0 Subject: Survivor Week XIV

Posted by: Shak
- [156371210] Wed, Dec 06, 2006, 16:33

Welcome to the last week to win immunity. Teams still alive without immunity this week have a 25% chance of getting the boot in the RW. Things are a little different in the WP, where Joe is living on borrowed time and looks to be at least a 2-1 favorite for getting the boot.

RW -- TrashHaulers have immunity. Still alive are Shak(1), Trash(2), Terry Tate(3), Ednecks(4), and Gay Reaper(6).

Teams in Jeopardy:
Gay Reaper -- We'll start at the bottom of the barrell with the team that has been the bubble boy the last two weeks and the last remaining two kicker team in either division. The strong suit for GR (other than K) is Palmer at QB. He'll need more to survive. Caddilac has a neutral matchup at home vs. Atlanta, while Fragile Fred has a great matchup with Indy. He has Torry Holt going MNF and there's a distinct possibility he may need Holt points to survive.

Ednecks -- Last week's immune team may need it this week. Don't expect a ton of points from the QBs with Brady at Miami and Carr vs. Tenn. Tiki at Carolina is another tough matchup. If Foster is still on the shelf, DeAngelo may get some points. That game and the NE @ Miami will go a long way to determining Edneck's fate this week. WRs have big game potential or they could go bust. Boldin at home vs. Seattle is best hope, though Booker (vs. NE) or Witten (vs NO) could surprise.

Terry Tate -- This team lost immunity on a tiebreaker. It would be cruel to get the boot after that, but with all the teams being so close, it could happen. TT has a solid scorer at QB (Vick), RB (Rudi), WR (Harrison), and TE (Shockey, Winslow). They all have decent matchups, except for Rudy, who will face a tougher than expected Raider D. Could also get bonus points from Coles and/or Jacobs.

Shak -- The number one team is not looking like a #1 team without Donovan. QB points are very iffy with Losman (@ NYJ). RB points should be solid with Parker (vs. Cle) and Gore (vs. GB). TE should also bring solid points with Gates (vs. Den) and Watson (@ Mia). Matt Jones went big last week, but that was more likely a fluke. He does have a fave matchup at Houston though. Hopefully, I won't need Muhammad points on MNF to survive.

Head -- Grim Reaper does the old two step in weeks 13 and 14.

Heart -- Ednecks must go for the fat lady remark.

Gut -- I think it will come down to MNF with Muhammad getting just enough for me to edge GR.

WP -- Harmon has immunity. Teams still alive are GCobb(1), Trash(3), TB(4), Harmon(11), Joe(14).

Team in jeopardy:
Joe -- Now that the Gay Reaper is gone and Harmon has immunity, what hope does Joe have of surviving? He has no QB and no K and although TB is in a similar boat, at least TB has LT. Joe will need a buttload of points from Westbrook (@Wash) and J Lewis (@KC). Even then, it will probably still come down to Bruce on MNF (vs. Chi) and that won't be pretty.

Head -- It would take a miracle to save Joe.
Heart -- Do you believe in miracles?? I do and I want Trash to lose a team (e has immunity in the other league).
Gut -- No miracle this week, Joe. See you next year.

Shak you know that Fat Lady comment was made because you have a beautiful singing voice.

A little G-wiz info:

RW draft positions and 1st round pick: Trash (3) LT, Edneck (4) Barber, Toothless Tate (10) Rudi J., GR (12) Caddy, Shak (16) Fast Willie.

WP: Cobb (1) LJ, TB (2) LT, Joe (8) Westbrook, Harmon (13) P. Manning, Trash (17) McGahee.

The worst 1st round pick was Caddy by a mile and GR is either lucky or drafted well the rest of the way.

I think that info shows it doesn't matter were you draft you have a shot to last till the end. It does show If you had LT and I'd say LJ, (only JHHH could lose with that stallion) you had a great chance to survive. It does show if your 1st round pick turns out to have a average year you can still have a good team if you draft well in the proceeding rounds, especially if you grab that sleeper in the later rounds...and of course a little luck always helps, just ask Joe. I have the #2 scoring team in the WP, but one bad week and your gone no matter how great you play the rest of the season.

I'll say Joe goes in the WP and with with the top 5 out of 6 scoring teams left in the RW it's a crap shoot for sure, Shak was the favorite until McNabb went down, but he's still very good especially drafting from slot 16.

Last year it was S. Alexander who had the great season and those teams lasted quite a while with him..this year it's obvious LT is powering those teams.

Last question is can the Trashman do the double, now that would be very impressive.

