Scotty has limited access from work, so I'll get things rolling. He are the rules from last year, once Harmon rolls we can start selecting draft positions. JHHH has the first selection as of now. Not sure if any changes to the rules have been discussed, but we;ll do that before we starting drafting.
The league rules had an overriding motto to keep it simple. We draft only 10 roster spots - which is still decent depth considering there are 18 teams - and from the 10 you will start 1 QB, 1 RB, 1 WR/TE, 1 K and 3 flex-RB/WR/TE each week.
Basically we look at your team after the week is over and see what would have been your best lineup and that's the points you get. So if your team is deep and all 10 players are playing then you have a better chance to post a good score. If you have 7 guys who start for their NFL team and 3 who are backups the you need your stars to play better every week to hang around. If you can draft 10 solid consistent players then you should go far. If you draft guys like the Corey Dillon of old who would get 35 points 1 week then 3 points, then 29, then 4 then you can see that on his bad weeks you could be hurting.
The weekly top scoring owner each week will gain immunity for the next week but it will only last through NFL season 15. Week 16 and 17 their will be no immunity and teams will face off for two weeks with the highest combined score the winner and 2nd highest gets second.
Tie breakers for any given week are TOTAL TD's scored by your team (whole roster), then total TD's scored by your lineup (your actually lineup) then rushing TD's, recieving TDs and finally passing TD's. It will probably never even get to a tiebreaker but you never know.
And no transactions after the draft, you get what you draft to last you all 17 weeks! You can trade during the draft but the max # of players you can have is 10. All trades must be for even number players or picks ie 1 for 1, 2 for 2, 3 for 3 etc.
Scoring Rules for QB Event Range (Low-High) Points Passing Yards 25-999 1 point for every 25 Passing Yards 300-999 3 Rushing Yards 10-999 1 point for every 10 Rushing Yards 100-999 3
Rules for QB, RB, WR, TE, PK Event Range (Low-High) Points Number of Passing TDs 1-99 6 points each Pass Interceptions Thrown 1-99 -2 points each Passing 2 Pointers 1-99 2 points each Number of Rushing TDs 1-99 6 points each Rushing 2 Pointers 1-99 2 points each Number of Receiving TDs 1-99 6 points each Receiving 2 Pointers 1-99 2 points each Number of Field Goals Made 1-99 3 points each Extra Points 1-99 1 point each Fumbles Lost (to Opponent) 1-99 -2 points each
Rules for RB, WR Event Range (Low-High) Points Rushing Yards 10-999 1 point for every 10 Rushing Yards 100-999 3 Receiving Yards 10-999 1 point for every 10 Receiving Yards 100-999 3 Receptions 1-99 0.5 points each
Rules for TE Event Range (Low-High) Points Rushing Yards 10-999 1 point for every 10 Rushing Yards 100-999 3 Receiving Yards 10-999 1 point for every 10 Receiving Yards 75-999 3 Receptions 1-99 1.0 point each
TE's are treated as Wr's in this league just so you know.
Draft The draft is serpentine with a twist in 2005. As usual we will roll them bones. All 18 owners will roll and I will verify all rolls, my roll will be verified by Shak/Clyde. This season we will actually run two leagues simultaneously which also means two drafts simultaneously. This is the idea, we sort out from the bone rolls who picks 1st through 18 (100 is the best, 1 is the lowest) and more bone rolling instructions will come. Owner #1 will pick what draft position he wants in draft #1. Owner #2 will pick his slot and so forth and down to owner #18. In mirror league the owner with #18 will select what draft pick he wants first in draft #2, owner #17 will pick next and so forth down to owner #1. Does that make sense? I'll clarify in another post if it appears to be too complicated, which it is not.
2005 payouts are as follows Survivor in each league gets $210 Runner up in each league gets $75 Highest total score for all 17 weeks gets $50 in each league. Owner who survives the most weeks combined between two leagues gets $50.
That adds up to $720 which is the entry fee in full, no site to payout, you get IT ALL BACK!.
Any questions, what did I miss

Jeff, Once everyone selects a position, wheeling and dealing of draft positions can commence. The Draft will be most likely be held sometime later in the month, I would say getting 18 guys together for a one day draft would be difficult. We will probably do it over a 2 week period using MYfantasy League.com like we did last year. I'm not running the show, just helping out....I am in charge of Joe.... Whats a good date for the draft?

