All the injuries surely do not help.
Just out of curiosity, who on your team has missed some game time due to injury? Here is my list for RustyStone:
Posloszny - IR Westbrook - I did not replace him on the game lineup -- oops Dawkins (I am thinking he won't be back for a few more weeks) Bailey (although the bye week will help) Pennington (I dumped him after the Eagles bye week)

I have 2 good kickers with byes in week 8, and would like to trade Matt Stover for a #2 QB or WR if someone has a need for a good kicker. I also may make the Packers DEF available for a quality starter if you need a DEF.

Injuries for Thunder Bunnies: I only have 12 roster spots left that I drafted. However, I lost 2 weeks with Ahman Green; will miss 3 weeks for Deion Branch; and I dropped Alex Smith, the SF QB, the week after he was injured. There are not enough roster spots for keeping players thru extensive injuries.

I've had Maroney out for 3 weeks now, Walker out for a few weeks, and Bob Sanders out for I think 2 weeks now. They're 3 of my top players.
This season has just been extremely wierd with top players under performing and then the injuries on top of it. It's pretty difficult to field solid rosters week to week unless you got lucky and haven't had any injuries or under performers.

I've hated AOL since pre-draft.
It's royally screwed me AGAIN!
I hate this POS software...Why in the WORLD are we not using Yahoo/Espn/Pieces of scratch paper? All would be infinitely better than this mindless bunch of toggles and drop-downs known as the AOL fantasy football site.
Screw you AOL!

I don't know if this even has anybody beat but 40 % of my starters were claimed off the free agent wire this week. So that's not only 6 guys who I did not draft but 6 guys who noone else in the league even wanted on their team.

DH -- football is crazy, isn't it!
I got 47.5 points today off six guys I did not draft! Also, Hester starts for me as I have lousy WR and he has been good most weeks -- this week for 34.34 as they finally used him as a WR and he scored an 81 yd TD in addition to a PR TD. After a lousy few weeks, I bench Kampman and he has a monster day - 14.5. Go figure. Anderson (on the bench) doubles McNabb's points.
I wish I had played 13 this week though...

Wey v Red Wey v Slow Swing v 13
I wish the baseball games took into account normal people's sleeping hours! Also, it is a SUMMER pastime, not a winter one! Who wants to play baseball when it's freezing out? Those Rockies are pretty amazin' and I don't feel so badly that the Phillies lost...
I still think that Jimmy Rollins should be the MVP for what he did for the Phillies -- holding them together and being so consistent along with awesome career and MLB numbers. Anybody know when they announce that stuff?

I was taking a look at the claims and WW priority lists since now they aren't resetting for the rest of the season. I assume the site uses the claims list for the Wednesday pickups and the WW list for everything else. If it does work like this...should the lists be the same? I don't remember anything in the RIFC rules stating there were separate lists for this.

I gather from posts 85-89 in the RIFC thread that the 2 orders should be the same and that there is a way for the commissioner to set them to synchronize automatically.
Our WW order right now is listed as different from the (new) claims order so judy may have to set the ww order manually and figure out how to do the settings so they synchronize in the future.

Yea -- I didn't realize that I had to set this week's WW by Tuesday am -- I waited until Tues at 12:01, so they are now manually set to match the claims list for this week. They are all set for the rest of the season. The order is the same for both (AOL does not allow the claims results to be synched to the WW -- applicable for weeks 1-6 only -- so I manually set the WW each week after all the claims (NOT fa drop/add) went through). Here is the order for claims and WW: worst to first % season worst to first, points scored (season) worst to first, points scored (last week) virtual coin toss (by AOL).
When you get a player you go to the back of the list for the next round of that week. Each week resets after the games are over.
OK?

#21 Judy, They usually announce the MLB awards way after the season is over. I think it is in December or January, and then they announce one a day for a week. Rookie AL, Rookie NL, Cy Young AL, Cy Young NL, Managers of year, then MVP. #25 Judy, Once the timing is nailed down, could you reiterate timing for both lists for us rookies.

Wow the claims and fa drop/adds were busy today. All the WR on my list were taken! I had trouble ranking them and went with Moore, Parrish, Toomer and then Walter. They seemed somewhat equal. I went with Moore #1 as I did not want to have to deal with a bye week issue, and I got him. Also, he seems to be getting worked into the Saints offense ... as Colston, whom I dropped, gets phased out...
Psychos snatched Sammy Knight -- I was hoping to get him via regular fa drop/add. Phooey.
We gotta all be reading the same stuff/cheat sheets!

