YES!

with my 4th win of the season, i'm now back in the playoff hunt! :o)

i've just had a double whammy of bad luck.

yes, my team is by far the lowest scoring squad. but i've also had the fifth most points scored against me, so that is just a brutal combination.

I don't know how great my team is, but my mojo is awesome. woe to he who plays against my team on any given week. upon that week his team shall most likely sucketh.

Apparently holt's mojo has been stolen.

And just in time to run into my buzzsaw of a team.

yeah - crappy week. if only i had known to start gado and m.bell instead of s.jackson and t.jones. and leinart instead of eli. go figure.

really though, I'm just glad to get through the week with no major injuries (such as donovan mcnabb).

3 games on thursday!

Ugh, lost a game by 0.28pts. Guess I'll have to hope for a scoring change this week! Certainly someone must have gotten a tackle somewhere that wasn't noticed yet :)

Can anyone help me find the rules for promotion to the RIFC from AAA? I found where it says that 3 of us move up, but I don't know what the criteria are for selecting those 3.

For the record I picked bmd and holt in the preseason analysis:)

Thanks.

Congrats to Taxman, 217.84 points is amazing...even if you are a homer!

Postseason Free Agent Claim Rules
Players at the primary skill positions (QB, RB, WR) and team defenses may not be added for any reason during the playoffs. Free agents at these positions will be locked out after the final regular season game. You may drop a player at one of these positions, but once dropped, that player cannot be added later.

Players at the other positions (TE, PK, IDP) may be added or dropped according to normal regular season guidelines, subject to playoff claiming priorities, if applicable.

Following the final regular season game, claiming/waiver priorities will be reset based on playoff seed, with the top seed getting the top priority. Thereafter, throughout the playoffs, priorities will again adjust only when a claim is awarded.

Consolation Bracket

I don't really care to set up the consolation bracket. I can be talked out of it, but I would like to hear input before I bother.

Seeds 1-5 are locked up, however the order is still wide open with the exception of bmd.

No offense bmd, but I wouldn't mind being the 8 seed since McNabb has been knocked out of commission (exact same injury as mine...I feel your...well his, pain).

Seeds 6-8 are a real horserace, between jtserb, smith32, and Taxman after his huge week. Slowhand, and Toral have an outside shot at making it in via points while Stl needs a lot of help to make it through W/L records.

I don't know if my QB-WR-WR draft strategy proved the exception to the rule or it just proved that there are no rules, but I built this team for the playoffs and am happy to be there. I just need Manning to be Manning. I am looking forward to completing my 2nd half sweep of the league before the playoffs kick off though.

The way I see it Tree, is that your toilet bowl week is this week. You have your chance at passing Wolfer coming up.

Thanks Trip...and thanks also for your work this season for this league. Also, kudo's to Tree for maintaining great attitude and effort with a team out of the play off race early on.

Wish I coulda spread a few of the 217 points back to the weeks that I lost games to:
bmd 137.92 - 140.00
Your Future Champ 116.74 - 119.30
slowhand 153.90 - 155.06

shoulda..coulda..woulda

Oddest stat is my scores for:
wk 11: 97.84
wk 12: 217.84

Which team shows up wk 13??

seems like I remember having to manually adjust waiver rankings every week last season. why does the fanball/aol engine have separate claim/waiver systems? no one knows. it's a bad system and a major pain in the butt for commissioners.

No...but that is another thought.

Kudos are for the classy act of not quitting/throwing in the towel. We have all seen others bail on their team and the league after falling out of the race. Or worse yet, make a horrible unbalanced trade that packs a playoff team as the playoffs are to start. There are vulture managers out there willing to screw the league without a second thought about sportsmanship.

i definitely had several offers proposed to me by teams in the thick of the playoff race.

i don't know that anyone was trying to rip me off, but i didn't feel there were any trades offered that would truly benefit my team to the level it needed. it would have taken a LOT to get a key player off my team.

RE: #32 You can count me out of the playoff race even if I win both games. No way will I finish 6th and the 7th and 8th seeds are filled by points and not by record, at least that is my understanding. My points are low due to a very slow start with some injuries, so even though I've gotten better lately I'm still toast.

