13.03 Patrick Willis, LB, SF
Willis, a first-team All-American and the most outstanding linebacker in college football last year, ran a 4.37 40-yard dash at his pro day, mind boggling for a LB.
It has also been reported that Willis will start and play on the inside in HC Mike Nolan's scheme. He will also remain on the field in all situations. Nolan's scheme has produced huge tackle numbers from inside backers Donnie Edwards, Ray Lewis and Keith Brooking. Willis has the talent to replicate the tackle numbers of those great players.

13.05 Brett Favre, QB, GB
I decided I didn't want an IDP with this pick and looked around and made the decision to go ahead and pick up my backup QB. Favre was the selection based on his drive & durablility more than anything else. He never gives up and will play until his arms & legs fall off. I'm not sure if he's stop even then. For a backup, that's all you can ask.
I've seen very good teams experience problems later on in the year when they've lost their starting QB due to injury for even a few weeks and I think I've covered that one with Favre. He's the definition of durability as far as quarterbacks go in the NFL. Now about 4 TDs & 300 yds during the weeks I need him will be just fine. ;)

13.06 DeMarcus Ware, LB, DAL
I had Andra Davis queued up here and then decided to take one more look at my LB options here. Ware really stood out and is less of a health risk than Davis too boot. I was concerned that in a league with more than a couple of Dallas fans for Ware to still be available that there were injury issues or other bad news. I checked for any news and he came back with all good reports.

After having reach in round 6 (NE def) 9 (QB Cutler) and 12 (TE Miller) i consider having real good value in Bennett in round 13. I needed a 4th good WR in order to cover for injuries and BYE weeks. Even though he is considered WR3 in St-Louis, Bennett is a red zone target and Bulger should spread enough pass to make him worthy of being an almost every week starter. He could also be a factor during the playoff where he will play 3 indoor games in december. I'll be happy with 800 yds 6TD

13.09 Bob Sanders, DB, IND
This guy may be the most underrated DB in all of the so-called experts lists. When healthy (and he finally seems to be there now) he dominates.
The Colts D was actually built for him. Obviously he can't do it by himslef, but it's no wonder the Colts D finally responded when he came back at the end of last year and the playoffs run. He is so quick that he comes up to stop the run. He flies all over the field, INTs, PDs and incredibly strong and mentally tough. I almost took him a lot earlier, but just had a feeling that people would go with their lists and stay away from him. I kept asking myself how long do I wait. I finally decided I'd target him here no matter who else stood out or what news came out on anyone. Time will tell if his numbers will meet my expectations.

| 13.10 Reuben Droughns, RB, NYG
I didn't plan on adding another RB here, but Droughns looked like a good option. I have some doubts about Brandon Jacobs being an every-down back, as he's a bit unproven. His style of running also makes him more susceptible to injuries than most RBs. So I expect Droughns to still get a pretty good share of the carries.

13.12 Antoine Winfield, DB, MIN
It's at that time of the draft where I feel like I can go in any direction to get some back-ups or fill out my remaining starters. I'm just looking for the most value by position. Having to start 1 each LB, DB, DL, and three flex IDP I've always felt it's nice to have a couple solid DB not only in case of injury or poor performance but to assist with bye weeks. Winfield was one of the top DB scorers from last year and I'm hoping to get similar production. I noticed that jtserb took one of my planned later round picks in James Jones this round. That is going to change up my later round strategy seeing how I need to find another 4th and 5th WR.

13.14 Gibril Wilson, DB, NYG I put off taking any IDP until late in the draft and am very happy that one of the top DBs is still here for the taking. No regrets waiting. 14.01 James Farrior, LB, PIT Very solid linebacker. Not the best but will certainly put up respectable numbers. Considered Andra Davis here but didn't like his injury history.

