I created a football league called Rotogurupies (ID # 361361) on yahoo this year since ESPN's service was terrible last year. Yahoo I propose a slow draft on the message board with an 8 hour time limit during the week and a 12 hour limit on the weekend. I propose the draft start sometime between Monday August 14th and Monday August 21st. The season starts on Thursday September 7th. The draft will snake and the draft order will be determined by the first one to send me a list of numbers 1-10.
The roster positions are as follows: 2 QB 3 WR 2 RB 1 RB/WR 1 TE 1 K 2 DEF 8 BENCH
Stat Categories:
Passing Yards (20 yards per point) Passing Touchdowns (6) Interceptions (-2) Rushing Yards (10 yards per point) Rushing Touchdowns (6) Reception Yards (10 yards per point) Reception Touchdowns (6) Return Touchdowns (6) 2-Point Conversions (2) Fumbles Lost (-2) Offensive Fumble Return TD (6) Field Goals 0-19 Yards (3) Field Goals 20-29 Yards (3) Field Goals 30-39 Yards (3) Field Goals 40-49 Yards (4) Field Goals 50+ Yards (5) Field Goals Missed 0-19 Yards (-3) Field Goals Missed 20-29 Yards (-2) Field Goals Missed 30-39 Yards (-1) Point After Attempt Made (1) Point After Attempt Missed (-3) Sack (3) Interception (3) Fumble Recovery (3) Touchdown (6) Safety (6) Block Kick (3) Return Yards (10 yards per point) Kickoff and Punt Return Touchdowns (6) Points Allowed 0 points (20) Points Allowed 1-6 points (15) Points Allowed 7-13 points (10) Points Allowed 14-20 points (5) Points Allowed 21-27 points (0) Points Allowed 28-34 points (-1) Points Allowed 35+ points (-5)
Is there anything you want me to change off of this? and what is a good day to start the draft? |

I'd strongly support using the kafenatid draft software, and am willing to spring for the cost. (I know, Trip, you don't have access at work, but we've worked around that limitation pretty effectively in the past. I can set up the same viewing program as for the RIFC.)
I think the software does a superb job of keeping the draft moving along, and effectively facilitates queue management.

Weren't we able to create a link to the kafenatid site on the message board that enabled Trip to view the draft?
I am OK with using the kafenatid website.

I return from a cruise on the 19th. Don't know what kind of access I'll have before that so I'd prefer a start date of the 21st.

We will start the draft on Monday the 21st. Somebody has to e-mail me a list of numbers 1-10 so I could give out the draft order. I e-mailed Wes a random list on Saturday night, which will correspond to those numbers.

I set up a league on kafenatid.net
If you don't receive an invitation e-mail please e-mail me and I will send you the league ID and password.
The draft will begin on Monday August 21st at 8 AM, only if all 10 of us register before this deadline. Please register by Sunday night! I set the time limit to 6 hours with the draft pausing on weekends and after 8 PM on weekdays.
I have not set the draft order because no one has e-mailed me a random list of numbers 1-10. Someone please e-mail me.
Wes, I need you to e-mail me the list of names I sent to you a week ago.
Wes and Russ still need to register on yahoo. No rush, but do it sometime before the end of the draft.

It looks like the draft won't start as scheduled. We still need Wes, Dale and Jerry to sign up. Since I am stuck with jury duty tomorrow I will have Wes to start the draft when everyone signs up.

Just looking over the scoring rules.
Do the return yard points (1 pt per 10 yards) apply to individual players, or def/ST, or both? Normally, return yardage (if included at all) applies only to individual players. But I notice that it is listed in the middle of the def/ST point categories, so it's unclear to me what to expect.

Following up, when I click on the player pages at Yahoo, I see that return yardage is a listed category for def/ST, but not listed for players, which makes me suspect it is for the def/ST only. Further, looking at Steve Smith, it does not appear that return yardage is included in his point calculation for 2005.
So, if this is only for def/ST, do we really want it? Seems kind of counter intuitive. For example, everytime a defense surrenders a TD, they immediately get a chance to recapture some of the points with a kickoff return. A 20 yard KR would generate 2 pts!
I'd recommend we amend the rules to eliminate that item.

Sorry, my crazy week (sister just got married) is over and I finally signed up. Jerry and Will still need to sign up and then we can get this going.

I started the draft and sent an e-mail to Jerry, Russ, and Will.
I eliminated return yards from the defensive category.
Should I turn on negative points for fumbles? ...Since QB's get negative points for INT's.

Yes, negative points should be on for fumbles as well.

I will be running the clock this weekend because next weekend is labor day weekend, which will slow everything down even more. We might not finish before the start of the season with the current pace.
Please set your queues and designate people to draft for you. Click on "Make your Queue Available" under Queue Management so we can draft for you when you are not around. I will be around this weekend, so you can designate me as a picker. Anyone else going to be around?
