Congratulations gentlemen! We're done with the auction and 180 players have been nominated, bid upon and assigned/won to their teams.

Over the next couple of days, I'll be entering the team roster data into our YAHOO site. Hopefully, I'll have that completed by Sat night.

In the meantime, ...LET THE TRASH TALK BEGIN!! :)

Woohoo! Nicely done everyone - a lot of good teams out there. I'll follow up with my strategy and thoughts as time allows.

I had very limited access when the draft started, so my bidding was sporadic and I due to work and home issues hadn't created a cheat sheet or valued players. I went with the 2 stud RB approach last year and it got me to the play-offs so I thought I would try it again.

RB - I originally won either LJ or LT, I forget which, and I made a comment that I would have bid higher on the other. Wiggs offered the player to me at winning price. I took the offer, mostly due to one reason. Both LJ and LT have week 3 byes. Whomever I face in week 3 is going to face a depleted roster that week, but every other week I have the 2 top RBs lining up in my backfield. If both perfom up to expectations I should have a very competitive team. I hope that Addai gets the majority of the work for the Colts to justify the money that I paid, otherwise that could be the buy that sinks my season. On the flip side if Cedrick Houston can winning the starting job for the Jets (I read yesterday that C Martin could retire) I have a possible 3rd RB.

QB - There are basically 2 levels, Manning as #1 and Brady/Hasselbeck as 2A/2B. Palmer is close, but his injury is a major concern. After that the QB position was pretty close. (Although if McNair can stay healthy he is a steal, big if though.)

WR - I can't justify spending big money, stud WR are to hit or miss each week compared to stud RB. THK's approach of having 6 stud WRs should let him ride out some of that inconsistency, but he can't start all of them.

TE - Other than Gates, Heap (thanks to McNair), and Cooley (due to Gibbs using in the backfield occasionally) I didn't see any TE being worth big money. The 2 TEs that I have are ranked 9th and 11th on my cheatsheet. Not bad for $2 total.

K - Is a top kicker worth an extra $1 or $2? Maybe if it works out that way, but in a 12 team league, there are plenty of decent kickers to be found.

D - I overpaid for the Chargers, but at the time I had 2 thoughts. If they play Martyball (with a "rookie" QB they will probably do), they should put up negative numbers. And they have a week 3 bye which fit with my strategy of tanking week 3. Actually they have a good match-up during the bye week of my other D.

With 1 extra starting spot and 1 less bench spot, I would guess that we will see much more FA action this year.

8 Managers have 1 K.
4 Managers have 1 TE, and I show 1 manager with no TEs
1 Manager only has 1 QB

Either more trading will go on, more FA action, or some match-ups will be determined by empty roster spots.

no TE's? What did I miss (since that would constitute an illegal roster.)

Nevermind, on Beezer's roster I had M. Lewis as Michael Lewis (return guy for NO), not Marcedes Lewis.

1st: sarge, and all the others that helped more than I did - thanks for keeping this draft going.

2nd: a quick recap of my draft:

I prepared a cheat-sheet with projected points in our scoring system. I assigned a factor for every position. out comes a $-value that I am willing to pay for this player. add 50% to that value and that is the $-value that I am willing to pay for a player that I expect being better than projected.
because of that I can't say that I got one or two of the players I wanted, because I had no plan whom I want.

QB: Palmer, Roethlisberger
I think that Palmer will play in week1. If not, I still have the option of BigBen, but I don't think about it, because then it might happen. looking at the values of other QBs I may have overpaid for them, but I rather think that some others went too cheap because of the RB-prices.

RB: D Davis, Dillon, Foster, C Brown
welcome my all-injury-backfield. I take the risk on all of them, because they are starters for now and are able to do great if healthy. I only need 3 healthy bodies every week, so that may work. with the R/W-slot even a WR can stay in if I need to, instead of getting a RB on waivers.

WR: Holt, Glenn, K Robinson, Burleson
I put the money I didn't invest for a usually healthy RB in the WR1-slot to get Torry Holt. seeing some other WR-prices it also looks like I overpaid, but I got him early in the draft and it does not hurt having a top5-receiver on my team. Terry Glenn is 1/2 of the best receiver-tandem in the NFL. with TO beside him he may even get more room and improve on his league-leading 18.3 yards/catch.

TE: Troupe
we needed a TE. right? there are only a few options at this position and I think no TE is worth more than $10. I did not draft a 2nd TE, because that way, I can wait until my bye-week (week 7) and decide then who to drop (my 2nd K?) and who to pick up, because you never know which lower-tier-TE will really see a few passes every game.

K: Feely, Kasay
I decided to get 2 kickers insted of 2 TE because there is not that much difference between kickers than between TE. I guess John Kasay will be gone after Feely's bye in week4. this early bye was maybe the main reason of drafting Feely because in this way I can free up a roster-slot for a more valuable position (RB?)

D: JAX, MIA
I got both of them early in the draft and have to say that the factor I used for defense was a bit too high. comparable defenses went for half of the money I invested into these 2. in general I think defenses will score lots of points again. they may even compete with the top-backs for most points during the season.

overall I don't know where my team will stand. if my QB/RBs stay healthy I feel pretty confident. if not I have $32 to spend to improve my team.