14.02 Derrick Johnson, LB, KC
I reached on this pick. Willis was #1 on my queue , but he was taken a few picks before I came up in the 13th round. I then thought I would definitely get Farrior. 'Cards ended up taking him and that left me scrambling. I do like DJ, but he might have slid further. I like his athletic ability and hope he can get settled into the roll at strong side backer. We shall see. |

14.03 Rex Grossman, QB, CHI
I had Jake Delhomme at the top of my queue and felt fairly strongly that this is where I needed to draft a back-up QB. I'm quite happy with Leinart as my starter, but I wanted to cover his bye week and have some insurance. Rex started off hot last year and then made some mistakes. I like how Lovie Smith stuck by him and think he can only show improvement this year. I was slightly concerned that if the Panthers suck, more importantly if Jake sucks, that they have a pretty good 2nd option on the bench. Honestly, I didn't want to think too deeply about this, but did look at the week 8 match-ups and like Chicago's better. Chicago also has a favorable schedule at the end of the season. Other players considered were Terrell Suggs and Freddy Keiaho.

He was taken as a bye week/injury replacement. Came back from his injury with some decent numbers--passing for 3,352 yards, 17 touchdowns. I think he's keeping the seat warm, but he is still the starter so could still be servicable in a pinch.

Having Cutler as a 1st QB, i needed to invest in a back-up. Cutler will have a though schedule and i needed a 2nd QB (and possibly a 3rd) that could fill in for those hard match-up. Schaub also has a tough schedule vs Pass, but the match-ups fits in well with Cutler's . Decent value in round 14.

14.10 Kevin Curtis, WR, PHI
I drafted Kevin as a 5th WR at this point primarilly as the best offensive potential at his position IMO who was still available. He has the speed to go deep and playing with McNabb who loves to throw the ball, I think he'll have the opportunity to catch a lot of ball & score TDs.
I expect to receive more value at this pick than a DL or DB which is what I was considering otherwise. There is still too many "tackle" LB's out there to miss out on an offensive player with this much upside, especially when you start 3 WR in this league.

Suggs is 24 years old and yet has logged 40 sacks over his four NFL seasons. He also puts up adequate tackle numbers and can make big plays, evidenced by six forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, two INTs and twelve passes defended in the last two seasons.
He was in my second tier of DLs, I did not see him lasting much longer on the board and with little else jumping out at me at this time, I decided to fill an existing starting slot and select an elite DL.

At 6' 4" and 230 lbs, Marshall is a beast with speed, whose size alone should make him an option in the red-zone. And with his skill set, hopefully he is the second option of the Broncos passing game.
IMO, this as a high-upside pick (extreme value in the 15th round) that could pay huge dividends.

I decided on Takeo at this point because I wanted a LB who's going to score points for sacks and int. as well as tackles. He's moving to Philly from Buffalo and I think he's still feels he has a lot to prove to himself and his fans. Motivation is a great factor for a linebacker and the fans in Philidelphia are a great factor in pumping you up on defense. I look for a great season from Takeo playing outside in the 4-3.

This turned out to be a whim pick. Some receivers that I planned on grabbing, I'd passed on earlier or they were taken before I got to them. I know Ginn is not currently listed as the #2 WR, but he should get some action as a third WR along with kick returns and could eventually earn that #2 role. Really, there is no veteran receiver left that is going to have a bigger season than he's ever had/one that outperforms most of the people already drafted. If there is, it's a luck pick anyway. You pretty much know what you are going to get from most of those. The 15th round is a good time to look at potential.

16.03 Freddy Keiaho, LB, IND
I came into the draft high on this kid, but assumed he would go higher than I was willing to gamble. He was still around in the 14th and I almost snagged him, but at that time only 12 DB and 26 LB had been drafted (2 each by me) so I decided that back-up QB was more important for my team and figured with Ref in the league he would never back it back down to me. For all the IDP research and planning we do, only a few score in that 130-140 range or greater while most of the ones drafted score in that 110-120 range or lower. Truthfully, I came very close to passing on him again with some great DL value still on the board. I rolled the dice on potential one more time. There have been some great scoring linebackers from the Will position in the Tampa 2 defense and I hope I got a gem in the 16th.

