1) I like my chances. Figure on starting Green/Cutler at QB. Green is the question mark here but he has a history of performing well even w/o an abundance of quality rcvrs. My RBs are both top 5-7 picks in virtually every draft out there. Gotta like the potential from the two of them for both yards and TDs. WRs, I may be hurting a bit for awhile. Ward is always solid, but Driver suffered a ft injury last week. Something of a question there. Chris Henry wont be available until week 9, but if he comes on and does well, he could find himself as a keeper for next year.
2) My pick of Cutler in rd 6 and dwffans getting M Turnewr in rd 10. Turner is a free agent next year, and I see him as a starter in almost any city other than SD. Solid selection that late in the draft.
3)I took 3 of these "longshot sleepers": Z Miller TE Oak, L Booker RB Miami and A Rodgers QB GB. Of the 3, Booker is probably the least likely to panout. Favre HAS to be done after this season (he's eligible for Social Security next year isnt he?), and Rodgers is the heir apparent in GB which makes him a potential keeper along with Cutler at QB for next year. Miller, was a bye week replacement who from what I have seen/read/heard...looks promising.
4) Sorry Barilko, but A Peterson in rd 6 was a reach IMHO. Especiallym when M Lynch still on the board. Possibly in the longrun, Peterson will do more, but Lynch will have the bigger yr this season and next I think.
5) I like Frick, Stray Doug, Golf and myself frankly. (In no particular order.) There are your "4 to beat" aka playoff teams. :)

My strategy this year was to stack up on RB's and QB's that have starting jobs. Last year I got burned with some of my choices, and this year it looks like I have a lot of high risk picks as well.
I had a hard time with the first pick overall, flipping between Adrian Peterson, Marshawn Lynch, and Jay Cutler. I ended up going with AP based on highest ceiling factor.
Favorite Picks: Jerious Norwood in 8th round. Sad to say, that might be the only one! haha
Reaches Now that I look over my team, I have a ton of reaches. A lot of players I was looking at came off the board just before I was hoping to get them. I hope JaMarcus starts sometime this year, as well as Michael Bush.
Teams to Beat:
Will just say something about every team here (remembering all this insight is coming from the last place manager)
Sarge: If Tavaris has a decent season, Sarge has some players that could push him up in the standings a little. Jackson and Westbrook together will equal some wins. Having 2 TEs and 2 Kickers really hurts flexibility though. Unfortunately, I would say Sarge would be fighting hard to get into the top half of the standings.
JTSerb: Has 2 nice QB's, but is giving up 2 weeks without having a third QB to cover off byes, as they don't share the same bye week. RB's could be shaky, as there are 4 guys with some big question marks on their backs. That being said I like Tatum a lot, Lynch has no competition for the job, and Benson is handcuffed with Peterson. WR's are extremely solid, and hold good trade value to help fill holes at QB. Prediction: Bottom half of standings, unless a third QB is added.
Wiggs: Like last year, has the cream of the crop when it comes to WR. When looking at the QBs though, I flinch a little. Has a great collection of RBs though, so with the power at RB and WR, maybe that can help make up for the QB weakness. Also really like Vernon Davis at the TE spot. Will stay in the top half of the standings, and challenge for a playoff spot if one of either Pennington or Grossman has a decent season.
Chuck Taylor: My favorite collection of QB's from any team, other than my own of course! Hasselback will have a great comeback year I think, and Carson is always solid. Garcia is a Gruden type of guy and should put up solid bye week numbers when needed. Questions with RBs and WR's will hold this team down to the lower half of the season, unless Jones and Jackson step up and claim the undisputed RB chair on their respective teams.
Electroman: Nice collection of players across the board. If Culpepper can keep a starting job and play close to his preseason stats, if Alex Smith can continue last year's improvements, this team has enough pieces to move into the playoffs. A lot hinges on the RB Williams Boys to assert themselves as bonafide number one guys though. WR crop is above average. A playoff contender.
Frick: Nice set of players across the board. Solid 3 QBs, good collection of RBs, and both skill and potential at the WR slots. If Ronnie Brown can bounce back from last year's season, there is a lot to like about seeing this team in the Championship Finals come year end.
Promize: Needs one of his RBs to step up and get some stats. James and Jordan were disappointments last season, and need to bounce back for this team to have a chance. Ahman also needs to get his numbers. Has QB weakness, with no third guy to help cover off differing Bye weeks, which hurts bad in two weeks of the standings. Also handicapping his team with two kickers and two tight ends. Unless a third QB is added, this team will find itself lower in the standings as well.
RusselDL: A solid top 2 QB combo, with hopes that Croyle is starting by week 9 to cover off the two late season byes, which is very possible. Not sure if there is enough depth at either RB or WR though, with a lot of flexibility lost on extra slots used for QB, TE, and defense. A middle of the pack team, that could jump up depending on the RB's and the KC QB situation.
Doug: Solid players across the board, helped by handcuffing his biggest question mark, the Jacksonville QB situation. A good collection of RBs, WRs, and QB's will see this team in the Playoffs. If Calvin produces as advertised, might challenge for the best set of WRs in the league.
Golf: Got good value late on QB's, but is it enough to carry this team? Farve is always a good fantasy option, especially being in the same division as Detroit and Minny. Any team with LT is always worthy of playoff mention, and with Rudi and Brandon Jackson helping, this team will be solid yet again. If Huard or Schaub hold up, then this team will be there fighting for the championship.
Fighting Seabees: Qb situation is scary. Harrington has another shot, but trouble follows him everywhere it seems! From crappy Detroit, to Marijuana Miami Williams, and now Dogtown Vick, hopefully he can put things together. Delhomme is nicely handcuffed by Carr, but unless Clemons steps up earlier than expected, there is a hole here. Nice collection of underrated WRs to go with solid RBs will see the Seabees in the top half, but not in the playoffs unless a nice waiver acquisition is made.
Barilko: Of course I have to slam my team too! My QB collection is nice, but they all share the same bye week, so week 6 is a write off unless a trade is made. Never rule out a trade! If JaMarcus takes the reins early on, I have 4 great options to plug in any week, depending on matchups. I like my RBs, so long as AP gets the touches and stays healthy. McGahee has sucked this preseason, and I hope he can get going. Have some potential with Norwood, M. Bush and Henry, and hopefully those guys get some touches as the season carries on. My WRs suck, probably the worst collection of targets in our league, which will hold me back like last year. My TE is a big sleeper, but could bomb out. I do plan on making the playoffs, and once there will make some noise!!!

