Select Larry Johnson for JHHH in the RW league. He pre-selected yesterday? He may be in-out since he's on Leave in Houston, so he asked me to help him out and the league by making his picks after 6 hours of waiting. I'm sure he will make his picks 99 percent of the time.

Probably a stupid question, but why can't I see a timer or the live-part of the draft. I can go to draft report and see who has been selected, but when I selct go to round 1 it doesn't do anything? Maybe I'm missing something? It looks different from last year.

In another league I can select the options and the drop dowm menu say's Draft and then Live Draft room, I don't get the Live draft room with our Survivor league's? Did you select the Live draft option on setup or is that a option for paying league's only?

Patience. I expect today to be slow and tomorrow to be much better. One round a day is 10 days, that would be ahead of last years schedule. Patience.

In the RW division, I believe the Gumsellers have called it a night, so no more picks for 6 hours or so. That works for me because I'm on deck and I now get to watch my boy Reggie tonight on MNF before I pick him with the 1.16.

I left a three man queue for my next pick and Gcobb took the first two in it. Wow.
I was seriously considering WR-WR before picking Bush. The top WR available are going to outscore all of the remaining backs, but then I looked at the projected drop-off and didn't want to have to rely on someone else getting hurt so I could get RB points.

Adding a post to bump this thread above the dead horsey thread.

How about the Saints offense? I heard of playing it vanilla before, but that was ridiculous. If that was vanilla, Ben and Jerry's better come up with some more flavors... quick! I guess I'll have to bump down all NO players, even the great glorified punt returner.

Dallas, on the other hand, looked super. TO could be spectacular (for as long as he plays). He could lead you to the championship or he could make you crash quicker than a mad cow horsey. Buyer (RBP) beware.

Speaking of drunk, madcow infested horseys, how about RBP's pick of D Davis? My how the mighty have fallen. Has any RB fallen more this year than D Davis? He was supposed to be a top 5 RB last year. Hopes were high for him this year when Houston passed on Reggie. Now he was a "mistake" pick at #32. In the RW division, he's still waiting in the green room thru 34 picks. He has to be a good value here, doesn't he? I mean he is a top 5 talented RB in the prime of his career. Is it just the nagging injury?

I promised myself all off season that I would draft two RB's with my first two picks.....I have made this promise every year but fall to the temptation of a injury plagued Mr. Randy Moss..Well guys, this year I did it in both leagues and I am not very happy with my picks...Westbrook (my first pick) was a reach that I may regret, but I am going with the conspiracy theory here...I am pretty sure I had Portis in my queue he was a gamble too though so..we will see.
Ednecks first off the rocks
Shak second due to ST TD's :)

Joe taking a Philly is always a risk;-)

There are too many questions on a few of these backfields, Bell/Bell Bush/Mccallister, Benson/Thomas, Dillon/Maroney, now DD/Morency Jones/Barber. IMO I'm sure one or two of these guys will work out and be a good pick, I just would rather select a surefire, 1200-1400 yard WR with 80-100 receptions then take the chance your guy is riding the bench come week 6.

Now I know there are high expectations on C. Taylor, but what has he done to deserve a round 2 pick? Getting two Rb's that produce is a bonus, I did well with Jordan and Portis last year, so maybe those gambles are worth the chance.

"There are too many questions on a few of these backfields, Bell/Bell Bush/McCallister, Benson/Thomas, Dillon/Maroney, now DD/Morency Jones/Barber."

But who knows who will play and who wont?? Heck Frank Gore is a safer pick at this time and thats a scary thought.

Bye week issues are surfacing so early..JHHH and Midget man both seem to be vying for the boot in week 3:
JHHH has TO and Gates in Walter Payton, both week 3 byes
JHHH has L. Johnson and Gonzalez in Reggie White, both week 3 byes
Midget Man has Jordan and Jones week in Reggie White, both week 3 byes.
With any luck TO wont play all season, so his bye week wont matter.....it would sure be nice to see LJ gone early though..sorry jhhh

Joe I think everyone is going to have at least 1 week were they have two players o BYe week, so yeah they are staring in the face of danger, but as long as they don't add a third player to that week, they should be fine.

