Please post your rationales here for picks that were made at least 2 rounds ago. For your 1st round rationale also include your reasoning for your draft slot selection. Feel free to post them out of order, I will cut and paste them to a different thread later in order. Include your team name, pick number and round, player taken, position, and player's team.

1.13 Ryan Grant RB GB

I didnt have a choice as to what number I would pick because I was #14 in the selection process but I'm fine with lucky number 13.

I took Grant here because I had my eye on 5 players with my first two picks:
Grant GB
Lynch Buf
LJ KC
Moss NE
MJD Jax

I knew I would get at least one of them. Grant was the top of that list for me for several reasons. Largely because he's not sharing the load (hopefully) and the offense, even without Favre, should still be viable. Plus I'm a ND guy so I wanted to pull for him.

2.02 Larry Johnson RB KC

As I said in my first round rationale, I was targeting 5 guys with my first two picks. I knew I needed both Brady and Manning to go prior to my second round pick in order for one of these guys to fall to me. Also, I needed one other stray pick in there or else I expected they would all be off the board. PD's pick of Winslow provided that one last bump I needed and LJ fell to me.
I like that LJ is carrying the load alone and also I think he'll be better than expected. Still not the LJ of a few years ago but someone on that team has to provide offense and they don't really have much more. If somehow the O line gets it together, he could be a nice surprise.

i took addai cause he was best RB available. he'll get 90% of the COLT carries health permitting.

Picks 1.14/2.01
-I always go RB/RB no matter what.

My realistic Queue was as follows:

#1) Lynch
#2) MJD
#3) LJ
#4) Grant

I actually had Marshawn as my #6 ranked player overall and was very fortunate that he fell my way. I think he is poised for breakout season with the addition of James Hardy to take the focus off of him in the Redzone.

Based on where I was picking, I had MJD as my #2 back who I have ranked as #7 overall player.

Picks 3.14/4.01
Because RIFC starts only 2 RB's I did not want to lockup my 1st bench player at this point. Therefore my strategy was TE/WR or WR/WR.

I toyed with taking Antonio Gates b/c I have NEVER EVER had him in any of my leagues but ultimately ended up passing in favor of Steve Smith despite the 2 game suspension. Smith with Delhomme puts up #'s as good as anyone in the NFL and it looks like Delhomme is back and stronger than ever!

As for my other pick, Santurdio Holmes, I had a bit of a brain fart for that fact I accidentally highlighted part of Chad Johnson's name on my draft board and thought he was gone already! Otherwise that would've been Pick 4.01.

Nice value pick, Russell!

1.07 Steven Jackson, RB, STL
I took the seventh spot figuring I'd get Brady, one of the top 5 RBs if they fell, or Portis if none of that worked out. Seeing Brady go at 4 was surprising and I figured I'd be taking Portis when it got to me. Just happened to be Jackson was still available and I had no problem taking him at 7. I can't imagine his contract situation not getting worked out, so I'm not too concerned with that. Assuming he's starting week 1 and stays healthy, I think this was a great pick at 7.

2.08 Reggie Wayne, WR, IND
Coming into the second round, I didn't like any of the RBs available, so I decided I'd go with a top tier WR. Since I was a few picks away and had to head to bed, I set my queue, knowing I'd get one of the guys I targetted. To my surprise, I got up seeing that I got my top guy. Wayne has been solid and there is no reason to think this season will be any different. The only hiccup I can see is the first 1 or possibly 2 weeks, if Peyton is not able to go. Either way, I'm not very concerned.

1.02 Adrian Peterson, RB, MIN
This is the easiest pick in the draft this season. Take whoever is available of LT or AP. I'm personally happy I ended up with AP of the two.

2.13 Braylon Edwards, WR, CLE
I wanted the best available WR with this pick. I've seen Edwards go as high as the #2 WR in the drafts I've been following to guide my own, so I felt very lucky that he was still available when it was my turn, and selecting him as almost as much of a no-brainer as my first pick.

1.01 LaDainian Tomlinson
Name says it all. If this was a keeper league I might of picked someone else. Lets hope we stay off the injured reserve list! I curse you last year S. Jackson for killing my RIFC year.

