If I can ever join...I will provide the kafenatid draft. Anotherwords, yeah..I feel very strongly. It is a huge time saver against keeping up manually with a draft..who is drafted, by position, clock, queue..and on and on and on

Finally in...don't understand why it rejected me for the past 8 days...but now I am in.
Contact Fred to set up draft at kafenatid. I have e-mailed him to take care of fees involved. So we should be good to go.

Holt..ease up on the other managers. If you want to point a finger at someone, it is solely yours truly who earned the recognition. I screwed up the start, all I can do is apologize and try to make it up down stream.
This should be a good, very competitive group. I am certainly looking fwd to this. And again, I'm sorry for not reading/keeping up with the posts in this thread the last week. I do know how frustrating that is.

Smith32...in several of these drafts if someone is going to be away for more than a day or two we've excanged cell #s and kept in touch that way .It's worked pretty well and let's you keep a feel of how the draft is going and adjust your strategy as it progresses,rather than a huge queue which can't be changed.
I am usually available and if you will have some kind of phone access shoot me an e-mail I'd be happy to keep in touch with you.

The RIFC starts drafting on Wed., Aug. 16 and commish Trip stated that we'll start at the same time (see post 40).
However, I sympathize with Smith32 (who will be on holidays from Aug 13-18: see post 41) and Tree (who's moving at the end of the month: see post 52) (Although Tree, I believe that at that stage of the draft, queues will be regularly used by some of us; just an option.))
Given that two of the participants have problems, the commish is going to have to make a judgment call as to the best time to start. I guess this is why the commish gets paid the big bucks :-); to make decisions like this.
For the record, although I'm stoked to start drafting, IMHO it is way too early to start now. Otherwise, someone is going to get shafted (a major injury or two almost always happens in the preseason.)

Anyone in the front half of the draft who has second thoughts on their draft position, please let me know.
I have checked in with Kafenatid. I will get invites out to the league this weekend. Thanks again Taxman.
FYI to all, I do not have access to kafenatid at work. I therefore will not make a very good designated picker during the weekday. I also plan on making everyone in the league a designated picker for me, unless you request not to.
Smith, I sent you an e-mail, including my cell number along with some thoughts on what to do while you are away. I'm happy to help you, but let me know how I can best do that.
That being said, I am not comfortable starting the draft before August 13th. I will open up the draft then but will not start the clock until the 16th. The clock will initially be set at 6 hours, with a moratorium from 11pm-7am EDT. If the clock expires, the next person in line will get to draft, and the skipped drafter will make up his skipped pick whenever he can. The clock will continue to run on weekends. People at the endpoints of the draft have only one single time limit to make their consecutive picks.
Please take a minute to review the rules on the league site. Also take a minute to think about any questions you may have. It is better to clear anything up before the draft starts.

Would it be unreasonable for me to ask that my first pick (which will be made from a queue, since I will be away) not be made until the 16th, since there will be no clock and no one else will be obligated to pick before then? I don't want to hold up the draft, but I don't want to be at an unnecessary disadvantage either, so I just wondered what everyone else feels is fair.

I think I understand your position Smith32, just want to confirm. You will be away on the 16th, so the reason you don't want to start before that is that if we did, we would probably get back to you for rounds 2/3 by the 16th, requiring you to leave a 29-man queue if you won't be here.

I will be gone starting the 13th, and returning on the 18th. I plan to leave a queue of at least 100 players to make sure that it doesn't run out before I get back. If my first pick (#9 overall) isn't made until the 16th, chances are I'll only have 3 or 4 picks made from the queue before I get back, which is fine. But if you start early and picks are made from my queue prior to the 16th, I might miss more than 4 rounds, and making a huge queue gets hairy once you get past 50-60 players.

We will be doing rationales. I will set up a thread for them at the start of the 3rd round. I encourage everyone to draft their rationale at the time of your pick. Not only will this keep the rationales from backing up, but it can also help you make a better draft decision.
There is no requirements on the length or format of the rationale, only that there is one there. The only thing that will irritate me is those who refuse to leave placeholders for there rationales after making their selection.

The AOL site looks seriously screwed up, my guess being because we have the same name as a league from a previous year. When I click on my team, it shows me already owning a whole bunch of players (not bad team, either), with the lineup last having been updated in December 05. Check on your own team and see.
Tree is in, although the best link I try to male doesn't seem to work: League standings page.

I have torn my ACL and will be having surgery sometime within the next two weeks. My access may be spotty for the week after. StLCards has agreed to be a co-commissioner.
Unfortunately I cannot access Kafenatid from work. E-mail has been sent to him to turn it on.
I would also like to go ahead and encourage everyone to write out their rationales before they make their selections.
