No preview as of yet, just getting ready for week 9. Who do you think sleeps with the fishes after the weekend?

I can do the stats if you guys want, but they won't be done right away. Probably a 12 hour delay.

Shak any help would be nice and not deserved, but it looks like we don't have much participation from many teams, busy or something I guess.

Without Joe, RBP, JHHH and FNAS on occasions this would be totally dead, just glad to be playing and we have the following teams left:

JBC: LR, Trash, Joe, Ednecks, JHHH, GCobb, Tribe, Mario, STB, SuperClyde

ECC: Trash, Mario, TB, Ednecks LR, Joe, Tribe, JHHH, STB, FNAS

Teams out in both: Harmon, RBP, Shak, CPS, 2Cool, Reaper,

Good luck from now on and I'm just glad to be still alive weather I deserve it or not!!

Hey, I chime in here and there too. Losing a team in the first two weeks was a little disappointing, but there really isn't much to do with this except cross your fingers and hope for the best every week. I was thinking about messing with Shak a little bit after his 2nd team was knocked out:

Shak in post 38

I know you didn't think for a second about taking the #18 spot with your first choice. I'm so confident that it is a handicap that I will bet either player in the #18 spot next year's entry fee that both my teams will beat their #18 team. That's not saying that I'm that good -- it's saying that they are at a disadvantage. A big part of the disadvantage is they don't get to pick until 17 players are off the board.

TB, I'm glad you were thinking of messing with me a little bit after my 2nd team was knocked out, but I think you missed the boat. It's easy to chime in after the fact, but if you thought I was wrong, you should have taken me up on my offer. The offer still stands for next year. You will no doubt have the opportunity to pick the 18th slot in one, if not both leagues. As we both know, this format is based so much on luck and avoiding injuries, but it also requires a good bit of skill, and so I tip my hat to you and the rest of the survivors.

In looking at your draft, you were very fortunate to end up with Westbrook and Barber. I said repeatedly I liked those two backs very much and even said I had them higher rated than DD, which drew much ridicule. I almost pulled the trigger on Westbrook rather than Lewis, and that fatal mistake resulted in my early departure. That would have made a big difference in both our teams.

Picking 3.18 and 4.1 kind of forced your hand to go QB, QB. You picked up Carr and Brooks. It's a true testament to your drafting ability that you are still alive after two picks like that in the 3rd and 4th round (either that or you are incredibly lucky). The 3.18/4.1 and 5.18/6.1 picks are the ones that I thought would handicap you and Harmon.

The picks that have allowed you to survive thus far were your 7th and 8th picks of Keyshawn and S Moss, not unlike Clyde picking Muhammad in last year's draft. Anyway, I still believe I'm right and if you disagree, please take me up on my offer next year.

"FNAS on occasions "

Sorry for that. I'm wrapping up my last semester of my BS degree, I had a guy attempt suicide, one dude caught messing with a married woman, a couple under age drinkings, 21 EPRs, 9 Decerations, a self inspection, an 138 set ITOD change over, 4 trainer modifications,,,,, you get the picture. Normal day in the life of the modern day SNCO.

Thank God Warners back. That just may save me for another week or 2. Some points are better than none.

I agree that hindsight is always 20/20, especially in this format, but those were your words. Regardless on whether Harmon or myself elected to take your bet, you still said them.

Neither Carr nor Brooks has set the world on fire this year, but one of them has done enough to keep my team alive each week. In hindsight, maybe it would have been better to go Brees and Steve Smith in that spot and grab Bledsoe in the next round. Then again, it could have been worse and I could have drafted De'shaun Foster, Witten, Bettis, Barlow, Burelson, Roy Williams, Darrell Jackson, Pennington, Suggs, Dallas Clark, Kurt Warner, Fargas, Harrington, Griese, Porter, Duckett, Bruce, Roethlisberger, Drew Bennett, Lee Evans, Steve McNair, Ashley Lelie, or Marshall Faulk which are all players who were grabbed before I got to pick again. Brees, Jones, and Fitzgerald were the only three players taken before I got to pick again that have been doing great. Ward, Boldin, Branch, and maybe Coles, Mason, and Chambers are the only other players taken in those 34 picks who have produced more than one good week. I would rather have Galloway, who was drafted at 9.14 over everyone else drafted in the 4th and 5th round besides the three I listed as playing great.

I already lost a team in week two, so am certainly not tossing rocks. I am saying that I think drafting in the 18th spot isn't the big disadvantage it is made out to be. Regardless of where you draft, it really is about having your players stay healthy and being lucky enough that all of them don't have a bad week at the same time.