Yeah, Shak is definately holding this thing together. This isn't the first time I've created a league and somebody else has taken it over.....LMSCL and the original Survivor league are two examples. I just lose interest, then I have interest, then I lose it etc...must have ADD.

It is probably because I haven't been in here stirring up crap. I am sure also if you were winning, it would be different.

I have the same problem with the WOF league. Keeping people interested the entire season is tough. It is tough to look at the page everyday to see my team losing once again. This past year has been my worst yet, but it is a keeper league, so there is always hope.

You guys going to run the playoff game again? As you can see by the other game, I am easy pickings once again. I will admit that I don't spend as much time as I did on research and details, but I still know what to look for each week, but I guess I just don't have it this year. Ok, not just this year, but I wouldn't consider myself an idiot either.

I with you on that one Scotty. I need to finish my classes I am in and seriously crack the books. Me staying here is going to hinge a lot on whether or not I make MSgt.

By my count, Ed, you'll need 37 points to tie me for immunity in RW. GR looks like a goner.

Joe never had a chance in WP. Trash is looking tough with immunity likely in WP.

Not even sure how you get 37 points, but I'm not even in second place that would be Trash with Mush left. Immunity is sweet at this point...good luck just looking too survive..Witten and Jones probably not enough to get me immunity..

Terry Tatar Salad Tate and myself are tied at 85 points. Can someone please provide some insight. Just want to know if I can last another week on the bubble to kick another person off the island via the Grim Reaper curse.

Did I Mention Aaron Brooks is a pro bowler on my game? Please adjust the score accordingly and I Look forward to next week

LOL, Joe, you are definitely one of the few that makes this board worth checking in on. I think next season, we should make an effort to only invite owners that will be active.

If any owner still has a team alive at this point of the season, they should definitely be interacting here and enjoying a very successful season. It is getting very exciting for the final four in each league.

Buddy, where are you? You need to be here talking junk!

Weekly predictions should get much easier at this point with only 4 teams remaining in each league and one having immunity.

WP - Trash with immunity. GCobb, TB, and Harmon fighting to stay alive and make the final three.
GCobb has plenty of favorable match-ups and looks to be safe. Is it coincidence that TB and Harmon face off this week at fleaflicker? I don't think so. I still have holes in my line-up with no QB or kicker points and some tough match-ups (Moulds @ NE, Foster @ PIT, and Edwards @ BAL). While Harmon has some tough match-ups or players that are struggling with consistant playing time (Williams @ PIT, Bennett vs JAX, Morency, Franks, and Volek) he has some good match-ups too with RB's Jones and Bell. Could be very close.

RW - Shak with immunity. Trash, Ed, and Terry Tate fighting to stay alive and make the final three. I just looked at those three teams and they are all equally matched. I noticed that Ednecks and Terry Tate are scheduled to play at fleaflicker as well so maybe that's a sign. I just said, "Heads is Ed" and flipped a coin. It came up heads. I forgot to say out loud whether this meant he would win or go home. Tricky stuff flipping coins.

That gave me a good laugh. Here I thought it was some crazy coincidence.

Good thinking on your part. I hadn't checked it out. Glad to see that we can make every team play to keep the scoring going.

I think I am going to move my other leagues to this site if it is still free next year. It's been a good site.

TB--I'll agree that Shak, Joe yourself and RBP have kept things alive for the past 15 weeks..GGR shows up from time to time.

RW league will be tough the top 4 scoring teams left in the show, so Shak getting immunity was huge and a big bonus, because any of the four teams are capable of beating the other.

All I can say is good luck to the remaining four in each league and if Joe's team made the final four I might have thrown-up and never played again...

In addition to our survivor leagues, I think we should have an 18-team H2H league with the same scoring and starter requirements (except let's count all TD's to include return TD's). Let's get crazy and make it a 5 player bench (12 round draft) with waiver claims and trades like a normal league. Three divisions, 8 team play-off. I am in plenty of 12 and 14 team leagues. It's time to raise the bar.

LOL, I Cant stop TB...btw ednecks, I will never be replaced;)

I brought this up in the past and was pretty much ignored...a "thats a bad idea Joe" is better then ignoring my idea! Anyway, same draft system, same numbers of team and everything. The only difference is when a team gets knocked out, all his players go into a pool. Starting from the lowest ranked team, they can choose to trade one of their current players for one in the pool. If you dont want to trade then dont. And then it goes to the next team and so on and so on. Each week the pool will grow larger, and people that drafted studs that get injured will be given a second life. But of course the pool would have to close at some time, maybe after game 8. Another idea I had is that if a team gets knocked out and gets the highest score the next week, that team is brought back to life and the two lowest teams that next week are knocked off. I know, unlikely to ever happen, but would be interesting.

