Sarge over Vicarious D, 123.12 to 80.76. Coles and M Barber posted outstanding games to lead Sarges team, while L Betts, T Jones and B Edwards did all they could to help Vicarious squad.

Frick juuuuuuuuust eaked out a win over Jackhammers 101.28 to 101.18. L Tomlinson and the SD D led the way for Frick, while P Manning and B Westbrook carried Jackhammers to within 1 yd of offense from a tie.

Championship Game: Frick vs Sarge next week.

It's remarkable that a game could be that close in the playoffs. JackHammers, that's a tough break there.

Before the Monday night game, I was nervous. To say that I was amazed that I manged to pull of a win doesn't begin to describe it.

I don't like my match-up with Sarge this week, a quick glance through the games makes me hesitant to think I can win. My players have, in general, more difficult match-ups.

I don't care for Pennington's match-up, but Carr's absolute drop into suckitude is depressing. I heard on ESPN the other day that he has 7 INTs vs 1 TD in his last couple of weeks.

Yep, they don't get much tougher than that. I just had to roll my eyes when I saw that final score. UnFRICKen-believable. Congrats guys, good luck, and see you next year.

Understand your contention there Frick, but overcoming the duo of Ladanian Tomlinson AND Larry Johnson, is a deep hole to have to dig oneself out of.

Like I posted in the "smack talk". It'll be interesting to see if my "balanced" squad, can overcome your "Runningbacks R Us" squad. :)

Congrats to everyone. This is probably one of the leagues that I enjoy the most. While in season activity is less, the draft is by far the most enjoyable. I'm trying to get some of my college friends together next year to do a live auction.

I have some thoughts on what could possibly done to improve in season transactions.

I think that we decided that having mini auctions each week would to tough to administrate, but if we posted a deadline, say noon on Thursday (maybe noon on Wednesday for weeks with Thursday games). That would allow time for the winners to be determined, money available, valid bids, etc... I think that would allow enough time to complete the transactions and hopefully keep weekly activity minimal, but everyone interested.

Frick - congratulations, outstanding job all season. the 2-headed-monster strategy payed off. I see a few managers trying to use that strategy next year. high risk - high reward.

sarge - thanks for commishing. too bad you had a real stinker last week, but that happens in fantasy football.

see you all next year.

Congrats Frick - great execution of your strategy and it's well
deserved. I fear to see how much the top RBs will go for next
season. :)

The deadline idea is a good one and sounds like the best way to
administer free agent auctions.

laid an egg this past week, thats for sure. Again Frick, congrats. You spent a wad of your budget on 2 guys, rolled the dice, and damned if you didnt toss a "7" with 'em!

We need to work out the few remaining "kinks", to smotth things as much as possible. That absolutely requires input/participation form the various league managers! Please do not be shy about expressing your views. My skin is thick, and I long ago ceased taking personal umbrage over constructive criticisms.

I tried a similar strategy last year and had similar results, well except that YR knocked me out in the first round of the play-offs.

It is definately not a strategy to use if you aren't ready to deal with 3rd and 4th tier guys in most of your other slots. I got extremely lucky with SD for a D and Carr and Pennington alternating periods of suck.

The strategy was also more viable due to the fact that both LJ and LDT had their byes on the same week.

Any thoughts on the mini auctions each week for FA?

It could be a combination is possible also. If you have a player get injured you can use the injury clause to grab a player for a set price ($5) and know that you are going to get him. That has to be done by say midnight Tuesday. The mini-auction starts immediately after that and $1 can be the opening bid.

If you use the injury clause, you can put the injured player on the IR slot. If you get a player via the auction, you have to drop a player. The current rules could still apply (1/2 of the salary back through week 6, after than nothing), but the player you drop wouldn't clear "waivers" until the following week. Theoretically you could drop a player, get a sub and get the original player back for another $1, which might net you some cash. I wouldn't have a problem with that strategy, because it is also possible that another manager could outbid you for that player, with the condensed bye weeks this gets intruging.

Speaking of bye weeks, would it make more sense to have the refund cut-off sync to the last of the bye weeks or the following week. Bye weeks this year were much more condensed than previously, so it might be possible.

I apologize for the rambling incoherent nature of the post. I have people coming in and out of my office and I'm supposed to be working today.

I kinda like that idea Frick. (The one allowing through Tue to claim "injury priority" and then open bidding for F/A afterward.)

I am still very much "up in the air", over the notion of granting extra monies specifically for Free Agency acquisitions. YR won the league last year, in no small part through "smart" money management. I tried to keep for my part, money back for F/A's and was reasonably able to do so. Swapping out A Green in wk 5 for M Barber (I got $5 back from Green and spent it on Barber), was probably my "best" move until McNabb went down and Romo was available. (Only reason we have any available depth in F/A, is because it costs money to get a F/A, so managers are loath to sign someone just to make sure someone else doesnt/cant.)

I for one, really think the $200 initial budget, and needing to manager that budget through the year, is one of the things that makes this league so "unique". To "add" to that budget, is IMHO, self defeating from the intended nature of the league. Also, with a fixed budget, the strategy of bidding up players oyu dont want but you firmly believe someone else does, is viable. If all are to get their 200 and then say 25 more at auctions end....it makes things far less interesting I think, re the bidding process as well as the money management aspect.

I do like the idea of bidding on F/As though. The only problem with it that I can see, is the short time available and the possibility of manager(s) temporarily losing i-net access and thus not being able to bid. (Job time and such could preclude certain managers, as well as the fact that YR is 1/2 way around the globe from the rest of us and the time differences could get in the way.)

Its all open to discussion though, and its all good. :)

I would be very opposed to the idea that we had a seperate pool of money for FA after the season started. I went through 95% of the auction with less than $3 per player to bid with. 46-48 hours I think is enough time for at least get an initial bid in. The tought part to manage would be what happens if a manager bids on a TE, loses, but would have bid on a 2nd TE to have a bye week covered?

Hmmm, one option that I can think of is to make bids a one time shot and have multiple times. On Wednesday you post your bid or send it to a designated party if we went to a blind bid system. After 24 hours (noon to noon or 9PM to 9PM) players are awarded and another set of players can be bid on.

Another possibly simipler answer would be to look for an alternite site than Yahoo. Yahoo is great in many regards, but doesn't have some of the features/flexability that we might like/need

On a side note I'll put up a line that the O/U on LDT next is $80.