Just my two-cents, Drafting is about rankings and how you precieve those rankings after looking at the stats from last year compared to a player's potential and prior games. Every year is different then the last, No one can predict things like Moss/Brunell/Bledsoe and Thomas having exceptional years and Indy/Minn players having bad years compared to the previous years. So I agree with TB in that it's mainly about luck/Health in this survivor format, The problem lies in some Fantasy owners are always at the top in most of their leagues and that's not just luck...so it's obvious in some cases certain guys know the game a little better then the rest.

As far as picking in slots 1-18 I really don't think it matters in a 10/12 league team, but in a 18 team league I would say it's tougher to select the right guys in the 12-18 range rather then the top say seven picks.

Hey what do I know, just an opinion

TB, I'm not in anyway questioning your drafting skills -- I think you did great to overcome picking from the 18th spot. If you don't think it puts you at a disadvantage, please pick the 18th spot next year and lets have a side bet. That easy -- put your money where your mouth is.

Show me at work in the middle of an exercise. Bored to death at the moment.........

Random thoughts by Scotty McCoy in no particular order.

-- The PAC Ten sucks sans USC.
-- Over rated is spelled UCLA and in Chinese that translates to VaTech.
-- I work with a guy from Philly, he thinks TO is getting a bad deal by the Philly brass. Me thinks TO got what he deserved and I'm so sick of him I could barf. The dude just needs to shut his fricken mouth.
-- Texas is the real deal. Texas will beat USC in the Rose Bowl, I've never been more certain.
-- The two at large BCS teams will be ND and tOSU. I'm hoping they will play each other in the Fiesta Bowl.
-- Why is Jamal Lewis having such a horrendous year? I think the time in prison hurt more than we thought considering he was recovering from surgery. I hate to say it but next year he'll have less draft day value and will probably out perform his draft position. Probably a great 3rd rounder in 2006.
-- The Viking rot. They trade Randy, spend the cap room on defense and get worse. Maybe Randy wasn't a cancer after all? At least not terminally.
-- The Bengals will make the playoffs but will be devoured in round 1 by whoever they play. I'm almost inclined to root for them because I'm so disgusted with the Browns, but can't. The Bengals have done a great job upgrading the talent level of their team. Give them 2 more years and they will contend for the AFC title.
-- I sucked in Survivor this year. Root cause? I didn't do as much work as I usually do creating cheatsheets, not that I follow them anyways. With less prep time and "winging it" in a couple leagues I feel like I had subpar drafts in all formats. Maybe it was the PCS, not sure but no excuses in 2006, I'll be here at Osan with nothing else to do (except wish I was anywhere else).
-- Next year we get some kind of automated stat keeping device for Survivor. This is a stupid amount of work and this year it's x2. Can't thanks the guys Shak and HHH mostly for the work they have done.
-- I'd rather pick 1st than 18th.
-- I was totally BSing about taking Manning #1, kinda. At first I wasn't and after a day or two I came to my senses, from that point on I BSed. Keep you guys guessing I guess.
-- Alexander is a stud. Not even sure I'd say he's a notch below LT, I'd call him 1b at worst.
-- What happened to the Indy Offense? I read an article the other day about trading for S. Smith and what it might take to get him. the CBS article said something like Harrison, Manning and a RB I can't remember for Smith! 3 for 1? Manning and Harrison +1 for Smith? Is Smith THAT GOOD, I know he's been the best WR YTD but I'd trade him all day for Manning and Harrison. But thats just me.
-- Jake Plummer is better than I give him credit for.
-- I have "bad" QB's in almost every league I play in and I'm not sure why? I know why, because in round 3-5 when teams draft QB's I pick RB's and most of them don't pan out. I have a sickness. I'm addicted to Running Backs. "Running Backs make the world go 'round" is one of my favorite says when sharing knowledge with a co-worker who is new to FF. I think at some point my strategy to draft a lot of RB's went overboard and I need to back off slightly in all formats.
-- To win in Survivor you must have a balanced roster, avoid multiple players on bye weeks and hope you stay healthy. Teams loading up on any position are FUBAR if it comes at the expense of another position.
-- I think maybe we need to eliminate the trading. Not sure why but it just seems to comlplicate things.
-- I'm so tired I feel drunk. All swampy from chem gear and no football on for hours. I will sllep for 10 hours tomorrow.
-- Super Bowl prediction (not sure what my previous projection was but I think this is the same) Atlanta 24 Indy 27
-- Was nice to see a team not named the Yankees win the World Series. Not a Yankee hater by any means but it's good for baseball when other teams win. MLB needs a salary cap in the WORST WAY! Small market teams really have no chance.
-- Harold Reynolds said to watch out for the, ahem, Brewers in 2006! Brew Crew? Clyde I know you like hearing that but I just don't see it. If the Angels get Konerko they will be the favorites, if not it will be the same teams Yankee,s Sox (both of them) and the Cards/Stros.
-- Roger Clemens maybe the greatest living baseball player. I never got to see him play, which is unfortunate. Born in Ohio but even he considers himself a Texan. Pete Rose was born in Ohio too. Scotty McCoys Top 10 baseball players that are still living.
Roger Clemens
Willy Mays
Pete Rose
Hank Aaron
Barry Bonds (although I'm skeptical that he is/was on drugs)
Nolan Ryan
Mike Schmidt
Alex Rodriguez (Could be #1 by the time he's done)
Ernie Banks
Frank Robinson
Don't get too excited about my list, I'm tired to the point of total exhaustion and I winged that list.
-- Bets player you ever saw in person (at a game)? I actually saw Art Schlichter (Sp?) play when he was at my High School although I barely remember it. His Senior year they went 10-0 and shut out 8 teams including the entire league. Allowed 12 points all year long and I remember being told that we had the offensive and defensive player of the year in the US (Art and Glenn Cobb). I'm rambling but we were ranked #1 in the US and didn't make the state playoffs because of strength of schedule. I think it was 1978, could be wrong. In college the best player I remember seeing in person was probably Eddie George the year he won the Heisman. After all that Pete Rose is my #1, all time hits leader etc. He should be in the HoF IMO.
-- If you read all that garbage you are most certainly dumber for doing so. I think I'll take a nap now.