3rd: the other teams. I just looked on everybodys roster and it is interesting to see the different strategies. I looked a 2nd time to identify the teams that I see as strongest competitors and every team has at least one weakness (my weakness is called injuries). I predict that I'll play our superbowl against wolfer, because we have the most money left to improve our teams during the regular season. this was the key to my success last year and it will be the key this year too, unless someone gets really lucky.

My thoughts going into the draft were to have an initial plan but be willing to deviate from it as needed. Last year, I had WRs pegged as overpriced but managed to luck out on a $1 McCardell while my RBs that I showed as good value were my big downfall (McCallister and Martin especially due to injuries).

All planning went out the window when Alexander stopped at $68. I had him worth $75 and tops on my sheet, plus I like that he hasn't missed a game in 5 seasons. I had budgeted $47 for my top RB, but couldn't let that pass. I decided to break the bank and gamble on studs, as last year I found that I had more money than I needed for FAs anyway. That led to buying TO at a discount to my expected value, then Harrison and Bulger. None of these 3 sold above 80% of my expected value.

After those 4 buys, I found myself with just $53 for the rest of my team. If I had known how underpriced WRs would look on my sheet by the end of the draft, I would have taken the money I spent on Moss and Smith and spent it on a better RB2, however I had both of them going really cheap as well so I couldn't pass them up. After that, I decided to just pick my spots and see if I could fill my team with $1 guys that I thought could return the way McCardell did last year. I think I got a few that will do that for me (Kennison to name 1).

Obviously, the 4 horsemen will make or break my team this year, and I'm basically writing off week 5 as of right now with both SA and Duckett both on bye that week. I'm swinging for the fences, but at least I still have enough to gamble on 1-2 pickups or to absorb some dollars if I decide to trade one of my WRs for some RB depth (hint, hint).

My current valuations have wiggs, sarge, and THK joining me in the playoffs, whatever that's worth. 4 other teams are close behind and could definitely earn a spot as well, so it should be very competitive. Every team has at least one weakness - mine is definitely depth and the RB2 position. If I can hit on a couple of my dollar guys and keep my main guys on the field, I feel good about my chances.

I guess I should throw this out there. I have Goatlocker, THK, and myself as the top rated teams. After that there is a second tier of 4-5 teams, but the remaining 5 teams are all well within striking distance.

It is also important to note that due to playing H2H, a bad week (my week 3, Beezer's week 5) can throw those results off. Plus I don't think I've ever predicted a play-off teams correctly!

I’m a little in between on my team I’m not sure what to think about them.

This is my first auction league so it was definitely an experience for me, but and enjoyable one it was! :)

QB

I like my combo of Favre and Brooks. I get the solid vet in Favre and Brooks could be GREAT in Oakland.

Farve cost $6 had him at $8
Brooks cost $9 had him at $9

RB

I got the stud with Portis that I wanted. My other 4 Rbs are Thomas Jones, Ron Dayne, Dominic Rhodes and Curtis Martin, All 4 of those guy are question marks, but all slated to start right now so i am happy about that

Portis cost $50 had him at $54
Thomas Jones cost $13 had him at $18
Dayne cost $5 had him at $14
Rhodes cost $7 had him at $12
Martin cost $3 had him at $8

A lot of value buys there IMHO

WR

Have the best WR in football right now in Smith and solid player week in and week out in Ward. Took a flyer on Williamsons potential and Stokley i am really not sure what to think of him, but he Manning is his QB

Smith cost $40 had him at $39
Ward cost $21 had him at $24
Williamson cost $2 had him at $2
Sotkley cost $4 had him at $3

Looks like I overpaid in 2 but not by much

TE

TE was the hardest thing for me to bid on, but I am happy with Shockey as I think he has a chance to be 2nd best TE in the league.

Shockey cost $7 had him at $16

GREAT BUY for me

D

Bears have the best defense in the league nuff said

Bears cost $7 had them at $7

All in the thing I am most happy about is saving $20 for FA pickups. Looks like it will be a fun year!

Ill save my predictions because they mean jack anyways :)

Well, I'm really happy.
Biggest goal wasn't met, but still okay.
I went into the draft wanting to spend $6 on 2 K, 2 Def, 2 TE, I spent $8. Drat.

$10 left for two pickups which is sure better than the $0 I had left last year.

Was looking again to pick up one of the big three, but just didn't happen with being out of town and all.

Really happy with my balance.
Need to worry about injuries, but what else is new with football.

Really amazed that I got Rudi and Lamont for what I did.
Had them valued at almost double what I paid for the two of them.

WR is such a crap shoot, that I'm jus tnot willing to pay too much for them.

Sure hope Frank Gore and D Willimas perform as I expect.

See them as the weakest part of the team other than the slots I wasn't willing to pay more than a buck each.

Best of Luck to all.

Teams I like:

If Frick can get one of his two QBs to step up, he'll be dangerous to play every week.
Like both BH and JH.
Wolfer sure has a lot of money left to potentially make him the wild card in this whole mess.