Yeah....as stated, those reviews were the opinions expressed of the last place team from 2006, and do not necessarily reflect the sound and wise reviews of a smarter manager.

Possibly right about the kickers, didn't have to go that right... But if you think having A. Gates and H. Miller as a handicap, urr ok?
QB's, 2 loses you say? I can live with that, your saying then my team is bound for a 12-2 record as is :)
Yah, agree with RB's lots of disappointing last year RB's that I hope improve this year :)

Only a handicap because you can only slot one in on any given week, as they cannot be slotted into the W/R position. To me Gates is an every week starter no matter what the matchup.

I'm suprised at how close the teams came out to be in my projections, typically I see a couple of teams that look very strong and some that look very weak. I think this is often a result of the different rating services that are used.
When I compare just the starters I see 8 teams that have a shot at the play-offs, and depending on injuries that probably moves to all 12 teams, but again that is a result of how close the teams are matched talent wise. Among the starters I haev JTSerbs as the top team, but only by 42 points over the course of the season, or 2.6 points per game. An extremely small # that each team will probably average 70 points each week.
I think I did quite well considering I only had 4 keepers, I quite possibly see my 5th keeper being one of my first drops. I sent a couple of feeler e-mails about trading draft picks in return for a potential keeper, but due to work and home getting in the way I didn't get anything worked out prior to the keeper deadline. I'm curious what people feel a fair trade would have been? I was looking for a player that another manager wasn't going to keep, still an upgrade over my 5th keeper in return for a 2-3 round upgrade around rounds 9-10. One of the offers that I had was to move back in the first round, which I thought was to steep of a price in return for a player that wasn't going to be kept.
Part of my problem was injuries last year. I had 2 QBs on the bench for the 2nd half of the season McNabb and Chris Simms. I had to keep McNabb and all of the reports were that Simms would recover by this season. Oh yeah, my other QB was Michael Vick, in our point system he was actually a good QB. So from the end of last year I went from having 3 solid QB keepers to 1. I was hoping to possibly upgrade either a draft pick or player with that arrangement, but instead I was left with only 1 QB keeper and due to the roster restraints fairly thin at other positions.
I know that I don't have a K at this point, and I probably won't until the start of the season as I watch how the young WR on my team are doing. Will I get a top flight K, no, but the difference between Ks is so small that it isn't a great sacrifice.