Each week resets after the games are over.
I don't know if we're talking about the same thing here, but the change starting this week is that claims don't reset going worst-to-first after a week's games anymore. The order after all WW pickups have been made stays as the order for claims the next week. Is that what we have?
The waiver order doesn't show up on AOL the way it should yet. It should be the same as the (just completed) claims order, with Thunder Bunnies, who made the last successful claim, at the bottom.

Sorry, guru's post 102 here is what I should have cited. Posted last Sunday: Reminder: this is the last week that claim priorities reset. Once they reset on Tuesday, they will simply carry forward for the rest of the regular season without any resets. Successful claims (F/A or waiver) will move you to the end of the line, and the only way you will move up the priority list is when the claims of other teams are processed. However I will leave the matter to you, judy. I'm certainly not one to complain about worst-to-first seeding!

[36 & 37] Claims and waivers remain linked at all times. That never changes.
There should be no more resets of either. They should simply carry forward seamlessly, adjusted only for successful claims/waivers.
Hopefully, the system will continue to keep them linked. I changed the commissioner priority settings to manual for both, and left the link box checked.
The current waiver priorities should reflect the results of the just-completed claiming process. Next week's free agent claiming priorities should be the rollover of this week's final waiver priorities.

Oh man, Guru, you mean I have to manually go over all the claims (both the 12:01 and the fa drop/adds) and waiver wires each week?
AOL does NOT link them -- I have had to manually reset the WW after the Weds 12:01 claims were awarded. I kept the claims as worst to first, etc criteria and they reset automatically each week after the standings were posted.
I thought Mike said that after week six, he didn't have to do anything. I am sure that's what happened last year. My claiming order last year was always how far from the bottom I was each week...One of my AA buddies rarely used the claiming system and did fa drop/adds after the claims were awarded (at 12:02) so he would not be penalized in the WW order.
I also think I am the only one who has done a WW request this year in our league.
The printout I made from last year's league (same as this year) states that the WW resets each Tuesday am.
When you change the ranking to manual by commish, what does AOL do - just keep rolling through the check box for "move to end of ranking order"?
This is SO confusing. Can I ask my managers if they want to stay with worst to first, with a reset each week? Otherwise I need to manually reset both the claiming and the WW each week and I am sure they weren't touched by the commish after week 6 last year -- but what WAS the setting for each?

Thunderbunnies is at the bottom of the claims order. I am still checking to see what to do about the WW order. Fortunately, I have 48 hours as the dropped players from today are not released from the WW until 12:01 on friday.
Hopefully, it will be figured out by then.

Thanx for looking into this, judy.
I've never been a commish under AOL but I would guess that all you will have to do is to first manually reset the WW order to the order now shown on the claims page, and then change the league settings to (1) remove worst-to-first re-ordering; and (2) have teams go to the bottom of the order after a successful Claim or Waiver Wire pickup. Hopefully it won't be too complicated to do this reset. As you say we've got till Friday noon to figure this out.
The f/a add/drops don't enter into this as they are always first come first served and successful adds do not affect the order of anything.

Toral, that is sort of what I am thinking, but Mike told me that after week 6, he did NOT have to change the WW order any more, so that is where I am confused.
I think for AOL, that claims and WW will have to stay separate and that each order will roll in the rankings as claims and WW are processed. That seems to make the most sense. I think that means that I set up a manual order for the WW this week, but don't touch it once it gets started. The new claims order is set, but I need to know what to use so that it does not reset itself.
I honestly do not think that anyone else has used the WW yet to grab any one. I usually get all the transaction notices and I do try to remember to look for them and I cannot remember any other than mine.

Pops,
As much as I would love to beat you this week, I want it to be fair and square, so be sure to set your lineup early this time.
Most of our managers have already set a preliminary lineup for this week -- tweaking as they hear more about injuries comes later. For example, you KNOW that you are going to start Palmer, so why not put him in now?
Trying to access AOL on Sunday morning is a HUGE mistake -- all the last minute folks (thousands of them) are trying to get to the server and it takes a long time as you found out!

OK -- I just heard from Mike, our 2007 commish, and he told me what to do, so we should be all set. Due to the AOL set up, claims and WW will be independent, but as you make a claim or WW you roll to the bottom of the respective list.

I was wondering how long Leftwich would stay unclaimed after he had been named to start. Quite a while, as it turned out; the info was out yesterday afternoon. I saw it last night, but don't need him at QB; I could have picked him up and tried to trade him, or one my other QBs, but I couldn't be sure I could have gotten anyone with as much value.
I was surprised because this league has been quite active in claims at least. I know one of the AAA leagues has managers complaining about rampant manager inactivity. I was tempted to suggest to judy that she ask the AAA managers to count their transactions on Wednesday at noon and compare them with ours, but I never got around to it.