Plus having them early increases there chances of staying on the rock. I think two players on Bye late will make it more difficult.

Tribe---how many picks/players does he lose before he makes his 3rd round pick..could hurt. Anyone in contact with him?

This is what I have learned from the draft so far:

REGGIE LEAGUE

1) Ednecks will only draft players with last names starting with a "B".

2) 50% chance RBP will draft his 4th RB in a row...never mind the other positions.

3) Midget Mualers...first two picks...drafting two RB's with the same bye week (3)?

PAYTON LEAGUE:

1) JHHH...first two picks...likes WR's with the same bye weeks.

2) What the yell was I thinking trading away my 3rd rounder!

Easy money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought my "B" fettish was a secret? Barber, Brady, Boldin and next in line is Barlow or maybe chris Brown...All "B's baby, now my drafting theory is out, I may have to go to who has the best uniforms now.

i think these boys that have passed on QB's need to be taught a lesson and leave them with nothing..looks like Scotty didn't learn his lesson from last year.

Shak or Scotty..JHHH called/ no Computer access for a few hours and to select Santana Moss with his pick in WP.. I have his 2nd pick on the wrap around, just incase.

Lousy weeks by your Qb's will get you sent home. I think TB is right the points are pretty even from 4-20, but who's the most consistent of those 16 guys, if you get 35 one week and 10 the next 3 weeks your hurting. I always select a QB rather early. Afraid I'll be on the wrong end of a run.

Cobb just emailed me and says he will send me his picks or will pick on his own in 3-4 hours. Thats why I posted the updated draft status here so those of us at work could still see it.

I wonder what is up with Travis? Picks in one league and totally drops the ball in the other? I wonder if he pre-selected and those players all were drafted and he ASSUMES he made a pick. I'd still check in though. I check in 25 times a day but I have no life and like in South Korea so thats to be expected.

Off topic but I saw this quote and it caught my attention....

"When Poz was asked about AJ Hawk being more deserving of Butkas Award, "Let me just say this: I watch film of A.J. Hawk to get better. I don't think he watches film of me."

Ednecks, your smartitude (yeah that is a word..look it up!) never fails to amaze me. Yes, everyone will have problems with bye weeks...but it is very risky to have your first 2 picks or two 2 out of three on the same bye week....
Peace out nizzles...A-Town

smartitude? Shucks, nobody has ever called be smart before..thanks joe. I hear Ya joe, having two on bye isn't so bad if they are not your freaking first two picks.

Tribe--Why doesn't someone like RBP or his buddy just make a educated pick for Travis, He's losing out on some good guys. I think He'll understand

I did notice the bye weeks are starting to double up. I was going to take two other players before I took Brees because whatever week they were off coincided with another player I din't want off with my QB. Does that make sense?

5th round kicker OK..steve is up in both leagues now. Guys, preselect so you dont make us wait, or worse yet (for you, not me), lose position for your pick which will screw you over, midget could have had Rackers if he had game planned...this is the second time now that someone has timed out.

I wsa just looking at the spread sheet for survivor from two years ago.....I think I had the worst team in the history of worst teams.

Koetter uses the same coaching technique and Joes drafting..spin the wheel and hope it's the right guy.

Gary Coleman plays Clarrett in the Movie..He He..talk about a career and life going in the toilet, Maybe this will wakeup a few of these Future superstars who think their shit don't stink and who get pampered their whole College life, might realize it could all go down the drain when bad decisions are made/I guess being slower then RBP doesn't help either...I hope he gets a fews years, might wake him up and he can write a book on how he scewed everything up.

