I don't know how many times I've gotten the message, "Thank God for a three hour clock!"
I'm getting ready to send thk an email to talk about things. I know he is busy but so are a lot of people. Thing is that he's timed out of drafts a lot. He has a good team and want to give him every chance to remain in this league as we have every year. Remember when rfs used to remove managers immediately the 2nd time they timed out in a draft?!?!
Please Make sure you are emailing the next three managers to pick after you post. If you post a Q, please email the next three. Some people are at their computer, but don't know they are up because people fail to email them. One manager just informed me that he didn't get ANY emails from the three people in front of him. If we want to get through this in time, we need to do a better job of this collectively.
Once thk picks or times out, a bunch of picks are goign to come off the board in a hurry. I've got my pick figured out (hope he is still there!) and have Qs or have talked to the other guys around me.

I will be operating via queue and email the entire draft during normal work hours. No access to the site from government computer and I am on the road. I also don't have access to the game site or my email during the day so won't be emailing whoever is next or adding anyone I draft to my team until I do get back to my hotel room each evening.

Really need to get back on pace. Those long picks not only slow down the draft itself, but hurts the flow with people being able to hang out and make their pick after they get email notification.

Still trying to figure otu what to do with PD. I don't think we can allow him to miss his first three picks. Options are basically to replace him or try and find someone to pick for him. This is a pretty tough league for that, but better than skipping the anymore picks. I don't have anyone else on the wait list and at this point we'd need someone who is very good and would be better to have someone that has experience with our leagues to jump in running like Frick.

Ref - why can't you and Card's make the picks for PD. I've reviewed the picks in the RIFC AA league that the queue has made for PD and he is being killed by it. 5 rounds in and no RB? How could ya'lls picks be worse for his team than a crazy queue?
He's losing chances at quality players with every pick. That's my vote anyway rather than lose Fred due to him being out in the wilderness.

I would vote for any of the above options besides continuing to skip his picks. Give him the best available player based on ESPN's rankings or ADP rankings.
At least if he is getting the BPA he might have a chance of trading them for a spot he needs.

TB: as I posted in 63, as he indicated, there is no chance of him being able to make a pick before this evening. He forgot to leave a Q. Rather than charge him for 3 hrs on his c clock and hold the draft up for 2 more hours, we can move on and he is saved that two hours. I feel bad for his situation. Shocked he didn't send a q today as he sent one yesterday and that is now empty.

Ref, you made the right call. I actually got lucky that I was able to check in. Oakland was at the top of my queue, so I got my pick. I meant to send a queue last night, but we were 18 picks away when I checked so went out to have a couple beers and figured I could recheck when I got back. A few beers turned in to many beers and shots and suffice it to say I didn't get back on the internet until today.
I am flying after training today and won't be back online until about midnight, but doubt it gets back to me before then.

I am NOT up on football and just this weekend totally half-assed my one in-person football draft. I'll have to pass on being PD's picker. mbj just emailed me. He's in court and will be at least an hour before he can get computer access.
I have posted for help in every RIFC league as those managers probably are more attuned to our needs because of the set-up.
RE: PD If we don't have a fix by the time he is skipped for his third time--we will stop the draft and cards and I will confer to make his picks up.
If we had any kind of heads-up before the draft, we could have prepared for it, but this is disappointing to say the least. Hard to try and rebuild his team when he misses these picks.

There are a few guys who realy could leave a Q since they can't check in often. This could come back to bite them later in the draft.
Overall, we're a little behind our minimum pace.
Man, not having a pick in the 2nd or 3rd round is killing me. There are guys with 4 and 5 picks made already. Several more picks before I can go. This has been pretty tough draft to watch since I'm sitting on the sidelines! ;)