2.14 Larry Fitzgerald
Well to be honest I had my eye on Braylon Edwards but he got picked right before it was my turn. I haven't picked from the #1 slot in a long time and figured I would try something new with the double WR studs on 2 and 3 instead of RB's

I'll post my first 3 since I'll be picking my 5th rounder in 3 picks.

Pick 0.09- 9th pick
I had hoped a top 6 pick would drop to me, but it didn’t so I took the best available. I knew I would get a top 10 RB which is always my goal in RIFC drafts. Getting a solid RB to cornerstone my team is the hallmark of all of my RIFC teams. They've done studies and 60% of the time it works, every time.

1.09- Clinton Portis, RB, WAS
Hello, old friend. I think this is the 3rd time I’ve had Portis in an RIFC draft. I was hoping Barber or Jackson would fall to me, but to no avail. Portis has been a super back the past few years. There wasn’t any other player I looked at when I saw who was left. He was great for me in the past, and I can only hope he betters himself with a new OC and HC.

2.06- Willis McGahee, RB, BAL
I looked at the WRs at this pick, but I couldn’t convince myself to go with one this early. I know, it’s the year of the WR and I should have probably gotten one since the RBs were still falling into to the 3rd round. I like McGahee and I don’t think his knee causes him too big a problems. Another player I’ve had in my fantasy past that has produced well for me.

3.09- Torry Holt, WR, STL
I needed to get a WR as the run had started. I think I got really good value with Holt here. I see a big time bounce back year for the Rams offense. I believe if (Undrafted QB) stays healthy and the o-line isn’t worse than last year. that Holt will be a top 5 WR again. S-Jax will end his hold out and the Rams should be high flying again. I see 1200 yards and 8 TDs, and in the 3rd round you can’t hope for much more.

1.03 Brian Westbrook

I took the 3rd selection for the obvious reason - since everyone basically knew which two were going at 1 and 2, I wanted to have the first shot at the rest. That being said, I was targeting either Brady or Westbrook. Westbrook was the pick because of the versatility and the last time I picked a QB in the first round, I stunk upi the joint.

2.12 Willie Parker, RB Pit

I also wanted to go RB/WR with my first two picks, but since I was picking early in the third round, I could not pass up the chance to get a second top RB.

3.07 Michael Turner, RB, ATL
I was looking at Turner or Thomas Jones with this pick. Both will probably put up similar numbers, but I decided to go with Turner. I think he's much more of a risk as he should have a bigger upside, but could also do terrible depending on how the Atlanta offense turns out this season. This is his chance to shine now though, and I don't see him blowing that chance.

3.02 Brandon Jacobs, RB, NYG
I've never really thought of Jacobs as a good guy to rely on as your second starter, I always saw him as more of a flex/match-up exploit type guy. This year I think he's got a chance to come into his own, and I hope he ends up being a guys I can rely on every week.

I knew I wanted my 2nd RB at this point and other guys I was considering included Graham, McFadden, and S. Young. I decided that Jacobs was the surest bet of this group, and am happy with the selection.

4.06-Reggie Bush, RB, NO
I made the mistake in the 2nd round of picking 2 RBs with the same bye week. I needed to correct it some how, and didn’t want to wait too late. I am one of the founding members of the “Reggie Bush Goes Too High in Drafts” Club. He’s yet to prove to me that he’s an every down back. But when it’s the 4th round, you need a RB, and you get points for KR/PR yards he's a good pick. Do I think Reggie is a good 2nd RB? No. Do I think he’s a good bye week fill-in? Yes. This is a solid value pick in the 4th round.

4.08 Antonio Gates, TE, SD
I'm still not certain how this pick will play out, but hopefully it's for the best. I didn't want to go WR here since I thought taking any of the available guys would be a reach in round 4 when Gates was available. I was really hoping Witten would be here, but he was snatched up earlier in the round. I'm concerned with Gates' toe injury as he might not be ready for the start of the season, and it could cause problems later in the season as well. Regardless, Gates' upside was too big to pass him up here and take a WR or a 3rd RB that I didn't need at the time.

Sorry forgot about this.

1.08-Frank Gore, RB, SF
Came down to Lynch and Gore and as much as I'd love to have Lynch being a Bills fan Gore was just too tempting to pass up. Hoping for Faulk-light with Martz there. Took the 8th pick because in the leagues here I'm usually around the turn at the front or back so grabbed something in the middle for a change

2.07-Andre Johnson, WR, Hou
The beginning of the feast or famine picks. Wasn't a big fan of the RB at my pick and decided to go WR. Probably should of went with the safer Wayne but liked the upside of Johnson. Crossing my fingers now.