16.06 Kamerion Wimbley, LB, CLE
I'm suprised I picked this guy. Thruth is that Keiwhosyourdaddyaholualua was my pick all the way. Wanted him last pick but gambled that he would be there on the way back. My entire Q was pickd clean again, but had my heart set on Freddy. When he was gone and my other IDPs and WRs were picked, I went searching again. I found Wimbley. He didn't show up on a lot of charts even so this was probably a huge reach, but he was drafted very high by the Browns last year and has huge upside. He had a stellar rookie season last year with 11 sacks. He also added 62 tackles and forced a fumble. Wimbley plays OLB, but he's among one of the best at rushing the QB.
I am hoping that with him playing for a Bad D that he will be in line for a lot of tackles this year--esp. since he has a year of experience under his belt.
Truth be told, I probably could have gotten him a lot later--but if he could still turn out to be a great pick. I didn't check his bye week first and there is a conflict but I wanted to add another DB later in the draft anyhow.

I kinda regreted this pick after i took him. Not that he is not good value in round 16, he was top RB on my chart and plays on a run offense facing easy run schedule. 4.3 yds/rush last year with 8 TD. You never know what can happend in Denver and Bell could be valuable later in the year especially if Henry struggle in goaline situation. I said i regreted this pick not because of value, more because of my team needs. I had Matt Jones (16.02) targeted for this pick. Some1 took Sapp 17.04 so maybe Bell wouldn't have lasted any longer.

For a couple of years, Williams has been very valuable to the Broncos defense. However, he has not been even an acceptable IDP option, as he played on the 'strong side'. I consider Williams to be an acceptable IDP option this year. Matter of factly, I believe that he could "breakout" this year and post top 10 fantasy stats at LB.
What changed this offseason? The Broncos brought in a new defensive coordinator - Jim Bates. For his part, Bates runs a 4-3 defensive scheme designed to funnel plays to the middle of the field. As a consequence, in this scheme, MLBs have the premiere opportunity to rack up tackles, see Zach Thomas of the Dolphins. In addition, the Broncos released their veteran MLB and Williams is supposed to assume this playmaking position in Bates' scheme.

Daniels finished his rookie season last year as the 14th ranked TE despite playing in only 14 games. That success with [undrafted QB] demonstrated that he is an option in the passing attack. The Texans did little this offseason to add a viable second threat at WR (after Andre Johnson). In these circumstances, I expect that new Texans QB Matt Schaub will make use of Daniels (much as Schaub made use of TE Alge Crumpler when he was given the chance to play in Atlanta).

17.05 Daunte Culpepper, QB, OAK
Drafting Daunte as a #3 QB here was purely a precaution. Although not guaranteed the starting job, Daunte has looked sharp & fairly mobile in the preseason and has a very good shot at the job especially since the holdout of their #1 draft pick appears to be heading into the regular season.
If that happens, the rookie is probably lost for the season and the job's going to go to Daunte or the other contender, and I like Daunte's chances of taking the job in that event.
I tried not to mention any undrafted players by name in this rationale. ;)

This guy is one of the more underated WRs with HUGE upside. A Deep threat if McNair can throw it far enough to get it to him. Edward Lee, of the Baltimore Sun, seems to think Williams is poised to "blow up" this year. Williams has been impressing coaches this offseason and could eventually take Derrick Mason's starting gig.

17.10 Seattle Seahawks, DEF, SEA
I really waited too long on team defenses, so I'm not really expecting much here. Chances are I'm going to draft another Team D or maybe 2 in the upcoming rounds so I can get more flexibilty in taking advantage of matchups.

17.11 Oshiomogho Atogwe, DB, STL
Just needed to round out the IDPs with a few picks here, he should be a solid (though not studly) contributor, which is all I was looking for here.

17.12 Osi Umenyiora, DL, NYG
He's been near the top of my queue for a while and it's a starting position I need. I almost snagged him last round, but decided LB was more important. He was hurt and missed 4-5 games last year, but the year before he was a beast with 70 or so tackles and a dozen-ish sacks. I'm hoping he returns to form and scores like 8000 points from the DL position.