Ed, I am pretty damn submissive... serious Jeff WTF happened this week to us...we win 6 out of 7, 5 games back from the wild card..ahead of the great braves who espn still loves and they deal our players for nothing..I understand the high salary..but there is no cap in baseball...you put a good team together fans will come for a winner....not for a rebuilding year with Howard and Utley rotting away with this mess. OK I got it, we trade Utley away for sandberg. Im sure he has some hits left in his tank, we trade Burrell away to get a construction crew to put the fence back 15 more feet further so we can get some pitchers to come here....and Howard...maybe we can trade him to a Japan team and pick up Pete Incaviglia (he is still playing there right)

Last year we started the drafts on Aug 21st and finished both in a week. That seemed to work out pretty well. I only recall one or two time outs. Most people pre-selected which really helped. I anticipate a similar time line this year.

Your right, I'm wrong. My own damn league and I don't know whats going on. Cobb and HHH are up. Also we need to name the leagues to avoid confusion. Need to be named after two fomer players, preferably one offensive and one defensive player. I'll take nominations now?

Are we going to discuss the payouts? Are we using a paysite this year and are we going to raise the prize for the overall Survivor Champ?
I propose $160 for each league champ and $150 for the overall champ. That makes three big prizes with one owner eligible to win two or even all three.

Well, according to Ednecks the Overall champ is not really a big deal anyway...so maybe we should lower the prize money for that title......and we should change the name as well.....Overall champ sounds to distinguished for not really achieving anything. Any suggestions ednecks?

That's because I don't think a guy that finished 3rd in one and 7th in the other means jack. Just my opinion, We need some kind of playoff for the final three teams in each division.
Joe hasn't won anything....It was charity money for the guy that played well in each division and couldn't survive. again my opinion. I'll play whatever, but that's my views on the subject!!

Ed, I'm going to have to disagree. I had two reasons for suggesting going to the two league concept. One was to double our fun and give ourselves two chances of winning for the same price. The second was to establish an overall champ. Anyone can get lucky and have an 8th round pick like Mushin Muhammad lead him to a championship (Skiba two years ago). But to do well with two teams drafting from two different spots is at least as difficult, and probably more so, than getting on a hot streak and winning a league. Of all the prizes, I believe this one requires the most skill. My hat's off to Joe for a job well done. I'm sorry it was only worth $10 (minus your entry fee back).
The trick of course is to win a league and the overall championship, which STB came very close to doing.
I also think the entry fee should be $50. That's certainly not too much considering how much everyone enjoys the game. A $100 of the extra money can go for a pay site or the scorekeeper(s).

In that case have one Overall winner who wins the lot based on your finshing places in both leagues and call it "It's called Survivor, but I really wasn't the lone Survivor, but I finished pretty high in both Survivor Leagues" :-) It doesn't really matter just giving Joe a hard time..he likes the titles.

Damn you Tribe...I mean, I will take team 2! Would have chosen team 1 if my internet was working earlier:( heheheh, I always have to start trouble. Speaking of trouble, what does an owner like myself have to do wrong to get kicked out the league? Ednecks, you remember last years draft/trade you owe me, so if I am on the verge of getting kicked off you have to get my back. I have to apologize, that other address is Supamario private address, I have no Idea why I wrote that there? Why do you have to be so diry ednecks?

Being the team player that I am, I dont want the league to be waiting for me to make my pick when the time arrives, therefore I will say now what I want my pick to be in the event that I am working or sleeping when Reaper remembers that he is in this League. So I choose 6, unless he picks 6, if he picks 6 than I will take 8...just giving you a hard time Reaper, its boring picking on Ednecks all the time.

I once saw a woman who, among many other talents, could paint with no hands and I'm not talking about a Daniel Day Lewis/My Left Foot kind of thing either, once again proving that women can do more with less. The real show stopper though was when she projectiled bananas into various targets across the room and then poured in 7Up and poured out Coke. I pretty much took her word for it but I actually think it might have been Pepsi......
Midget Mauler was there, he knows what Im talking about.

I don't think there's a bigger drop off than from 3 to 4. I think it's universally accepted that there's a big 3 and then a big chasm. In fact, I would rather have 3 than 1, because it's just too hard to make a call between the big 3. I'll gladly take any one of them.
Just curious Scott, where's the dropoff between 5 and 6? Would you be giving away too much by saying who's your #4 and #5?