Hey Bonka -- that's why I work hard to try and find IDP's. Only for me it is my WR that are average and inconsistent. I am getting lucky this year only due to Hester's awesome KOR and PR success (and his TD catch last week), but even that is a crap shoot as some teams won't kick to him. I will be curious to see what the Eagles do as their ST are not good. The papers here are full of ideas...

Has Pops/Team 13 quit on us?
This is the second time he did not set a lineup, leaving out a QB and a DEF. He picked up the Lions DEF on saturday so I assumed that he was going to set a lineup for today. I did not intervene as commish as I was away from my computer beginning at ~9:30 am today and assumed since he picked up a DEF on Sat that he would set a lineup.
I also posted here (#44) and sent him an email reminder to set his lineup.
I will probably still lose to him as our 2 IDPS duke it out. Whoever has more points wins the matchup.) That CHI drive vs the Eagles killed my DEF points.

No worries judy, I'm losing to him as well. Pretty unbelievable how freakin lucky you can get with huge games from the guys you do have going to win without filling 3 slots. He's just lucky that an invalid roster doesn't give you an automatic loss for the week. Unless that's in the rules and we looked it over.
I'm pretty glad I started the wrong QB and the two guys I had to pick up for fill ins this week put up zeros. Injuries + unexpected bye + expected bye + bad games = pretty bad week!

Yea -- I probably should not have started Hester as my other WR -- I would have done better. the Eagles kicked away from him and he only caught two passes, but one was crucial to the TD drive. sigh.
I see Colston bombed again... both Roddy and Lance outpointed him... I dropped him because last week at least they were not even throwing to him and his season stats for Catches/Att are not good. He might snap out of it, but I decided to bail on him. he looks lost.
I am finished with my significant byes after this week, so I will have no one to blame but myself for my lineup! (baring injuries...)

The standings will be shaken up again except for very lucky Team 13 who won both games without a QB and DEF and an inactive RB.

Being left in London is a pretty nice fate.
How bout being quarantined in Buffalo after losing December 9 and having to spend the winter there?
Listen: no crying here. I watched the Bills lose every game to the Fish during the 70s. Twice a year for a decade. When the Bills finally broke the streak on opening day 1980 we swarmed onto the field and tore down the goalposts. I don't think they would sit by and let that happen in the NFL nowadays -- wasn't it the last time the goalposts were torn down in the NFL? But after that win, nobody was in a mood to stop us or pretend to try.

FF Today has Anderson #5, McNabb #10
Outlaw FF has McNabb #3, Anderson #4
RotoRob has Anderson #3, McNabb #12
Roger Rotter (Fox) has McNabb #2, Anderson #5
Harmon (Fox) has Anderson #4, McNabb #7
CBS Sportsline has Anderson #5, McNabb #9
I hope that clarifies the situation for you.

That's funny -- sort of mirroring my dilemma. With my luck, I would put the wrong QB in the wrong game! Both are recommended "must starts". I will see what the tea leaves say when I wake up on Sunday...
Totalling up those points: Mc Nabb = 74 Anderson = 54 so, using Xcountry scoring, Anderson wins by a long shot. He certanly has been more consistent.
The biggest problem with McNabb is that he has no "go to" receivers. They all stink, which is a point of view FINALLY exposed in the papers today. Our top 2 are Curtis and Brown. UGH. The others are useless -- no point in even trying to defend them -- let 'em go, they won't get thrown to. The Eagles need to spend some $$$$$$ and get a decent set of receivers for McNabb.

Uh , Bonka, I believe we tried that scenario and as I recall it did not turn out too well...
Although I have to tell you it was a fun time in Eagleville -- all we did was throw the ball -- 2 plays -- boop score! 3 plays -- boop -- another score! Usually we were up by 7 in the first 5 minutes. You had to be there at the very start of the game or you missed it! If they had kept throwing to him in the Super Bowl, we would have won, but they didn't want to tire him out... seesh.

Judy, others -
Judy and I exchanged emails earlier this week.
To summarize -
I'm done w/ AOL.
In the last 2 weeks I have spent approx 1.5 hours on the AOL site fiddling w/ my roster and the site. I have 2 incomplete roster's to show for it. From day 0 (literally, the first time I logged in) I have had problems with the site.
As a married man w/ 2 young children, I will not just continue to feed time into AOL and hope for better results. I have far better things to do w/ my time. Last week I even changed from my normal Sunday morning routine - nothing.
I'll give it another go tonight, but i'm not spending my entire night on the site. I was on vacation this week so I was out of touch, but i'm back home now. I'm back to checking this forum daily, but that means nothing as far as my lineup goes.
Also, you can call it luck if you want, but if I beat you w/ 4/5 of a team...sounds like i'm pretty damn good ;).