I'm back. I posted this in the RIFC AA thread as well, but my lack of access for this draft was particularly a pain, as I spent a lot of prep time for this draft and took all sorts of sheets and magazines with me on my vacation to use in the draft.
But first of all, I have to apologize to everyone in the draft. I won't bore you with the details, but my vacation essentially consisted of shopping (while worrying about the lack of internet access), taking the kids to the beach (while worrying about the lack of internet access), sneaking in about 30 minutes total on the computer the entire week, and coming back a day early (15 hours of driving straight) to get back in the office here.
I had no idea the cottage not only had no internet access, but that there were no phone lines. I have to do a lot of smoothing of feathers this week for a couple of clients who were unable to reach me last week as well. Originally, the plan was to queue up in the mornings in the drafts, spend the day doing vacation stuff with the kids, then queue maintainence at night as needed. All that went into the toilet (or "toilette" as they say on PEI).
All in all, a mess, ably handled it appears by the commishes and Guru. My thanks to them for stepping into the breach.
Give me just a couple of hours to clear through the draft sheets and get back to speed. Again, my apologies and thanks for your continued patience. I'm a long-time Gurupie and would *never* do anything like this lack of access intentionally.

131: Thx TB. I learned that if we don't work, a draft this big goes to crap. Trying to do it as fast as we need to this year is extra challenging but the league has really responded (for the most part) as usual.
PD, glad to see that everything is ok. Being a long-time Gurupie and in all of our leagues since inceptions was the factor in simply trying to find a replacement picker. GL worked hard to help so we all thank him for that. Please be sure to send him a note when you're up to speed.
Skinneej: Not sure what is up with him. He's been able to make hs picks (albeit untimely). He's been slow to respond on the vote as well. I am hoping this is just temporary--but others have little to no access but have made arrangements. For the integrity of the draft--we don't like to skip people--but we also have to keep the draft moving--hence the c clock. We've NEVER had someone time out of their clock so fast.
From now on, skinneej won't be on the clock. He is auto-skipped. The manager after him will be OTC immediately. When you email the next three and his pick is included, you're basiclaly going to email the next 4. He may pick as soon as the guy before him has picked but he doesn't have an exclusive slot anymore so it's first post-first take between him and whoever is OTC.
The only other manager who has less than their avg per pick time left is AF. I am not sure how much longer he is going to have spotty access and need someone to call/text him.
Draft is going ok. I think we should be able to get the draft done in time. Seeing how we got through the same amount of picks yesterday as we have the rest of the week helps. If we can get doen before Labor Day Weekend it will help a few of you who are planning on being away. Then we need to discuss when to turn on waivers.
Being active in this league is so important. Missed or bad draft picks. Missing trade opps or missing WW/FA opportunities could mean all the difference. It's possible with good managing (and some luck) to turn your team around quickly.

Right now we're averaging about 1 round per day. Unless we pick up the pace everyone can plan on drafting over Labor Day Weekend.
I'm around this evening, working through a huge amount of paperwork. Someone drop me an email when I'm up--I should be able to pick within about 15 minutes (or less), until about 1am EST tonight.
Hopefully it'll get at least to me tonight.

Hope everyone had a lovely evening. Slizz apparently did even though he said he was going to be here!!! lol I appreciate you posting my pick for me. Didn't have the time to do proper research so Ks looked pretty easy and I was going to ahve to get one eventually so there you go!
As far as the draft is concerned, Cards is right, we've fallen off the pace. I expected to slow down over the weekend, but we didn't get ahead through the week as we normally do. So we're well behind now. Not behind of finishing before the season starts, but Labor Day weekend is this week. We not only have to get through the draft, but then go over rosters and turn waivers on. Then make sure they can run at least once (pref. twice) before the first game lock on Thurs. I think we will be fine--but drafting or even putting waiver claims in could get tricky. Commishs can't put in WW claims for you!
As far as the c clock goes, besides sj not having any time left, AF now has less than 3 hrs. Several have texted or claled him to try and help him out and I assume that is going to have to continue--but he still needs to be ready to pick and someone is going to have to contact him quicker. I htought he was getting emails via phone as he responded to an email I sent him that way. Most everyone else seems to be fine. Remember, Qs don't charge time.