3.08-Ronnie Brown, RB, Mia
Wanted Turner so of course he got snagged right before me. Stupid me semi-panicked and made the pick without checking the latest info. So many issues with him would lead to my having to change gears in the draft. Got to hope for some luck with this one.

4.07-Matt Forte, RB, Chi
Needed a back up quickly and like Forte best of what was left (at least for this season) Crappy offense but he pretty much has it by himself. Hate relying on a rookie as a possible second back (give the Brown questions) but we'll see.

rd 4 planned on picking gates, since the position is WR/TE not RB/WR. he went 2 picks earlier, so i took TGON since i consider him one of 5 elite TE'S. rd. 5 i got lee evans, i rated him the best wideout when i picked. took santana in rd. 6 cause randy was gone.

5.07 Kevin Smith, RB, DET
Seeing Hasselbeck go to a team already having a QB really threw me off for this round. My plan was to grab the best available RB/WR and hope others behind me did the same, leaving some of the QBs I wanted for round 6, since I thought most QBs already picked went too early. After Hasselbeck was off the board, I was considering taking Cutler here, but decided to just take Smith, as I would need a solid RB as a backup at some point, and he would be off the board before I got a chance to pick again. I also figured Kyle would trade his pick with Wolfer for Hasselbeck, trying to fix the situation, leaving an extra QB available for my 6th round pick.

1.06 - Marion Barber, RB, DAL

When I got the 6th pick in the draft, thought Tom Brady would be my available pick - not exactly. With him gone, went back and forth on which RB to take - went with Marion hoping he steps up and dominates as the main back without losing too much to the rookie.

By all accounts that I have seen, Calvin has been a monster so far...hoping that can continue into the regular season. Certainly has the potential to be a beast.

5.09 Roddy White, WR, ATL
I love the situation Roddy is in this year, and have been targeting him in all my drafts. The offensive coordinator, Mike Mularkey, was in Pittsburgh as OC in 2001-2003. Plaxico and Hines has some of their biggest years back then, and there was a very uncertain QB situation with Tommy Maddox. (I think I don't have to say undrafted with him right?)
I think Roddy is very much like Hines, in size and the way they play the game. I think he continues the success he has last year and puts up another 1000 yard season and adds hopefully 6-8 TDs.
As I said I had been targeting him in all of my drafts, and was a little shocked that he fell to late 5th round, but when 4 RBs went in front of me I felt really good that he would make it to me. I tried to trade up with Bonka to secure him, but that fell through.

6.06 Pick Traded for Matt Hasselbeck, QB, SEA
When I saw wolfer took Hasselbeck in the 5th round I knew it was a mistake, and I thought I would capitalize by trading this pick and trading down 11 picks in the 10th round (to the 11th round). Had wolfer made his actually pick (likely a WR) I believe Hasselbeck would have still been around at this pick, so I would have taken him.

I like Hasselbeck this year. He's got a better ground game behind him, with better pass catching RBs. (Undrafted/Free Agent) was never a good reciever, so now that they brought the other to RBs I like his chances to throw to them more often. Injuries have hurt the WR corps, but Hasselbeck has never really had top tier WRs so I expect him to do just fine. After last season's career highs I may be paying a little much for him, but I think it's worth the risk for what could turn out to be a top 5 QB.

6.08 Hines Ward, WR, PIT
After seeing no QBs taken in the 5th or 6th rounds since my last pick, I knew I was going WR here. There were only a handful of guys I was considering, since I think there's a drop off to the next tier. Hines should hopefully bounce back this year, stay healthy, and put up better numbers. If so, he'll make a solid #2 receiver for me.

5.14 Patrick Willis
When you get a chance to land a skill position player with the potential to give you around 200 points, you do it. Patrick Willis fit that build as I was not crazy about the WR's that were leftover.

Willis is going to lead the league in tackles and with luck will score a couple of TDs for me.

