Let's organize one of these just to kill some time and see where everyone is in their preparations. Also be interesting to try to identify some trends. I suggest a 12 man draft because that is what alot of leagues play with, but if everyone wants to do a 10 man, that's fine, too. Just don't get too excited when your team looks awesome in a 10 man. 10 rounds ought to be enough for now. No sense in going much further than that. How about this breakdown:

Leave out defenses for now. Ok, so who's in? First 9 names I see that express a concrete interest. If you say "Well, I might..." you aren't in. This is a MOCK draft--completely non-binding and just for kicks so just relax and raise your hand if you want in. |

It was noon to midnight but it's actually gonna be more like 10:30 AM to 1 or 2 AM(Going to the Vans Warped Tour Concert and it's an all day excursion). I will give a list to JKaye in order to get the first round in tomorrow.
Can we not start tonight? I don't see why not it's just a mock draft. And where are we supposed to give our explanations for our picks, in this thread, the pick thread, or another thread?

I dont see why we couldn't start now. And we should probably give a 24 hour timelimit from the previous pick to keep things moving. Something like if they dont pick in 24 hours, then the group decides who the next probable pick should be. Granted 24 hours is alot, but hell. Its only July and we are already talking football. Dontcha love it. And if the only reason we are not starting is because of the vacant 4th pick, then bump that position to the bottom of the 1st round and give it to whoever wants in.

Sorry I disappeared all night... Don't have a computer where I was. Anyway, I want to settle a few things.
1) I put the draft rules in the other thread. 8 hour limits seem good to me. If we give people a whole day, the thing will never get finished. If you miss your turn, we'll draft for you. Not like there is money involved in this...
2) I'd like to give the spot to you, kev, since you came first. But I am inclined to go with adam777 since he will be around all day to make his picks. I'm sorry, man.
3)I'll let JKaye pick for beastiemiked, but everyone else should make their own picks. I don't want any "He told me he wants this guy.." etc.

Big Russ, you are up. I just picked for Bodacious Tahtah's at 7:30 AM. I wasn't online last night but he was supposed to pick by 2 AM and he didn't. As far as getting this thing moving, what do you guys say we cut the 8-hour-per-pick limit to 3-4 hours? I think 4 hours is more than enough, but I have a feeling alot of these cats aren't checking back in here after they signed up for the draft to begin with. I do want to finish this thing, though, and I'd like to stop making picks for people. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Motley Crue ....The problem with giving 4 hours is I am not always by a computer....there are times that I can't get to a computer for a whole day cause I am out of the office. Widdle Avi, whats the rush? 2 days for round 1 means 20 days for 10 rounds. Mock drafts should be run like a regular draft. You guys should have picked a time when you were all going to be online and run it like a live-draft in any fantasy league. The point of a mock draft is to see where and when players will be picked but to have to wait 20 days for that information is ridiculous.

At this point, it's too early to have an accurate draft anyway. Guys are bound to get injured, position battles are bound to be won, and most things will be settled sometime in August. That means that this draft is about as far as you can get from reality.
This draft should have been done by now, in my opinion. It is just a poll, basically, to gain some data for comparison later on. Nothing serious, nothing competitive. Just practice for the real thing.
Half the guys in this thing asked in and then haven't come back, which disappoints me. Maybe if we speed up the pace, guys will check in more often. I'd like to give one hour between picks. We could finish it this weekend.

What I was trying to establish in the initial post was that you should pick players to fill out the roster listed there (2 QB's, 3 RB's, 3 WR's, TE, K) and then we would judge each manager's roster according to how it looked. Don't worry about who is starting each week--assume all your guys are starters.

With Culpepper and Ricky Williams on his team, natedog rounds out fantastically with Lamar Smith.
Smith is a the number 1 RB on a team that runs the ball well and often. If he can remain consistent and motivated (which I believe he can), Lamar Smith will be a Top 12 RB this year.

Yeah, I mean, 10 players=10 starters. But let me also say my only intention here was to have a MOCK draft(meaning this isn't a real competition), and I am only interested in 3 things.
1) Getting some drafting practice in, including developing strategy for drafting.
2) Observing drafting trends that appear in this draft, and observing others' styles.
3) Examining each manager's roster after the 100th pick, and deciding which 2 or 3 look the best.

There has been a few problems recently !! Duplicate picks, Wrong order......I know myself I almost chose someone when I just noticed he was chosen already !! Anyway if anyone has been keeping track can they recap all the picks by round as well as maybe a recap of each persons draft. Thanks