I can understand being tied up at wotk and sleeping, and not really wanting to setup a pre-list from so far out, but when you know your picking within 2-4 picks and won't be able to check the site within the hour, I can't see why you can't set a pre-list of 2-3 players...makes no sense to me and it sucks.

Ok, suggestion now, I know that everyone is all about radical changes to this league, so I have an idea. How about if you have a player that is injured during the draft, you are able to drop him and pick up a new player after everyone else has drafted. Therefore you are not stuck with an injured player during drafting and at the same time, your new selection won’t hinder anybody else’s future draft pick because everyone else has already drafted. You follow me here? Actually, maybe it does not even have to be an injury, just a mistake you want to correct, cuspension, cut, trade etc.. I am prepared for arguments now.

It's about being considerate. I don't have a problem with folks working/sleeping and basically living life. I know it can't be helped sometimes, but I think a lot of the busting of the 12 hours and not pre-picking when you get close is just being ignorant!!

I know JHHH has limited access, but he calls me once a day from the states to check the progress and leaves me a list, that all I ask.

I think someone last year wanted to change their player after drafting him and we didn't allow it.

Not sure SMArio, it would have to be RBP or Shak,s decision.

hmmmmm......I see no problem with it as long as it does not influence anyone elses draft pick...if no one else has went yet and he stated his error I say go with it, its not like someone else would have taken Stevens if Mario did not....the precedent has been made with the Chicago CHI Def pick being reversed in the 6th round.....im kidding, but Im not.

Serious though, I have stated this in the past, and there were no comments to say yes or no....maybe your silence is an indication???? Anyway, I know this is radical, but I think we should consider that at the end of the draft, once everyone has selected their picks each owner has the chance to drop one of his (or hers/ednecks) players that were injured or traded, arrested or whatever..just a mistake pick. I see nothing wrong with it. Its not an advantage if everyone can do it. Just a thought

Back to Mario..I Just feel like writing now and pissing people off:
I can vouch for Mario and I know the only reason he picked Stevens is because he is stupid..I mean he rushed the selection cause when he woke up this morning (drunk) he drafted before work so that the rest of the league would not have to wait six hours til his lunch break to go on with the draft...his consideration screwed him here (and his stupidity). Actually, I am not going to cover his arse for a bad pick (his bad, stupid arse). Mario Lesson Learned here....dont be considerate next time and rush your pick, take your time and make eveyone wait on you....once the season starts you have no friends anyway.

Joe that would be a major change to the rules being able to change a player out, but you can't even let a player have his special team TD points which might happen once or twice, Please don't give me the ST totals yards speil. I can see if it was a honest mistake like a defense team pick, but he had time to make his pick and select the player he wanted, so he didn't do his homework first. I selected Bledsoe last year and that gave me 2 QB's with the same bye/week stupid mistake and I had to make a trade to rectify it. My first year of playing Fantasy football I got Drunk and ended up taking Carl Pickins in the first round did they let me off the hook, hell no.

I can understand that a few of these boys could care less how many hours thay make people wait, so use your 12 hours like a few are using and make a safe pick...remember we are in no hurry and considration of others is a afterthought for a few of these new boys!!

I really don't care one

Been wondering when the first big injury of the year was going to happen. We may have our first -- Greg Jones out for the year. It's unconfirmed, but if it's true that will leave a whole in a couple owners' rosters. Backstreet, err, Broadstreet Boys selected Greg in the 5th, while STD drafted him in the 7th. Should they be allowed to replace them at the end of the draft or should we all be allowed to snicker and think "glad it wasn't one of mine!"

Some guy using Joes computer:
I'm with Ednecks, I don’t know what the hell Joe was talking about. Of course drafting and statistical scoring (like ST) are the same thing and one should not consider revising one without the other. What a hypocrite you are Joe!

