0 Subject: Survivor Week VIII

Posted by: Shak
- [481029813] Thu, Oct 27, 2005, 15:44

Half way through my first week of being half dead, I can tell you it’s not that bad. I actually feel … well, giddy. I no longer have to be embarrassed about cheering for my team led by Jerry Lewis, Overhyped Vick, and Minus 2 Jacobs. It’s almost like I suddenly lost my beer gut and I’m a handsome devil. That’s not unlike the feeling I get whenever I go to the Philippines. That’s another story for an entirely different forum. Anyway, now I can focus all my prayers on my #1 ranked JBC team – although I may reserve a prayer or two for getting back to the Philippines.

Last week I was oh-fer in my predictions, but I did mention both Jerry’s Kids teams in my write-up. I completely underestimated how terribly lucky the Lewis teams were to have made it to week 7. I did call my own demise once Holt was inactivated. I’ll try to do better this week now that I’ve had my Lewis cyst surgically removed from my ass.

JBC: You won’t have Jerry’s Kids to kick around anymore.

GCobb: Let’s start at the bottom of the barrel. Here we find barrel-scum GCobb, who celebrated his near-death experience in week 6 by finishing 11th (saved by Jerry’s kids). Unfortunately for GCobb, he is among the half dead and he’s pinning his financial hopes on this team (snicker). This team will have 3 players on the sidelines (4 if you include Fumble Jacobs). The WR corps will be represented by Ceary Kolbert (snicker). Gcobb will continue to zombie around if Kevin Jones and Deputy Faulk score big.

Mario: Although Mario is among the fully living, this team is half dead. Mario may be missing up to half his roster – CMart is on a bye, Ramsey is clipboarding, and Green Akers, Dick Bennett, and Roy Williams are question marks. The good news is Mario has two party boat playas in Wiggins and Robinson (we know they can score). This team will survive if Palmer and Dillon can put up big numbers.

StuperClyde: Also swimming at the bottom of the JBC barrel is Clyde. He will be without four players including Edge James – can you say Edgerrin Headache #32? Also out are Lindsay Davenport, Jimmy Walker, and Ike Bruce. Great news for Clyde – Fragile Fred looks like he’ll play! That’s a definite surprise this late in the season. Delhomme, who got his melon bounced on the Superdome carpet, should also play. Clyde will survive if he gets decent points from Fred and Shipp (snicker).

Shak: I had to include my penthouse team because my underperforming overall #1 pick is on a bye. That means I get a donut at QB unless Rattay gets mop up points in SF (wouldn’t that be ironic). I also have dead weight in Michael Bennett (he must’ve missed the party boat cause he ain’t scored since Y2K), and Ced Benson (he missed the boat by holding out). This team should survive as long as Santana continues living the dream and Chad Johnson stays healthy.

Head: Head says one of the barrel-scum will get cleaned up.
Heart: Heart says let’s keep GCobb around longer, so I can continue to mock his team.
Gut: The gut says it’s time to get rid of Clyde and his Edgerrin headache.

ECC: Tough call here.

FNAS: FNAS has so many similarities with GCobb, it’s frightening. Both are half dead and are living at the bottom of the barrel. Both have had their better half suffer premature deaths and are now stuck cheering for death row teams. And finally, FNAS has 515 points to GCobb’s 515.5. Is that scary or what? The big difference is FNAS actually has a good team. Unfortunately, he may have shot his load in week one with his 127.5 point performance. Although he will get very little WR points (B Edwards), he should score some nice RB points with Cori, Rudi, and Wili.

JHHH: JHHH has a vulnerable team this week. His main horse, Alexander, is on a bye and three players are hurting (Bulger, Engram, and Andre Johnson). He is looking at a QB donut, with Joey riding pine. Mike Anderson and the Steves (Davis and Smith) need to hold down the fort this week or it’s going to be a gloomy Halloween for JHHH.

RBP: RBP survived a nightmare week for LT. He was bailed out by a stellar MNF performance by Dunn (and Jerry’s kids). Next time this team scores 39 points, he won’t have a Jerry’s kid team to bail him out. This week, he’s without Dunn and may be missing Kolbert and “Douche On” Foster. He’s also lugging around deadweight in Hutchinson and Walker. RBP will go as far as LT can drag this limp team.