I like the idea of putting players back into the pool and being able to pick them up. We would have to have active owners so the redraft could go smoothly. With more Thursday and Saturday games, owners would have to be on top of their game. Time differences would really play hell on the draft, but you could always e-mail potential draft picks.

I also think we should be able to pick up those dropped players from the other teams. If someone picks up LT for instance and has to drop say Fitzgerald, Fitz should be up for grabs as well. Would make it a lot more interesting every week with redrafting. This could really make bubble teams have a chance once again. Would really suck to get bumped out early and watch your team get pillaged though, but that is what you get if you draft a poor team.

Don't be so hard on the Beaver Shak. I like to change things up a tiny bit, just a little leary of drafting players, this was supposed to be a simple format with the goal of a hands off approach once the draft was over...now i'm game for anything really, but lets keep this in mind, most of the guys playing are extremely busy and have a limited amount of free-time. Hince only about 5-7 players have showed much interest in this league anyhow, I hope next year we have a few more active owners especially if we make a few changes which might require you checking this site a little more often.

Dumb...no, not dumb..just say you dont like it or maybe to hard for you to understand. Anyway, I think we could try it as a side league, and free since we dont know how it will work or if it will work. The hardest thing would be setting up the time table for people to draft every week...like I said before, I like the current format and dont want to change it...my idea would be to drastic.
Im not the smartest man in the world, but a reason that this board is only being used by like 5 people is likely due to the fact that it is handsoff after the draft is done..so there is nothing to do but watch. So maybe a pool would bring more life into a side league.

Who knew Barry Sanders was not only bluffing for a bigger contract? Im still not over the "have to wear pants" rule that was put out last year. I agree that Trash has had a heck of a run this year and looks good to win both leagues. Wow.

Budman not that matters but I'm rooting for you too. It's like a chance to see somebody win the Triple Crown, or in this case the "Double Crown".

Check my math!

WP
Trash -- 111 + 72 = 183
Harmon -- 71 + 78 + 149
TB -- 53 + 54 = 107

RW
Shak -- 68 + 101 = 169
Trash -- 84 + 77 = 161
Terry Tate -- 73 + 63 = 136

I guess it was time Shak daddy won one of these leagues after all the hard work each season. Congrats to Trash for having an outstanding season in both leagues. I enjoyed it as always, looking forward to another Survivor next year...hopefully we get a few more participants.

I guess the Survivors Champ club members have increased to Ednecks, STB, Surperclyde, Trashman and Shak...No Joe you havn't joined the party.

Congrats Shak and TrashHauler! Well deserved victories for both teams. Congratulations to all the semi-finalists as well, it's no easy feat to make it to the big dance. Happy New Year! Looking forward to Survivor 2007 already.

I was thinking of a survivor league for baseball. We'd need 26 team owners (I think there are approx. 26 weeks in the season). Same basic rules. Everyone could draft 1 line-up: C, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, 3 X OF, A SP AND A RP.

Thoughts, discussion, limitations, etc.?

Scott and Tim,

If you guys could change your addresses in the WOF league, it would be appreciated. There has already been some traffic going on and don't want to see you guys miss out. Check out the past messages on the board as well, some good info there.

What no one going to do the Challenge this year? Myself and at least one other person are willing to play. Anyone researching any sites that will tally scores?

I'm in on the Playoff challendge, I'd help but I'd really not want to work the spreadsheet this year. I think If your going to get it rolling and recieve starting lineups by Saturday then somebody should take the bull by the horns..I'm having my defibulator battery changed out in the next few days, so I really don't want to run anything..just in case. Let me know and I'll post a lineup.

I don't mind running it, but I will insist on entering two teams.

If Shak gets two teams then so do I...He He. I think we should limit it to a 2 team max, just so JHHH does't buy 99 because he has money to burn!

I will buy the max number of teams allowed....I can create all kinds of lineup variations. I don't think it will improve my chances though.

I sent Shak and Mike my lineups just in case this actually happens..I have 2 teams, hopefully we don't have a slug fest like last year...plus double the Edneck is all you boys can handle.

I believe we e-mailed them, but I don't see why we can't post them.

Jim, if you could, set up another thread with the rules, lineups, cost etc.

I will try and drum up enough business on this side in the one day left to get as many players as possible.