6.01 DeAngelo Williams
Jonathan Stewart preseason line: 4 carries, 3 yards. Anyone who follows the Gurupie 24 Threads knows that was as bullish as anyone on Stewart. However, his term of endearment from his own mouth that his toe wont be the same and probably will hurt for the entire season, possibly career was enough to steer me away. DeAngelo Williams has looked great in pnreseason (thats not saying much b/c Rob Johnson did as well) and I think the combination of the lingering effects of Stewarts Injury + Williams' experience will reap my team benefits.

7.07 Jay Cutler, QB, DEN
I would have preferred to go with another position with this pick, but I was wasn't sure Cutler wouldn't make it back to me the next round. My hope here is the people drafting before my next pick start scrambling for QBs and take them too early, leaving better options at the positions I was looking at here originally for round 8.

3.01 Marques Colston, WR, NO

Continueing with trying something different for me and going with a strong WR punch. Went with Colston.

4.14 Donnovan McNabb, QB, PHI

Well, either will work out great or will be the downfall of me. I've road this QB in several leagues the last few years and even with injury managed to make playoffs with him. Him and Westbrook a potent combo, so will see.

5.01 Jonathan Stewart, RB, CAR

Well took a risk with the double WR punch and this was best on the board at the time. He is obviously young, fresh, big back. Probably won't get much play first part of year, but we can hope he makes it more by mid-season. DeAngelo is definitely not a star RB.

6.14 Laveranues Coles, WR, NYJ

Welcome to the new mini era of Favre to Coles. Coles should get close to 100 receptions this year and according to training camp already one of Favres favorites. This compliments the duo of Fitz and Colston imo.

7.01 DeMeco Ryans, LB, HOUS

I have a bad habbit possibly of picking defense early.. But IDP seem to be the difference at times of winning and losing each week. Definitely going to be making a lot of tackles with the questionable Texans offense staying on the field.

8.14 Chris Perry, RB, CIN

The benefits of doing a slow draft at times? With injuries and well a dismal RB trio in Cinci, at this point looks like Chris Perry is the starter. So lucky me with an 8th Round Pick.

9.01 London Fletcher, LB, WAS

Loved this guy ever since he was a Ram. One of Rams dumbest mistakes ever, letting Lovie Smith and him leave. They have never been the same without both and are god awful defensive team now. Two stud Linebackers now, I'm set with plenty of tackles.

7.09 - Nate Burleson, WR, SEA
After picking 3 RBs and a QB I thought it’d be time to finish up my skill positions. It really came down to 3 guys, Burleson, Anthony Gonzalez and Berrian. I then looked at each guy’s situation and immediately ruled out Berrian. While I believe (Undrafted QB) improves immensely this season I just don’t trust him to get the ball downfield and that’s really Berrian’s only skill. I’m a big time Colts fan, but I don’t like Gonzalez’s situation. If Harrison comes back healthy, which he looks like he’s going to, Gonzalez becomes the 5th option in the Colts offense, behind Wayne, Clark, Addai, and Harrison. As potent as the offense is, and as many points as they are going to put up on the board, I think the Colts run the ball a lot more this year now that they have (Undrafted RB) back and (undrafted RB) who I think will take the former’s backup role. So this led me to Burleson. I get 10 points for every TD he catches (since Hasselbeck will be throwing them) so I like getting the double points and he’s in a great situation. Every other WR on the team is either hurt or hasn’t played before. Hasselbeck’s going to go with what’s familiar. While the ‘hawks have said he won’t be returning punts since he’s the #1 WR, I think that changes in week 8 when (undrafted) returns. Then the receiving points Burleson loses (if he loses any) will be made up in return points. He’s a great guy for a #3 WR.

8.06- Will Witherspoon, LB, STL
All of my key offensive starters are filled and I think I’ll go IDP now. Witherspoon, Jared Allen and DeMarcus Ware were the 3 guys I was targeting here. While I really thought long and hard about picking Allen, he’ll probably see double teams all year and there are some good O-lines he’ll have to go against. Ware’s offense is on the field way to much, and I feel they will only be on there longer now that Barber is the RB. Witherspoon’s offense is a strike quick kind of team (Greatest show on Turf? No. Not anymore) and I believe he’ll see the field more often than Ware. Witherspoon was great getting a ton of tackles behind a very shakey D-line. Well they improved that line with the draft, so I see the opposing O-lines struggling to get to Witherspoon, allowing him to run free and make even more tackles. The man has talent and that’s why he’s my first IDP taken.

