07.28 Last week when Marcus Robinson complained of back spasms, the Bears thought he was just dehydrated. It turns out that he actually had a herniated disc. He had surgery on Friday to repair the injury, and is expected to miss the next four-to-eight weeks. There's a chance he could return in time to practice for the season-opener on September 9.
Makes Terrell #1 in my eyes, although if anybody can throw to him is another question. Cade Mcnown is going to the fish according to the Mort report.

That' probably the case, but with this being a 14 team league, RBs are at a premium and the WW is pretty well stripped by the end of the draft. You've got to take a chance sometimes.
Holmgren wasn't too enamoured with Green either and he's worked out pretty well in GB. He could also be trying to drive up the asking price of Watters to Baltimore.

Yeah, deepsnapper - actually, if the hawks suck as expected, Green may get the bulk of the carries by the end of the season. In my keeper league (in Seattle) he will certainly go too early (or he may actually be held!), and Watters will go later than he normally would.

This network is really pissing me off. You wouldn't believe the trouble I had making my pick. It just wouldn't let me into my inbox, or any of the threads. I hope this isn't going to be a prime-time ritual. Additionally, the Columbus version of ESPN2 decided that I'd rather watch the Angels/Red Sox rather than the Tribe/A's. Not that Fox Sports Net isn't chipping in on the action, I can watch the crummy Reds anytime I want. ARGGH! Guess I'll go read some contracts.

We're going to have to kick it up a notch to finish in time. We've taken almost 11 days to complete 7 rounds. We've only got today and 9 full days to complete the remaining 10 rounds.
It's not going to happen IMO.

Perhaps we just need to set a time when everyone is around. With 14 people that is kind of hard. Also, people need to be more considerate when it comes to these time-outs/18 hour delays. I felt bad last night when it took me three hours to take Kordell for Todd.

Sandbox cuts off the live drafts on Sept 3rd and autopicks the remainder of the players for each team via the "open list style draft" to fill the remaining open slots on your draft card.
The reason for this is to allow for the 72 hour waiver wire claim period to clear for the remaining athletes.
A couple of years ago it was waived and the drafts extended because of Sandbox system availability problems. TMK, it has never been extended in any other case.

On 9-3, Sandbox will take your draft card and fill any open slots on it first looking at the players in your draft queue and then going through the master list.
If you didn't prerank (like me), then you won't be real happy with a few picks.
If you set up your card for 5 RBs and have only drafted 3, then it'll take 2 from your queue or the top of the master list. It will do this for each roster position on your draft card. If you want a player and don't have an open slot, too bad, so sad. You've got to be off auto to make that pick.
I HATE open list drafts!

I don't think we're going to get done in time either. I am also one that didn't set up a draft list. I don't mind at all when someone takes a few hours to make a pick but consitantly taking over 12 hours is what slows it down b/c everyone else quits looking regularly.

Sorry I haven't been around a whole lot... I have been moving into my apartment and I just got my phoneline yesterday... luckily I was able to set up a Queue before I left so I got picks. Yes I have been on automatic for the entire draft but I have been changing my Que each day I just don't know if i am ever going to be able to be around for my actual picks and i dont want to make you guys have to wait for me... Well auto is now on for me with a Queue set of a few sleepers, then just a whole bunch of other guys so I won't be getting stuck with Jeff Blake and the likes. I will be back Sunday, Sept 3 and I am assuming the draft will of been autoed by then. It will be interesting to see if that plays much of a role.

Excuse my french, but this is the 2nd f..ing year in a row this draft has taken forever due to a couple of a..holes. I like playing and competing with most of you gentlemen. However, a bad apple can spoil the bunch, a couple can make the bunch rancid. I would be willing to play the string out on this year and start over next year with most of the people and a couple others in a new keeper league with the same rules. What do those of you who actually care think?
I really feel bad to talk this way but I am sick of hearing about the dam.n 10 day drafts when we can't get a round done in 4 days b/c of the same as.holes.
I will NOT be back to this leauge next year unless things change. If all of you choose to think less of me for that then so be it but I am in this for the fun and this is sapping the fun out. No fun=no reason.

Well this is a slow live draft.... I do feel though when people are going to be gone for more than 10 or so hours during the day without access they should leave a note that they won't be around.
I really have no clue where JKaye is, he's holding up our chatroom draft as well, just doesn't seem like him to be gone for 2 days without leaving a message or anything.

This is 2-24hr timeouts in a row. We've spanned all the timezones in the world. It's been Noon everwhere!

Copy of e-mail i sent to Espouso
Espouso- Your fellow participants have noticed that you have timed out 2 or 3 times in our draft. Each time the computer automatically toggles you to auto select. We think you must be inadvertently toggling yourself back to manual since after timing out in round 8 you are back in manual pick again now. Could you please check in and toggle yourself back to autopick. Thanks Steve Poucher San Pedro

I have to agree with Bill and Tom. Something has to be done. Hopefully during the off year Sandbox will find a way to let people kill keeper leagues so we could start over and be more selective in our admissions practice. I addition to draft problems we had a number of managers who quit mid stream last year and quite a few who didn't select their keepers for this year. Besides I really would like you guys to be able to try startegy- it makes for a much better game (but only for football and hockey. Sandbox baseball and basketball strategy option sucks)

Steve--I'm perfectly fine with strategy, was marginally against it last year because it was my first Sandbox experience, and I wanted to keep things simple. But you are right, a team set up like mine is right now would have lots of trouble scoring points with people loading up on DB's.
So if I read your previous post correctly, Esposo admitted to being online, taking it off auto, and not picking, basically an intentional delay? Disappointing to say the least.

Tom: re strategy- the real beauty is that in strategy I would not have set up my team with 4 RB's and you wouldn't have drafted such a WR heavy team in the first place. In strategy against active knowledgeable managers you really need to have offensive balance.
Re Espouso- I have just copied the e-mail and response verbatim and will let everyone draw their own conclusions. I will acknowledge some responsibility because I sent Espouso an e-mail before the draft started when we had 6 or 7 no shows essentially reminding him that he had incurred an obligation when he joined this "keeper" league and reminding him that he quit on his team mid way through last season. Actually I was asking him for his ID and password so we could replace him if he didn't want to play this year. If I had to guess I would say he is punishing all of us because I reminded him of his obligations. I now wish that I hadn't sent that e-mail and that his team was just a dead autopick team. I really doubt that he will actively manage it if he doesn't start better than 2-3 anyway (like last year).

I've been watching the Cards/Bears replay on DTV this afternoon. They just finished the first half. Pittman had ~40yds + a rushing TD.
Game announcers said he might miss part of the season later on due to "off the field" problems.
