Subject: Survivor Week IX

Welcome to Week IX -- the midway point and the last bye week. Mike Z asked how a team that was eliminated can win the high week score. I went back thru the archives and didn't find it spelled out that only teams that are alive are eligible for the high one week score. I guess in our effort to keep it simple, we felt it wasn't necessary to document it.
I for one am not happy when someone tells me "that's the way we've always done it." I think this should be discussed and decided if it is the best way to do it. In the past, we have rewarded the highest total scoring teams from each league, but we dropped that. This year, we were also going to drop the high one week score, but since the scorekeeping is easier than past years, I recommended that the money go for that prize. My thought was that even if both of your teams are eliminated, at least you still have a chance to win your money back with the high one week score. Does anyone disagree?
I don't think we can change the way we handle that at this stage, but does anyone have any recommendations for improving the payouts for next year? |

Shak Daddy the reason is to keep all owners/teams involved even if they were eliminated early in the season. If it needs tweaked I'm fine with that but that was the original idea.

Arent we giving a 'prize' for overall score in each league? Well I can assume that the highest overscore winner usually is knocked out at some point...therefore the even if eliminated, the highest week should count....that is just my point of view (and the way it should be) ednecks, next off the...oh nevermind

I agree with Shak. I don't have a problem with the high score going to someone that was nocked out. I already assumed that was the case...and keeps everyone active in the league.

It's sad enough the participation is only from a few teams anyway, I think we have to try and keep the guys that get knocked out early something to at least keep them checking in once in a while.
I have no problem with a team getting the high score after being knocked out. IT's not that big a deal, most of the money goes to the winners anyhow.
6 team have both teams still playing: Ednecks, Shak, Harmon, Trash, Grim Reaper, TB.
8 teams have 1 team remaining: Gumsellers, TT, MM, RBP, Mario, Cobb, Joe, Tribe.
4 teams are shit out of luck: JHHH, BSB, Steve (Shak feeding him the wrong info), STB.
I think it's time Shak, TB and Trash, join those 8 teams with 1 team left.

I definetly agree with that analysis...especially since you left my team name out of it.

Both of my teams have had a couple weeks of being near the bottom so I have to keep my fingers crossed each week. With no QB or kicker in the WP, it's just been a matter of time before that team falls. In the RW, I have a beat-up Roethlisberger (mentally and physically) going this week along with banged up R. Bush, Burress, and Jennings. Both my teams could be gone this week.
I thought I already posted in this thread that I don't have a problem with the high score going to someone that was knocked out and agree with everyone else above. I guess I didn't click "post now" or it was just a really wierd dream.

Another thing crossed my mind the other week and I forgot to mention it. If you lose points due to a fumble, why shouldn't you get points for a fumble recovery. I’m not saying that if your RB recovers his own fumble, cause why should you get rewarded for screwing up…but if one of your players recovers the fumble of a teammate? Just another thought brought to you by your friendly neighborhood Joe!

Why is Tynes listed as a QB/RB when he is actually a Kicker? Does it matter...can you combine the two kickers points for the teams total? I'm refering to the WP division under Tribes team.

Good catch. Tribe can only have one Kicker. His total should be 39. Tribe is out.

The Tribe and RBP join the SOL club...JHHH must feel better now since he has company and the high score as a bonus.

TO's dropped pass did me in...that woulod have been a 74 more yards and a TD....thats 13 plus the 3 point bonus for going over 100+. Haven't seen the sheet yet but 16 more points would have helped. Thanks TO, you ruined MY SEASON too.