Do we have someone who can plug our teams into the assimilator to see how we all fare?
Do you all want me to get the Yahoo site up and running now, or wait until after the weekend so that people aren't away when it comes to claiming undrafted players?
One last thing...how do waivers work before the season starts, first come first serve? The question being, I will have to assign a waiver listing. I would think I would rank them from 12 down to 1 based on the draft order, as they would reset based on standings during the season anyways.
Thoughts?

Rosters entered, and we are ready to go.
I love how Yahoo lets you enter the rosters as you draft. You can enter 1 or 1000 players at a time if you want, just save it and finish entering the rest of the players later. Really makes entering all the players quite easy, and lets you do it when you want. Good job Yahoo!

Waiver wire.
Sound ok. But if you have a player that gets hurt in pre-season. Sure would be nice if you could pick up a player before game 1. EX. If you picked only 1 kicker. And the bum trys to make a tackle and the gets hurt during a pre-season game. ;O

I can open the WW without any problems at all. Do we want a claiming process, or just an open claim? I can suggest that I will unlock waivers at noon on Wednesday, and therefore everyone can have a first come first serve at the exact same time, knowing the exact same things.
As for last year's winnings, I can't remember who was in charge of collecting, but I have asked a number of times about the status of the fees, but never gotten a response...

I was in charge of collecting, I've need some help from everyone, mainly your real names. If everyone want's to e-mail me your real name I'll update.
As for the WW, I would suggest keeping it closed until the last pre-seaon game and open it up next Tuesday or Wednesday before the Thursday night game. That prevents someone from taking advantage of an injury in a pre-seaon game this weekend.

1. Well, looking over my team, I like it a lot betting than the one I had last year. I really like my WR's. 3 guys that are prime targets. One Williams could over take another on my depth chart at RB if things work out well. My QB situation scares me. I hope that I didn't make a mistake trading Brees.
2. None of my picks really stick out as a favorite.
3. Steve Smith could end up as a stater sometime this year.
4. I also have to say that Peterson is a reach. Barilko6 basically had 6 keepers, and let him get away. Cutler was at the top of my board. Also, Dwfffan taking Harrington with J.P. Losman still on the board.
5. One team that sticks out is Wiggs. Nice team. JTSerb has a nice team as well as Golfreak. I don't see a repeat winner this year.

#20: In my defense I loaded a queue and forgot to prioritize it. I by no means wanted Harrington as my first choice, or second for that matter. It was a mistake that I will have to live with. As far as a repeat winner this year, I agree.

Yeah, I thought for a long time on my first pick overall. Was debating between AP, Lynch, and Cutler. I saw Losman available and figured he had a good chance of dropping down to me, so I narrowed it down to the RB's.
I figure Lynch was the better pick for this year, but AP has better home run potential. Seeing AP go first overall in many keeper league drafts helped me feel better about things too.

That is why I hate drafting with a queue. You don't get the same feel for the draft as when you make your own picks. But, to be polite, we have to do it.

Hey there all...
Check your team on Yahoo to make sure I didn't make any mistakes.
As for waivers before the season starts, we have two options.
I don't want to have the teams frozen, as we never stated that we would have frozen rosters for week one, and some people need to fill positions yet.
SO....
Option 1 Open waiver free for all, starting at 13:00 EST on Wednesday, and then closing before gametime on Thursday for the rest of the weekend.
Option 2 Submit hidden waiver claims to me with priority going in reverse order of our drafting order.

1) When did MINN get a "D"???? 2) Who was that wearing Romo's uniform last night? 3) How many pro starts does MINN new RB have????? 4) How many people HONESTLY figured that Roethlibergererererer, Eli, and Kitna...would each outscore Peyton with his 3 TD passes on Thurs night?????????????