Wouldn't be bad to amend the rules to disqualify a team from the playoffs if they don't know the rules..(if adopted, would be named the Taxman Rule, aka Dumb@$$ Rule)

StL Cards appears to be correct per the following:

See post 193 final 2006 RIFC rules

Playoffs
8 teams
Top 6 W/L records are seeded 1-6
Top remaining total points are seeded 7-8
Teams with equivalent W/L records are seeded based on head-to-head first, then total points

Bracket is fixed (no reseeding after each round)

Players at the primary skill positions (QB, RB, WR) and team defenses may not be added for any reason during the playoffs. Free agents at these positions will be locked out after the final regular season game. You may drop a player at one of these positions, but once dropped, that player cannot be added later.

Players at the other positions (TE, PK, IDP) may be added or dropped according to normal regular season guidelines, subject to playoff claiming priorities, if applicable.

Team which are not still active in the Championship playoffs may not make any transactions - adds or drops - even if they are still competing in the Consolation bracket.

Well here comes the playoffs. Was really hoping to sweep this weekend in order to get a #2 seed but ended up getting swept. Not liking my chances right now too much. I was pretty fortunate avoiding injuries througout the season, as my only main one was to Leftwich, but now injuries have hit several of my key guys (Ronnie Brown, Colston, Horn). Thought I was in trouble at QB after Leftwich went down, but Vince Young has put up some impressive point totals lately, so he needs to conitnue that. Also, it appears as if a large chunk of my fate relies on the Baltimore Defense. It seems as if they don't put up 30 points a week, I have little chance of winning a matchup.

the last four weeks of the season, my team went 4-4, which is respectable considering that i went 3-15 first nine weeks.

in those last four weeks, two of those losses were by less than 5 points.

it take a bit of luck, but i think i have a reasonable shot here in the Toilet Bowl.

I'd still rather be the #8 seed than the #6.

If i manage to pull through this week, I fully expect to open a can of whoop ass next. My matchups were pitiful this, week. Took all of my strength not to start Garcia and Benson in this week. I won't even be tempted to sit the A-team next week.

BTW, you gotta love the Vernon Davis spot start, I just can't believe Joey "Turnover Machine" Harrington didn't show up today.

Oops, should be a "now", not "not", in case it couldn't be figured out.

It truly is amazing how the smallest of plays mean the difference between advancing and losing. It's also tough to choose just one, but I'll go with this for the matchup between Smith32 (who had Kaeding and Gonzalez going for him in the Sun. night game) and I: I'm up by less than 2 points with about 4 min to go and the Chargers are on their last (meaningful) drive of the game. It's 3rd and goal on the KC 2, and LT of course gets the ball and of course scores the easy TD and Kaeding kicks in the harmless extra point and I go on to win by 0.1 points. But nooo, LT gets stuffed for what would seem to be the first time this season which sets up Kaeding for the chip-shot FG that clinches Smith's win. I'm not complaining in the least, I just think it's amazing how this is a game of inches. Congrats Smith on the well-deserved win.

Thanks, DaBomb. I went nuts when Gonzo dropped that pass in the end zone on the drive before they stuffed LT. I thought I was done for. Like you said, it is amazing that we can send 15 players out there and have it come down to that.

I guess there is still the possibility of an AOL scoring change?

Sorry about Kevin Jones, bmd. I figure I am good for 60 tonight anyway, so hopefully the error won't be a factor.

Ouch...Sorry, bmd...if I hang on to this win, it will be bittersweet and definitely more bitter than sweet. I do believe that you qualified for the big leagues next year, if that is any consolation.

No prob. I'm travelling around Australia right now so at least I have a good excuse for why I didn't make the change. Good luck in the title game and hopefully we'll see each other in RIFC next year.

weird. i didn't notice that slowhand actually advanced into the second round - to beat me - despite losing in the first round.

how did that happen?!?! lol

Good luck, Trip. I am afraid that your contingent of Colts will go nuts against the Texans, but you never know who might step up and deliver 21 tackles or something. I'm just happy to have a shot.

Congrats Smith...conceding now so I don't have to worry about rooting against my 'fins tonight. Gonna watch the game with my bro, and it will be nice to not feel conflicted about a good game from the Dolphin's D.

Thank you Trip and STL - it was really fun competing in this league. You know you have solid competition on here, and everyone pretty much played it out to the end - no quitters. I consider myself very fortunate to have won, especially given that my first two picks were L. Jordan and W. Dunn. Hope everyone had a nice holiday, and maybe I'll see a few of you in RIBC AAA in a few months.
