1.01 Larry Johnson, RB, KC

LJ's the man. I'm hoping of course that he stays healthy - if so, then he should be able to keep up his performance from when he got the starting role last year.

1.02 Shaun Alexander, RB, SEA

There really was not much separation between Alexander and Tomlinson, nor Johnson for that matter. I felt that Rivers' inexperience at QB would give Tomlinson fewer red zone opportunities and also allow opposing defenses to key on him. Of course uninjured Tomlinson is so good that even keying on him might not stop him from racking up FPs. Thus my decision to pick Alexander over Tomlinson was based on Rivers starting at QB for SD.

1.03 LaDanian Thomlinson, RB, SD

He was the last of the big three, pretty easy choice. Was hoping for him to fall to me.

I choose to pick in the third spot because if I didn't, I would have regretted it. I had the chance to be in position to get a great RB, and jumped at it.

1.04 Tiki Barber, RB, NYG

It wasn't really a tough choice for me to go with Tiki at #4. I wanted a running back and when Portis went down with the shoulder injury in the first preseason game, it narrowed it down to Tiki and E. James. I chose Barber more on the liklihood of his being in a stable run oriented offense in NYC than the pass happy frontier of EJ's Arizona. Plus, you never know what you'll get with the O-line in AZ.

As far as making the decision on the 4th pick, it kind of fell to me. I had the 9th choice and was expecting to choose somewhere in the middle (7-9) and when the opportunity came to pick 4th, I jumped at it. I'd rather select closer to an end (not on the end mind you). This is my 2nd year in a row to pick 4th so we'll see if I've improved any at this spot. lol

1.05 Clinton Portis, RB, WAS

I chose to draft at #5 because 1 through 3 were already gone and I thought one of the 4 RBs that were drafted in front of me could fall to #5 and I'd make out. That wasn't the case, but I also took 5 since I knew I could have my pick of the 2nd tier RBs.

I took Portis at this spot since he was the highest ranked back available on my list. At this point he wasn't injured, so it looked like a good pick. I will have to wait and see how he recovers and decide at the end of the season if going with Portis over Rudi Johnson was the right choice.

1.06 Steven Jackson,RB,Rams Likely to get at least 10 more touches per game this year, including more passes, sans Faulk.

I'm not partial to draft position, so the middle is fine for me.

1.07 Rudi Johnson.

The big boys were taken and we were solidly into tier 1.5 on RB's. Johnson has been solidly consistent if not spectacular, and will quietly put up good numbers week in and week out. James was an option here but I dont like the O-line in Arizona very much.

I picked 7th because I like picking in middle of the round, I get to pick consistently every 14 or 15 and I dont miss out on any runs.

1.08 Peyton Manning
I took a long time to decide between Ronnie Brown and Peyton with this pick. Brown should be a stud this year, but I knew that Manning wouldn't make it back to me and with Edge gone I can see the Colts throwing the ball much more often.

1.10 Carnell Williams, RB, TB

I went with the cadillac because he was one of the few true feature backs still left. He will lose some TDs with Alstott back but Gruden will ride this kid until the wheels fall off. Hopefully they stay on all year. There has also been talk that TB is working to get williams more involved in the passing game which would greatly improve his value and his TD potential.

As for my draft spot, I only had 2 choices left so I took the highest pick. I think it worked out well because I think there was a drop off in value of first rounders after this point.

1.11 Ronnie Brown, RB, MIA

I had the 16th choice so 11th was what fell to me. I have played in 3 previous leagues (2 AA leagues in 2004 and the RIBC last year) and have drafted in the same basic spot every time so I am used to it. I won both AA leagues regular season and eeked into the playoffs in the RIBC last year so I knew that I could compete from here.

I was weak at RB last year and have been converted to having a stable of RB. I thought I would end up with Parker and Westbrook, which would have been fine, but Ronnie Brown fell a bit here or the hype is just that. Great coach, much better QB situation, solid receivers, as a Pats fan Miami is VERY worrisome. Seen him as high as 5th in mock drafts, cheatsheets, projections, etc. Let's hope he lives up to it.

