DRAFT COURTESIES:
Please set up Q’s for your next pick, if at all possible. Use
the available/unavailable to make your pick visible. Use the first
pick option to show only the top pick.
Please use the DP (Designated Picker) option if you are not
going to be around for a couple of hours. If you pick the
managers on either side of you, that works best.
If you are a DP, BEFORE YOU PICK FOR SOMEONE,
please check your email AND the thread for any special
instructions (ie., "pick is for round 4 ONLY."). If there are no
instructions, go ahead and pick for them.
If your turn is coming up soon and you do not want to use a
DP, let us know when you will be back so we can relax (ie.,
"going out for supper, home by 9:30 EDT, will pick then.").
If you are agonizing over a pick and need to take your time,
just let us know when to expect your pick to come through. If
you do not have access a computer (you are blocked at work, for
example), use DP, email to me, or let us know when you’ll be
ready.
As Commish, I am automatically a default DP, but I will
always check the thread and my email first for special
instructions. If there is nothing there, I will pick whomever is in
your slot.
Generally, I am around early am (6 - 7), most mid days (12
- 4) and most evenings until the pause to help move the draft
along.
It is a 6 hour clock and those managers at the turnaround
have 6 hours for both picks. If you miss your pick, you will be
skipped but you can fill it in when you return. If you miss one
pick and your turn comes up again, you will be manually
skipped, unless prior arrangements have been made (with me!).
SPECIAL FANBALL RULES FROM GURU:
“When drafting, there is no need to draft every position. For
example, if you want to skip a kicker, be my guest. However,
the Fanball software will force you to fill each of the 15 active
slots when you set your lineup for each game. You will not have
the ability to leave an active slot blank, so plan your bench
needs accordingly. In particular, if you plan to use a player in
the opening Thursday night game, every roster slot will need to
be filled by the Thursday freeze. You may still make
substitutions prior to Sunday for unfrozen players, but you
cannot have a player active on Thursday night if any starting slot
is vacant at that time.
Note that trades during the draft are allowed. Trades should be
announced here, and may include any combination of picks
and/or players.
Players who are not yet listed at Fanball may be drafted, and if
so, a placeholder player will be assigned to your roster until the
player is available. Once the draft is complete, you may no
longer sign (or protect) an unlisted player. If a player is listed at
Fanball but not yet available at kafenatid, there is a link at the
draft site to request the addition of that player. Try to anticipate
these needs, so that we do not have to hold up the draft while
waiting for a player addition.”
Use this thread for draft comments/fun stuff, but
please do not mention any players not yet drafted!

Historically most AAA leagues do rationales.
Are we doing them? I'm partial to them, myself, but if we do them it is mandatory that someone has moderator privileges to do the necessary editing. Two or three people is even better, since it can be time consuming.
Anyone with moderator privileges?

Basically, plan to post the rationale for Round 1 after you pick for
Round 3 (etc) -- so we have plenty of time. Keep a 2 round delay

Westbrook isn't even taken now. What if we just put it how it was and trade the pick after? Add each other as DPs perhaps? Then after the picks are made then trade them? I thought you could simply switch those picks before they are made--but maybe not.
W/o a time limit there is no sense of urgency. Even 6 hrs seems to be that way. I think we will be fine though.
Judy loves her Eagles! ;) After Westy kept me out of RIFC this year, I cringe everytime I htink of him. He did pretty well for me though--considering people thought I reached for him last year at around 6th pick or so.

Kafenatid handles the draft pick trades in a funny way -- they are
all listed, but the original person gets the reminder email?? You'll
see that my pick 1.7 will either have Westbrook in it or be skipped.

AHA now I see what it did. I got 1:05 but then traded it to B7 and it
is only registering that I got it (for the email), but the Kafe site has
the correct picker. This was the only slot with the double move, so
everything should be fine after 1.5 goes.

Medicine is amazing. Just had a heart attack Friday and I'm patched up and feeling great. Not only that the hospital has WIFI so I can work and play football. Just have to love technology.

If you use the "view all picks" link they are listed in order.
You can also use the "draft peak" for our league and get an
alphabetical order and a draft order list. Or you can keep an
handwritten list for all the RIFC leagues.
And, yes, as you draft players please enter them into your FanBall
team -- better to do it as you draft than at the end. thanks.

I also emailed GURU for advice. Looks like we are "done" for tonight, with YR asleep in Vienna. I think he picked at 3 am.
So, get your picks and Q's ready for tomorrow. Shoot me your ideas for dror by 11 pm EDT and I'll try and figure something out.
At the very least, the draft will get a 6 hour delay if it gets back to him so we can go forth with our ideas.
NB On Tuesday, I am out from 7:30 until 12:30 and 3:15 until about 6:30, so make sure you have others ready to DP for you.

When you insert rationales, I recommend that you do it, not under your own handle (e.g. "mjd") but showing the handle of the player you are posting for. I.e., "For Ref", "For Pete N.", "For Judy", "For Toral" etc., as the case may be. Makes the whole thing more readable.

I am out on Weds from 8:30 until about 3 (FH game and then the dentist!). I have two picks close to each
other in Round 7 (7.2 and 7.7), so again, I am keeping my Q closed so I can control what happens. I might
be able to check in between the games and the dentist ~ 12:45, but don't count on it.
Then again, my Q could be picked clean by the time it is my turn, although I put 17 players into it.

First significant injury report since the start of the draft:
Kevin Curtis -- out with sports hernia surgery. Davepyro took him in 6.12.
Does not bode well for my Eagles and Donovan either... although since they are doing the surgery on
Thursday, he could be back by mid season/October. Those mesh repairs are pretty solid if you get
them in before more damage is done.

I think that can be corrected at kafenatid. click on the name of the manager and then on the name of the player. at least I can change the position of my players.

I am out (again) until about 2. My Q is good for round 8 only. DH and MJD are my DP's. dror's Q is full
and available, but I am not sure who his other DP's are. Q's above me are also filled and most are
available, so it looks like we will get to the turnaround pretty quickly today and perhaps even do a
turnaround at the bottom - assuming dror's Q holds up until then.
We are moving well. Current projected finish is Sept 3. I would like be be finished by Aug 31, so that
Labor day weekend is free.

I am working to make some cell phone numbers available for Friday afternoon, all day Saturday, and Sunday morning and early afternoon. Does anyone want to call me when it is my turn? I will be traveling to Oregon middle of Friday, and setting up my show on Saturday.
Judy, Can you make picks for me, if I am on a phone and my que runs out, or do I have to use my sister's computer? I am trying to plan ahead. Any ideas?

I'm going to post this in every RIFC league...
We need some help in G24. PD has missed two picks and is about ready to miss his third. We need someone outside the league to come in and make his picks for him. Mike I messed up the rationales, but then was able to get it fixed -- I didn't hit the "do you

It is so much easier if we can put the final version of the rationales in in order rather
than using placeholders and then trying to figure out the HTML codes.
According to what I can figure out, we need rationales for these picks:
ROUNDS 1-6
Round 1: 3 , 4, 13
Round 2: 2, 11, 12
Round 3: 3, 4, 6
Round 4: 2, 5, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12,
Round 5: 3, 4, 6, 8, 9, 10, 12, 13, 14
Round 6: all but 4 and 14
