In an attempt to stay coordinated on administrative issues, and in order to avoid mid-season discoveries of disconnects, I thought it would be a good idea to compare the points scored in our league vs. those calculated in the other RIFC leagues. The purpose is to make sure the all leagues are being scored comparably. Each year, it seems like we discover a formula discrepancy in mid-season, so this is an attempt to get consistent from the beginning.

I printed a pdf file with the top 200 players after week 1, sorted by points:
http://rotoguru1.com/foot/RIFC/week1_top200.pdf

Please compare this against the same report at each of the game sites to ensure that all points are being calculated the same. (I originally posted this in the football forum, but than thought that maybe it would be more likely to be noticed here, since this is where your discussion threads reside.)

Just in case you're not familiar with the idiosyncrasies of the free agent claiming and waiver wire processes, as commissioners, you all have some routine administrative duties each week.

The fanball/AOL system should be able to automatically reset the claiming priorities each week. These are the priorities that are used for free agent claiming each Wednesday at noon (at least, that's when our league does it). Priorities are based on reverse standings, with ties broken by cumulative point totals (lower points have higher priorities).

Once free agent claims are processed each week, you need to reset the waiver wire priorities to conform to the priorities that come out of the free agent claims. Fanball does not integrate these two priority lists. For example, if the team with top priority makes a free agent claim, it goes to the back of the priority list. You will need to make that same adjustment manually to the waiver wire priority list, which will apply to any waiver claims processed for the balance of the week.

It's a very simple process, and can be done anytime during the 48 hours after free agent claims are processed, since that's when the first waiver claims would be processed. But you need to remember to do it.

My numbers match up here at the AAA2 league. We're currently working out some waiver issues but otherwise, I think its under control.

AA numbers look good also with AOL.

We ran our wavers seemingly without a hitch. Adjusting waver priority, during the week shouldn't be a problem, as AOL sends me an email everytime someone picks up a FA.

mjd, would you mind if I send you an email later today to discuss how the waiver wire is set up on AOL. I think I have it set up correctly but I want to double check it. If that's cool could you post your email or email me?

Just a reminder - if you're following the RIFC claim priority rules, this is the last week when priorities are reset. Next week's priorities should be a carryover from whatever is left over after this week.

Just to be clear, I've reset the list for today (wednesday's) claims to be made. Do I still need to reset the waiver wire list on Thursday?

Yes, reset for this week. After this week, you'll need to reset the new FA claim priorities based on the previous week's ending waiver priorties, just to keep both sets in synch. That process will need to continue throughout.