Quick question...
Someone has put in a waiver claim, and asked for a player to be moved to IR.
Our league doesn't have an IR, so I have emailed that manager for further clarification.
Should I process the claim, releasing the IR player, or wait?

I suggest waiting, until this evening maybe? It can be hard to remember each leagues rules. It really isn't an issue unless someone claims the same player between now and when the other manager gets back to you.

Guys...
I have 6 QB's on my roster. I am looking to move any of them for help at WR and/or RB. Would be willing to package any of my current WR/RB in the right deal as well.
I could also use a QB who doesn't have a week 6 bye.

so do I, but I wasnt about to give up Cutler for Huard + I cant recall who, as was requested. Couldnt see a viable counter to make when I was approached, so I simply declined with an explanation as to why.
Cutler hasnt done what I had hoped, but there is still time. Green has been safe, but unspectacular. I need Favre to retire, so Rodgers can get some game time. I need McNair to do the same for Bollers sake, and Warner was awesome in relief last week. Need to hang on this week and see if Wisenhunt yanks Leinart fast. If he does, Warner becomes a viable spot starter.

ChuckTaylors Gives:
Wes Welker

My rationale for the trade:
With Peterson, Bush, and Willis, I would only be able to keep 2 of them at season's end, so might as well get some value now. With my terrible weakness at WR, Welker will be immediate relief. I was trying out a few other bigger proposals, none of which panned out, but I am happy with Welker.
Now if only Andre Johnson can come back to the way he was in the first couple of weeks, this team of mine can make a good playoff run.

On the surface, its a horrible trade for me. So, I think an explanation of my thought processes are in order here:
1) My season is in the tank. SJs virtual season long injury, combined with Greens early exit, combined with Wards earlier troubles....all added up to put me in the tank. I'm 3-7, yet only 4 teams have more Pts for than I do. *shrug*
2) We name 5 keepers, and are limited to 2 in any given slot. If we named yesterday: Cutler/Delhomme; Westbrook/SJ; Shockey. After this trade: sub Bowe for Shockey and I get an extra early draft pick next year. Hopefully, I can add eitehr depth at a slot, or pickup a competent rcvr, so that I am not so "lacking" in that dept. If Bowe continues to devleop, he could become one of the next "great" WRs, given what he has done with his rookie campaign.
3) If Cutler continues to struggle, and if Beck (Mia) proves himself, then he may be in line as a long-term keeper instead. THAT, was my htinking when I went for him off the waiver wire.

I had some problems with the new drag and drop earlier this year. "IF" you submit changes and it asks for your password(every 2weeks) you must (re) submit move after login back in. Just a thought! But why would he(PROMISE) in any undrunk state of mind, put Green from off the bench to replace Edge? He didnt have him in from last week. A drag and drop error? Trying to move Lamont to bench. Left screen up @ libary and some kids made the move? But it does seems weird. But it is the manager job to check roster. That why we get paid the big bucks! Guess we hope that Selvin Young scores 6.37 more then the Tenn Def. Glad im not the League Commissioner !!!!!

It was checked, about 45 minutes before I left for the day. And I know my dog didn't do it... no kids... no roommates...
I'm trying to see what possible case I could of done to make that error happen, but I don't see any.
Brought L. Jordan off the lineup... Moved Fred Taylor up to that RB spot. Cotchery then got put into the W/R slot. Edge should of never been moved out for any reason that I can see, especially since Jordan is on the bench.
Whatever the league consensus says is fine with me, hopefully Titans D makes it a no brainer. I've been in these horrible commish positions before and it isn't easy.

Well considering the entire league was emailed, and nobody has voiced any concern over the matter, all the managers that have voiced an opinion seem fine to allow Edge to be placed back onto the roster.
The one voice that I was hoping to hear from was Doug, as it seems to affect him the most.
If there are no other things said, I will change the rosters, which effectively means that the matchup between Doug and Promize will be reversed, resulting in a win for Promize and a loss for Doug. That will also affect claiming priorities for tomorrow.
Last chance to speak your mind!