Joe:
Ednecks is living proof that age equals knowledge and being cranky. Apples and Oranges, how do you compare the drafting process to stats???? You were licking your chops there huh thinking you got me..but your comparison holds no weight unless you just claim that in the past I was not willing to have change but now I am suggesting it....you scare me sometimes. I rememeber you picking those two QB's too, I would have never traded with you if I knew you would bring it up against me in another one of your weak arguments.

Hey shak, I agree with you 100%, it is fun to say thank god it was not me and laughing at people that get injured players and hope it leads to their early demise. Its part of what makes this method of FFB fun, knowing that you cant change or help anything….it was just a suggestion that I have brought up in the past and I did not get a response….I took advantage of the Mario Situation to bring it up again. Once again, my suggestion was not to take place during the season, but right after the draft. Also, losing a player like a number one pick to injury and replacing him with some scrub in the "11th round", its not like you are getting the same value.... But this does not really matter to me, you see, I was not doing this for me, my 8-ball will tell me what players will get injured..so I avoid them. (knock on wood)

PS
If this board was more active I would not be forced to initiate these conversations.

Not trying to get you Joe, your taking things a little to much to heart. One thing we know you have definite feelings on certain subjects and nothing will make you budge from those beliefs, respect. I'm easy, If you want to change players or swap them out go ahead its fine with me. There's only thing that bugs me and delaying the draft for 8+ hours, is not called for, unless time difference or work, even then leaving prepicks or asking one of your buddies to make your pick should be happening, HHH calls me from the States to get an update.

"Backstreet boys" he he. Replacing injured/jailed/released players after the draft might be a hot topic? I mean if we let everyone make player changes we'll be talking about players that get benched in favor of other players before week 1 ex: Grossman/Griese, Losman/Holcomb, Betts/Portis/Duckett. How do we determine an injury enough to award a change?

I'm not bothered either way, just as long as it's not during the season, because there will be a few sleeper players that will go large that were not drafted.

I agree with Joe. He asked to switch before any other picks were made. The precedent was set with the Bears defense pick.

I agree with Ednecks on some of the rookies this year too. We will get the draft done in time, but no thanks to some folks. 56 hours to make 8 picks? That is lame.

Joe, I'll back your proposal if you'll stop kicking my horsey. It may be too late to incorporate that rule this year (unless one of my players suddenly goes down), but I think it's do-able.

We could say that an owner would need to put in his request for the supplemental pick on this message board prior to the last pick of the draft being made. He must state which player he would like to replace -- no justifaction needed. The owners making the supplemental request would make their picks after the draft in the order the original player was drafted -- higher draft pick replacements would select first. It's do-able. Owners wouldn't be able to renege on their supplemental request. They can't change their mind just because there's no one any better.

As far as this year, where do we draw the line? We did allow the Chi Bears replacement pick. Do we allow the Stevens pick? How about Greg Jones? Tough call. Where are you Scotty?

Regarding the Stevens pick--My gut initial reaction is that if you don't do your research and you pick a player who is going to miss half the season....that is your fault, live with it.

Regarding drafting a player that gets hurt before the season starts....not your fault but thats the breaks, deal with it.

I also have a soft side. Owners that spend all 12 hours and get skipped can replace a player at anytime. An owner who makes a "quick bad pick" gets screwed. I appreciate those who make quick picks...obviously nobody likes to keep checking into the draft to see that the same couple dudes are always OTC. It's like golf. If you swing and miss it's only a 1 stroke penalty, but if you hit it 300 yards and your ball ends up 2" out of bounds you get penalized stroke AND distance.

Regarding a one round supplemental draft at the conclusion of round 10? I think it's doable and all teams could participate regardless if you have injuries or not. I have few concerns though.
1) We have very simple rules, thats done on purpose so you can have at least one league that you don't need a law degree to figure out all of the technicalities/loopholes that come up every season in almost every league. I say that to say we have nothing in any rules that say we can or can't just implement a rule whenever we feel like it. If it isn't written then it's a Commisioner judgement call. I trust that you trust my judgement but some of you may not?
2) Were playing for money. When you play for money you have to make sure everything is on the "up and up". Making a rule change now will help some owners, not help some others and could hurt some too (teams will get better, not get better, or will get worse by default if everybody else gets better).
3) I'm reluctant to make change right now unless we have a major majority (75%) of owners that are down with adding one round based off of Shak's proposal.
4) Were trying to have fun (which I would say we do based on feed back about this league and the format), don't want anybody to think they are getting SCREWED.

