I was all set to go with Rodney Harrison or Roy Williams here, but saw 6 WR drop off the board right before my pick and I was worried about who would make it back around.

10.03 Jonathan Vilma, LB, NYJ

With a few LBs off the board, it looked like a good time to grab a top guy before they were all gone. Vilma topped my list of defensive players available and was a pretty easy pick here. 9 points/game sounds about right and should be pretty steady since he get most of his points from tackles.

10.04 Brandon Lloyd, WR, SF

As soon as I took Rogers I was having second thoughts. Decided I better get a #1 WR even if it is on a team with a rookie QB. I was really hoping Smith would win the starting QB job as last year Rattay didn't do much as far as passing to Lloyd. Lloyd has a big ego and tends to quit if he isn't happy, and I don't think he has confidence in Rattay, at least that is what I gather from reading clips about him last year. Smith was still the starter when I made this pick.

He's a lean, mean tacklin machine even at his age. Throw in a few picks and a fumble recovery or two and he's still a top 5 safety.

10.11 - Roy Williams, DB, DAL

I decided to make Roy my first defensive selection because (1) he was high on my pick list for fppg, and (2) he's also one of my favorite players to watch and I didn't want to take a chance on him being picked before the 11th round came back around.

I really enjoy playing in leagues with IDP and this is a challenging format where you have to play so my different types of defensive positions and not just flex all the players. It makes for interesting drafting and I like the challenge. It remains to be seen if I'm any good at it though. lol

10.12 Seattle Defense

this was a tough pick. I had no one in mind for this pick since Zach Thomas, Julius Peppers and Rodney Harrison were picked. I was searching for a defensive help here, so I looked at the defenses that are left: SEA, [undrafted] and [undrafted] were on top. I simply took SEA because I think with their off-season additions they have more upside than the other two. We'll see maybe I get one of the other 2 as a backup to Seattle.

10.14 Antonio Bryant

Is a #1 WR on a bad team really a #1 WR? I hope he can at least be my #4. This pick also was a result of his play over the weekend.

11.01 Marcel Shipp

Last year’s rookie RB’s didn’t produce the whole season due to injuries or veterans playing in front of them. I took Shipp with the same thought that JJ Arrington will have a hard time playing the whole season. Also another pick based on his game from the weekend.

11.03 Stephen Davis, RB, CAR

it seems that Davis is healthy again and will play in Carolina's upcoming preseason game. it is also believed that he will split carries with Foster who missed a lot of games in previous seasons. so I took the gamble hoping that a) they split carries, b) Foster sucks and Davis gets the starter or c) Foster gets injured. Foster should have time until week 5 to let b) or c) happen. lots of upside here and that is what you look for with backup-RBs that are well known. the Droughns and company type of RBs will we available as FA during the season if necessary.
With this pick I should have finished my RB-buying-program and will now look for one of the many still available IDPs. I already know my sleepers there and hope they fall to me in the next 5 rounds.

I decided it was time to grab my 3rd WR and it's my hope that Plaxico will take most of the double team attention for the NYG this year and free Amani up to take a more decisive role in the offense this season. He's the one that's been used to getting all the double teams in years past, lets see how he handles single coverage for a change.

12.03 Eric Shelton, RB, Car

I didn't see any exciting picks out there - no reason to go DL, PK, or DT yet that I could see, and the best value I saw was with Shelton.

I don't think Davis is likely to be capable of being a full-time back with his recent injuries (although I'd like to see him come back), so Shelton is second to Foster on the depth chart in my book and would likely be in a situation like Goings was last year if something were to happen. With Foster's injury history, it seems likely that at worst Shelton will get a few starts so it seemed like a good risk.

Plus, I have Foster in another league but don't have Shelton so if DeShaun goes down at least I'll have a bit of consolation that it will help this team.

12.04 Jeb Putzier, TE, Denver

The big name TE's were all off the board and I felt confident that I could wait until I covered most of my other positions before looking at TE. I figured that I could get Putzier late since he wasn't ranked too high on most cheat sheets. Denver hired the coach from SD that worked with Gates, and they really want to target Putzier as a red zone go to guy. They paid him a bunch of money and TEs in Denver seem to do quite well. I considered trying to let him slide another round, but there were too many picks to wait any longer.