Man...two hard rulings in one week!
Well, since nobody has objected at all, and since all of those actually commenting are in favor of the switch, I am going to make the roster change for Promize's team.
Thought process:
Ahman Green was listed as being out before Friday's game, AND, he wasn't active in a previous week, (meaning he wasn't a leftover from the Week 10 roster) which leads me to believe that an error occurred.
ROSTER MOVES

Alright, Promize's roster has been changed, and Yahoo states that it could take up to 24 hours before the standings are reflecting that change.
That being said...this is going to solve our locked players situation:
After Noon on Thursday, any players that play on Thursday will not be eligible to be picked up or dropped at all.
That still enables all managers to make necessary changes for the Sunday/Monday games if they so wish.

Lucky for me my guys scored lots during the season!
And no offense to GolfFreak, but I am sure glad I didn't run into any New England players this week as they will almost assuredly run up the fantasy points in a huge revenge matchup against the Jets.

kudos to Sarge. That last game had me biting my nails all weekend. Not often you can put up 119 points and still have to squeak by. Also, Im really happy to see that everyone played the season out and there was great parody. I think this a great league with a bunch of great managers. russelldl

It was close...that could have gone either way, Johnson could have gotten you enough points to push Russell out of the playoffs quite easily.
Following Russell's points, I also really like this league. With 4 playoff teams, managers are forced to try for every point possible, which makes it very competitive. Waivers went over really well for me, no major problems, other than Sarge's phantom claim, which didn't really affect anything.
Probably not for next year, but I would love to see added value given to WRs. I feel they aren't very meaningful in the scores, as their value always seems to be pretty low

You should have saved some of that money and hired personal trainers for some of your injury cases. Or hired someone who could steer you towards a serviceable QB.

Picked up Delhomme of waivers. (Dropping him I thought was a mistake, in a keeper league.) Got Cutler....I'll have 2 serviceable QBs for next season. Cutler will have Walker back, and Delhomme has Smith. Both will have perfectly acceptable numbers next year. (Provided they stay healthy that is. A provision wherein, too many of my roster seem to have trouble grasping the concept.)

Its obviously too early to start discussing offseason trades, but I'll have three QBs once the year ends. At this point, I'm likely to keep brady and Eli so Trent Edwards will probably be available. If he ends the season strong he could be a solid qb keeper for someone or I may even decide to keep him and offer up Eli. So if anyone has any interest, we can discuss it during the offseason. russelldl

With Adrian Peterson, Reggie Bush, Ryan Grant, and Justin Fargas at Running Back, two of those guys will be available, and with Andre Johnson and Jeremy Shockey, and Wes Welker, two of those guys will have to be moved.

We can keep 5 correct? And a max of 2 for each position. Interesting, I'll go out on a limb here and say that mine will be the following, depending on how injuries play-out.
Donovon McNabb Tavaris Jackson Ronnie Brown Frank Gore Reggie Wayne

I second the point about the WR value. If they don't catch a td, they don't really have much value.
I am up for a big trade. I would really like to overhaul my team if possible. The only guy that I would have off the table is Addai, but even then, I will have to look at an offer that would be given.

That reason too many players have little to no value, is because the points per for yardage, requires too many yards. 1 pt per 40 IIRC, is too far out of line. Turns it into a "scoring" league, where a seldom used 3rd down/goal-line back, has more value than a starting RB. Its also, why TEs have virtually no value at all, unless thay catch a TD. TEs will often go entire games, with under 30 yds in receptions. Thats .75 points for us.

I agree also, a very good team can get crushed because the RB goes for 130 but no TD, but the opponent gets 12 points for a random RB getting his 2TDs of the year.
There needs to be more emphasis placed on yardage. My $.02.

right you are wiggs. PaYds/Pts is 1 per 50 yds. Ru/Re is 1/20.
IMHO...QB pts in a 2-QB league, should be 4 pt for ea PaTD instead of 6 and 1 pt/40 PaYds.
Ru/Re should be 1/10 yds and 6 for ea TD.
Right now, a WR with 6 catches and 87 yds but no TD, gets a whoppping 4.35 pts. Beaten by a RB who is in for 6 plays and has a 1 yd TD catch.