Please add your comments.

Since It was my stupid idea, I think we should vote upon it, however, the rule will not take place until next year. I only say that because money is involved (as RBP stated) and some may be upset based upon a rule change, otherwise I would say let this ruling take place this year. But like I said, I have a magic 8-ball!

I agree that we can vote on it for next year. No way it should be implemented this year. I will admit right now that I am going to vote no. It sucks for the team that drafts a guy who gets hurt 10 minutes later, but those are the breaks. There is breaking news near the end of the draft that helps players too. Like Stallworth. Does his value go up now that he just got traded to Philly? Maybe. Or Maurice Jones-Drew or Toefield, now that Jones is out both probably have more value. I don't think it would be very cool to draft LaDainian Tomlinson in the first round, watch him get hurt and be declared out for the season and then see a competitor be able to draft Michael Turner in a supplemental draft. That's like a double wammy.

I didn't see your final decison for Mario, but would like to add the biggest reason I was for letting him change was because he said it right away, before anyone else picked. Had he waited for a pick to go by, I say it's too late.

I'm having a hard time envisioning the LT scenario. If LT goes down, his owner would request a supplemental draft pick. It's hard to imagine that he wouldn't have the first supplemental pick. There's no rule to say that Turner wouldn't be picked up during the draft by another owner. That can't be avoided, but at least the LT owner would be able to pick up another player instead of having that huge hole on his roster.

I agree, yes and yes. I can't believe I passed up Palmer is sooooo many leagues this year worrying about his injury. Damn.

There's no rule to say that Turner wouldn't be picked up during the draft by another owner.
I agree with that, but he hasn't been drafted in either league and won't be drafted in either league. Now, let's say the draft is over and teams have to declare for their supplemental pick. It just so happens that the Chargers are playing when LT's leg falls off. The team that drafted Greg Jones has already declared for a supplemental pick. Who would you rather have:
A) The recently promoted 2nd string RB for the Jags
B) The recently promoted starting RB for the Chargers?

Maybe an idea for a supplemental pick is to make it only for the same position on the same team. I think I could go for something like that.

I like how the league is simple, though. Getting screwed over and then having your leaguemates laugh at you cuz your f*cked is part of the fun. If we wanted to be more risk free we could just draft team QB's and team kickers. Just my 2 cents.

I feel very stupid for picking bears D. That was my mistake and believe I picked before anyone else made their next selection. I think that is fair. Who does it hurt if you make a mistake before the next person picks (as long as it is legitemate). But, picking up another player because one that you drafted gets injured is just the pitfalls of being in a league such as this one. That is why there are no free agent pick ups in the middle of the season. Even trading players because you screwed up and didn't pay attention to your bye weeks is borderline.

(Don't we do this every year?)

I have been thinking a lot about my last pick in the WP. I don't have a kicker, but have been contemplating not drafting one. There are a lot of good players left. Sure, you might get 10-13 points from your kicker on a very good week, but there are also weeks where you will get 0-3 points too. Has anyone else ever thought about this or actually done it? This year's draft seems much deeper than any year I can ever remember. There are a lot of other players out there that can score some points.

My first year in this league I went kickerless...I cant say it hurt me that bad cause my team was so bad anyway a kicker would not matter. Last year both my teams had kickers that were 1 and 2 in scoring (i think) for the season, so it helped me out alot and saved my arse a couple times...i would say go with the kicker.

Damn, triple post, but I went ahead and drafted Seabass in RW, just need Koenen in WP.