12.05 Curt Warner, QB, Cards
This was a last second impulse pick. Seeing Warner still on the board, the temptation was too great. A former MVP, he has the skills and the receivers to rebound in a big way. Of course there is always the possibility he will revert to the Warner who couldn't hold off a rookie QB last year, but the upside was enough to either be a bye week fill-in, match-up starter, or trade bait.

12.11 - Demarcus Ware, LB, DAL

I decided to grab Ware after his game on Monday night. He's only a rookie, but with the scheme Dallas is going to run, he's going to have a lots of opportunites to rush the passer and his sack total could reach double digits this year with his speed and quickness. Of course this is a homer talking so you can't trust what I say. lol

Aside from that, he's a great young talent and will be fun to watch. We have so many defensive players to start in this league, the only difficulty I will have is watching my bye week needs closely as I already have created a situation with him and Roy. I will have to watch the remining picks off weeks closely.

post 41 had wrong rationale, here the correct one:

12.12 Jamie Sharper, LB, SEA

I wanted a LB with this pick and got one. I think he was the best man left. altough he plays for a new team he will be the man there and tackle everything that comes in his direction. He has also to carry my defense-team. an alternate would have been Derrick Brooks who I thought I can get with 13.03, but nada.

12.14 - Jerramy Stevens, TE, SEA

After watching the Cowboys play on Monday two things stuck out. Stevens will have a bigger role in the offence without Koren Robinson. Demarcus Ware is a big time playmaker. So after DS grabbed Ware a few picks earlier I became a little nervous about Stevens. I thought I might be able to get him later but with Wolfer still needing a TE I didn’t want to loose out.

13.01 - Derrick Brooks, LB, TB

Brooks is a solid LB with good tackle numbers and can create turnovers. I hope to get a top 10 performance out of Brooks this year.

13.03 London Fletcher, LB, BUF

not much to think here. it was either he or Brooks, who was gone 2 picks ago. He should be a solid contributor in the tackle and assist department and I am expecting 8pts/gm out of him. what do you want more out of a 13th round linebacker. even the best LBs get only 1pt/gm more. thats the same as DL, DB and K. in case you wondered why I am waiting that long to draft those positions.

13.04 - Kailee Wong, LB, HOU

It was time to start concentrating on defense and another linebacker was a good choice at this time IMO as they were flying off the boards. I decided on Yailee as he's a young rising star for Houston and the move into the middle is going to give him more opportunites this year. He's an everydown player in their defense and will see plenty of action in the ucoming season.

I had 3 DLs in my top tier and planned to wait until 2 were gone before I took a DL. Since 2 of them were gone at this point, I grabbed Kearney. I had him slotted at the top of the DLs so I was very pleased to get him at this point.

With a top 5 guy on my board at each required IDP position, I've got a lot of flexibility to take the best available defensive player late and stockpile other positions.

With Burress off to New York, Antwaan gets to step it up this year. He is definitely fun to watch as he is so versatile. I am not sure if he will be returning as many kicks this year, but even a handful are enough to push him over the other receivers in my book.

14.01 - Dunta Robinson, DB, Hou
I tried hard to find another non IDP player here, and couldn't justify passing up on Robinson. There was too big a chance for another one of his tier of DB's not to make it back to me. In retrospect, I wish I had waited, but I still don't know who I would have taken

I had NYJ and Cincinnati's defenses targeted at the start of the draft as the likely best values at DT. At this point nothing else on the board jumped out at me as a must pick, so I figured I'd lock up a top-10 D at this point so I can take some longshots with my last 5 picks.

Week 8 is starting to look bad as far as byes go with several players out, but I think by that point I'll know which of the late rounders panned out and which ones can be safely cut so I'm not too concerned.

14.12 Ben Roethlisberger, QB, PIT

I wanted Madieu Williams here but he went 3 picks ago. since he is gone I'll wait another round to see which DB of the 3 in mind is still there to pick. If all 3 are still available with 15.03 I need to make a decision.
so I was searching for a backup at QB or WR with this pick. Big Ben fits the bill. he had an impressive last season and altough nobody thinks he can reproduce that he is worth more than a late 14th round pick. if all goes well he only has to play vs. JAX in week 6. maybe I see a favorable matchup and play him over McNabb a few times like I did with my McNabb-Plummer-combo last year. now I only hope that his pre-season-stinkers will not continue into the regular season.