Or a back up TE who catches a couple of TD points.
In our scoring system Mike Vrabel probably has more points than many of the guys that we drafted.

I agree, which is why I mentioned it in post 155. However with this being a keeper league, I would say we need a very high percentage vote to pass any changes for next year, and a lower percentage vote to pass things for the following year.
But from the looks of things, most managers seem to be onboard with some sort of change for 2008, which is good.

Since we seem to be pointing out whats "wrong", I'd like to point out something I think is very right.
We use fractional points. Something I've always been supportive of doing. Few things in FF sports (outside of injuries) have gotten under my skin more than those leagues where fractions dont get counted. Say 1/10 yds. I have 2 RB and 2 WR, where 2 get 89 yds and 2 get 79 yds (I've had this happen FTR). I get 2 x 8 pts plus 2 x 7 = 30 points off 336 total yards. Your same 4 guys, go for 80-83 yards each. You get 32 points vs my 30, while my guys recorded more yardage than yours.
So...kudos, IMHO, for doing it right.

yeah, that really hurts. If only that leg would have broke a half hour earlier. It also hurts that I've carried Davenport all year just in case parker went down and I still got stung for it. But all in all, Parker hasnt produced much this season anyway, so I don't depend too much on his points. But he usually does better than zero. If anything, Big Ben's big night hurts the most.

Unlimited add/drops. Managers will place claims for waiver-wire guys, which are processed every Wednesday at noon. Then every player is open until the start of the first game. Waiver Priority is based on last to first in standings, with each week it being reset to go back to last-first.
Keep 5 players, no more than 2 at any one position.
Rosters can be checked under your Yahoo Fantasy Profile.
Draft order is set by worst to first from last season, and is a straight draft.

Alright, well if nobody has any objections or other suggestions, I say we go with next Friday, August 8 to declare our 5 keepers, and then start the draft on the following Monday, August 11th.
That should still be more than enough time to get things done in time. If people want to delay the start time, I think that would be ok as well. (Last year we started the draft on August 21st, and we completed the draft in about 4 days!!!!!, so we have time)
Still no word from Doug, either by email or on the Yahoo site. Electro, RE: 216, I never got that email, was that from a different league maybe?

I would like to start on the 11th or so- I will be away from August 23-30. I will have phone access- texts too, but it would be easier to do it on here.

Also, I am looking to move either Reggie Bush or Ryan Grant for a draft pick upgrade, or package one of them with Jon Kitna for a QB upgrade.
Or...package both of them for a stud RB upgrade.
Wes Welker and/or Andre Johnson have to be moved as well, but I have a few irons in the fire for those guys.

I have had one manager asking if we could eliminate the limit of two players at one position rule.
I will throw that out to the rest of you, but I am thinking it would have to be a very large majority to pass for this year, as that changes League Structure and planning in a huge way.

Alright, well If I don't hear from Doug by Monday, I am going to search out for a new manager. 3 Emails and these forums have gone unanswered.

Hey guys... I'll play. August 1st was my "oh, fantasy football" reminder.
I am extremely tied up with work these days, but don't see any reason I can't at least check in a couple times per day to make picks. Last year I was taking a break this time of year and was able to concentrate heavily on my drafts, this year not as much. But looking forward to another good year of this.
b6 I'll probably send you an email from a private account which is going to be the best way to reach me on short notice. Give me a day or two to get my fantasy stuff together.

Is this right?
Stat Categories: Passing Yards (50 yards per point) Passing Touchdowns (6)
Thought it was (4) for TD

Russelldl...just check your fantasy profile, you can access our league from there, and that will show rosters and stat categories.
I don't have time to reply to posts and emails today, but will do so tomorrow, Tuesday.

Post 2 From Sarge
4) Sorry Barilko, but A Peterson in rd 6 was a reach IMHO. Especiallym when M Lynch still on the board. Possibly in the longrun, Peterson will do more, but Lynch will have the bigger yr this season and next I think.
Um, yea bad pick. :) Ill trade you Lynch for AP Barilko

Were you a Ryan Leaf over Peyton Manning supporter?
So keepers are do on Friday? Shouldn't be a problem, my team was awful last year.
Anyone have any interest in Brady Quinn?