1.12 LaMont Jordan,RB,Oak

I was surprised to see Jordan fall down to me at 12. I had no reservations about taking him here. I think with Art Shell the Raiders will be a "three yards and a cloud of dust" type running team. Jordan doesn't seem have any competition behind him. So I've got that going for me, which is nice.

I wanted to draft towards an end. My choices came down to #4 or #12. I decided to go with #12 for the opportunity to draft a stud WR along with a RB ranked in the top 12.

1.13 Terrell Owens, WR, DAL

No matter how much T.O. and Parcels are fighting, you know they are going to throw a lot to T.O. The jerk that he is, he still an amazing athlete... Hopefully he doesn't kill another teams morale. Gamble I guess for my #1.0.1

Well my original pick was in the 10th slot. I believe at the time I could of had the 6th or 7th pick, but in the past I have never had any luck with it. 14th had already been taking so went with 13th.. I read a couple threads on Footballguys.com that you could do pretty good at the 13th spot.br>

I am sorry, I wanted to get my rationalles out here and the rest of the day will be spent breaking down my computer driving 45 minutes off to the second year of college and then setting up my room. I probably won't be back on today, but I don't really have to worry about a pick unless the draft flies today. Anyway.

0.14 I took the 14th spot because the top 4 were gone, and none of the RBs after 3 wowed me. I watched the Philly preseason game and said Westbrook would still be around, and I was hoping for a Jackson or Johnson or Brown to fall to me. I also knew my time would be limited during the draft and if I had a pick toward the end of rounds I wouldn't cause to much of a delay.
My final reason: I've never picked last before and I kind of wanted to :)

1.14 and 2.01 Brian Westbrook and Willie Parker
It was almost required for me to pick 2 RBs here. I knew at 3.14 there wouldn't be many good ones left and the QBs and WRs here weren't terrific. Westbrook looked awesome in his first preseason game, and I am hoping that the foot problem he is having isn't huge. He has the possiblity to be Marshall Faulk of 2001 with Philly having no WR and McNabb looking around for people to throw and hand the ball off too.
Willie was kind of a best available and highest on my q pick. Other RBs considered were Willis, DD, and Kevin Jones. I didn't like any of these teams QB situation and figured thier running games would be focused on. Willie has been the main guy and preformed well. Now that the Bus is parked, Willie will probably see more touches inside the 20s.

2.02 Willis McGahee, RB, Buf

I really pondered over this pick. There was mix reviews on whether a person should go for another stud WR or grab a RB when they could. At the time, the board was in their RB pick mode, so figured I better get someone quick. I hope he is ready to play this year, he killed me in several leagues last year.

Well, westbrook, McGahee and Parker were my targets but all were picked. As all the remaining RB's had issues, I took the upside of Bush. He will bet his touches in many ways apparently. Just hope he breaks one a game. With Deuce I might actually start two RB's from the same team?!

2.05, Kevin Jones, RB, Det
I had a choice of about 4 RBs left who are expected to be major starters:
Kevin Jones
Julius Jones
Domanick Davis
Chester Taylor

Kevin was the only one that seems to have a guarunteed spot other than Davis who has had some problems with swelling in his knee during camp. I try to avoid any players that are swelling.
I also liked the potential that exists with a Martz offense. It was definitely a gamble here but I dont think there were any truly safe options at this point.

With taking a QB in Round 1, I have to take a RB here. Jones was by far the highest rated player here. Hopefully TO will help stretch the field and open up running lanes. The reason Jones was still available here is his injury history. If he can stay healthy, he is a Round 1 pick. We'll see.

2.08 Domanick Davis RB HOU

I wanted a running back here and Davis was the most consistent of the bunch left. I was hoping Reggie Bush would drop to this spot but it didn't happen. Now I'm wondering about this pick because Davis has been hurting in preseason, and I discovered that both he and Rudi have the same bye week. Ugh!

Taylor is this year's LaMont Jordan. Brought in to be the feature back for the first time in his career, it remains to be seen if he can withstand the rigors of 20+ carries a game.
I expect to see at least 1,200 yards and double digit TDs, health permitting of course.

