Hmm -- queues are getting emptied as the pickers pick...makes it
look like the picks are "good" ones...

According to messages, JH will be back at ~6 and his short queue is
empty now -- so there will most likely be a wait after psychos picks
again.

I just noticed that the clock on the kafenatid home page is an hour
off. It says 10:59 pm when it is actually 11:59 EDT.

Hmm. I believe it was correct (ie., matched EDT) on the other days.

Hmm it paused us at 11:00, which is 12:00 EDT, which is correct. I
guess it is set to CDT time?

GURU any thoughts about that?

Since the clock paused at midnight our time, I will assume that all
is well. It is just weird. They do not put a time zone on it...

I am out today ~12 - 3 and again at ~3:30 - 7:00 so pick others as
your DP.

Also, strong cold front coming through with thunderboomers

With just a few exceptions, our draft is moving along quite
nicely. People are checking the thread, leaving messages about
potential delays, and using DP's to pick for them.

However, those exceptions are really slowing us down. We have
people waiting a long time to make picks.

GURU expects:

"A note on drafting etiquette/protocol:

Once your draft has started, it is appropriate to pick when your
turn has come and you are aware of it. If you need some time to
do some last minute research, that is OK. But it is not
appropriate to wait an inordinate amount of time..."

I would like to propose that beginning on Monday at 6 am, we
reduce the time limt to 5 hours.

Please let me know your thoughts on this.

I don't see much of a reason to change the clock time yet. For the most part we are moving pretty quick and should only change the clock time in the later rounds or if we all of a sudden run into a situation where it doesn't look like we'll get done on time. I only know of once so far that someone took an extremely long time researching a pick (come on, it doesn't take that long), the rest of the longer picks are most likely from people not having computer access or not knowing they're up.

We're moving along pretty well, way ahead of the other leagues, so I see no reason to change it yet.

Also, if someone does happen to time out for two straight picks, we're supposed to give them the top 2 players on the board. I don't remember if this happens once it gets to their 3rd pick in a row or directly after they time out the 2nd time. I do know that Guru had mentioned this a year or two ago, however.

I was just sitting this weekend waiting for a pick a little bit in front of me, and I was wondering if the person was even around, or aware I (and maybe others) were waiting on that pick, when I had a probably stupid brain short circuit. I was wondering whether someone with free long distance calling could check on the next few drafters and spred the word in this thread. It seems to me that the people we wait longest on do not leave recent threads. I checked several times. This is way to erratic time wise.

Yeh I know we are way ahead of schedule, but I need to prepare for a huge fireworks show this Saturday night. No smoking in my garage.

Davepyro -- I have been emailing peole to let them know the
progress of the draft and when they might be up. So the "pyro"
is for real! Also, we actually might be finished with the draft by
the weekend. The last 4 rounds or so are generally fillers --not
people meant to help out in games...

Wolfer -- 7-12 inches! you must be in Texas? Hopefully
nothing of yours was damaged.

I have to leave within the next 20 minutes and I'll be gone for a few hours (have to go on location for a job). Unless a bunch of picks fly off the board before then, I don't really see me leaving a queue as the previous picks in the round will play a large factor on who I choose. I can't really say what time I'll be back, although it should be no later than 5-6pm EST I would think. So sorry in advance for possibly holding up the draft. I don't feel too bad however, since most of my picks have been made in under 10 minutes :D

I was checking him and some other undrafted players.

AOL says DL, real-life says OLB.

I wouldn't have drafted him if AOL didn't give him DL eligibility.

Kind of like Glaus being available @ SS this year in MLB, etc.

Same as last night, I'll be checking every 20 min or so to make DP
picks or send email reminders. (I get lots of exercise running up
and down the stairs!) WIll try to make it to midnight today -- took
a nap so that should help!

If you do have timing issues, please post them here so we know
what's up.

If not, be aware that you will be on the clock early tomorrow
morning. I'll be up at 6:30, leaving at 7:30, back by 11 to punch
in any Q's.

We got far today -- I'd like to get just as far tomorrow -- up to
round 14. So if everyone could check in every 3 hours or so, or
leave a Q, that would be GREAT!

Guru's position is that you get only 6 hours if you are at the corner. That has been followed by every RIFC/RIBC league I know of except the one I ran -- AAA baseball, a few years ago, where I gave those at the corner 12 hours. A matter of justice and symmetry.

I think the strong majority of players are in favour of 6 hours.