17.13 Jon Beason, LB, CAR
Beason was a beast at the U. Plain and simple. He is undersized for the position, but his character overcomes alot of that. Everyone is talking about Patrick Willis, but can't forget about Beason.

17.14 Lorenzo Booker, RB, MIA
Don't trust Ronnie Brown so I'm taking every possible option at RB in Miami. Not that having a RB from Miami is worth having to begin with, but that is what I have nonetheless so have to make do. Booker could get some late season yardage.
18.01 Greg Olsen, TE, CHI I already have McMichael but the Rams typically haven't utilized their TE so when I saw a breakout candidate like Olsen available I decided to take him as insurance at an already weak position. If Olsen does become a weapon for the Bears he could pay dividends.

For Pete 18.02 Tarvaris Jackson, QB, MIN
I'm essentially hoping one of Jackson or Campbell pans at as a backup for me. I don't plan on carrying 3 QBs all year and will do some analysis the first few weeks of the season to see who earns the backup spot. Jackson is being touted as a dual-threat. I was shocked when the Vikings took him so high, but I'll bank on them knowing what they were doing.

18.03 Charles Woodson, DB, GNB
This is supposed to be our last rationale, but I am going to keep doing them anyway. I am slightly obsessive compulsive and I find that typing these out do make my selections easier when I'm trying to decide between players. I blame that on Guru.
Why Charles Woodson? Am I a fan of his? I did own his jersey, but it was Silver and Black. I used to be a big fan, but he really did represent all that was wrong with current player attitude on the Raiders. I wasn't sad to see him and his large contract, large ego, and declining production leave Oaktown. BUT, he got healthy and did okay for the Packers. I don't have Woodson in my queue or in my sites, but I don't feel real excited about anyone else currently preselected. When I was adding players to my roster at the AOL site I noticed that Woodson scored 154.20 points in this format last year. Must be some punt returns. His bye week fits into my IDP slot so on a whim, welcome to my fantasy football roster.

Same as previous round, not an exciting pick, but another flex IDP I can plug-n-play.

18.05 Eddie Kennison, WR, KAN
Eddie Kennison's numbers are never jaw-dropping. But as my 5th WR, I'm really glad to have him on my roster. The veteran may find a way into my starting lineup if he manages to do what he did last year.

18.06 Sean Taylor, DB, WAS
With a need of another Flex IDP, I looked at my options and saw that Taylor was still there. He's a #1 DB albeit lower-end, so I nabbed him.
Taylor led the Redskins in total tackles last year with 111, adding one interception and six passes defensed. Considering that his other stats were down compared to previous seasons, Taylor should have nowhere to go but up. The only hitch is that he's not likely to get another 100 tackles in 2007 with the Redskins adding London Fletcher-Baker to the middle of their defense.

18.07 Trent Green, QB, MIA
QB has been one of my weaknesses in the past 2 years... and i'm trying to address that. Playing match-ups with QB doesn't sound so bad if the schedule works well between your picks. I have now 3 QB to work with Cutler, Schaub and Green. I wouldn't be surprise if Green gets the most starts. If he gets good chemistry with his OC and WR, along with a good RB to anchor the offense, Green could be a pleasant surprise.

18.10 Michael Lewis, DB, SFO
Michael was a matter of the best rated DB at this point in the draft. He should have plenty of opportunities to make plays in an improved, but porous SF defense. I was happy to see him fall to me with this pick. There should be plenty of balls thrown at the Sf secondary this season and he'll have his opportunities to intercept a few.

18.12 LaRon Landry, DB, WAS
"Runs like a deer and hits like a truck", so said one announcer this preseason about Landry. 'Nuff said'. Seriously though, DC Gregg Williams has stated that Landry will move up close to the line of scrimmage in run support while FS Sean Taylor assumes most of the deep-coverage responsibilities in the Redskins' secondary (This is probably due to the fact that Landry is a rookie), although with Landry and Taylor's skill set, the two could very well be interchangeable in Williams' scheme. I'm hoping that the tackles Landry makes in run support make him a viable option at DB.