I am looking forward to a USC/Texas Rose Bowl. I feel confident that USC will win that match-up. We will see.

UCLA losing to Arizona (ugly) was a serious blow to their season and their credibility, but it doesn't make the whole conference garbage. Heck, they still beat Oklahoma. I suppose if Oklahoma loses to TT or Oklahoma State in their last two games that it will diminish that win. But what big wins does Texas hang their hat on? Ohio State was a good win, but who has Ohio Stae beaten this year? Who has Texas Tech beaten this year? When I watched the Texas-Oklahoma State game, I couldn't help but think they would have gotten beaten badly had they been facing USC that day. Outside of UT, what Big 12 school is impressive this season? Even the Big 10 and ACC aren't overloaded with talented teams this year.

Shak, my brother, I am not trying to pimp my drafting skills. This really has nothing to do with my team this year, just my belief that if I can't get one of the best running backs, I would prefer to be in a position to get two good backs which is near the bottom of the draft. I am not sure where the hostility is coming from or why I have to "put my money where my mouth is.". I am not trying to win a bet or prove you wrong and myself right. It is just my opinion. If I had a chance to draft first or 2nd this year, I would have picked those spots. BUT, every drafting spot presents its own challenges. When you get LT in an 18-team draft, you have a void to fill at RB2 and in this format, when LT has a week where he gets shutdown, you can be in big trouble. No QB is worth owning in the first two rounds, but that isn't going to stop teams from drafting them.

In this years draft, in order of preference and in hindsight, I think my favorite choices would be 1st, 2nd, 14th through 18th, and then work myself backwards from 13th up to 3rd. I think 3rd/4th was the worst spot to draft from. I am pretty sure I won't get a top 2 pick in both drafts next year, so I probably will pick at the bottom again with at least one team.

A couple more points, and yes you will probably be dumber for reading my whole post as well:
-- I am sick of TO. I have always hated his mouth but loved his game. Well, even his game can't get me to look past his stupidity any longer. I commish a 12-team redraft league and am wondering if the other owners would be interested in banning him from our league next year. A "no-draft TO league".
-- One of the two at large teams will be from the SEC. If ND is the other, somebody will get screwed and we will get 6 weeks of "we need a play-off system" talk. I love Bowls the way they are. That is an entire thread by itself.
-- I am in complete agreement with your assessment of Jamal Lewis. I am pretty sure that I won't be the team to gamble on him in any of my leagues next year, though.
-- Next year we get some kind of automated stat keeping device for Survivor. This is a stupid amount of work and this year it's x2. Can't thanks the guys Shak and HHH mostly for the work they have done. I just wanted to echo this. That is a lot of work. I appreciate what Shak and JHHH have done, but I am betting we can pay a small fee and have the stats tracked for us.
-- I agree on eliminating trading. Shak gave up too much to get the number one pick, but that opinion is clearly in hindsight.

