Subject: 2007 Rotoguru Auction League MOCK DRAFT

Welcome all!
OK, the players I am naming to the board, are taken from an online "expert draft" of 14 managers. I will be naming their 2.2, 5.2, 8.2, 11.2,14.2, 1.3,4.3,7.3,10,13.3, 3.4 and 6.4 picks.
Bidding Hours:
The bid clock will be suspended between the hours of midnight and 8 am eastern. (as indicated by the rotoguru timestamp.) The bid clock will further be suspended from 8 pm Fri until 8 am Mon. (This is for the purposes of marital maintenance/bliss etc etc.)
A player in this mock draft, will be deemed "won", after 6 hours of inactivity on the bid clock. (In the regular auction, it will be 8 hours.)
Roster Requirements:
For purposes of the mock, we will be drafting fewer positions than in the actual auction. Where our seasonal roster will consist of 10 starters plus 5 bench players, for the mock we will be using a reduced roster of 8 starters and 3 bench players. The positions to be signed are:
1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 K and 1 D plus 3 Bench players of any position(s).
Salary cap:
For purposes of the mock draft, all managers will have $100 total available. The regular draft, each manager would have $200 for their seasonal salary cap.
Illegal Bids:
Bidding beyond your salary cap, or in violation of the roster requirements, will for the mock result in a nullifying of the offending bid(s) and a fine of $3 for each such bid(s). (For the regular auction, the fine(s) would be $5 for every bid(s).)
I will name the players to the board at approx 6pm eastern tonight. If there are ANY questions, NOW is the time to ask gentlemen!!! |

Suspended clock question: I assume we can, if desired, stil; make bids during off hours/weekends, and the clock is just to make sure those with lives don;t HAVE to check in?

Absolutely you can still bid. And the clock on your bid begins when the clock restarts. Bids can be submitted at anytime UNLESS, someone calls for a contestment. (Which reminds me...)
I may at times miss a bid which was submitted, and "award" a player to the wrong manager. In the past, I have allowed 15 minutes from the time I post that Player "A" has been won by *Manager X*, for anyone to point out a bid which would negate that awarding. IF a manager points out such a missed bid...I may temporarily suspend the clock, while I sort out what occured. During those impromptu suspensions, I normally ask that folks refrain from bidding. They dont generally last more than 5-10 minutes and the purpose is simply to make things right.

I believe those bids are indicated correctly. Bid clock starts at 8:00am eastern t6oday. 6 hours with no further bid activity, will result in that players being "won". The winning manager in those cases, will name a replacement player to the board, such naming automatically including a $1 bid BY that naming manager, for that player.

How far are you planning on taking the draft Sarge? I'm only planning making an occasional bid for two reasons. 1. I don't want to give away my strategy for the real draft. 2. Umm, I don't have a strategy since I haven't done any research. Just thought I would throw that out tehre.

Not sure on that count Wolfer. The idea behind it, was to make it more difficult for me to "miss bids", yet I still did. So it strikes me that it failed in its intention. Thus, I question the validity of "requiring" it.

just to let everybody know:
- I am following the draft
- I am not prepared yet (that will change until Friday)
- altough I am not prepared I think that all current bids are too high for a 100$, 11 player draft. thats the reason why I wait a bit and try to get the "cheaper" ones later.

Ok lesson learned. Uhm I guess now that it's 15 mintues after I'll just say that those are my bids named to the board :-/
I guess I am just really excited about football season. My basketball team in my friends league struggled and was a bottom of the pack team all year and now my baseball team is doing the same thing. I guess those teams were just following the lead of my RIFC AAA2 team of losing 3 straight games to limp into the playoffs. Lets hope I can rally the troops and not pull another Coughlin.