Pops,
I see that you fixed Boley and your DEF. With RB Morris doubtful, do you want RB Jordan?
Also WR Owens is on a bye -- how about WR Johnson instead? You still need a PK. I sent you a list via email. Let me know what to do.
I am going to bed now, but if I still see Morris and Owens I will swap them out. I won't do anything about your PK unless I hear from you. I leave my house Sunday at ~ 9 am and won't be back at a computer until game time, so by 9 am is when I will make the changes -- unless you have done it already or I hear otherwise from you.
OK? Please answer here in the thread.

I was thinking of starting different WRs in the 2 games today. Vincent Jackson in the game where I seemed a bit closer to the ability of the othet team, and R. Brown vs. E'D, as a boom-or-bust guy I might need against a better team on paper. In the end I started V.J. in both
V.J. scored zip. I lead E'D by 4 1/2 pts, w Brandon Marshall going against Ian Gold tomorrow night. And Reggie Brown having scored 10.5 today.
If I lose tomorrow, it may break my spirit forever.
And I could well lose to DH as well, who has Driver.

I worry about Andy Reid. From our city paper:
Garrett and Britt Reid were sentenced to jail today on charges stemming from January traffic incidents, and in a dramatic moment, the judge likened their home environment to a "drug emporium."
Their father is Eagles coach Andy Reid.
Judge Steven O'Neill questioned whether Reid's adult sons should live there, given their drug problems.
"There isn't any structure there that this court can depend upon. . . . This is a family in crisis," O'Neill said.
----- My comments: It is clear that these kids (aged 22 and 24) have serious addiction issues, but at what point are they adults? And just where does the judge expect them to live -- after being in jail for the next several months?
In an online poll, 70% feel that the parents "bear responsibility for their sons' criminal activity."

If this is, in fact, your final decision, please post it in this thread so that the other managers will know of your decision.
At that point, I will seek a new manager for your team. If you are planning to continue to manage, please indicate that, however know that we will expect you to attempt to keep your team competitive each and every week.

Hi to All,
Pops has defaulted on his manger title for Team 13. I have found a new owner.
It is GURU, who is the Commissioner/Founder of all the RIFC leagues. He will manage the team through out the regular season to maintain the competitive balance. The only major change is that he might go get an IDP for this week (a bye) -- otherwise he will use the players already on the team.
Guru and I have agreed, however, that Team 13 will not be eligible for the playoffs. The top 8 teams, as per the rules, will duke it out. We will figure out what to do with the uneven number for the consolation playoffs and I will entertain suggestions from those managers.
If you have any questions or concerns about this, please post them in the thread so that we all can participate in the discussion.
Thanks.
Judy

I'm in, and have picked up a DL to fill a bye opening, and also added a backup RB in case Gore is unable to play. Since he isn't scheduled until Monday night, my options were pretty limited there.
My only other contingency for this week appears to be Jerry Porter, who is listed as questionable. I think I'll leave him active for now, and scramble at the last minute if he's inactive.
I did think that it was more advisable to have a backup QB than a second kicker, so I added Palmer's backup at Cincy as a disaster handcuff.
If it turns out that I do have to replace Porter, however, I'll drop Fitzpatrick to fill that need.
In general, my philosophy will be to try to keep the best lineup active for the rest of the regular season, in an attempt to preserve league integrity. When we get to the playoffs, this team will be ineligible for the Championship playoffs. If you want me to manage it in any Consolation playoffs, I'm willing to do that, although the team looks rather stacked, and probably isn't a very fair competitor for the other 5 teams. Up to you guys.

