, then we simply do F/A's via email and I'll plug them in myself manually.
Its no biggy really. The cap limit is paramount and that has to be monitored. closely.

I'm truly sorry gang, for the piss poor way this site works. (or fails to work to be more accurate.) I had not used ESPN before, but they had such a flewxible scoring system that it looked like it should work quite well. Who knew, they didnt know how to set up a site to begin with???
Next year, we WILL have a different host site. This off season, we WILL rework the waiver system and we will discuss/decide any other issues which have arisen.
I guess what I'm asking for....I'd genuinely like to see this league continue. I'm just hoping that everyone can remain incredibly patient, while we work through these pains that are encountered, when a new league and a new format, is attempted.

I love this league, it is the only one that I have a winning record in. Actually I have been enjoying the league and I think part of the reason for lack of moves is the structure of the league.
I would support moving the date to get half of your money back. Another possibility would be to base the refund on the week of the season. After the first week you would get 15/16ths back, after week 5 you would get 11/16ths back, after week 8 you would get 1/2 of your money back. This would help managers from being hamstrung if a stud went down during week 6.
With the money needed to pick up a free agent, I can't see the harm in allowing more than 1 move in a week. Based on the number of moves this year I don't think this would be a huge factor, but could help a manager if they needed to drop a more expensive player to pick up 2 free agents.
I love the format of this league and the draft while time consuming was a absoulte blast and I can't wait to do it again next year.
Looking back I have to attribute my steller start to my lucking into one of the two major steals of the draft, Eli Manning, the other being Carson Palmer.

I would be very open to hearing the input of more managers. I'm opposed to a straight pro-rata refund, as the roto system really does do a good job of emulating a players contract status. To that affect, I could see going with a 50% refund through week 6 and a 25% through say week 10, then nothing after week 10 kickoff.
Agreed on the multiple free agency moves. One thing that didnt work well at all here, is that while the site says its in reverse order of standings, the site simply executes the moves as they are put in. It doesnt que them up for sequential execution. Neither, did the managers grasp the idea of emailing me with their desired moves, for me to manually execute in the proper sequence. Thats one of the things we'll need to look for in a new site next season, one that ques the waiver activity, for execution in sequence.
While you can look back at the draft and point at what clearly helped you out, I can do the same but in reverse. $42 for Culpepper and $38 for M Harrison, have totally wiped me out. Thats 40% of my team budget, and it is returning less than 10% of my team production. NOT good at all. I will agree though, the draft process itself, was quite fun to engage in.

For every past auction draft I have been involved in, it was just in the drafting of players. Once teams were set, there was no "cap". That was the one thing that confused me this year. I didn't know if I should be picking up RB's while Jones/Green have been banged up, or if I should hold off because of cap restraints? I knew Walker was a drop, as he was out for the year.
I would be up for doing it again though- for sure.

I could live 50 then 25 idea Sarge.
We have already clarified some points that need to be addressed in the league rules, but overall I would give you an A for making fair and timely decisions as commish.
One of the other issues that needs to be addressed is the effects of trades on salary caps and trading $$. I personally feel that you should be able to include cash as part of the trade. It is a subtle difference than the other manager paying the salary. I could forsee a problem with a manager not dropping a player because it would benefit another manager by freeing up more cap room for them.

I think at a minimum we have enough to continue on next year, as I think this is a great league. Considering all the obstacles this league has faced even just getting off the ground, I think it'd be a shame to let all that go to waste. I'll definitely be back next year.
BTW, the "other" steal of the draft is on the trading block for the right price. $6 for the #1 QB in the league will get you a lot of cap room. Looking for a top WR in return - email me with any offers.

If I had a top WR, I'd have already extended an offer. lol Pepper, has not been helpful AT ALL, and my supposed top wr Harrison, hasnt panned out either.
However, if you want the trade, I'll give Harrison for palmer.