8.08 San Diego Chargers, DEF
I was looking to grab McGee or either the Chargers or Minnesota DEF with this pick. My decision was made for me since the other two were both taken before my turn. Hopefully the defense can put up solid numbers again this season and outscore any of the remaining DEF. I found out after this pick that Merriman was hurt, so hopefully if he does end up not playing, the defense doesn't suffer too much.

5.8-Fred Taylor, RB, Jac
Still a little worried about my RB situation I took the dive here and grabbed another one. Basically wanted the security and looking over who was left at the position I liked him best by far. Not expecting miracles here but hoping for a solid year from him.

6.7-David Harris, LB, NYJ
Really wanted Chambers but he got picked before me. I've had a history of jumping in too soon with defensive picks before (As high as second round one year, I learned from that) and with my my questions at RB and my forthcoming weakness at WR I wanted to make sure I had a decent defense going and so I jumped at the chance to grab Harris here.

7.8-David Garrard, QB, Jac
Had hoped a WR would drop to me here (like Moss) but when that didn't happen I figured it was time to go QB. As I said earlier I had targeted Cutler but once again was snagged before me. Went to Garrard and quite happy with it.

8.7-Jared Allan, DL, Min
Keeping with the theory of wanting to get decent defensive players Allan was an easy pick for me here. I know DL can be very inconsistent sometimes but I hope and think Allan can be a force for me this year.

9.8-Jerry Porter, WR, Jac
Wow. Finally another receiver. A bit of a risk with the injury but I've already got a couple so why not one more. Latest I heard had him ready for opening day so got my fingers crossed here.

9.07 Brian Urlacher, LB, CHI
I knew I had to get a top LB here since they were already being grabbed by a few teams. Lucky for me, nobody grabbed the top guy on my remaining list. He was only the #2 LB last season and is playing on a Chicago defense that should see plenty of time on the field with what is likely to be another bad offense this year. I'll gladly take Urlacher here as a stud LB who should be in the top 5 again to anchor my IDPs.

9.09- Keith Bulluck, LB, TEN
10.06- Karlos Dansby, LB, ARI

I saved this rationale for both players because it’s basically the same thing. These are what I consider value picks. I feel these 2 players had the most points to offer me each week. They are both going to be starters week in and week out for me so I wanted the most points I could get. I looked at getting a backup WR or a TE but I didn’t see as much value there. I now have 3 top 15 LBs IMO and they should average about 8 points a piece each week. That’s what I’m expecting from all of my IDPs (except DL since you can’t expect anything out of them) . Bulluck has been a stud LB in this format for a few years now. He’s getting a little older now, but the Titans offense seems to be getting worse and worse, which means more and more time on the field for Bulluck. Let’s hope more time=more stats.
Dansby is in an almost identical situation, poor offensive play, which could lead to more time. But unlike Bulluck, Dansby is young and on the rise. 5th year in the league and his stats keep improving. I’m hoping for an 80 solo tackle performance from him this year. Throw in 10 PDs, 20 assists and a sack or 2 and you have a great season. I think both players can easily put up those stats.

There were still quite a few top LBs left and I wanted to grab another, since we can start up to 4 each week and they will put up similar or better numbers than any WR left at this point. Henderson was a top 10 LB last year and is on one of the best defenses in the league. I expect him to put up similar numbers again this year, providing me with another solid LB.

11.07 Trent Cole, DL, PHI
I thought I was going with another LB at this spot, until I decided to look over everything again and wanted to grab a top DE before they were all gone. I had Coles targetted since he had a great season last year while owning him then as well. Hopefully he can repeat and provide good points from my DL spot.

7.14 - Bernard Berrian, WR, MIN
With Steve Smith out for the first 2 games, I needed to choose a WR here no matter what. As Kyle stated above, it came down to 3 guys:

1) Anthony Gonzalez
2) Bernard Berrian
3) Nate Burleson

Since Burleson went right around where he usually gets selected in a 14 round draft, I just crossed him off my board. When A-Gonz went my immediate reaction was NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO as I think he projects to have a monster year, especially if one of the Colts WR's gets dinged up.

That left me with Bernard Berrian. See below, that wont ever happen with Berrian.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9WZNyYouzuk

8.01 - Eli Manning
I saw the run on QB's starting and I got slightly worried I wouldnt land a competent starter. I equate Eli to hitting a 3 wood off the tee rather than going for a big drive. With Garrard and Cutler already gone, I had to go with a QB who would be stable rather than present serious up/down potential like Schaub, Favre, or Rodgers.

