You'll love the format Jimbo.
For the rest of you that don't know Jim, he's a very solid ff player who tends to take RBPs approach to drafting. Feel free to give him some friendly strategy advice on how to be competitive in this league. I certainly can't offer any. :)

You have JHHH. Here are the rlues as used from last year. Not sure what changes were discussed for this year, but I know the .5 for catches was to be changed to either 1 point for each catch or 1 point for every 2 catches.Glanced through it and think it is up to date:
The league rules had an overriding motto to keep it simple. We draft only 10 roster spots - which is still decent depth considering there are 18 teams - and from the 10 you will start 1 QB, 1 RB, 1 WR/TE, 1 K and 3 flex-RB/WR/TE each week.
Basically we look at your team after the week is over and see what would have been your best lineup and that's the points you get. So if your team is deep and all 10 players are playing then you have a better chance to post a good score. If you have 7 guys who start for their NFL team and 3 who are backups the you need your stars to play better every week to hang around. If you can draft 10 solid consistent players then you should go far. If you draft guys like the Corey Dillon of old who would get 35 points 1 week then 3 points, then 29, then 4 then you can see that on his bad weeks you could be hurting.
The weekly top scoring owner each week will gain immunity for the next week but it will only last through NFL season 15. Week 16 and 17 their will be no immunity and teams will face off for two weeks with the highest combined score the winner and 2nd highest gets second.
Tie breakers for any given week are TOTAL TD's scored by your team (whole roster), then total TD's scored by your lineup (your actually lineup) then rushing TD's, recieving TDs and finally passing TD's. It will probably never even get to a tiebreaker but you never know.
And no transactions after the draft, you get what you draft to last you all 17 weeks! You can trade during the draft but the max # of players you can have is 10. All trades must be for even number players or picks ie 1 for 1, 2 for 2, 3 for 3 etc.
Scoring Rules for QB Event Range (Low-High) Points Passing Yards 25-999 1 point for every 25 Passing Yards 300-999 3 Rushing Yards 10-999 1 point for every 10 Rushing Yards 100-999 3
Rules for QB, RB, WR, TE, PK Event Range (Low-High) Points Number of Passing TDs 1-99 6 points each Pass Interceptions Thrown 1-99 -2 points each Passing 2 Pointers 1-99 2 points each Number of Rushing TDs 1-99 6 points each Rushing 2 Pointers 1-99 2 points each Number of Receiving TDs 1-99 6 points each Receiving 2 Pointers 1-99 2 points each Number of Field Goals Made 1-99 3 points each Extra Points 1-99 1 point each Fumbles Lost (to Opponent) 1-99 -2 points each
Rules for RB, WR Event Range (Low-High) Points Rushing Yards 10-999 1 point for every 10 Rushing Yards 100-999 3 Receiving Yards 10-999 1 point for every 10 Receiving Yards 100-999 3 Receptions 1-99 0.5 points each
Rules for TE Event Range (Low-High) Points Rushing Yards 10-999 1 point for every 10 Rushing Yards 100-999 3 Receiving Yards 10-999 1 point for every 10 Receiving Yards 75-999 3 Receptions 1-99 1.0 point each
TE's are treated as Wr's in this league just so you know.
Draft The draft is serpentine with a twist in 2005. As usual we will roll them bones. All 18 owners will roll and I will verify all rolls, my roll will be verified by Shak/Clyde. This season we will actually run two leagues simultaneously which also means two drafts simultaneously. This is the idea, we sort out from the bone rolls who picks 1st through 18 (100 is the best, 1 is the lowest) and more bone rolling instructions will come. Owner #1 will pick what draft position he wants in draft #1. Owner #2 will pick his slot and so forth and down to owner #18. In mirror league the owner with #18 will select what draft pick he wants first in draft #2, owner #17 will pick next and so forth down to owner #1. Does that make sense? I'll clarify in another post if it appears to be too complicated, which it is not.
2006 payouts are as follows ($50 entry fee) Survivor in each league gets $210 Runner up in each league gets $75 Highest total score for all 17 weeks gets $50 in each league. Owner who survives the most weeks combined between two leagues gets $180. Score Keepers get a $25 discount

I'm checking the board every day. Not much action or conversation as yet.
College football kicked off this week. I've been down at the Texas practices the last couple nights. My boys will be decent this year. Lots of young talent and a killer schedule. I'm thinking 9-3 sounds about right for this team. And I can't wait for the USC v. tOSU game in the early season. That should be a fantastic game.

Has anyone else tried using the Irony Dice server website. I tried using the site for one of our leagues and it no longer works...or maybe its down for maintenance. I found an alternate website if needed: http://www.rpglibrary.org/software/securedice/index.php
Also, are we still using fleaflicker at: http://www.fleaflicker.com/
Lastly, what is the address for payment this year?

For reasons unknown to me, I am having my first FFL draft of the year tomorrow night. If you are willing to share any late round gems I'd appreciate it. I haven't even begun to look hard at any players/teams. I'm thinking one or two of last years 6-10 to 9-7 teams should improve offensively and may provide some.