Some Draft Tidbits...
Frick is OTC until 9:54 am...
We've almost caught up to our minimum draft pace to get done before Labor Day Weekend. We should probably start talking about if anyone does not have access to CBS over the long weekend as it would be helpful to get Waivers turned on. Remember when waivers are turned on it's minimum one full day. So if we turn them on Sunday--they don't get assigned until Tues. morning. That is the latest we can do it for dropped players from the WW to be claimed again before the first game on Thurs. Once waivers run, they are all free agents except for those dropped players. In fact, even if you are away for the weekend, you can still claim players as long as you get your claim in before the CBS sti rns soemtime after midnight on Tuesday morning.
AF has now timed out of the draft. It's rare for us to have two people to use up their c clock. No one else is under 3 hours. Most have more than 6.

I'm glad I went the direction I did with my 9th round pick. The back-up QB I wanted was picked a couple of picks ahead of me. The one I would have preferred, but due to bye week conflicts went a couple of picks after.
Is there a lot of FA/WW movement during the season? Looking at the rosters and constraints it seems like the should be due to the roster constraints.
Also, can I get a reference or a quick run down on how waiver priority is handled and if/when FA pick-ups are allowed?

Frick - there is a decent amount. Mostly to fill byes and snatch up players like Derrick Ward who will get the starting role if the starter (Jacobs) gets injured. There is almost always one or two breakout players who could help your roster (i.e. Ryan Grant, Earnest Graham, etc.)
Waiver priority is based on record (i.e. the draft order). It gives the worst teams the best odds to get their hands on that "hot" player. On average, if you started off the season @ #24, there you'll be at the #1 waiver spot by seasons end. My bills started off with the #4 priority last year, I accidentally used it week 1 for Napoleon Harris (dont laugh) and got back to the top priority around week 10.
If you choose not to use the waiver system, just wait until the morning after all players clear waivers to pick someone up.

214: Slizz your draft is over. If you still own 10.15 when 10.14 is picked, it is forfeited and autoskipped since you can't exceed 20 players.
215: The process is explained in the rules. In a nutshell, it's reverse draft order and doesn't reset. Also you can look at historical transaction history as well. Takes a little time going back, but it gives you an idea at least. 216 is accurate. At times we're scraping the bottom of the barrell and many times players don't pan out and are thrown back at times for one week wonders.

Cards: Funny; my e-mail program kept trying to send it every time I tried to send another e-mail, unsuccessfully and giving an error message, and I eventually had to delete it from the outbox to stop this.
I tried to send a cc to deepsnapper in the same e-mail. Maybe that be the problem?

As I've looked at some rosters, stuff didn't seem right. Yet every time I've chekced settings they were right. Here's the issue...
First the settings are right and no one can circumvent them. However, if you tr yand start too many WR/RB/TE combo, CBS will let you do it and not show you an empty slot for another position (such as an IDP). However, your lineup is still illegal and won't score you any points. You will still get the yellow warning flag.
The issue arises because you can have from 1-3 RB or WR or TEs. There is a min of 1 each (3) and a max of 5. So you can have 2 rb 2 wr 1 te, 1 rb 3 wr 1 te, etc. An invalid lineup scores 0 points for the week. That has never happened in our league.

Ref - RD 10 queues I received from Toral specifically stated not to use in RD 11, & I don't have a new one - sorry.
I've got a late afternoon eye appt & it's out of town so I'll be gone from 4PM-8PM ET. What a strain. I'll need to send a queue if it hasn't made it to me by then.

I just emailed Toral. He hasn't made up his skipped pick yet. In our 2nd year a manager asked if he could just skip his last round pick and wait for news and pick asap. We quickly figured out that if he could--hell everyone would! So we decided then that a manager has a per pick clock (in this case 3 hrs) to make up his pick OR until the last manager picked or timed out to make up their picks or they couldn't make up their pick. It was only brought up one other time a couple years ago when Coyotes (who had the last pick of the draft) asked if he could just wait a few more hours to make his pick after he timed out. When we explained our procedure, he went ahead and picked.
I'm sure something just came up with Toral as he's had a q for every pick after the first round--even if he just blindly emailed them out. But if anyone else should get skipped we'd follow that procedure. Would still have time to get players off WW or FA. CT sent me a short q and said, if they aren't there I'll pick someone next week! lol

Looks like all drafted players are on the teams now. There are two illegal teams: Twarpy needs a IDP and Cards needs a DL. Two other teams may add another player via WW/FA/Trade (CT/Toral) but they are not illegal.