Eli is going to give me 25-30 (yea, 30 is being very generous) TD's and after his playoff perfomrance and is likely to generate me 15-20 points each week.

9.14 - Vernon Davis, TE, SF
At this point, my roster was just missing a TE. I wanted to get a near tier-1 TE and I felt that Davis projects to that. Most TE's dont perform very well their first two seasons as they have to learn how to sell their blocking assignments. My only concern for Davis is that the success rate of TE's in the Mike Martz offense isnt that great...I just hope it doesnt apply in Davis' case ;)

10.01 - Javon Walker, WR, OAK
At this point, my current WR's were Smith/Holmes/Berrian. I needed a 3rd WR for the first two weeks and wanted to go with a guy with tremendous upside. While the Risk/Reward model does apply, I think walker fit that mold. If he is motivated and does play like a top 5 WR (like the Raiders Paid him to be), I got a steal here. If he doesn't, I will likely lose in weeks 1 & 2. I'm hoping for the former.

11.14 - Bryant Johnson, WR, SF
To hedge my bet with Javon Walker, I wanted to add another WR. The former 1st rounder showed that he was more than capable of being "the guy" when Anquan Boldin went down with an injury last season. I am hoping that if Walker doesnt show anything, this guy will. Signs point to a 1,000 yard year with 6-8 TD's as a #2 in Mike Martz' offense. I mean even Furrey & Shaun McDonald were viable options in Detroit! I hope the same applies to Johnson & Martz in SF.

12.01 - Keith Rivers, LB, CIN
A bit of a risk going with a rookie as my 2nd LB...but until his injury and suspensions, Odell Thurmann was a monster in Cincy. I think he will generate alot of points for Marvin Lewis' squad, a la Ray Ray in Baltimore (guys, I'm hoping for the best here). With 3 IDP Flex Spots, Rivers was looking pretty darn good! Lets hope this calculated bet pays off.

12.08 Derrick Mason, WR, BAL
With Mason and Ward, I may have the oldest WR crew in the league. Regardless, as long as Mason can get healthy and play most of the season, I feel he's a solid pick in the 12th. He put up great numbers last season, which I don't expect him to hit again, but he should still have a respectable season. I needed another WR and Mason has been on the board too long, so I had to take a shot.

13.07 Tony Scheffler, TE, DEN
I could have gone with another position at this spot, but I figured I'd grab another TE/WR. I decided to grab two TEs since we have the WR/TE flex, so it gives me more flexability when setting my lineup (not to mention the available WRs aren't impressive) making handling WR/TE byes and injuries a lot easier. I also like him being with Denver since I already have Cutler and any TD hookups they have are great.

13.14 - DeSean Jackson, WR, PHI
I'm starting to feel like Matt Millen here...I'm going with WR's in every other round!

While the prognosis was looking doubtful that I’d go with another WR, I couldn't pass up value like DeSean. To get a guy who is going to be the Philadelphia #2, with Curtis out, and is their starting KR/PR made it a no-brainer. Sure, I had other needs, but Jackson could very well be starting week 1 on my roster and if he doesn’t, I’ll at least have a quality trading chip to help make my squad that much better!

14.01 – Adalius Thomas, LB, NE
Adalius is one of the upper-echelon LB’s given his flexibility. He will end up with 60+ tackles, 10+ sacks, forces fumbles, and picks off passes with the chance of a defensive score each game. He is the football equivalent of a 5-tool player. Let’s just hope the “Swiss Army Knife” of linebackers can help put points up for my squad.

11.09- I traded this pick along with my 6th round pick for Hasselbeck and 12.12. I like the way the deal worked out for both teams. (Hasselbeck and Miller for Chambers and Kitna)

12.06- Kerry Rhodes, DB, NYJ
Last time I as in AA (’05) Rhodes and I were rookies in our respective leagues. I never drafted IDP before and he was one of the players I got. He went on to have a 100+ tackle year and added an INT, FF, and 7 PDs. I’ve been apart from Kerry since then in my 2 AAA years, but this year I felt I needed a good DB and I went back to Kerry for some more. His stats haven’t been as impressive as his rookie year, but I feel he can easily turn things around and put up another 80 solo tackle year. His INTs and PDs have been going up the past 2 years, and I wouldn’t mind seeing more than 5 INTs from him. I always believed this scoring system allows for more consistent numbers from Safeties then Corners, since a corner who gets a lot of INTs one year won’t be thrown at the next.
Again I looked at a backup WR, TE, or DEF here, but none of them are projected to score like Kerry, so I went for the value.