I'm trying to work it. It's a tough nut to crack because he's listed as a punter.

Greg Jones- So can his owners have a supplemental pick for him? I have him in the other league. Maybe my answer is somewhere in these posts, if so can someone paste it in? I wouldn't mind taking Fred Taylor's recently promoted back-up.

"Less than a minute Joe"..thats what my Xwife use to call me too. I just had to say that before ednecks or some other character uses that against me in the future.

From the commish (post 183)

3) I'm reluctant to make change right now unless we have a major majority (75%) of owners that are down with adding one round based off of Shak's proposal.

I've made my final picks based on what's going on in the NFl right now. What advantage will someone changing a player have with each passing day? Already 2 trades Collins/Stallworth have been made by NFL teams that have affected players status.

I'll go with the majority, but my vote is no. Maybe a rule change for next year.

Before I joined the league and when I used to just read your guys trash talking, Shak was my favorite poster. Then I joined the league and Ednecks sage advice and witty retorts led him to become my favorite poster. Today I took some Vicodin for my shoulder and now Joe is my favorite poster.

Oh, how the mighty have fallen! You have one bad season and you get cast aside for the new, sexy, high draft choice (or undrafted FA, as in Joe's case). Even Quentin Griffin had a longer run than Ed and I. How can I regain the top spot again?

TB--Drugs and Joe go hand in hand. His mother was on Prozac his whole childhood. Anyone happy or pleased with their Rosters? I like my RW roster with Brady, Tiki, Boldin, Witten as the core. Deangelo Williams could be nice if Fragile Foster gets his yearly injury. My WP team has a few hole, after Delhomme, Caddy, Holt, Driver, Crumpler and Witten it gets a little suspect Grossman probably won't make it to Delhommes bye week and I'm very thin with Norwood as my only other back.

TB I like your RB's in the WP If they stay healthy, LT, Taylor and Foster should be nice, Simms as your only QB is risky, but I like the depth in WR. Maybe we should do a trade If you want to get another WR like Holt or Driver for one of your RB's?

I think my WP team could be very good, but it is somewhat injury prone and unrpoven potential. I'll go as far as my RBs (Chris Brown, Ronnie Brown, Mike Bell, and Warrick Dunn) can carry me.

For my RW team, I really like McNabb and my TEs Gates and Watson. I need Fast Willie and VP Gore to stay healthy and Muhsin to regain his form that allowed Skiba to steal the championship 2 years ago.

Houston talking about cutting DD? I should have selected Lundy when I had the chance. Henry the starter in Tenn? Mike Bell how long does he keep that job?

Shak--If those 4 Rb's keep there starting jobs, thats a very solid 4 Rb's.

Sorry Dunn and Brown are safe starters, didn't mean to imply otherwise.

Regarding what ednecks said about all the trades in the NFL.....I think that is even more of a reason to allow a supplemental pick. I mean, this league is based on one draft and you stick with your players for the entire season...its all about strategy (except for ed, he emails me daily for advice..I miss him in the offseason)...and I will give you a real life situation guys...I was going to pick Hank Baskett with my last pick since he was going to be the 2 WR and was having a very good preseason (homer)..however, this saint trade takes place which will bump Baskett to third WR, or maybe even worse. So I could have been stuck with a WR that wont play thanks to a trade..or on the other side of the spectrum if I had Stallworth and picked him due to not only talent but bye weeks, well that is screwed up now too. Now if real world situations mess up your strategy in preseason, I see no reason why you cant correct realities mistake. And I guess the same thing for injuries too. Hey, I know it is extreme and it will hurt and help all of us in the future..but I dont think it is that bad of an idea...like I said in the past, this is not my ball, so I will just go with the flow (but I will still argue).
TB, Im not sure if that is a good thing or not, but as long as it upsets ednecks I am happy. Im sober tonight gents, so I think I am going to call it a night!