Count me in. I couldn't scare anyone into a new league this year, so this can take the place of it. Good to see a lot of familiar names here as well.
The two draft policy looks good. Beats getting skunked on it picking 18th.
Being a prior winner of this, well playoff survivor, shouldn't I get automatic immunity for the first week:o)
I will keep looking at the site, but it is unavailable at work. Ed, once the draft starts, could we get a spreadsheet started of both drafts and pass that around via e-mail as well?
Great to be back!!

I was going thru our history to find if we had agreed on any rule changes for this year. I found this from Joe:
i think it was announced that it will be: no mandatory TE spot
TD is tie breaker for immunity...best team, most TD
runoff is tie breaker for elimination, one category should not kick you off the rock
entry fee is still fity bucks
we should NOT modify our scoring system based on what the website can provide because if you are to lazy or dumb to count your own points and realize that an odd number of catches =a .5, then ednecks and I dont need you in this league!

We also said the trade deadline is once the draft starts. Speaking of the draft, let's use Kris's site to roll dem bones. Feel free to roll em. Let's use 10 ten sided die. One roll. Send them to me. http://www.rpglibrary.org/software/securedice/index.php
No one volunteered to be the banker, so I guess I'll have to do it. You may use my address for paypal. Email me for my snail mail address if you need it.
We'll start drafting once I have 18 owners that have paid.

FYI regarding the dice roll website,
For those of you (like myself) that are dyslexic...what Jim is trying to say is:
First line should be 10, 10, 0, and select "sum them all". Next line: set the "roll this set of dice 1 times
I say this after sending Jim 7 rolls (site is defaulted to 7 times rolling.)

According to the rules the second league will be the reverse of the first draft wise?...The second rolls by myself and a few others is for tie breakers because we are tied with soemone else.
Rules states: Draft The draft is serpentine with a twist in 2005. As usual we will roll them bones. All 18 owners will roll and I will verify all rolls, my roll will be verified by Shak/Clyde. Are the following roll offs?
2. 70/44 Chitown Primates 3. 64/59 Tednecks* 4. 63/54 GCobb*
If so, what were the roll offs for? All of the above had different numbers on the first roll.
Just trying to make sense out of it. I think it is because we are drafting two seperate teams....just want to be sure the first dice roll we did doesn't count for both drafts.

Need clarification on how many times we were supposed to have rolled the dice. Instructions from the Trashaulers said roll it twice. Shak states later it wasn't necessary unless there's a tie. What's the ruling?

Trash got it wrong, the second rolls were only needed if you were tied with someone on your first roll. Shak was basically saying if you rolled twice it was no big deal, incase you tied one of these late rollers of the dice. he then wouldn't have to hunt you down to roll again to break the tie.
Man my English is gooder!! Trash, shut your trap and start studing how to lead men at the academy "hooooo I'm a chief come touch my stripes" He HE!! :-)

Hey, I'm ready for some banter (good hearted of course) and the draft is the best in this format, so lets get it on!!!
I would just say let the best man win, but we do have Joe and I'm still not sure if he's a girl passing off as a guy over the internet?? Chitown is his buddy and can confirm that..

Looks like one spot still remains. Never thought a 62 would put in the top 6 in the draft order. I'm assuming high roll gets first choice, second highest gets second choice, and so on? Adn we reverse the selection order in the 2nd league?

Good call Ed.
A little surprised on the 4th draft spot being the overall first choice. I figured 1&2 would be highly, highly sought after with a clear drop off after that.

Yeah I was a little surprised with SC's choice. I guess he wants a certain person and LT and AP are not one of them, so I guess moving down is a smart or dumb move if you didn't want one of those studs. This draft has quite a few elements to add or to think of before choosing a certain player, so It will be a lot different then your normal drafts.....Drafting the best available person is not always the best choice in this format. Can I can confuse any of the rookies is the goal here?

I don't think anyone has won from draft position 1 or 2 in this format!! Maybe SC is a genius, it's a long wait from the 1st pick to your next being at #36. I can't wait that long, I'd blow a fuse.

It's definitely a long wait back to the #1 position with 18 teams in the draft. Still, hard to pass on LT or AP. Lots to consider when drafting in this league. What I thought was my weakest team (by far) last year ended up being less explosive but more consistent and stuck around for awhile. This format is crazy, crazy...you gotta have consistent scorers to stick around.

122 | Edneck

Crying already...you were ignored because Matt Estrella couldn't even film the other team without getting in trouble. A Loser always like company..

Yeah consistent scorers are the key I think, I have a certain strategy every year and it seems to work, I've never left early yet. Risk takers normally leave early in this format, a few exceptions of course, but still it's fun to change things up, so I may try the 3 kicker strategy..

anytime you dont win it all, you leave early ednecks! Take it from me, the true Survivor champion! Thats true about Estrella, but come on Hudson did his job in the Vick Trial.