12.12- Heath Miller, TE, PIT
Miller is Ben Roethlisberger's go to receiver in the red zone and should continue to be targeted in the endzone this coming season. He doesn’t get the receptions that the other top-end TEs get, but he defiantly gets the TDs. Last year he had 566 yds and 7 TDs, so if he repeats that I won’t mind the lack of yards when I’m getting a TD from my TE every other week. I’ve never had luck with TEs before and I always draft them too high, so this year I waited and I feel like I picked a winner. And if not then I’ll just have another below average TE like I always do.

13.09 Freddie Keiaho, LB , IND
This was a definite homer pick. I needed a Colts player on my team, and I feel this is the best defensive player (fantasy-wise) that they have. He had a great season last year and I think he improves on it immensely. I would love to see him get around 75 solo tackles and throw in another 20 assists, but realistically I think something in the 60’s is what I’m looking at. Still, he should get about 7 points a game, which isn’t terrible value at this pick.

rd. 7 finds me still not feeling comfortable in my WR situation. so if i pick enough, maybe i'll find a winner. rd.8 i hope to uncover a RB sleeper. magahee never seems to last a whole season. rd 9 brings another WR.if he hadn't been on the mend i would have have taken desean jackson. in rd. 10 i started my search for defensive players. hobbs returns kicks, so that's a plus. next comes DEF TEAM with the colts. i considered others, but took them. greg ellis comes off a good year, ranked top 10 in tackles.

10.7, Vincent Jackson, Wr, SD

I really needed wideouts at this point and I thought he was the best available. That late season run he had has me hoping for some decent numbers this year.

11.8, Marc Bulger, QB, StL

With me waiting for later to fill my starting position at QB I wanted to make sure I had a decent option at back up. I figure he can't be as bad as last year and potentially he can get back to his top QB ways of the past. If not a solid back up to play match ups with.

12.7, Sidney Rice, WR, Min
Shot in the dark here. Still needing some depth at WR so took a stab at the potential he has. Liked Miller at TE for a couple of rounds before but was picked before plus I held off with him having the same by week as Johnson which could mess me up that week.

13.8, Julius Peppers, DL, Car
Kind of like Bulger, I figure he can't be as bad as he was last year. He's had some monster years and could easily return to form. I was considering someone else who got injured so bumped Peppers up instead. Maybe should of took a LB but I like the 1-2 punch of him and Allan. Considered Vilma for the last couple of rounds but kept talking myself out of it with other players. Hope that doesn't come back to haunt me not grabbing him.

I was not expecting to go QB here, but after seeing two go before me and that almost every team between this and my next pick needed a backup QB, I decided I had to take Campbell now, as he was one of 2 guys from the remaining QBs I wanted as a backup.

14.7, Michael Lewis, DB, SF
Needed my backup DB and I liked him here since Atogwe got picked. Thought about Brackett and hoped he'd drop but to no avail.

15.8, Lance Briggs, LB, Chi
Pretty much had him on my radar the whole way. Like the Peppers pick I don't mind taking a chance on a proven guy coming off a bad year.

16.7, Zach Miller, TE, Oak
Been thinking about this position for a while but kept putting it off. Didn't want my main TE and WR to have the same bye week so kept passing on guys I was interested in (Daniels, Olson, Scheffler) so let them go. Finally decided to take the plunge with Miller. Like his upside. May not be a stud but should be solid.

17.07 Antoine Winfield, CB, MIN
I grabbed Winfield to fill my starting DB slot because he's been a tackling machine at the CB position. He was the 3rd highest (from what I can see) DB in PPG last season, but missed 6 games. Even if he doesn't play all 16 games, I'll take the points he'll give me while he does play since he's a step above most other DBs and makes a great value pick being the 18th DB taken in the draft.