2.10 Larry Fitzgerald, WR, AZ

I went with Fitzgerald after Smith was off the board because I think he has the best situation out of the top WR. I looked at Chad Johnson at this spot too, but with Palmer not being a sure thing I decided to go with Fitzgerald since Warner can still play well enough, especially with the addition of James. I also like that teams can't solely bear down on Fitzgerald since Boldin is there.

How this will play out I'm not sure, since I easily could have went with Johnson, Harrison, or Holt. I just went with my gut feeling.

2.11 Jamal Lewis, RB, BAL

Anybody that knows me is aware that I looovvvee my running backs. In a league that requires 2 RBs on a week 2 week basis, you need to have at least a couple that can carry the offense if healthy. The problem is finding the healthy backs. Not sure if Jamal is the guy, but if the improved QB situation can make for fewer 8/box situations, he'll be a steal at this slot will perform like he did in 2003 and less like the last couple of years.

2.13 Torrie Holt, WR

I wanted to draft a RB with this pick, but I felt that there were none available that would consistently put up good numbers. Holt was my highest ranked WR remaining and therefore was chosen.

3.02 Anquan Boldin, WR, AZ

As with my last pick I did not see a RB that would consistently put up good numbers. I had Boldin ranked at the bottom of 1st tier WRs and went with him.

3.01 Ruben Droughns, RB, Cle

All along I'd planned on picking up a receiver and a running back with my 2nd/3rd picks. I was salivating as it looked like I would have a choice between Hold and Johnson, but they went with the two preceeding picks. But as a Colts fan, I'm happy to get Harrison. Perhaps with Edge gone, they'll rely on him more in the red zone.

As far as Droughns, 2nd running backs were already pretty thin at this point. I also thought about Dillon and Dunn, but felt Droughns was more of a sure thing depth and injury wise. Of course, he hardly got in the endzone last year, but he should be good for solid yardage.

This could be a high risk, high reward pick. I didn't like the idea of taking two straight picks from the same team, but I was hearing good things about his recovery, so I decided to grab him. I heard talk that if healthy, would be rated above Peyton.

With Holt, Harrison, & Bolden slipping off the board right in front of me, I was looking for the WR with the biggest bang for the buck and decided on Chambers. With Culpepper throwing the deep ball now, I think he's only going to improve on his YPC & TDs. He's been able to produce with "who the heck was that?" throwing to him, lets see how he can do with a real QB.

The problem with Roy Williams hasn't been a lack of ability, it's been the lack of ability of those throwing to him. Now Jon Kitna may not be the best QB in the league, but Joey Harrington may well have been the worst the last two years.
With WRs flying off the board, Williams was the highest rated on my sheet.

3.08 Joseph Addai, RB, IND I could copy over my previous rationale, but I'll just right a new to add to the old one.

I took Manning with my Rd 1 pick, so I needed to go RB, RB in Rd 2 and 3. Looking back I wish I would have taken Warrick Dunn or Frank Gore here (especially after the recent trades have shaken out.) I lived in Indianapolis until 2 months ago and all of the news that was coming out at the time was that Addai was picking up the system quickly, was developing a confidence with Manning, was a better blocker and receiver than Rhoades and would probably by #1 on the depth chart by the time camp broke. After seeing brief parts of the Colts first 2 pre-season games I am seeing more of a RBBC situation here. Gah! If Addai gains the #1 job and produces I have a fighting change, if he doesn't I'm going to need some waiver wire magic or some luck to compete for a play-off spot.

3.10, Matt Hasslebeck, QB, SEA
I usually take a QB in the 3rd round and its worked out for me in the past. My first 2 picks were RBs and they weren't top tier guys so I felt it was worth it to get a strong QB in order to differentiate myself from some other teams. I might have taken Santana Moss at this spot if he was still available but he went 3 picks earlier so I went with Hasslebeck.

My third RB in three rounds. Guess I missed the memo about increased IDP. Nonetheless, with Bush as #2, I felt I needed another every down back. Dillon has a lot to prove after last year and he is getting pushed by Maroney. I hope that is motivation enough. Now if I had just taken Maroney in the 10th when I almost did.

I might have taken Brady or Hasselbeck here had they fallen.