That was my entire reason for picking 4th, I can't wait that long.
LT is a great pick, but I see more down the line later in the draft. Consistency is the name of the game here and having that little edge when picking 32nd or 36th could have a huge difference.
Besides LT isn't going to get the carries this year with Rivers turning into the next Brady this year!!
It was a real tough choice and was actually hoping that my 71 wasn't top and I got the 4th or so position by default rather than picking it. We'll see how it goes, but if I get say Addai and come back around with a decent player in round 3, I think it might work. I think Ed is correct, I don't think anyone has won from 1 or 2 position either.

Ed, you're a tough old turd. I'd much rather go a few rounds with the GR than mess with you. Clemson has deep talent at most skill positions, probably more so than their championship team. However, the o line is not there and we could use some LBs.
The SEC is the toughest conf, but we do manage to beat up on the Gamecocks pretty much every year. We start the season against Alabama on the 30th.

Jimbo/Ed -- You two will love this...
The oldest daughter is headed to Texas Tech in a couple days. She wanted UT but it wasn't a reality. So, it boiled down to A&M and Tech (accepted at both). I actually preferred A&M...closer and the perception of the school is better. In the end, she chose Tech. When I asked her why Tech, she said this..."I want a place where they play good football. That's not A&M. Besides, at Tech, I can still hate A&M and don't have to hate Texas. That's a win-win. Isn't that what you've been preaching to me for 20 years?" Brought tears to my eyes...the hating on A&M part.

Both Clemson and tOSU are supposed to be VERY good this year. Jimbo seems to have a line on Clemson. I hear tOSU is as stacked as they have been in years and that's saying something. Texas, not so much, at least by their standards. Most of that is related to the schedule (OU, Mizzou, Texas Tech, Kansas, and Arkie). We are playing an SEC team although they're visiting us and backed out of the return trip to Fayetteville next fall (guess Petrino didn't want the beat down in front of the home fans). And, we hired us a real live SEC d-coordinator who actually doesn't mind coaching his players to knock the @#$! out of people. So, there's a chance Texas might actually outperform for a change. Keep one player in mind...Sergio Kindle...dude is a beast. I caught a couple pre-season practices and he was blowing up RBs trying to pick him up on blitz protection. It was beautiful to watch...200 lb RBs were flying like twinkies in Hodge's pantry.

Our draft site has been set up and your invites have been emailed to you. If you haven't received your invite for both sites let me know.
I have the draft set up to start on Sunday at 9am. If there are no objections that's when we will start. Please get acquainted with the site and the predrafting procedures. We'll set the timer to 12 hours, but that should be only for extreme situations (giving birth, suffering a stroke, etc). If you bust the 12 hours, you will suffer the consequences.

Gary, now that will make a grown man break down and cry. I love that story, loyalty to the clan McCobb against the hated enemy A&M. I was just playing about OSU and UT, they get the best selection of recruits out of the entire Country each year, so it's just a reload situation, instead of rebuild problem every year. "Sergio Kindle" I'll keep an eye out on the beast.
Jimbo, I heard the same about Clemson this year, could be the year of the Orange Pawprint.
JHHH we already talked about this, Keep Harrison (Jons Boy) kicking that football, best and savest job in the NFL, with those JHHH genes I expect a Hobdy in the NFL in 14 more years.
I'd like to go on about UK, but even our basketball team even sucks..Still I root and the pain of defeat does not deter my diehard feelings. Ditka is a smart man!!

Just so you new guys know. We only use the Myfantasyleague.com site to perform the draft. You might want to checkout the draft section and get yourself ready, it's a little different then CBS..I know Jimbo and Ted have used it, so thye should be fine.

Joe what's up with booing Jimmy Rollins everytime he came to the plate last night. All he said was that "Philly fans were frontrunners and only supported the team when they were winning", which I agree is true. Philly fans are more worried about living up to the "worst fans in the world tag" rather then supporting their team, I could understand not wanting to play in Philly, they should take a look at Greenbay and learn a few things. The MVP of the league last year can't even catch a break....funny stuff!!

Edneck -- UK basketball will be fine long term. Billy Gillespie can flat out coach and he'll have 'em squared away pretty quick. I'd be real surprised if they aren't really good this year.

All Hobdy's accounted for in Madrid. Didn't know anyone or know someone that knew someone that was in the plane yet. Hard to believe so many lives were lost in a plane that didn't leave the airport. Must have burned really, really fast. Terribly sad....

Jon, Glad to hear it!! Very sad indeed.
Gary, Kentucky isn't the program it used to be, It's still the state's team and they idolize the players, but that's not enough anymore...Lets hope Gillespie can get his type of player in and turn things around...Tubby was too hard and old school, you got to have a gentle touch with these kids nowdays, It's all about the dollar and if you ain't cheatin you ain't trying!!

Kentucky is still a top 5 program. Just takes the right guy to come in and stoke the fire. Gillespie is a complete bad a$$ as a coach. A head case of sorts too, but the guy can coach. He took an A&M program that was as bad as you could get and won big with average players. You'll see results this year and be in real contention for the title in a couple years.
And you're definitely right about the "if you ain't cheatin', you ain't trying" part. NCAA basketball is as dirty as it gets. Even the "clean" programs are dirty by most people's standards.