15.14 - Philadelphia Eagles, DEF
I wanted to stake claim in a starting defense that I wouldn't have to worry about week-in & week-out. I have never been a fan of picking defenses early, but I have never picked a defense this late either. Unfortunately, I wanted to load up on other positions before I even considered getting a defense. I had Philadelphia and Baltimore as my top ranked defenses based on schedule & where I would be picking one. Philadelphia should benefit from having 3 rock solid cornerbacks combined with Jim Johnson's blitzing scheme and should be a safe play each week.

16.01 - Reggie Nelson, DB, JAX
Reggie Nelson was the #2 defensive back on my board behind Gibril Wilson. As a rookie he totaled 63 tackles, 5 interceptions, and 11 passes defended. Through preseason he already has 3 picks and should easily surpass his tackles # from last season and hopefully get in the recently departed Sammy Knight range. That would project him as the top defensive back when the 2008/09 season concludes.

17.14 - Tim Hightower, RB, ARI
At this point in the draft I, uncharacteristically, only had 3 RB's! Needless to say in a 14 team league it was slim pickings...Tim Hightower presented some value as he is slated to be the goalline back in Arizona and should see around 125-150 carries to take the load off Edge. I am hoping for a bye week TD vulture a la Bettis in Pittsburgh. The fact that Hightower is having a killer preseason doesn't hurt either! If I get something out of him, awesome, if I dont...it was only a 17th round pick.

18.01 - Tarvaris Jackson, QB, MIN
In the Football 101 draft, I missed out on T-Jax in the 16th round and was forced to make a trade to get him. I wasn't about to let it happen to me in RIFC. I think Jackson has taken tremendous strides in the offseason, has a brand new toy in Bernard Berrian to throw deep too, and the NFL's best rushing game.

WISHFUL THINKING: He turns into a young Donovan McNabb.
FO'S FEARLESS PROJECTION: 3,300 yards, 22 TD's, 18 INT's, 400 Rushing yards and 2 TD's.

T-Jax comes with a bit of risk, but thats why I am hedging my bet with Eli Manning.

18.08 Green Bay Packers, DEF
While I did want another defense for my bye week, I wasn't looking to take one this early. Thing is, Green Bay has potential to be a top defense. So in that case, I'm taking them here so someone else doesn't grab them (since they shouldn't still be on the board, imo) as well as being able to play matchups if needed between GB and SD.

I wanted to grab another RB before the pool thinned even more. I was looking at Jackson, Kevin Jones, and Ladell Betts here. I think Jackson is the least likely to do well out of the three, but the most likely to get playing time. I'm guessing he'll be off my roster within the first 6 weeks of the season, but what can you expect out of a RB drafted in the 20th round.

19.14 - Cortland Finnegan, DB, TEN
Probably my worst pick of the draft so far. I just queued up defensive backs (as I needed a backup) and for some odd reason he was the first there. Finnegan did have somewhat of a breakout year last year and could very well build on that now that he is moving to the safety position.

If I had to do it again, LaRon Landry would've been my pick!

20.01 - John Carlson, TE, SEA
I needed a backup TE with potential. With Greg Olsen already gone, Carlson was the last TE in my queue. From Peter King's 10 things I think: 9. I think, if you're looking for a 14th-round tight end bargain in your fantasy draft this week, I'd pick up Seattle rookie John Carlson. He's 6-foot-5, athletic, and the first complete tight end Holmgren's had in Seattle. Look for Hasselbeck to go to him early and often. SOLD. Last complete TE Holmgren had was a guy named Mark Chmura...and that was before the TE was really looked at as an offensive threat! With the banged up Seattle receiving corps, I could see Carlson having a breakout rookie year.

Easiest analysis of the draft. Insurance on my #1 pick, Marshawn Lynch.

22.01 - Channing Crowder, LB, MIA
He will replace Zach Thomas at the tackle friendly MLB spot in Miami. Despite having a conflicting bye week with Adalius Thomas (4), I think from a value standpoint, Crowder was too good to pass up.

No idea what kind of stats he'll put up in his rookie season, but the guy is a beast, has a huge potential, and I just couldn't pass and didn't want to see someone else grab him. I'm hoping he can put up solid numbers and make a good fill in for IDP bye weeks.

23.07 Jerod Mayo, LB, NE
Didn't matter much what position I went with here, so I decided to grab Mayo. I'm not really sure what kind of numbers he'll put up in his first season, but I'll take a shot in case he goes off.