LR: For the final team this week, I flip flopped between LR and Joefut2 and decided LR has to be mentioned since he will be missing 4 players. He has Alge (his parents must have a sense of humor) and Wayne on byes and will probably get donuts for Ramsey and Julius. LR will be looking for big points from McNabb and the Bus, who’s going against the Ray Lewis-less Ravens.

Head: Head says JHHH is in serious trouble this week.
Heart: Heart says do we really have to wait till week 10 (LT’s bye) to get rid of RBP?
Gut: Gut says JHHH will not live to see Halloween.

Shak, You outdo yourself every week. Concise, informative, Witty, and sarcastic. I can't argue with your predictions. Losing JHHH will not make him happy. GCobb hasn't been very lucky in this format, but them's the breaks. As much as me and the Trash get into it, he is always near the top and this league is no different, both his teams look pretty damn good. I said that about FNAS and he lost his best team...

As much as I'm patting the Trashman on the back, he's still a know-it-all punk....just a little light humor for ya Buddy.

As long as I'm never on your projected leaving list, I'll feel better about the week.

Been too quiet all year long in all my leagues, it's like If I don't get somebody mad the league goes into a big Coma!!

Still we can always count on the Shak Daddy to deliver the goods...thanks

Shak,

On the Start McCown or Culpepper question:

It's a tough one, both going against pretty good Defenses in Carolina and Dallas. McCown had a bad week 7 and Culpepper was actually pretty decent. I'd roll the dice and start MCCown, soley on this years stats. Both might be just as bad as the other in the end!!

I thought this quote funny:

The Panthers should be able to move the ball at will on Captain Stubing, Gopher, Isaac the Bartender, Dr Bricker, et al.

Ed, I agree that C-Pep and McCown is a close call, but the Football Guys are extremely confident that C-Pep will have a big game. On this week's cheat sheet, they list him as the #3 QB (just ahead of McNabb) and McCown as #17. I guess you have to take the "expert's" opinions with a grain of salt.

It's logical to start C-Pep, but he only had a good game against a weak GB "D". C-Pep and that offense scare me, but he certainly can go off at anytime. C-pep is supposed to be hands down the second best QB in the league, so it's very hard not to start him. Experts...MCcown #17 seems a little low, for the amount of yards he has and the Wr's. Good Luck

Jim and Ed you guys just as much as the "ekspurts". I'd start C-Pep because if I have him I have alot invested in him not to. At some point though C-Pep would be benched, just not yet by RBP.

Tell me I just didn't hear Jerry Lewis say on tv that it's always in the back of his mind that this is the last year of his contract and he needs to protect his health. Man, is he stupid! He's saving his health so that he can sign that mega million dollar contract that someone is going to give to a back that makes everyone think of Eddie George at the end of his career. Too funny.

Its late here, gotta get some sleep...I checked a couple of the underdogs (gulp) including myself and believe that as of now:
RBP has 49.0 points with Vinatieri to go
Joe has 48.0 points with Ward to go.

JHH was saved by great yards+ TD's from the "Steves", so Mr. Nice guy will be around for another week in ECC. I dont know if there are any lower scores.

HHH: Ran into one of our old friends from the Stein yesterday, Chris Markey is also stationed here at Osan. I told him that our best win in my two years on the Varsity team was our win versus Ramstein in 2002 @ Lakenheath. On a side note certainly you remember the game versus the Heath that year? Refresh my memory, that was 45-42 in 10 innings? Even though it was a loss that was the greatest single game I've ever been associated with. Matt Clegg turned two double plays in extra innings, I do remember that much. Ahhhh, the good ole days....

Joe I'll be your friend. I think next year we need to get some kind of automated stat keeping "machine". Back in the day when Survivor was created we used a stat service who emailed us the results and I'm pretty sure they still use it over on the huddle.com (under leagues born of the huddle and the league is named HEFFA). HEFFA is the exact same format that we have except it is only 1 league.

I hate keeping the stats because it takes a lot of time and I'm not sure we really appreciate how much work HHH and Shak have done over the last two years. I for one really appreciate it.

Joe I'm still here, I guess we need someone to take over the stats, I really can't because of health reasons. I can understand Shak and RBP not wanting to further their embarrassment by watching JHHH and Trash win every week.

It makes sense that someone from the states do the stats, since it's way to late over in europe after the games.

We have been so used to Shak and JHHH just posting the Sheet and not seeing the hard work behind it every week.....Someone willing to standup?