I almost picked #3 instead of two because I agree with you Shak, but then realized that one more spot didn't really make a difference. I prefer two of them more than the third and will tell you why after I pick 2nd if you're curious.
Because we get PPR, I don't have the 4th guy as far off as in most other leagues, but there is a definite line.

LJ, SA, LT, CP and Edge. Next 8 players are interchangable and could go in any order so I'll take the worst of those 8 players and be happy. My 2 cents.

I think 1-3 is a given with most everyone, I'd go Johnson, Alexander, LT. Correct me if I'm wrong but Tiki was the #3 scorer from last year?
I have #4 and will gladly pick Tiki, Portis over quite a few backs that was the only reason to stay in the top five. I will say there is not as much a drop off the rest of the way. EJ in Arizona is a intersting pick. I think LT is a great back, but without a TD he's very average most weeks.
I only took #14 in the other draft instead of 17 because it's possible a Rb I want may drop to me like Portis did last year @#15.

Scott, I think you are missing the boat here. A big drop off between Edge and Tiki?? You are aware that Edge is playing in AZ, aren't you? I agree with Ed -- I like Tiki better than Edge, so I have a hard time believing there's a dropoff between 5 and 6 when there's a solid debate over the #5 and 6 picks.

So shak your Big Chasm may not start till maybe #6 or 7, After that its pretty much interchangable IMO. No Magahee lovers this year? I warned you not to take him. I did like DD in the top 7 and that didn't pan out, so a few picks in the top ten will be busts...I hope it's LT!

I think it's pretty safe Manning won't go #1 like you did last year. IMO he's a great pick anywhere from 10 on up. In this draft it's a long time between picks and you can easily get on the wrong end of a run and get shafted.
Joe back out?

Shak, your probably right on the top three, but there will be one or two guys get close to them this year. Tiki scores his points because If he doen't get many rushing yards you can pretty much bet he has 60+ yards recieving. The only reason the top three are heads above the rest because they will be the only ones to get close to 20+ Td's. That's why Trashman getting ahead of me @#3 hurt quite a bit!!!

Tiki every year is under the radar, undervalued and under appreciated. For some reason I never have him, never target him and never draft him. At this point I prefer Edge (yes in Arizona) over Tiki, maybe Edge is the sexier pick to me? Dunno?
I am hoping Manning goes early, and it's not a disaster if you get him because he is so consistent (but he looks better on your team than mine). But not getting a RB early can be the death of your team unless you get lucky and get a Carnell Williams type back in round 2.

Shak and I talked about this...I think LJ is going to be the let down in the big three. He hasn't been a full time back and he doesn't have a decent backup. He'll start strong and peter out week 12-13 (if he doesn't get injured sooner), just when you need him most. He will get all the goal line touches tho.

I understand the 10 second penalty taken off the clock when a team has no timeouts left in the 4th and a player gets injured..(in the event that a player is faking an injury to stop the clock)....but if the player is taken off on a damn stretcher maybe they should rethink that rule..just a thought

Ed, I don't want you to think I missed your little jab at me for drafting Manning #1 last year. No one expected the Colts to run so many 2 TE formations. I think this year Manning, without Edge, posts numbers very similar to 2004, which should put him in the running for #1. If he does go as late as #10, it could turn out to be a great bargain. Who's the #2 QB? Palmer? McNabb? Culpepper? Lots of question marks there.

You know the thing I love most about Manning is every year he is the consensus #1 Qb taken but not once in his career has he finished the year as the #1 Fantasy QB. Not even in 04 when he had that monster year! Culpepper was just ahead of him. Just a little food for thought!

I've read that about Manning also, and it may happen this year as well, but who knows who it could be. The same with the 3 big RBs -- they may not finish as the top 3 RBs, but I dare anyone to tell me with any certainty who will crack the top 3.
I'll share this little tidbit. My local newspaper in AZ lists Edge as the #7 fantasy RB behind the big 3, Portis, Tiki, and Rudi. I think Rudi's flying under the radar a little. I really don't see a big dropoff after that either when you have backs like Ron Brown, Caddy, McGahee, and S Jackson.