My gut says (it says I'm hungry but thats another topic) that LSU and or Auburn beats Alabama. I could go on for a day with all possible scenarios and who is "in and who is out" but the reallity is that too many games have to be played. I think it will end up being ND and tOSU but both of those teams could be FUBAR if an undefeated UT or Alabama lose in the conference championship not to mention a USC loss to UCLA. If Colorado beat UT then both will get in and more than likely bump the Buckeyes if they win out. The Big (L)East shouldn't get a bid. No matter who WV plays they will get bitch slapped, take that to the bank. You can bet that WV will be the last team chosen as the Bowls pick available teams. I think in the end a Co-Champ tOSU and media darlings ND are more attractive teams (travel well, huge fan base) than a Georgia, LSU or 1 loss VT. All you have to do is have 9 wins and be in the top 12 to be eligible for an at large bid. Sometimes teams get picked over, see Cal from 2004. Anyways I'm pumped to see how it plays out.

Looks like Cobb is FUBAR unless something STUPID happens. I need to send out the spreadsheet to someone who can send it out to the rest of the fellas. So far all I've done is the teams still alive in the JBC and it needs a little cleaning up (add in bells and whistles that Shak puts into it).

Not sure why the Sheet is so tough, but it does take time to input the data. Plus I have my score in the JBC @:

Green 13
Portis 13.5
Pittman 5
Taylor 4.5
Burleson 8
Graham 3
Total 47 + Wayne & Branch.

I think GCobb is done in the JBC.

I don't really care about the totals either, but I think some money is going to the Total points leader after it's all over, so it might matter to someone.

A little disappointed in some players just quiting on this league, because thay have lost already, it's sort of like refusing to play and be a team member because the coach won't put you in the game!! I can honestly say, I'd still participate even if I had lost both teams. Course I'd be a little disgruntled....I guess like FNAS eveeryone is streched to the limit I'm just probably talking out my A$$$$$.

2005 payouts are as follows
Survivor in each league gets $210
Runner up in each league gets $75
Highest total score for all 17 weeks gets $50 in each league.
Owner who survives the most weeks combined between two leagues gets $50.

That adds up to $720 which is the entry fee in full, no site to payout, you get IT ALL BACK!.

Well it's not quite that difficult. If you use the position pages I created, it is only 200 scores to input. Then making sure the 36 teams are totaled appropriately. Then making sure the grand totals are sorted. It takes alot of work, but it could have been A LOT worse. Not tooting my own horn, just wishing someone other than Shak would give it a try. I just want to say that I have apologized to Chuck for replying to all and making fun of the fact that he didn't know the rules nine weeks into the season. Of course, I was not aware of the great hardships he has been going through, so although my attempt at humor was purely in line with the tone of the messages on this board and in this league, it was totally inappropriate.

I do, however, believe that Chuck was out of line with his reply to all, but because of all he is going through, I will turn the other cheek.

Chuck, with everything you've gone through, I believe it's encouraging that you can again turn to FF for some relief. You are a much greater man than me to be able to cope with such extreme grief. I would be a complete mess if I ever lost one of my kids.

Please ignore Joe...his Eagles are going through a rough patch and it's starting to affect him greatly. You may have seen Joe on tv recently standing next to T.O. at "the apology" press conference. They guy will stop at nothing to keep the best WR in the league on his beloved Eagles.

Rosenhaus was pathetic. When I see TO on TV I turn it off, so basically it is never on anymore. On a side note before I PCA'ed I worked with SSgt Terrell Owens, look him up on the global thats no joke and he is an African-American (I hate saying African-American but thats a story for another day and another forum) who's in pretty good shape so he says he gets teased about it all of the time.

"who's in pretty good shape so he says he gets teased about it all of the time."
RBP, it good that you like T.O. and T.O.'s physique, but do you have a point here? J/K really though, TO has the mental ability of a seven year old girl and the whole thing really pisses me off. Just to let you Eagle haters know, we (the eagles) are only scoring around two less points a game this year then last. I thank the inflated 49ers score for that stat. But, I do have a gut feeling that TO will be back. The only, way he will come back is if our Campbell Soup QB asks him to come back. This way the GM, Reid, and the organization as a whole can allow him to come and they all save face because their star QB who was abused more then anyone else by TO asked him to come back. Not only that, but Donovan looks like a better person for allowing him to come back to our team.......just watch, it will happen.

That isn't happening. McNabb is sick of his sh!t too. I listen to him ramble about the organization having a lack of class and wonder if he ever looks in the mirror. "...mental ability of a seven year old girl..." That about sums it up.

I think the first step for TO returning is dumping Rosenhaus. Did you see TO's smirk and wink when a reporter asked Rosenhaus what he's done for his client other than to get him kicked off the team? Classic. Could it be possible that the bigger villain here is Rosenhaus (or at least a convenient scapegoat)?