3.12 Warrick Dunn,RB,ATL

I am usually a RB-RB guy and not having a solid #2 gives my fantasy football mind crazy head. My decision in round two to draft a WR guaranteed that I would draft a RB in round three. I had a tough time deciding between Dunn and Foster, who went next, but decided I wanted a RB with less of an injury history. With the news of ATL, DEN, & WAS trade Dunn’s TD totals should be increased and he could potentially be a top 10 back.

3.14 and 4.1 Eli Manning and Darrell Jackson
I liked how my RB situation stacked up after the first 2 rounds so I decided I would go after a top tier QB and a #1 WR here. Eli has huge upside, I've tried to get him in every league I am in, I just feel he will blossom into the star he's been touted to be since his sophomore season. Last year he matured and started to throw a real good ball game. I definately feel good this year about my QB. (Last year I said that too with Leftwich and Daunte...)
Jackson was kind of a best available pick. Before the draft I was targeting Chris Chambers here but he went at 3.4. I saw Plax here but didn't think he'd be good to double up on G-men. I try to keep a balance on my teams and Eli has several targets including Plax. In Seatle it seems to be that someone will have to catch the ball and Jackson can do that. Hopefully he stays healthy.

I already had 2RBs and a QB so I had to get a WR before they were gone. Burress is certainly a stretch as a first WR for a fantasy team but I think I made up for it by adding Kennison later as my #3 WR. I don't have a ton of faith in Burress based on his poor finish to last season, but I think the Giants offense will be potent this year and Burress will at least have the opportunity to be a major contributor. I hope he takes advantage.

I like to get a top tier QB in round 4 but I was surprised to see so many go in round 3. McNabb was good even through his injury until he just couldnt go anymore, and I'm confident he will be back to full speed this season. He is arguably the best QB in the NFC with an offense that likes to pass the football. He also likes to spread the ball around so the loss of TO should not be as big as some people would like to think.

I had the felling the run on WR was going to continue and Andre was the best I had at the position left IMO. I thought that TO would be on his best behavior in his 1st season with a new team and that Parcells can handle any difficult player. With TO added to Dallas' receiving corp, Bledsoe, if he can stay healthy, should have a fine season. I did not factor in TO's hammy.

5.03 Todd Heap, TE, Bal

Steve McNair loves to throw to his TE, and Todd Heap is a good one, so I figure he is going to get the ball a lot.

5.04 Daunte Culpepper, QB, Mia

Round 5 was time to get my QB. I feel Daunte is going to ge recovered from his knee surgery to be a force in Miami. Time will tell though. He won't have the mobility he had prior to the injury, but his arm strenght is something they've lacked in Miami's passing game since a certain Dan the man's retired. Combine that with the running game and look out NE!

5.06 Nate Burleson, WR, Sea

I might have been a bit early with this pick, but I predict a big year for Burleson. Jackson's health concerns could even elevate him to #1 receiver in Seattle, a pass friendly team with an accurate QB

5.07 Tony Gonzalez, TE, KC

I think I have had Tony G on every fantasy team Ive had in the last 5 years. He has been surpassed last year by Gates but still managed to put up 900+ yards and is the prime target for Green in the KC passing attack. I expect good numbers here.

5.10 Joe Horn, WR, NO

Horn was a slight gamble here but he was high on my list. I think he will rebound from the injury hampered season he had last year. Before that he was always a solid option. Hopefully he comes back and he and drew brees build some nice chemistry.

5.11 Derrick Mason, WR, Bal

I really wanted Joe Horn here as I think he will have a much better season with a better QB. Mason dropped a bit and I'm not sure why. With McNair, not the incompetents that BAL has thrown out there the last few years, he should get to 1000 yds and 8+ TD's. Not bad for the 5th round. With no WR yet, this was a must pick.

5.14 Joey Galloway, WR, TB & 6.01 Joey Galloway, WR, TB

I wanted to get all #1 WR for the teams that they played on, but Glenn seemed too tempting. I believe Galloway will have another 1000 yd. 8TD season and I am hoping Glenn will have similar numbers. If Parcells ODs on TO antics then Glenn will be thier #1. Also this alligns my WR bye weeks so that i have 1 on Week 3, 4, and 5. That way I only need one good backup, unless someone goes down before then. If they all stay healthy, I feel my WR position is pretty solid. We'll see...