Scotty, your right about the propaganda and Shak is the King. Shak it wasn't a dig I thought Manning would work out for you, but things change from year to year. The only constant is T.O. will piss someone off before long.
We all have our favorites, Like scotty doesn't like Tiki, I don't like guys who hardly ever get any receptions aka Rudi. I preached this last year, Consistency is the key in a survivor format, getting 210 yards one week and 35 the next two doesn't work in this league, unless your loaded from top to bottom.
I normally pick RB's off good Offenses, can't stand to watch a team play catchup and guys like Mcgahee and any AZ Rb get 2 touches in the second half because they are 25 points behind.
I would just like to say Hi to my good Buddy, Buddy and wish him a happy holiday and how far is grandmas Hip replacement money you stole working out for Ya so far? :-)

Put it this way, My boy Cobb is pretty good at this stuff and he hasn't lastest very long the last few years. Even the Edneck could be first off the rock..........nah, only in Buddy and Joes dreams will that happen.

Keep my name out of your mouth ednecks....it is bad for my credibility. Steve, don’t let necks fool you with his “wing it” BS. He subscribes to every fantasy football magazine and site available just to get the “inside info” and is up until 3 am every morning going through different scenarios for this draft. Mario screwed all his proposals up last year by picking Brady in round one. If you want to make a quick buck, make up a fake email address, develop a little website and say you are a fantasy expert and send an email to Ednecks saying for just 299.99 a week you will get expert draft analysis updated every hour on the hour….trust me, Ednecks will believe you. If you want to be slick you can throw in a free Byron Evans bobble head doll or expert live advice from John Clayton. I did it to him like 6 times just last year and paid off my car thanks to ednecks.

Questions about the draft date can be answered in posts 19 and 22 in this forum. August 21.
Shak buy me dinner, I don't think so. When I beat him he always has an excuse, he likes to work them in on the first tee, just in case. No excuses here, although this is a draft and forget it league. At least in my other "casual play" league I get to build on a team created by a crappy auto-draft. Also, we have 10 guys that stay active in the league throughout the whole season, no dead teams after week 10/11.

The season opens on Thurs, Sept 7th, so I think a 21 Aug draft date works well. That will be the Monday after every team has played at least 2 preseason games. By then I will know whether or not I need to draft two or all three Denver RBs. :-)
That will also give Stevey a little more time to devote to tweaking his wish list for his auto robo draft.
I say the entry fee should be $50 -- a small price to pay for the entertainment value. I also believe the entry fee should be waived for the scorekeeper(s) if we are not using a paysite, which I don't think we need to.

Shak, you check your email? A vote is not needed, I guess I can just tell him myself if we have a replacement

Joe, I agree, Parker is out. We want to fill our leagues with owners that will be more active -- not just casual fans. I have two guys in mind for replacements and will get one of them in. In the mean time, we'll just finish up the draft positions.
League #1 Reggie White 1.HHH 2.Tribe 3.TrashHaulers 4.Edneck 5.Jeff D 6.Supa Mario 7.HarmonJ 8.Steve 9. Joe 10.Terry Tate 11.Midget M. 12.Grim Reaper 13.RBP 14.STB 15.TBD 16.SHAK 17.TB 18.GCOBB
Let the trading begin.

I agree the scorer should get payed and $50 bucks is fine. Please do get interested players, I get tired of waiting on guys who really could care less about playing. As much as Joe, Buddy and Shak pick on me , I love the fact they love fantasy Football, makes for a more enjoyable league.
21 Aug is great for me.

You make me tingle whn you talk like that Ednecks! Aug 21 is fine if that is what everyone wants, but would rather wait another week? One more week to get a couple injuries out of the way, depth charts closer to complete, Freddie MItchell picked up and I should get parole by than too.

21 Aug is good for me too. I may be moving into another house...but FFL as priority over everything else in life.

$50 sounds good to me. Can we use the same site as last year? I can access that site from work (not blocked), I think.

If that's the case (that FFL has priority over everything else in life), then why aren't you here more often, picking on Ed like the rest of us? Get with the program, Grim!

Tim, I'm trying to get an email out, but the site is down right now. I'm trying to fill one last spot before we go any further.

Tiki said on PTI not to take him early in the FFB draft and let him drop to 8 or 9 in the survivor league...how did he know about us?

I heard that too. He said this "could" be his last season and that he will not score any touchdowns because he isn't on the goal line package. He went on to say that he would get you "plenty of yards" and that he would take Larry Johnson first.

He'll be a broadcaster IMO. Need a replacement owner for Parker...first come first serve. Picks 4 and 15.