Well. if I hadn't been so dumb as to choose Longwell for my kicker I would have won, so really I deserve losing.
There's going to be a real battle among teams near .500 for the last W/L playoff spot, and the 2 most-points slots. The teams that have the most at stake in *Winning Games*, interest in beating opponents, are RustyStone (judy) and Thunder Bunnies (davepyro). Each would want to get into the playoffs on W/L alone to avoid the mess that is the total points rankings. These can change quickly; even as of last week, Bonka looked like a shoo-in for the top total-points slot; suddenly he's not.
As of now, competition for 2 playoff total-points slots is among:
Thunder Bunnies 2566.10 BoNkA 2539.60 Thunder Bunnies 2522. 36 Re the current RIFC rules: giving the last 2 playoff spots on total points *may* be fairer, but it lessens the possibility of dramatic events in the last 2 weeks, wherein a loser upsets a better team and costs it a playoff spot, or people have to wait till the final gun in MNF to know who's in the playoffs. Of course Guru has adopted this for RIFC and it's now custom and accepted, but I'm not sure whether I like it or not. Anyone have opinions?
I have achieved one of my goals for this end-of-season and playoffs period. Behind my top 2 RB choices, I have 3 starting RBs: Chatman, Fargas and Young. Unfortunately, despite this amassing of talent, I am not going to be in the playoffs. I had a feeling that was going to be a problem.

Toral,
I don't like the points total for the 7/8 places either. I think W/L first and then points for to break the tie. Oh, well. My total is only 2555.02, so I NEED to be in the top 6 (and I might be thanks to Team 13 being defaulted out of the playoffs!) I have two tough matchups this week (slow and joe -- I lost to Joe first time around...I think that was the game Westbrook DNP at the last minute...). I did better when my opponents had byes...

QB 1 Brady (5) 2 Romo (7) 3 Anderson (40) 4 Ben (15) 5 Brett (12) 6 Peyton (1) 7 Carson (3) 8 Drew (4) 9 Hasselback (9) 10 Donovan (10)

TE
1 Gates (1) 2 Winslow (3) 3 Witten (9) 4 Gonzales (5) 5 Miller (15) 6 Clark (11) 7 Shockey (2) 8 Cooley (7) 9 Watson (10) 10 Lee (29)
It seems this position has the least variation from pre season to now.
Any comments?

My team is now an RB mess... I thought I was all set with Lynch and Westbrook with L Washington as a back up. Well, out goes Lynch, bummed knee goes Westbrook (although I do expect him to play vs MIA). My saving grace, but just for this weekend, is that Leon is going against the bottom dwelling Steeler return defense... There are no more RB out there. I almost took Dayne, but waffled for a few days and now Nathan has him...sigh.

Too bad the trading deadline is so early. I have 4 starting RBs and could have extraced some value from you, judy.

It's my own stupid fault. I'd been looking at Dayne's availability for a few days but couldn't figure out who to drop. Then after he was gone the light bulb went on! 20-25 touches by a starting RB beats 3-4 touches by a TE (NO Johnson). STUPID!
Hopefully Lynch will be healed by next week. I wasn't looking for great stats from him vs the Pats anyway, but I do need him healthy down the road. They would be safe not to play him if there is any doubt.

I've sure been disappointed in many of my players' this year; Tomlinson, Holt, Ward in particular. Farve has exceeded my best projections and Galloway has been better than I hoped, but they've been the only bright spots in a very average year so far.

Also I think the Chargers coaching fire and hire may go down as one of the worst in recent history. Turner and his staff often look lost...

There is no way without Travis Henry that I am making playoffs. Now Ahman Green is looking out for rest of year. That leaves K. Keith, J. Jones, and Chicago's Peterson for my 3 RB's. I did not draft any of them!! Does anyone believe their RB roster is worse??
Thanks for the links, Toral.

Donovan goes the the locker room (R knee) with 0.08 points. I am doomed...

That sucks 137 & 138, but my main man Farve is hot again, but LT and the Chargers offense look confused and inept.

Well, as an Eagles fan, we are horrid again -- something is so wrong with this team, but it is a different aspect of the game each time. However, basically our offense stinks -- play calls and execution. Sigh, It is like the not-so-good old days... Regardless of who is the QB next year, we need to get some decent WR!

McNabb -- ankle not broken, return doubtful and then they give the ball to Buckhalter for the TD! Sheesh!

I started 4 DB. What are the odds that NONE of them scored me a point?

Yeah I'm a little worried. My team hasn't been putting up great point totals lately and it's looking like it's going to cost me a playoff spot. Hopefully they pick it up next week.

Dang, apparently I had my lineups wrong. I scored enough points to beat Bunnies in my other game, hah.

Injuries for me this week: McNabb (tell me again why I continue to start him over Anderson?) Lynch Coles Mikell (DB) Wright (DB) None are really expected to play this week either... I was in decent shape until all THAT happened. Now my team is a MESS! And, I play Team 13 this week.

It is at: RIFC AA CHAT #3 http://rotoguru1.com/cgi-bin/read.pl? board=footst&thread=870&lastpost=1195671093
Would someone please link it up for me?
Thanks.
